He's Got it Right

This may sound like major braggadoccio on his part, but… this particular Muslim has put his finger exactly on the pulse of the West! An exchange on Umma.com (H/T: Little Green Footballs) between a Westerner and a Muslim. The Westerner said:

July 28, 08:54 PM

agathon - The apparent [Thāhir] is that it is (permissible) for us to kill their women and children- even if it means that we lose profit/benefit from it [since keeping them alive is a profit/benefit because they become the property of the Muslims]; (and killing them in this situation is permissible) due to it threatening the hearts of the enemies and a humiliation for them.

Any community that believes this should be removed from existence. Any philosophy that preaches this should be banned from practice, be it in the western hemisphere or the east. This is why the US needs to fight this war in Iraq. Sooner or later, this will become a war against Islam, and Islam will become a distant memory.

I have no doubt that as this obvious non-Muslim commenter (whose account was suspended) says that if the current situation around the world continues unabated we will be heading towards a West versus Islam war. I’m also convinced that the Muslim who answered has a very realistic understanding of the sad situation in the West:

July 28th 9:01 PM Cartman - agathon, you are a fool if you think anyone can defeat islam. In general, we muslims are more zealous about our religion, and you can guarantee that almost every muslim government is going to take part, while not every non muslim government is going to take part because of the lack of interest for them.

Cartman has assessed the situation in the West, perfectly! IslamoFascists make no secret of their designs on the world of the kufar - infidel. Yet, just like the West did not believe that Hitler would do what he carefully delineated in his Mein Kampf, the same lethargy, or dislike for inconvenient, uncomfortable, truths prevalent then pervades the psyche of the West now. There is a real enemy at the gates, but he is not the one that scares me. The enemy within is far scarier, far more dangerous and holds the real key to the defeat of West.

I have often quoted Cicero saying, in 42 B.C.E.:

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the galleys, heard in the very hall of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor - he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and wears their face and their garment, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation - he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city - he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared.

As true , as visionary, as Cicero’s words were in his day, they are at least as much if not even more true today! But even those who refuse to pick up the gauntlet and would rather sit idly by the side, are seditious under the circumstances… As George Orwell said in the Partisan Review, in 1942:

Pacifism is objectively pro-Fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side, you automatically help out that of the other.

In the early 20s Oswald Spengler noted in his Decline Of the West, that because of a loss of spirituality in the West we are ripe for disintegration and takeover by a more committed people. The current Pope, a few month ago, talking about the de-Christianization of Europe alluded at that same loss of spirituality in the West. Churches and synagogues preach a love of life and remain more empty than full, fiery extremists Imams preach the cult of death and their mosques are filled with enthusiastic believers…

We muslims are more zealous about our religion, and you can guarantee that almost every muslim government is going to take part, while not every non muslim government is going to take part because of the lack of interest for them.

Unless we, the infidels, in the West wake up and are willing to step out of our artificial comfort zone and face the threat, rather than be lulled to sleep by false prophets (bought and paid for by the would be conquerors!), unless we are willing to rise and take decisive action… Cartman, as quoted above will be proven 100% right!

Think about it, gentle reader, think about these words very carefully… What will it take for the Western masses to wake up and smell the danger while they still have time to act?

A Clear Message to Ahmedinajad and the US

At this past week’s summit in the beautiful Sharm Al-Sheikh resort, in the Sinai peninsula, where Iraq’s security and future were discussed, the putrid little maggot, Ahmedinajad and his handlers the Ayatollahs were sent a message, as the Editor-in-Chief of the Arab Times sees it. On his Opinion piece from yesterday, Saturday, May the 5th, he writes:

[…]Participants of the Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit decided the US cannot leave Iraq at this juncture to ensure it won’t fall prey to Iran, which is trying to take over this Arab country using its sectarian influence, and the might of its militias and the Revolutionary Guards.Iran should understand the message of this summit and realize the fact that all issues concerning Arabs are represented by Saudi Arabia and Egypt, the two biggest Arab countries. Tehran should know it cannot challenge these two countries because any such move will affect all Iranians and cause alarm bells to ring peace in the Gulf region. Iran should know Arab countries don’t want to see their neighbouring country attacked for its arrogance.

The Iranian regime should understand its real size and limitations, and the role it can play. Leaders of the regime should realize they are not ruling a superpower but a developing country, which is incapable of playing certain roles which don’t suit the rest of the world.

On the sidelines of the Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met Syrian Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Moalem. In the meeting Al-Moalem received a clear message that Syria should wear its original Arab outfit and not somebody else’s clothes. This means Damascus should not help Iran or try to change the reference of Arab issues.
All countries in the Gulf region seek stability and security. They believe only a local and strong country, which does not suffer poverty, unemployment, idle factories, stagnant export and import activities can play a meaningful and substantial role in this issue.

Both Syria and Iran are incapable of playing a substantial international role. Tehran’s attempt to continue with its nuclear programme to increase its “weight” won’t succeed as long as Iran is not self sufficient and suffers a sluggish economy.
The Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit has brought Iraq back under the umbrella of Arab countries. It has returned Arab reference to its original owners and proved that the United States is still capable of leading the world. The summit has proved the Americans have not retreated or weakened. It has also confirmed the United States has not and will not attempt to deal with any “accidental” party other than a reliable Arab reference.

Before I comment let me also quote from his editorial of today: Sunday. May 6th.

IT appears the message of Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit has reached Iran and Syria faster than we expected because Damascus has described the summit the beginning of a thousand miles journey. As the torch-bearers of Sunnis Saudi Arabia and Egypt have launched an initiative to reduce the debts of Iraq and voice their protest against Iraq becoming a battleground to settle the disputes between the United States and Iran.

Tehran, which has also got the message, has chosen to confront the Americans and describe them as supporters of terrorism in Iraq. Tehran believes terrorist activities exploded in Iraq after its occupation by the United States and considers this a good reason to create tense relations with Saudi Arabia. The reaction to the Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit has been fast. The summit’s message to Iran was firm and strict. The Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit ordered Tehran to understand its real size, reconsider its regional policies and quit trying to be a reference for Arab issues.

Maybe Iran can support Arab issues, but it doesn’t have the authority to compete and take over the historical reference of the Sunni sect because this role belongs to Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Shiites in Iraq should react to these messages as they don’t belong to Al-Faqaih of Iran as a reference. They should understand their interests are linked to cooperating with the Americans in Iraq. Currently Iran is under pressure to abandon its role in Lebanon, Iraq and Palestine. If it doesn’t it should expect the return of a new Sultan Saleem of the Ottoman Empire, who ended the Sufi movement of Ismail Shah over 500 years ago. The Sufi movement was based on planting hatred against Arabs for the killing of Imam Al-Hussein (PBUH) and members of Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) family.

