Insurgents gun down 21 in Iraqi village
We're only trying to help.
More Iraqi on Iraqi death...
BAGHDAD - Gunmen broke into two Shiite homes and killed 21 men in front of their relatives, police said Saturday, as Vice President Dick Cheney sought Saudi Arabia's help in calming Iraq after an especially violent week.
The capital remained under a 24-hour curfew two days after suspected Sunni insurgents killed 215 people in Baghdad's main Shiite district with a combination of bombs and mortars.
Another 87 people were killed or found dead in sectarian violence across Iraq Friday.
Be aware how our mainstream news outlets are going to be following middle-east diplomacy on this war. As we ask more and more countries to help "problem solve" the shiites and the Sunni's will continue to kill each other for their own revenge. Did we overestimate the minds of the people we were there to liberate from Hussein? I'm beginning to think so.
Meanwhile our complicity in a civil war comes to the fore with Al-Sadr claiming we are fighting for the Sunni's.
BAGHDAD - An aide to radical Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr has accused US troops of aligning themselves with Sunni Arab rebels to attack Iraq's majority community.
"It is clear that there is a collaboration between US forces and Baathists. There is evidence of that," said Sahib al-Amiri Saturday, secretary general of the Martyrs of Allah, a Shiite religious body linked to Sadr's movement.
Yes that's their way of saying, "Thanks for the help, ya'll."
