The Jihadi at the Gate and the Jihadi Within

For a Western mind to understand a Jihadi is hard, if not nearly impossible. The logic seems different, the thoughtwave patterns seem to transmit on a different wavelength. Therefore, one must carefully examine what makes a Jihadi tick. While, Eastern philosophies and way of life differ from their Western counterparts there are similarities, there is a lot more in common than first meets the eye. Life’s value may vary but basically every normal, healthy, human being wants a good moral life and enough sustenance to provide comfortably for one’s family. And yet, the Jihadi is different! Life has no value, happiness on this plane of existence is seemingly of little consequence. Especially so, because of the very materialistic Paradise promised by Mohammed as Yid With Lid documents.

To help us understand what makes a Jihadi, I will quote from an article by a Pakistani writer (himself, a Muslim), Ziauddin Sardar, which appeared in Britain’s New Statesman:

What goes on in the mind of a jihadi?

A few weeks ago, I had a close encounter with a jihadi suicide bomber. That got me thinking. We know that jihadis are motivated by a perverted notion of religion. But not all jihadis are suicide bombers. What was the extra ingredient, I wondered, that turned a jihadi into one? What’s going on in his mind?

I say “him” because most of the jihadis in Pakistan so far have been young men. But this may change. Last month, burqa-clad female students took over the Hafsa mosque in Islamabad. To begin with, they wanted to defend the mosque, which the authorities want to demolish. Then they started kidnapping “prostitutes” - which was basically anyone not wearing a burqa. Now they are demanding sharia law and want to turn Pakistan into an “Islamic state”. If their demands are not met, they say, they will unleash a wave of suicide bombings.

Yes, gentle reader, a female mind can be as easily indoctrinated as a male’s mind, even if the “perks” are not quite the same…

I take these women seriously. While filming a Dispatches investigation for Channel 4 on Pakistan, I went to the Hafsa mosque. The female students stood, shoulder to shoulder, wielding sticks. Some kept a vigil on the roof where a machine-gun was on display. Security forces prevented me from getting inside the mosque, but I managed to talk to their shrouded comrades a few days later. Although their rhetoric was blood-curdling, what really worried me was how contented they were. They were angry and ready to kill and be killed. But, above all, they oozed buckets of self-satisfaction.

I found the same contentment in the jihadi I interviewed in Karachi. He was captured in a police raid wearing a jacket containing 6.5 kilos of explosive, and carrying three grenades. Still in his early twenties, if he had succeeded in his mission he would have killed many people. Armed police brought him for interview, his face covered, and in shackles that reminded me of the Middle Ages. I was nervous. But he was cool as a mountain stream. He was neither disturbed nor concerned; he showed no feelings or emotions. He was exceptionally happy to be a jihadi, he said. I learned from the police that most jihadis in their custody were like this.

What is it that so hypnotizes a Jihadi, as to be happy with the potential of pain or even death? What powerful mind altering drug are being applied? To give you an idea of what early Jihadists were like, the word “assassin” is derived from the Arabic word “hashasshin.” It originally described a militant sect of Ismaili Muslims that was active between the 8th and 14th centuries. The members who were charged with killing the sect’s enemies supposedly smoked opium or hassish prior to carrying out their deed. However, according to the Wikipedia, “Today, it is known that hashishinnya was an offensive term used to depict this cult by its Muslim and Mongolian detractors; the extreme zeal and cold preparation to murder makes it unlikely they ever used drugs. As far as is known they only used daggers, rarely survived their attacks, even when successful.” So too, today, no real drugs are known to be used. Instead the teachers, use brain washing techniques on their subjects from a very early age, onwards.

What makes them so contented? The idea that they have a place in paradise is partly responsible. But there is more at play than just religion.

Terrorist groups, like most employers, demand certain qualities from their recruits. And the jihadi recruits have to meet certain psycho logical standards. It helps if they have been educated in a madrasa, where they are taught that Islam is not a faith or a world-view but an absolute, an unchanging list of dos and don’ts that have to be adhered to at all costs.