The Iranian regime, which is still being influenced by the movement of Ismail Shah, wants to control the faith of over 1.6 billion Sunni Muslims. By ordering Iran to get out of Lebanon and Iraq, and leave the Palestinians alone the Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit stands as a high and solid wall in the face of Tehran’s plans.

The Syrian regime, which considers these orders as the first phase, still has a good opportunity to join the Arab Sunni reference. For this Damascus should stop being a follower of the Iranian regime, which as a minority cannot stand long against Saudi Arabia which played a vital role in giving Iran a second opportunity to avoid further escalations. The Iranian regime has to come back to its senses, especially since the wind is not blowing in the direction of its sail.

In short, gentle reader, the Arab world fully recognizes that not only are today’s Iranian leaders a main source of instability in the region, but they unequivocally declared that an early American exit from Iraq, would mean a disaster for the region and the world at large.

There is also another message here, just as important though somewhat less visible, by ordering Iran to get out of Lebanon and Iraq, and leave the Palestinians alone the Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit stands as a high and solid wall in the face of Tehran’s plans. Ahmed Al-Jarallah, who penned both opinions quoted above, also said this past summer at the beginning of Lebanon II, The operations of Israel in Gaza and Lebanon are in the interest of people of Arab countries and the interrnational community. Perhaps, the Arab nation, however reluctantly, and strictly because of its own selfish interest may be signaling Israel that the time for talks has come…

We can discuss ad nauseum whether the US should or should not have gotten into Iraq, but even those who are totally against the coalition forces being in Iraq must concede that the past cannot be changed. Thus we must decide how do we proceed from here. Do we leave Iraq at a previously specified date, thereby causing the whole Middle East to destabilize and igniting a war that will eventually enmesh the entire world in its net? Or do we finish the job, while putting pressure on the democratically elected Iraqi government to step up to the plate and take full responsibility for its country’s re-entry into the brotherhood of civilized nations?

Participants of the Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit decided the US cannot leave Iraq at this juncture… The Summit, where the immense majority of participants were Arab nations but also included the US and representatives of Russia and the European Union, has made it absolutely clear that pandering to Iran would not stem the tide of war, that leaving Iraq at a predetermined date would only embolden the insurgency and destroy the region. Moreover, the summit served notice to the Iranians that, that the United States is still capable of leading the world. The summit has proved the Americans have not retreated or weakened.

Perhaps, Pelosi, Reid, et al will listen to the region’s leaders and their interests, as opposed to listening to George Soros and Moveon.org. Arab leaders are feeling threatened by the US Congress latest moves and, frankly, as long as we have not developed alternate energy sources, the Arabs are much needed. At the same we must understand and let them know, they need the West even more than we need them. The Levant is still a poor, backward area where the ruling elite are the only ones who enjoy a decent standard of living. They desperately need those petrodollars even more than we need their oil.

Yet, the Democrat Party’s strings are pulled by those whose extreme ideas would never get them elected even as dogcatchers. George Soros said right before the last election, right after he spent a fortune (which more than 99% of us will never see in a whole lifetime of hard work) on moveon.org and other such organizations that if George Bush becomes President, he George Soros would join a monastery. Unfortunately his words, like the shreds of his honor, are worthless! Shouldn’t a man of honor, a man of such preeminence have kept his promises rather than continue to shove his bankrupt ideas down the throats of a people who doesn’t want them? Yet Pelosi, Reid and the rest of the Democrats willingly take their cue from such unelected, unelectable, political thugs!

Madame Pelosi, now wants to meet with Chávez, an opportunist increasingly acquiring the full trappings of a dictator. She recently, in spite of requests to the contrary by the State Department, traveled to Syria to rescue Baby Assad from the ranks of international political pariahs. While there, in a goodwill gesture she not only covered her hair with expensive (and stylishly beautiful!) Hermès Scarves as she visited the Damascus market but interestingly… she uncovered her hair and showed her liberal side, when alone with baby Assad… Now she is making new overtures in an effort to meet and hold, close to her bosom, that putrid little maggot, Ahmedinajad…

It is interesting that while hobnobbing with America’s enemies, with those who are trampling on all human rights and killing innocents she would not meet with Colombia’s President Alvaro Uribe, who not only managed to disarm paramilitary groups in his country but has destroyed thousand of acres of cocaine growing fields while Chávez was cited in a UN study as an international drug dealer… If she is truly concerned with human rights violations should she not be consistent in her choice of dancing partners?

It is interesting to note that Pelosi, who run a campaign of ridding Washington of corruption and excessive pork to every bill leaving Congress on its way to the White House, has sent more pork in her first 100 days than any of her predecessors while accomplishing a hell of a lot less than any of her predecessors. It is interesting to note that while she has no interest in meeting America’s friends, she is tripping over herself to rush and embrace America’s enemies. Unless the Democratic Party is willing to return again to be the party of the likes Zel Miller, the party that made America great, a Democratic victory in 2008 only spells the demise of America and the fruition of George Soros’ fondest dream.

MS-13 in Tennessee

La Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13 is referred to as a dangerous gang, but they are more than a gang. They are murderers, rapists, thieves, and terrorists. They are a violent international criminal organization composed primarily of immigrants (many illegal aliens) or descendants of immigrants from El Salvador.

Now they are in Tennessee. The Department of Justice announced the indictment of 13 members of MS-13 today which alleges that gang members killed three people and attempted to kill at least seven others. The indictment further alleges that MS-13 was organized in "cliques," including the Thompson Place Locos Salvatruchos clique (TPLS), which operated in Nashville.

Marasalvatruchamember (MS-13 member with common tattoos) The MS-13 gang has cliques, or factions, located throughout the United States and is unique in that it retains its ties to its Salvadoran counterparts. In 2005, the FBI declared Mara Salvatrucha to be the most dangerous gang not only in the United States, but the entire globe.

Membership is believed to total over 50,000 in the United States alone. MS-13 criminal activities include drug smuggling and sales, black market gun sales, human trafficking, assassinations for hire, theft, and assaults on law enforcement officials. (Wikipedia)

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the 13 have been 'indicted by a federal grand jury in the Middle District of Tennessee on charges that they conspired to participate in a violent RICO enterprise responsible for killings and other violent crimes.

