Where are all moderate Muslims?
I found this article entitled "Where are all moderate Muslims?" by JILL CARROLL. I believe that Jill is very blind to what is going on and the roots of Islamic teaching. While I agree that there is moderate Muslims. I do not agree with Mrs Carrolls thesis. Here is a break down of the article and my response:
The question is problematic because of what it assumes: that Islam is naturally predisposed to extremist interpretation; that most of the up to 10 million Muslims in the United States are not moderate, but radical; that those who claim to be moderate aren't because they don't stand up and denounce the extremists. None of these assumptions is supported by evidence. In fact, evidence exists to the contrary.
I tend to disagree there is much evidence to support the idea that many Muslim organizations that are supposed to be "moderate" are not. For instance CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) has had many people that while working for them have been brought up on Terror charges. They have had people that openly support Hamas. Sure they have condemned specific "acts" of terrorism but they will not label groups like Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations. Thats a bit of a problem considering the fact they are the groups that are committing terrorist acts not to mention they are the enemy of our country. So why will CAIR not denounce these terrorist organizations by name? CAIR is very problematic and I have barely scrapped the surface. This is not a Liberal or Conservative issue. This was showed by Barbra Boxer recently when she took back an award she had given to a member of CAIR. Also you should take a look at this video. You will notice that the member of CAIR will not denounce Hamas and Bezbollah. Also take a look at the rest of my post about CAIR here.
If CAIR and other Muslim organizations wanted to be truly moderate. If they really wanted to defeat terror why is it when a group like the Free Muslim Coalition has an anti-terror rally in DC that CAIR and many organizations don't support it? Ibrahim Hooper the spokesman from CAIR had this to say about this organization: "groups such as the Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism and the American Islamic Congress do not represent mainstream American Islam."
"They're free to reflect their viewpoint," he said. "We have our views, and we believe our views reflect the mainstream of the American Islamic community." SOURCE
I'd like to know what view points of the Free Muslim Coalition he doesn't agree with? To me they seem to be taking a firm stance against terrorism isn't that supposed to be a good thing? On top of that it seems that there was around 50 people that showed up for this rally against Terrorism. Many of them seemed to be Christians and Jews. Read here. Why is it that many Muslims can show out in masses for anti-Israel protest and protest against Cartoons. Take a look here Yet when there is a protest against terrorism and terrorist groups hardly anyone shows?
We have not had so much as a backpack bomb in this country since 9/11, and it's not because our security measures are so foolproof. Our largely terror-free experience comes because we have a free, prosperous society governed by a stable rule of law that offers tremendous opportunities for life and happiness, including religious expression. Muslims, like so many other religious, ethnic and racial groups in America, are integrated into all areas of life in all parts of the country, all sorts of neighborhoods, in all sorts of professions. They go to work, pay their taxes, raise their kids and participate in faith communities like most other citizens and residents of this country. They peacefully co-exist with others in this demographically pluralistic nation, just like almost everyone else does. They are our neighbors, co-workers, clients, friends and in-laws.
Agreed there are Muslims that do want a peaceful existence with unbelievers. Thank God they choose to ignore or do not know the deep rooted jihad ideology in Islam. As for the reason we have not been attacked since 9/11 I believe many plots have been foiled. Many of these attacks were not on the scale of 9/11 but they were attacks by Islamist. Example there was a plot to blow up a mall in Chicago read here. Also there was also an Iranian that ran over students at North Carolina University. He did it in the name of Allah and to take revenge on America.Read here. Further I believe that many of the Islamist wait until they have built up enough people to attack. That is another reason we don't see attacks on our soil right now. This was showed by the prophet of Islam Muhammad and the Treaty of Hudaybiya. He made a treaty until he could build a big enough army to attack. You can read more about that here.
Yet, we act like they've come straight from the burning streets of Baghdad or the caves of Tora Bora with plans to blow us up. We see imams praying in the airport and have them taken off the plane. We see women wearing a hijab get on a bus or subway, and we feel ourselves tense up. Or, as happened recently when I attended a large interfaith dinner here in Houston and the well-known president of a respected Muslim organization got up to bless the food in Arabic, someone at a nearby table said, "We'd better hope he's not calling for jihad!"
First of all the situation at the airport is very watered down here. The Imams were not just praying. That is not why they were pulled off the plane. First of all they were hard making anti-American comments by some witnesses and they alligned their seating arrangement like the hijackers on 9/11. They also ask for seatbelt extensions they never used. All this and much more has been documented here. So it was not that they were just praying. Not to mention one of the Imams had some ties to organizations that were not to good. Read here. Many Muslims fly everyday and are not pulled of the plane. These men were acting suspicious that is why they were pulled off.
As for the mocking of the statement "We'd better hope he's not calling for jihad". I fully agree that and we should know what is going on in mosque and what is being taught. They have found that many Mosque here in America are teaching hatred and have books and material teaching extremist ideologies in many of the major mosques. You can find more information about this here.
It has been also be reported by a Sufi Muslim that 80 percent of Mosque in America are funded by extremist. More on that here.
I believe that most people would agree what I have just outlined is very troublesome. So why cant justifiable questions be asked of Muslims about what they believe concerning the issues I have shown? I am not making the Extremist believe what they do. I am simply pointing out what they believe and the cold reality that we do not want to face.