But more important is for the jihadis to have a psychological make-up that can easily be manipulated by their handlers. Jihadis do not receive much training. What they do go through is a process of speedy but effective brainwashing. They have to be impressionable, empty vessels into which any old junk can be poured and defined as Absolute Truth. That is why so many of them tend to be so young.

The brainwashing is achieved through two processes. First, their mental framework is rearranged and fitted with exclusive transmitters and no receivers. They can speak but cannot listen. Rather, they can spout only certain tailor-made phrases and pieties. So a conversation with them can only be a one-way affair. They become quite incapable of rotational thought, and it becomes impossible to argue or reason with them. Second, they are transported into a beatific space where all human concerns become irrelevant. Hence, the contentment that they experience. The jihadi I interviewed was having some kind of mystical experience, I felt. He was altogether on another plane, a different universe, where what happened to him or what he did to others was totally meaningless. The window of paradise had been opened for him, and he could feel its fragrant draught. That experience was the only thing that really mattered to him.

So, what goes on in the minds of jihadis? Nothing. Because there is nothing inside them. All their humanity has been flushed out. Emotions and feelings have evaporated; critical faculties and moral compasses have been removed; they have been divorced from human concerns and experience. That’s what I saw when I met the female jihadis of Hafsa mosque. I felt their contentment. And it made me quiver with fear.

Yes, gentle reader, it is very scary! As someone living in the West, what scares me the most is not just the Islamic Jihadi. There is also another, (albeit unwitting) Jihadi. He/she is the one who will stupidly and unthinkingly repeat, like sheep, the mantras taught by left wing ideologists. Noam Chomsky, for example, who never met a jihadist he didn’t like, poses for photo ops with every sworn enemy of the US or Israel. He is an author praised by opportunistic drug dealer/politicos, like Hugo Chávez. Chomsky’s grandiloquent ideas, however, when tested in the light of true freedom, when tested in the light of the lessons of history, fall apart! They are like a house without foundation, it may look beautiful, but is not firmly grounded just as his ideas have no grounding in reason.

Yet Chomsky, like the teachers of the Pakistani Jihadists, has seduced the mind and shutdown the thinking and reasoning abilities of multitudes of impressionable youth. With revisionist history that ignores key facts and often substitutes them with fantasies, he and a whole slew of academics (the discredited Ward Churchill, immediately comes to mind!) have succeeded in producing an America where celebrities’ inane pronouncements are taken as supreme truths, as deep philosophical statements.

Chomsky, while he may hate the US and everything the West stands for, is no fool! I doubt he himself believes even a tenth of what he proclaims. So, what is his motivation? Anyone who has known the good professor, anyone acquainted with him since childhood will tell you that Noam is first and foremost a superb self-promoter no matter whose head he must tread on, no matter what controversial or outrages pronouncement he must fabricate… but there is more… By practically becoming the head theologian of extreme liberal politics, he positioned himself for a very important position. If George Soros and Michael Moore succeed in their vision, Chomsky would become a prominent member of that government. Were it not for the fact that, if they actually do succeed (and I quiver with fear at the mere thought!), it will soon become a World Caliphate. Will Chomsky, the Jew, then become Al-Noami, the Islamist? Could he be that hypocritical, would he sell his soul to save his neck? You betcha!

Before you, gentle reader, tell me that I’m being outrageous myself, that my comparison of Liberalism with Jihadism is unfair and has no basis in truth, let me repeat you the following from the article above: “First, their mental framework is rearranged and fitted with exclusive transmitters and no receivers. They can speak but cannot listen. Rather, they can spout only certain tailor-made phrases and pieties. So a conversation with them can only be a one-way affair. They become quite incapable of rotational thought, and it becomes impossible to argue or reason with them.” Sound familiar, anyone?

Hezbollah Linked to Bomb Scare At US Embassy In Venezuela

Seems that Venezuelan police busted a student in Caracas, after he planted two pipe bombs near the US embassy.

Of course, there were kids at an adjacent school. AND, just in case anyone had any doubt it was connected to Hezbollah, both pipe bombs were wrapped in plastic bags, with fliers promoting Hezbollah literature.

The kid that did it went to Bolivarian University, a state run school started by Hugo Chavez.