The one-count racketeering indictment names the following 13 individuals, all of whom are currently in federal or state custody:

* Oscar Serrano, a/k/a "Diablin"

* Escolastico Serrano, a/k/a "Chito"

* Omar Hirbin Gomez, a/k/a "Lil Homie"

* David Alexander Gonzalez, a/k/a "Psycho"

* Ernesto Isai Mendez-Tovar, a/k/a "Joker," a/k/a "Choey"

* Francisco Dago Mendez, a/k/a "Silent"

* Walter Hernandez, a/k/a "Spanky"

* Henry Garballo-Vasquez, a/k/a "Cuervo"

* Eliseo Iglesias, a/k/a "Smokey"

* Ronald Fuentes, a/k/a "Spia"

* Ericka Cortez, a/k/a "Shorty"

* Geovanni Pena, a/k/a "Rata," and

* Jose Alfaro, a/k/a "Liche." (source)

Assistant Attorney General Fisher said, "We will utilize the same tools we used to put Mafia leaders behind prison bars to confront the threat posed by violent criminal enterprises like the MS-13." Tennessee has a problem with illegal aliens, and some MS-13 members fall into that category. They 'originated in Los Angeles and quickly spread across the country, including to Middle Tennessee, and currently include approximately 10,000 members in at least 10 states, Mexico, Honduras and El Salvador, making it one of the largest street gangs in the United States.'

"MS 13 makes up one percent of one percent of the Latino community in Nashville," said Jim Cavanaugh with the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms). [snip]

If convicted, the defendants face life in prison. (source)

More on illegals in Tennessee from stickNstein, An Illegal Immigration Magnet…….Tennessee Lawmakers talk Tough…… :

An article at The Tennessean.com says folks are getting mad and the new crop of politicians coming back to the Capitol for this years’ session are feeling it.
“This is my country. I fought for this country. I hold this country deeply in my heart,” said Brown, 40, of Hermitage. “I am not going to let illegal immigrants come in and intimidate us.”

His sentiments are held by many in Middle Tennessee — part of a broader national chorus calling out for something to be done about illegal immigration. The National Conference of State Legislatures last week forecast that illegal immigration would be the hottest issue for legislators across the country this year.

KEEPING UP THE HEAT……..Politicians in Washington as well as State Legislatures think the half hearted, un-funded, and un-enforced excuses for legislation passed to get themselves re-elected
last year have lulled Americans to sleep about illegal immigration. [snip]

But a Tennessee lawmaker STATED:

“We need to demagnetize the state. We need to stop Tennessee from being a magnet for illegal immigrants,”said Rep. Glen Casada, R-Franklin.

Maybe Tennessee is finally waking up to the big problem we have here. Getting rid of MS-13 members is a good first step.

A Discombobulated Rant

And I mean this from the bottom of my heart!
Everything America does is lambasted, castigated, and downplayed as some evil attempt to take over the world. Israel, despite it's military advantage, refuses to decimate the Middle East, yet is accused of being the biggest detriment to peace. State sponsored terrorism gets a pass while the states trying to prevent this terrorism are considered the evil ones. Despite all of the blood, effort, and treasure that the United States as given to the world, it is looked upon as the unwanted neighbor. Israel, just wanting to be left alone, is continuously hounded and attacked because it is a Jewish State in a sea of despotic Islamic one's. The truth is out there for all to see yet it is ignored. It's better to feel good about ourselves than face the facts and have to do something we don't like.

The United Nations is now beyond mere contempt. It is even beyond laughable. It has shown itself to be nothing but a moneypit. There is no such thing as international law. Despite all this rhetoric of globalization, countries will not surrender their sovereignty and the UN has no power to enforce anything they say. How many more people will be slaughtered in Somalia or Sudan while the UN talks of treaties and pacts? The Islamic Courts in Africa refuse to acknowledge anything the UN comes up with so why should we? Ahmadinejad gets away with his defiance. Assad is able to run and hide from UN investigations. Saddam spit in the eye of the UN for over a decade and the UN did nothing. Milosovic never did suffer the UN to have any say in his country."Never Again" is a tragic joke.

Without the United States what would this world be like? I'm not talking commercially, I'm talking morally. If it weren't for US action in Bosnia what would have happened? What happened in Somalia when the US ran? What happened when the US didn't march to Baghdad the first time? What happened when the US withdrew support from Afghanistan after pushing out the Soviets? What happened when the US withdrew support from the South Vietnamese government? What happened when the US agreed to halt at the 38th parallel? What happened when the US remained aloof as the Shah was toppled? Where is the rest of the world when it comes to fighting evil and oppression? Why is it the US that has to send it's boys and girls to die while others spit at us?

History has proven that the greater force always wins. Not the greatest numbers of troops or the most advanced weaponry. The greatest force of will.America has lost it's will because of the continuous denigration and unappreciative actions of our so-called allies and friends. The truth be told, we have very few friends in the world. The world is made up of a bunch of evil, wicked, selfish, envious self-aggrandizing jerks that take more pleasure out of our discomfort than they do their own potential. Instead of making their societies better they would rather degrade and slow ours. If they can't catch up to us they want to bring us back to them. Because we are a compassionate nation we are an easily swayed target. They don't have to drag us back, we go willingly. All in the name of compassion.

Enough already. Let Europe fall under the weight of it's socialist utopia. Let Russia commit suicide by running an economy based on deceit and fraud. Let China overpopulate itself and crumble. Let Iran, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and any other Despotic Middle East Nation destroy itself. The Bible states that the Arab will be a wildman always fighting. Let them be. If they want to kill each other so be it. Don't let another American life be wasted to protect these selfish hatemongering jerks.

Israel is a friend and an ally. They are a nation that truly needs us. Even if they were located in a sea of bliss, they would need us. We helped found them, we need to live up to the responsibility that comes with that. Protect them. Help provide them with what they need to defend themselves. In fact, help them attain what they need to defeat the enemy they are surrounded by. By doing this, we help defend ourselves.

