Finally it is Said
Finally it has happened.
Benjamin Netanyahu has finally said what needed to be said by someone other than nobodies like me. According to the Jerusalem Post Mr. Netanyahu has finally gone after Ehud Olmert. Any leader that allows his people to be attacked without retribution or even a chance that there may be a reckoning needs to be removed from a position of leadership.
Mr. Netanyahu hit it on the head:
Addressing an enthusiastic audience, the Likud leader opined, "Olmert said long ago that we are 'tired of curbing the attacks.' It's not the nation that's tired - Olmert is [the one who is] tired. There is only one thing worse than a nation that has lost faith in its leaders, and that is leaders who have lost faith in their nation."
He followed this by asking Mr. Olmert to vacate his position. Israel needs to do more than ask it, they need to demand it! Why would Olmert agree to restrain when the enemy is taking as many shots as they can? Why would another nations representative expect Israel to do this? Amir Peretz appears to have finally gotten it:
"We cannot gamble with the lives of Israeli citizens," Peretz said.
Then Olmert gets on the phone with Abbas and tells him that the restraint can't last forever. What kind of diplomacy is this? Abbas has as much control over Fatah or Hamas as Arafat did, none. The irony of today's attacks were that "Palestinians" were the victims.
In a region where any kind of restraint is deemed a weakness and cause for more attacks, Olmert has been playing right in to the hands of Fatah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad. The excuse for showing restraint is as pathetic as it is tragic. Government officials believe:
Officials in the Prime Minister's Office said that the terrorists were trying to provoke an Israeli response in order to unify the warring Hamas and Fatah factions against the IDF. The officials further said that a response would give more support on the street to Hamas and Islamic Jihad, and weaken Abbas.
Let me sit here and you can beat up my brother because I know if I punch you in the nose you will get mad. What kind of logic is this? Abbas is already weak. There is nothing anyone can do to strengthen him or put him into a position that could stop the factions from fighting Israel or each other. Get out of this fantasyland you have been living in.
Enough of the games. Either fight or get out of the way! The "Palestinians" have refused to live up to any deal that they supposedly agreed to. They will continue to snipe at Israel until the get the Nuclear backing from Iran. At this point it will be too late. In fact, invade Gaza and the west bank, round up the "Palestinians" and send them to Iran. Let their Islamic brothers take care of them. Be sure to send the Islamic-Israelis, especially the ones in the government, with them.
It's about time Mr. Netanyahu stood up and pointed out the weakness and ineffectiveness of Mr. Olmert. Newspapers and bloggers can only do so much.