Click here for the whole enlightening and instructive article.

The above symbol is taken from a Venezuelan Islamist forum.

And of course, our borders remain wide open, so that terrorists with Venezuelan passports can cross any time they want to.

US Border: Less Than A Line In The Sand

You'll find Hugo Chavez towards the end of the newly released Congressional Report on border (in)security. Click here for "A Line In The Sand," PDF warning..

Oliver North writes
:
"...the bombshell -- as reported by Lajeunesse and confirmed in the congressional report -- is the role being played by Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez. It's well known that the oil-rich Marxist in Caracas has been busy spreading his anti-American "Bolivarian Revolution" throughout our southern hemisphere. But this investigation now concludes that Chavez's nefarious deeds go well beyond a weapons-buying spree and efforts to manipulate elections in Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua.

According to the congressional report, "Venezuela is providing support --including identity documents -- that could prove useful to radical Islamic groups The Venezuelan government has issued thousands of cedulas, the equivalent of Social Security cards, to people from places such as Cuba, Colombia and Middle Eastern nations that host foreign terrorist organizations." These documents can be used to obtain Venezuelan passports and American visas, which in turn allow the holder to elude immigration checks and enter the United States ..."
Indeed.

Gustav Colonel of Venezuela Today
wrote about Hezbollah training camps, and subsequent forced conversion of the native population to Islam, back on Sept. 2nd. As a matter of fact, here's a link to the internet website set up by Hezbollah in Venezuela.

Here are some not very comforting numbers: According to the Border Patrol cited in the new congressional report, OTM's (other than Mexican) illegal immigrants crossing the border since 2001 has increased from 30,147 in 2001 to 108, 025 in 2006. These are not all humble, honest illegal immigrants who are dying to mow your lawn for cheap. DHS has reported a 41% increase in "Special Interest Aliens" along the southern Texas border alone.

Nor are those numbers just a cheap workforce -- it's an army, or at least it could be.

Add these facts to the puzzle: 1) Some OTM's come via Venezuela, or are at least facilitated by Chavez. 2) Chavez has been spending his oil money to acquire weapons, and has recently made a deal with Putin to set up an AK-47 factory in Venezuela (although that is probably of more concern to his neighbors, and those inside his country that disagree with him politically). 3) Chavez' new best bud, Ahmadinejad is developing nuclear technology, and since the Iranians already run a couple of refineries for Chavez, it's not out of the question that there will be a deal to share nuclear technology.

Meanwhile, the circus continues at the UN. John Bolton, and Mexico, have called upon Chavez to withdraw. I doubt that he will until after the Venezuelan elections are over in December.

Finally, check out this article from the Persian Journal. It's a little loopy, but I can't help but agree with Scott Sullivan's conclusion that the US state department is working against US foreign policy interests.

Folks working against US domestic security interests include US politicians of all stripes, who continue to tap-dance around the border issue, in hopes of capturing the holy grail full of Hispanic votes.

The Aleuts Make a Stand for Patriotism

From the National Association of Manufacturers:
It is by now well-known that in a deal brokered by former Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-MA) and current Rep. William Delahunt (D-MA), Venezuelan strongman, Castro ally and all-around thug Hugo Chavez agreed to sell 12 million gallons of discounted oil to low-income families in Massachusetts. This was great PR for Chavez as he tries to spread his "I'm not such a bad guy after all" income redistribution gospel around the world. Heck, even Charlie Rangel told him he wasn't welcome in his city any more after Chavez came to the UN and called the President "the devil." No matter.

Seeking to build on his successful Massachusetts model, Chavez apparently turned his gaze northward -- and westward -- and offered the same largess to the frigid Aleutian Pribilof Islands in Alaska. However, according to this AP story, he has been rebuffed by the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association. Says their leader:

"As a citizen of this country, you can have your own opinion of our president and our country. But I don't want a foreigner coming in here and bashing us. Even though we're in economically dire straits, it was the right choice to make."

Their principled stand and their patriotism should be saluted. This is not a theoretical battle -- this is personal and this is real. Cheap heating oil would be a godsend to these people. But apparently, it wasn't worth the price they'd have to pay in principles lost.