A Rant Of A Higher Order
- Open Season
Radical idea, outlaw Islam. It is an ideology that has proven to be lethal, even in small doses. It is not a religion. It is a complete way of life. It rules the day to day goings on of anybody who practices it. How many more people must be murdered in the name of allah before the full impact of Islam is realized? Momo believes there is a 12th Imam, let's help bring him back. Mecca, Medina, gone. Teheran, decimated. Anybody else want to be a target? What happens when the Islamic "holy sites" are annihilated? Does allah come to help his people? When allah does nothing and there are no longer any Islamic "holy sites" left will the mohammedans realize that they have been duped for centuries? Will they turn on the Imams and clerics? Will they turn on their governments? No. They're idiots. They'll still blame us. They'll find some excuse for why allah didn't defend them. Well here's one, MY GOD IS GREATER THAN YOURS. Allah is a figment of a pedophilic warmongers imagination. If he does exist I'm sure he doesn't sit on a throne in Heaven. I digress.

The world is falling apart and is causing all the damage itself. The "World Community" is a fraud. People are not willing to fight or defend freedom. In fact, people are willing to sell freedom down the river just to be left alone and as comfortable as they can be. In America, this movement is being led by the left. In Europe, the left has already won out. In the Middle East it is the fascistic Islamists that are winning. We're still wait and see in Africa. Africa may turn out to be a bastion of hope afterall, only time will tell.

Virgil H. Goode Jr.'s Muslim Remarks

Click for Video
"About as American as they come..."

From the LA Times:

WASHINGTON — Rep. Virgil H. Goode Jr. (R-Va.) on Thursday stood by his demand for strict immigration controls that he said would prevent Muslims from being elected to Congress and using the Koran during swearing-in ceremonies.

Islamic groups in the United States called on Republicans to repudiate Goode's remarks, which he first made in a letter attacking the use of the holy book in a ceremonial oath-taking next month by the first Muslim elected to the House.

"I do not apologize, and I do not retract my letter," Goode said emphatically during a session Thursday with reporters in the southern Virginia town of Rocky Mount.

Questioned later on Fox News Channel's "Your World," he said, "I am for restricting immigration so that we don't have a majority of Muslims elected to the House of Representatives."

The incoming House member at the center of the controversy, Keith Ellison, told CNN's "The Situation Room" on Thursday that he could trace his ancestors to Louisiana as far back as 1742. "I'm about as American as they come," said Ellison, who converted to Islam in college.

The Minnesota Democrat said he planned to use the Koran only as part of an unofficial individual swearing-in before friends and supporters. That event will follow the official ceremony in which all House members raise their right hands and pledge their allegiance to the Constitution and the laws of the United States, without resting their left hands on anything.

Goode said Thursday that he wrote the letter in response to constituents who e-mailed him about Ellison's decision to use the Koran. In the letter, he said his own ceremony would be different.

When I raise my hand to take the oath on swearing-in day, I will have the Bible in my other hand," Goode wrote. "I do not subscribe to using the Koran in any way…."

I fear," he wrote, "that in the next century we will have many more Muslims in the United States if we do not adopt the strict immigration policies that I believe are necessary to preserve the values and beliefs traditional to the United States of America."

So the man is entitled to his own opinion. I don't hear the mainstream media screaming about CAIR Chairman Omar M. Ahmad telling a crowd of California Muslims in July 1998,

"Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran . . . should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth."

Does anyone really think the agenda has changed since 1998? Did 9/11 create a change of heart in American Muslims "religious sensitivities"?

Ask a Muslim if the Koran has changed and you will have an answer.

As for my opinion--

I signed Jihadi Du Jour up for a certain advertiser and it was rejected for promoting and supporting intolerance. I replied to the rejection e-mail with, "Whose intolerance? Mine or the Jihadists?". I guess some won't realise where they are until they are under Sharia.

Do you feel safer?

On September 10, 2001, I never dreamed of the United States being attacked as it was on September 11, 2001. For many people like me it was a harsh wake-up to reality. Over the years since 9/11 the question keeps coming up, mostly from politicians, 'do you feel safer now'. My answer is a very loud 'yes' if we are referring to attacks from outside the United States. If the question refers to attacks from within the United States, my answer is increasingly becoming a very loud NO. The reason is very simple, we are asking for it with our politically correct, multicultural fear of saying or doing anything that might offend Islam.

Our enemy just has to sit back and wait a few years, until we allow Islam to get it's roots fully dug into our culture here on American soil. My friend Always on Watch brought this to my attention, Islamicizing Christmas (Hat tip to Nanc):

Have yourself a Muslim little Christmas
From the December 16, 2006 edition of the Tennessean (image found here):

Gov. Phil Bredesen [Democrat, Tennessee] has given an unusual twist to his family's Christmas card: He is marking a Christian holiday with a card depicting a Muslim girl.

The card's cover is a print of a painting by the governor of a young woman he met when he toured Afghanistan in March.

For Christ's sake, it is CHRISTMAS! What is this Tennessee man thinking. He is just proving what a nice little dhimmi he is. He has surrendered without a fight.

A local conservative Christian minister also wasn't sure [of the intended message of the governor's card].

"If he is saying Christmas is about honoring all religions, I don't agree," said the Rev. Maury Davis of Cornerstone Church in Madison. source

I don't agree either. But Bredesen didn't even make Muslims happy with his Islamic Christmas card, as AOW points out:

And at least one Muslim has criticized the card. In happy-holiday wishes for Christians, Khaled Sakalla, spokesman for the Islamic Center of Nashville, has voiced criticism of the card: ...[I]f the governor saw a Muslim woman in Afghanistan as depicted — with her head partially uncovered — that's not the Muslim dress code.

"Women shouldn't have their faces fully covered, nor should they have their hair half-uncovered," Sakalla said.

Bear Creek Ledger, who is also in Tennessee, says:

Looks to me like he’s using a Christian holiday to pander to a religion that has nothing to do with Christmas. Why not put a Menorah on the card then?

Bredesen and his ilk need to listen to Rick Santorum. Mr. Santorum understands the threat we are against from Islam. The HILL Chronicles has audio of Mr. Santorum's 'farewell speech' and text can be read here. He calls the enemy 'evil' and he recognizes their goal, 'a world without America and Zionism'.

Is that goal possible? Yes, if we continue to submit inch-by-inch here inside America. Mr. Santorum quotes Bernard Lewis who said: "...that the oddity in particular of the Arab and Middle Eastern Islamic world is that the more we have strong relations with the government in an Arab Muslim country the more the people of that country hate us; and the more that we stand up and confront leadership of those countries the more the people like us."

The enemy thrives on the weakness of it's enemy. When Americans are weak and submissive it only enables the enemy to win this war. Trying to negotiate with Syria and Iran is a sign of weakness. They do not want to negotiate, they will not give up anything. North Korea knows what they are doing. Every time they have a little nuclear hissy-fit, we give them something. We show weakness.

