A Hero's Sacrifice

When an American decides to die it is for a far nobler reason than Jihad.

From CENTCOM:

American Hero:
Private First Class Ross A. McGinnis
June 14, 1987 - December 6, 2006
Rest In Peace

“Anytime when you get a Soldier to do something like that - to give his life to protect his fellow Soldiers - that’s what heroes are made of. It also demonstrates that the ‘MySpace Generation’ has what it takes to carry on the Army’s proud traditions.

“Some think Soldiers who come in today are all about themselves,” Johnson said. “I see it differently.”-- Command Sgt. Maj. William Johnson

Some sacrifices have a worth that is apparent and is honorable...others have neither.

An Iraqi grieves over the bodies of his dead relatives following two synchronized explosions that occurred in Iraq's capital. Suspected insurgents set off two bombs in a main square of central Baghdad where scores of Iraqis were waiting for jobs as day laborers, killing at least 59 people and wounding 153, police said.

Thank God for men and women like ours.

Up to 150 people kidnapped in Baghdad

Thanks. Death to America! Oh...and to Jews also.
These guys think it's just plain wrong...and blame us.

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Gunmen wearing Iraqi police commando uniforms kidnapped up to 150 staff members from a government research institute in downtown Baghdad on Tuesday, the head of the parliamentary education committee said.

The abductions appeared to be the boldest in a series of killings and other attacks on Iraqi academics that are robbing Iraq of its brain trust and prompting thousands of professors and researchers to flee to neighboring countries.

Recent weeks have seen a university dean and prominent Sunni geologist murdered, bringing the death toll among educators to at least 155 since the war began. The academics apparently were singled out for their relatively high public stature, vulnerability and known views on controversial issues in a climate of deepening Islamic fundamentalism.

Ali al-Adib, a Shiite lawmaker, said there was little question Tuesday's incident was a mass kidnapping and demanded that U.S. troops be held responsible for the security lapse.

Iraq is shocked and wants the US to leave! Of course the US is responsible for all this...because there are no Jews in Iraq to blame.

**UPDATE** Going after who is responsible.

Training The Lazy Iraqis

Video by GuardianFilms and BBC Newsnight
Iraq:The Real Story

From Neil Doyle and the Guardian Unlimited:

Sean Smith, the Guardian's award-winning war photographer, spent nearly six weeks with the 101st Division of the US army in Iraq. Watch his haunting observational film that explodes the myth around the claims that the Iraqis are preparing to take control of their own country.

I know I know...BBC stands for Broadcasting Biased Coverage but this clip does bring you very close to some of the difficulties of training a backward, ingrained, and "lazy" people.

To be fair: here is the OTHER real story of Iraq.