We let Hugo Chavez come here in our home and slap us in the face. Weakness on our part. We tell Hamas 'no more money' until you recognize Israel's right to exist. Then we turn around and give them money. Weakness again.

Hezbollah may right now have established bases in Venezuela which have issued thousands of visas to people from places such as Cuba and the Middle East, possibly giving them passports to a vague United States border security.

... with the help of Venezuela, Cuba and China are now exploring for oil within 50 miles of the coast of the United States, while the Senate blocks a measure to allow us to explore for oil within 100 miles of our own shore. So while China, Cuba, and Venezuela draw oil from our shores, we stand idly by and let them do it to arm against us. source

Again we show weakness and the enemy takes advantage. We have cowards and traitors in our midst calling themselves politicians and patriots. This week we have a military build up in the Gulf, but our government was quick to reassure Tehran that we have no intention of attacking them or starting a war. I thought having a military presence was supposed to put the fear of God into our enemies. I guess I was wrong.

We worry about Iran with nuclear bombs, but my friend says, "With Pakistan and Russia selling the technology to all comers and Iran making all effort to get The Bomb, the Islamists have the Bomb."

Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Algeria, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Israel, Libya, China and Britain all either possess or are persuing nuclear weapons.

We allow CAIR to determine what we can say and do about Islam in this country. We allow rogue imams to set what security measures we take on our passenger jets. We're afraid of offending anyone and we pur security in second place over political correctness.

Do I feel safer today? No, not from what is taking place inside our borders. Wake up folks. There is nothing accidental about what's going on. It is all written in the book, the Koran. It has been practiced for centuries. Wake up. Take back America from the PC police, from the 'we must not offend Islam or Muslims' crowd. We are a Christian nation and we can't even celebrate the birth of our savior without putting a Muslim on our Christmas cards? The White House can't send out an official card with the word Christmas on it? Just bend over and kiss America good-bye.

Americans seized in Iraq after convoy hijack

Former Iraq Prime Minister Blames America!...of course.Daylight Mayhem In Iraq.

From an article By Aref Mohammed:

SAFWAN, Iraq (Reuters) - British and U.S. forces mounted raids in southern Iraq on Friday in the hunt for four Americans and an Austrian kidnapped when the civilian convoy they were guarding was hijacked, Iraqi security sources said.

British troops cordoned off an area of the city of Basra on Friday in what the Iraqi sources told Reuters was a raid based on suspicion the five missing men were held there. A spokesman for the British forces policing the region declined all comment.
From the nearby town of Zubayr, a policeman said U.S. troops had raided the police station there, apparently seeking the hostages. British and U.S. officials have often accused police of working in league with militants hostile to foreign forces.

Police in the border town of Safwan, 60 km (40 miles) south of Basra, showed reporters an armored four-wheel drive vehicle they said the foreigners were driving in when the truck convoy was brought to a halt by gunmen on Thursday after crossing the border from Kuwait on its way to the city of Nassiriya.

Nine Iraqis were also abducted by the gunmen but at least some had already been released, a security source said. Their Kuwaiti employer said only the foreigners were still missing.

A representative of the Crescent Security Group in Kuwait said: "We don't know exactly what happened." The incident had occurred around noon, between Safwan and Zubayr.

Do you think that the daylight raids and activities, along with the implication of so-called allies, shows an emboldened new enemy since the elections?

The incident comes at a time of heightened sectarian tension in Baghdad, not just on the streets but within the government and among groups engaged in the U.S.-backed political process.

Iraq's most prominent Sunni cleric, Harith al-Dari of the Muslim Clerics Association, blasted an arrest warrant issued for him on suspicion of "terrorism" as an attempt by the Shi'ite-led coalition government to divert attention from its own "crimes."

Sunni leaders like Dari, who is safe from arrest in neighboring Jordan, complain that Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is not doing enough to rein in militias loyal to his Shi'ite allies and which were blamed for a mass kidnapping of dozens of staff from a Sunni-run government ministry on Tuesday.

Democracy is not an easy thing to swallow for people who have swallowed the backward teachings of Mohammed and are still stuck in the 8th century. And America is getting ready to just hand them a pass with all this rhetoric of withdrawl and timestables resonating from the new American congressional leadership.

Training The Lazy Iraqis

Video by GuardianFilms and BBC Newsnight
Iraq:The Real Story

From Neil Doyle and the Guardian Unlimited:

Sean Smith, the Guardian's award-winning war photographer, spent nearly six weeks with the 101st Division of the US army in Iraq. Watch his haunting observational film that explodes the myth around the claims that the Iraqis are preparing to take control of their own country.

I know I know...BBC stands for Broadcasting Biased Coverage but this clip does bring you very close to some of the difficulties of training a backward, ingrained, and "lazy" people.

To be fair: here is the OTHER real story of Iraq.

Pelosi's war blunder

All We Are Saying--Is Give Dems A Chance!
Buy This Print

From the Washington Times Op/Ed page, By Jack Kingston:

In a stunning performance on "60 Minutes," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi proved again why she cannot be trusted to keep America safe from the threat of global terrorism and Islamic extremists.

Mrs. Pelosi demonstrated that she does not understand the global nature of the threat when she stated flatly "the war on terror is the war in Afghanistan." She may think the war is limited to Afghanistan, but where does al Qaeda believe the war is? Al Qaeda's No. 2 man, Ayman al-Zawahiri, in a letter to the leaders of al Qaeda in Iraq, was clear about the location of the global jihad and the importance of victory in Iraq:

"Victory of Islam will never take place until a Muslim state is established in the manner of the Prophet in the heart of the Islamic world ... As for the battles that are going on in the far flung regions of the Islamic world, such as Chechnya, Afghanistan, Kashmir, and Bosnia, they are just the groundwork and the vanguard for the major battles which have begun in the heart of the Islamic world."

Zawahiri reminds Iraqi terrorists, like Abu Musab Zarqawi, that God has blessed them "with the splendor of the spearhead of Jihad." Translation: Islamic fascists led by al Qaeda are fighting a global jihad to establish a Muslim caliphate from Egypt to Iraq. They will attack anyone, anywhere, with any means, that will further their violent cause.

Tourists in Indonesia, embassy workers in Africa, commuters in Spain and London, schoolchildren in Russia, office workers in New York and Washington, and 40 Americans on a plane over Pennsylvania could all tell Nancy Pelosi where the war on terror is, if their voices had not been silenced.

For Mrs. Pelosi, Iraq is not even part of the war on Islamic terrorism, while for our terrorist enemies Iraq is "the spearhead of jihad." Zawahiri's letter details a four-part strategy for global jihad starting with Iraq; "the first stage: expel the Americans from Iraq." In this first stage at least, Zawahiri seems to have found his "useful idiot" in Mrs. Pelosi.

She acknowledges that there are terrorists in Iraq, but naively submits that "they'll stay as long as we're there. They're there because we're there." What Mrs. Pelosi doesn't say is where she thinks the terrorists will go if we leave Iraq to fall into chaos. According to Mrs. Pelosi, our presence created the terrorists and when we leave they will put down their suicide belts and IEDs. She might want to read the rest of al Qaeda's plan before she is so sure:

"The second stage: Establish an Islamic authority ... over as much territory as you can to spread its power in Iraq ... in order to fill the void stemming from the departure of the Americans ... The third stage: Extend the jihad wave to the secular countries neighboring Iraq ... The fourth stage: It may coincide with what came before: the clash with Israel."

Our actions to liberate Iraq from the butcher of Baghdad did not cause Islamic terrorists, but our premature departure will surely embolden them. Zawahiri's letter exhorts his followers to learn the lessons of history as "things may develop faster than we imagine. The aftermath of the collapse of American power in Vietnam and how they ran and left their agents is noteworthy... we must take the initiative and impose a fait accompli upon our enemies."

While we may not have entered Iraq to defeat al Qaeda, there is no doubt that al Qaeda has entered Iraq to defeat us and begin the defeat of all nations in the region who do not share their extreme view of an Islamic caliphate, under strict Sunni rule, stretching across the entire Middle East. Like Osama bin Laden's fatwas declaring war on the United States and the civilized world, Zawahiri points to American retreat from Vietnam for inspiration. Maybe Mrs. Pelosi can answer how giving al Qaeda what they want in Iraq will keep Americans safe and secure from Islamic terrorism in the future.

Al Qaeda knows that they are in a war with many fronts. Zawahiri concludes that "more than half of this battle is taking place in the battlefield of the media ... we are in a media battle in a race for the hearts and minds of our umma (people)." Part of the battle against terrorism is taking place in our media as well. Last week, Mrs. Pelosi lost one battle for our side. America cannot take the risk that she will lose the war.

Rep. Jack Kingston, Georgia Republican, is vice chairman of the House Republican Conference and a member of the Defense Appropriations Committee

Well put. Many will say that the Republicans use scare tactics to control the vote. Tell me...is there ANY REASON NOT TO BE AFRAID?

What The Palestinian Authority Really Thinks About The Jews

'The Jews Are To Blame For Everything'--The winner of the Iranian Holocaust Cartoon contest--tasty huh?
The following is the bulk of an article published last week in "Al Hayat Al Jadida", the official Palestinian Authority newspaper. These are the people that the EU and the UN have glorified as oppressed and peace-loving. I offer no commentary, as none is needed. The highlights are mine. Special thanks to Palestinian Media Watch.

"Since the downfall of the former Soviet Union in 1991, the US became the sole superpower in the world, heralding the idea of ‘The new American era.’ Jews implanted in the [nerve] centers of the American nation created theories about this idea which they adopted. This term is based on the fact that the entire world has to be stamped with the seal of Americanization, and that all of the world's countries will be governed by one government, located in New York…

"There is one global stock market situated in New York, and it is controlled by Jews. This stock market guides the currency markets in all of the world, sets the price of gold, and ultimately the value of various currencies around the world…

"In order for this idea to be realized, it was necessary to initiate [lit: to spark] wars, because wars, according to the custom of the Jews, are the only means that can bring about the desired change. The [wars] uproot the opponents, as they did in the first and second World Wars, so that had they [the wars] not happened, the United States would have not taken over the world, and the Jews would have not reached the center of this dominance. And so, wars are very necessary, and in order to justify initiating wars, the theory of the 'clash of civilizations' of Samuel Huntington appeared, which argues that the current century will witness a clash of civilizations in the world, as Western civilization will clash with the Islamic civilization and Buddhist civilization. The American media circles, which are connected to the Zionist Jewish lobby, took it upon themselves to propagate this theory which spread everywhere and left all nations with an intense sense of fear…

"At that moment, the events of September 11, 2001 took place, and these were used as an excuse to start the global wars of subjugation. The first target chosen was Afghanistan, claiming that those who carried out the September attacks came from there… This invasion was justified with the 'just war' theory, even though Afghanistan was not an immediate threat to the US…

"Once the invasion of Afghanistan was successful, the Jews began planning the invasion of Iraq claiming that it poses a serious threat to the American national security. The Jewish propaganda played a big role in exaggerating the Iraqi danger, until Iraq was portrayed as a monster threatening to swallow the world. The US began preparing for the Iraqi invasion as the next step in the project of global wars… and it conquered Iraq and destroyed the Iraqi nation, and the Jews thought that, with the destruction of Iraq, they would force the other Arab nations to fully and voluntarily surrender to their will. But later events disappointed them, as [armed] resistance burst forth in Iraq, which complicated their domination plans, and buried their hope to create a new pro-Israeli Iraq …

"In conclusion, the role of the Jews in bolstering the inclination to evil, and fuelling its fire, and provoking wars, such as the war against Iraq, will inevitably cause the downfall of the American military power. When this power falls, it will mean the end of Western civilization, and the beginning of World War III which will erase everything and leave nothing behind, resulting in the end of the American empire as a superpower."

Iraq asks troops to stay as U.S. death toll spikes

The title sounds like a bad Halloween joke (thank Reuters for the creepy spin) but...

Speaking shortly after a bomb killed 28 people in a Baghdad Shi'ite slum on a day that saw at least 70 Iraqis killed across the country, Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari told Reuters: "The presence of the Multi-National Force is indispensable for the security and stability of Iraq and of the region at the moment."

And he is right. Even if he sounds republican.

A marine killed on Sunday in western Anbar province, where troops are fighting Sunni insurgents, and an unidentified member of the military police shot dead by a sniper in east Baghdad took the U.S. military death toll to 101 so far in October.

It was 71 last month, and last passed 100 in January 2005. In all, 2,814 Americans have died in the Iraq conflict.

Commanders say October's increase is partly due to attacks in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Since militants released a video during last week's festival for the end of Ramadan showing U.S. soldiers being shot, apparently by snipers, the military has also been looking more closely at shooting incidents.

Ahmadinejad's Ultimatums

It's good to read the words of those who have declared war against us, lest we forget that this IS a Global war on Terrorism and forget the danger we are in by politicizing the war that was waged against us.

On October 20, 2006, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gave an address to the Iranian people really, it was a rant). The address was aired on Jaam-e Jam 1 TV. Here are some excerpts ....

Here's looking at you, kid!Mahmoud Ahmadinejad:
This [Zionist regime] was established in order to swallow up the entire region, and to place it at the disposal of the world forces. It is a big lie that it was done in order to protect those killed in World War II, and in order to compensate them.

Over 60 million people were killed in World War II. Let's assume you are right, and six million [Jews] were among those killed. How come none of you mourn the other 54 million? Why don't you pay reparations to them? Why don't you ever think about them? All your sorrow, your pity, your mourning cries are over [victims] who were counted by I don't know whom...

Obviously, some of the Western countries are being held hostage today by the Zionists. Some Western countries have been paying reparations for 60 years. We sent letters and messages, and asked them: "When will these relations, which evolved from World War II, come to an end?" A war broke out 60 years ago, and some considered themselves the victors in this war. They occupied Palestine. They set up bases throughout the world, and want to act aggressively against all the peoples. They also gave themselves privileges in the international forums, and the other peoples must submit to their control. We asked them when these relations would come to an end. We asked the leader of one of these countries: "Until when will your people have to pay reparations?" For two generations? Three generations? For a 100 years? A 1,000 years? A few thousand years?

The existence of this regime is so essential for these countries that in some of them, they even built monuments. You know that every country builds monuments for the objects of their pride. They take their children, from an early age, to show them these monuments, in order to help them develop their identity, and to instill in their memory the things that make them proud, in order to feel power and honor. In some of these countries, they set up monuments, whose purpose was to degrade that very nation. From an early age, they take their children and say to them: "Look, our ancestors were murderers. Our ancestors used to burn people. We are in debt."

Something happened three generations ago. Let's assume it was true. What is the crime of the youth born in Europe today? What is the crime of people living in the world today that they have to pay reparations so high they cannot even be calculated? The peoples have to pay any sum decreed by America and England. What is the reason for this? When will there be an end to these claims? What is their limit? What does America have to do with this? Why does America extort the world, under the pretext of the Holocaust? Why does England extort [the world]? Wasn't it England that laid the foundations for the fear that led the Jews to flee to the occupied lands?

They said: "We want to establish a place for the survivors." How many survivors were there? With false promises, you gathered the wretched people from Africa, South America, Asia, and North America, and you brought them there. You banished one people from its land, and you want to create another people by force. Why? Why? Are all those now living in Palestine survivors of the war? We asked [these Westerners]: "The current leader of the Zionist regime – where did his parents live? Where were they?" As you know, some of the leaders of the Zionist regime are in fact Iranians.

[...]

The life of this regime depended on military threat, military force, and the legend that it was invincible. Today, with God's grace, this false legend has collapsed, with the help of the young believers of Palestine, and thanks to the believing, self-sacrificing commanders of Hizbullah. Today, the Zionists do not feel secure even in their own homes, anywhere in the world.

Today, this community, which was gathered by force, and under false pretexts, and whose members were joined to one another by a paper-clip, in order to create a false illusion of a nation... Today, they have fallen apart. I declare here, loud and clear: With God's grace, this regime has lost the philosophy of its existence.

[...]

Watch your hands, Mamoud.

I said to them: If you do not agree, open the doors, open the gates, and allow these uninvited guests return to their countries. Let them return to their homeland. If the Western countries that support the Zionists feel sympathetic toward them, they should give them financial aid, so that they can live in their own countries.

[...]

We have some advice for the supporters of this regime. We say to them: First of all, do not seek a new crime. Every crime being perpetrated today, every youth who dies in Palestine today, every home that is demolished, and every incursion into the neighboring countries will be accredited to the supporters of this regime, and the nations will exact their revenge.

[…]

Our proposal is as follows: Since you brought [this regime] over there, you yourselves pick it up, by the arms and legs, and remove it from there. This will make the peoples of the region improve their attitude toward you. These will be the first steps to a long-lasting friendship with the peoples of the region. This will be to your advantage.

You may say: "We feel uncomfortable doing this, because the Zionists control our countries, the propaganda machinery is at their disposal, and if we want to gain voters, we need their money and their support. Therefore, we feel uncomfortable doing this."

Fine. We made you another proposal: Allow that which you advocate take place in Palestine. After all, you advocate democracy, and you claim that the peoples should control their own destiny. So let the Palestinian people decide upon its own path by means of a referendum. In response, you say: "We might lose our reputation." Our response is: You have no reputation left anyway! Where do you still have a reputation anywhere in the world?

In the recent war in Lebanon, you saw with your own eyes that the whole world was against you. Even in Argentina, where the Zionists devise conspiracies, generate strife, and put pressure on the Argentinean administration, the people took to the streets.

[...]

This [Zionist] regime is on the verge of death, and we advise you to start thinking about your long-term interests and long term relations with the peoples of the region. At the end of the day, these are all ultimatums. No-one should complain tomorrow. The things are stated clearly.

[...]

What is this Security Council anyway? The whole world knows that America and England are the enemies of the Iranian nation.

Crowd: Allah Akbar.

Allah Akbar.

Khamenei is the leader.

Death to those who oppose the rule of the jurisprudent

Death to America

Death to England

Death to the hypocrites and Saddam

Death to Israel

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: They have taken control of the leading positions in the Security Council, and have the right of veto, and they are prosecuting and judging us, and they want to carry out the verdict. Sir, this is the logic of pharaonic times. The days of this logic are over. The Security Council, in its present condition, is illegitimate. Its resolutions are illegitimate. Do you want to be the judges, the rulers, the prosecutors, and those who carry out the verdicts? These days are over. Nobody accepts this behavior of yours. Even the illiterate old women of the Himalayas will not accept this behavior of yours.

Wishing You Were Me.The islamofascists believe they defeated the what they once believed to be the invincible Israel in Lebanon. They are emboldened.

Ahmadinejad's proposal to Britain and the United States is to take Israel out of the Middle East in order to improve our relations with the Middle East. He then proposes that the West allow Palestine to determine their own destiny by destroying Israel.

He blames Israel for every bad thing that happens in the Middle East and of controling the world. He sees the failure of Israel to prevail in Lebanon as a sign from God that Israel is weakened and as he said, the world is against the West.

He then declares that Israel is on the verge of death and tells us clearly that these things are ultimatums.

He completely rejects the validity of the United Nations and any sanctions that are proposed.

There are those in the West who think we need to talk with Ahmadinejad and reason with him. How do you reason with an unreasonable man? With a meglamaniac actually.

Leaving Iraq would leave a vacuum there that Ahmadinejad would be more than happy to occupy. It is my belief he is already providing weapons for the insurgents. They are getting increasingly sophisticated weapons and al-Qaida operatives are coming there from all over the world.

The islamofascist are emboldened by the weak response of Israel to the invasions of hezbollah and hamas. They are emboldened by the media reports that the American people have turned against the war and are demanding the President pull troops out of Iraq. I have seen reports on islamic websites stating they expect American troops will be out of Iraq by the end of this year. They are celebrating the defeat of the Republicans in the upcoming elections and declaring victory over the mighty Amercian Army. They are emboldened.

They have been warning us, Osama bin Laden and Ahmadinejad, that they intend to destroy us. There has been a recent al-Qaida warning to Canada. Yet there are still those that refuse to hear the warnings and still insist on blaming the United States for their problems.

It's all part of Ahmadinejad's apocalyptic vision.

I think it's time we really listen to what our emeny is telling us.

Iraqi PM says ready to tackle militias

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's prime minister pledged on Wednesday to crack down on illegal militias after coming under pressure from Washington to take steps to curb violence and allow U.S. troops to go home.

But in a sign of challenges Iraqi leaders face in achieving "benchmarks" agreed with an impatient U.S. administration before congressional elections next month, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki was the object of fresh anger after an overnight raid by U.S. and Iraqi forces killed at least four people and wounded 20 in the Shi'ite stronghold of Sadr City in Baghdad.

The U.S. military said Iraqi special forces backed by U.S. airstrikes conducted the raid "to capture a top illegal armed group commander directing widespread death squad activity."

A relaxed-looking Maliki told a news conference he would deal with the militias: "The state is the only one that has the right to carry weapons," he said. "We will deal with anybody who is outside the law.

"Everyone now realizes that the existence of armed groups and militias harms the stability and unity of the state."

Maliki has struggled to balance the conflicting demands of his Shi'ite-led coalition government. Sectarian and militia violence has escalated, raising fears of a full-scale civil war.

Six months after Maliki took office, with vital support from Shi'ite cleric and militia leader Moqtada al-Sadr, he has made little headway on pledges to curb activity by militias.

Less than two weeks before the November 7 U.S. congressional elections that have put President George W. Bush's Republicans on the defensive over their Iraq strategy, ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and the military commander in Baghdad said on Tuesday success was still possible, and on a "realistic timetable."

Khalilzad said Iraqi leaders had agreed to a timetable of political and security measures and he expected "significant progress" on the steps in the next 12 months.

In the meantime, an opinion piece in WAPO titled "Insult to Injury in Iraq" by Frederick W. Kagan complains that the US wants the Iraqi government to take a larger role in governing...[?]

Such arguments have been latent in the Bush administration's Iraq strategy and explicit in Democratic critiques of that strategy for some time. Now Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has declared: "It's their country. . . . They're going to have to govern it, they're going to have to provide security for it, and they're going to have to do it sooner rather than later."

...The current crisis in Iraq is no more just an Iraqi problem than it has ever been. The U.S. military destroyed Iraq's government and all institutions able to keep civil order. It designated itself an "occupying force," thereby accepting the responsibility to restore and maintain such order. And yet U.S. Central Command never actually made establishing order and security a priority. Its commander throughout the insurgency, Gen. John Abizaid, has instead repeatedly declared that America's role is primarily to train Iraqi forces to put down their own rebellion and maintain order.

What destroyed government is Mr. Kagan refering to? Sadaam Hussein's? I imagine he would rather have a mass murderer's government puppets stayed in place to maintain "order and security"?

I think Frederick Kagan has missed the point. The US was always there to assist in establishing a new and free government in Iraq, with the intention of handing over power, at the right time. Perhaps Mr. Kagan's watch, along with most of the American left, is running a little fast.

Hamas wants to attack United States interests in Middle East

Hamas not only refuses to recognize Israel's right to exist, they now want to attack interests of the United States in the Middle East. They seem to be upset with President George W. Bush and the United States support of Israel. It seems the 'radicals' within Hamas are outnumbering the (dare I say it) moderates. Israeli intelligence believes that if Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas moves to dismiss the Hamas government in the next few weeks, the radical element in Hamas will go forward with attacks on US interests.

The U.S. consulate in Jerusalem has warned that Americans traveling in the Palestinian territories are no longer safe from kidnapping like Steve Centanni and Olaf Wigg, Fox News employees; and American aid worker, Michael Philips, 24, from Louisiana was kidnapped from Nablus. It seems the Palestinian people are blaming the United States for their problems when in reality they should be blaming themselves for voting for Hamas.

Commanders of the military wing of Hamas, the Islamist movement elected to power in the Palestinian territories earlier this year, are locked in a fierce debate over whether to launch terrorist attacks on U.S. targets in the Middle East. Despite its anti-American rhetoric, Hamas has until now refrained from any known terror strikes against the U.S.

. . . In furtive, underground meetings held in the West Bank and Gaza, a growing number of Hamas commanders say they are running out of patience with the U.S. and want to strike back. Insiders say the radicals are trying to exploit the exasperation within the movement at what they perceive as the Bush Administration's one-sided support of Israel and its attempts to press Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to dissolve the Hamas cabinet. source

Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said today, "I tell you with all honesty, we will not recognize Israel, we will not recognize Israel, we will not recognize Israel, ... We say we will be in every government, we will stay in the government." Even Iran's President Mahmoud Amadinejad said we should let the people vote who they want to lead them and let that be the end of it.
The Hamas leader ruled out a proposal by members of his own Hamas movement to form a new government of technocrats as a way of winning international support and ending a seven-month aid freeze.

"There are new scenarios, such as an emergency government, a technocrat government, or early elections," Haniyeh told the crowd in a packed soccer stadium. "They all aim at one thing, getting Hamas out of the government." [snip]

Haniyeh said his best offer to Israel was a temporary truce in return for establishment of a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with its capital in Jerusalem, over which Israel claims complete sovereignty. He also repeated demands for the release of thousands of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons source