And, by the way, this won't make nearly enough news as the Massachusetts deal when it got done last year, although by any measure, it's a far better story. Joe Kennedy and Hugo Chavez were newsworthy. A bunch of poor and near-poor standing up for their country is not. Go figure.

If you get a moment, click here to drop the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association a note and say thanks.

Well said Pat!

Maybe this is why Chavez is trying to give away oil. And here.

US Energy Secretary Cannot Object To Venezuela Being Charitable ...

Another example of how various branches of the US government act loopy:

From ElUniversal:
"...I cannot object to Venezuela being charitable," the US Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman told Reuters when asked about the reply his office is to give to a controversial discounted heating oil distribution program Citgo Petroleum Corporation -the US refining branch of Venezuelan state oil giant Pdvsa- has been implementing in the United States since last year, as instructed by President Hugo Chávez

Bodman said in Washington that the US Energy Department would not refuse the sales of discounted heating oil in winter, even if they come from Citgo. For many US citizens, Citgo is the arm implementing the policies of Chávez -who openly opposes his US counterpart George W. Bush ...(
btw, the article also talks about how 147 out of the 151 indigineous Alaskan tribes will accept Hugo's largess -- FB)
Samuel Bodman is a Bush appointee.

And, once again, Chavez proves to himself and the rest of the world that Americans will lick his boots for oil.

You know -- I do not understand why the US government cannot subsidize heating oil from other sources. While oil is fungible, we do not have to use the stuff that has Hugo's name all over it -- and we shouldn't.

UPDATE: Looks like the vote to fill the non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council may come as early as next week -- but Chile may be having some reservations. Good background here.

If Venezuela does get elected to the Security Council, Hugo might decide to occupy the seat personally. Now that would be a swell time.

A Tale Of Four Nazi's ...

Here's an excerpt of an interesting article from the Iranian Journal:
The Real War today (as Richard Nixon would say) is between the Gang of Four Nazis - Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, and Cuba - and the UN anti-Nazi coalition led by the US, Russia, and China. The Gang of Four Nazis, led by Iran, is out to overturn the post-WW II peace agreements and the UN system, as President Ahmadinejad has expressly stated on more than one occasion. It is a paradox that North Korea, which owes its very existence to the post-WW II settlement, should join this anti-status quo Nazi coalition. North Korea should be considered the weak link in the Gang of Four Furthermore, The G-4/Nazi Axis is in rebellion against the post-WW II liberal economic order. To overturn this order, the G-4/Nazis are adopting policies and rationales that are drawn directly from Hitler and Mussolini and their ritual denunciations of the Jews, the Communists, and the "Anglo-Saxon Plutocrats..."
This sounds alot like what both Ahmadinejad and Chavez were saying between some of their more sensational speeches at the UN a couple of weeks ago.

There are parts of the article that I disagree with. For example. I don't think that the US has been undermining the UN, nor do I see China and Russia as especially stabalizing influences in the Middle East.

However, there are some interesting ideas, click here for more.

So Many AK-47's, So Few Troops ...

According to the Arizona Star, Chavez bought 100,000 AK47's from Russia, but has only 75,000 men in his military. He'll be producing more when the factory starts production.

I've been kind of wondering what Hugo plans to do with the surplus. I'm somehow doubtful that Venezuelan troops fire automatic assault rifles with both hands.

Anyway, looks like some of the weapons have already been put to use -- against Venezuelans.

From Aleksander Boyd over at VCrisis reports on how troops fired on gold miners, killing five:

"...Some two weeks ago a group of approximately 20 army men on board a Russian helicopter flew over a mining area nearby and, from the air, ordered miners to stop working and to lay on the ground or else they would be killed. Shocked by such threat the miners complied, not before some shots were fired. Upon landing the military opened fire killing 5 of them instantly.

The only survivor relates that he moved after being shot once. The army men noticed that he was still alive, so they shot him at close range a second time after which he kept still until there was silence. With two bullet wounds he walked for about 3 hours until indigenous tribesmen saved him. 4 other miners were forced into the river and ordered to remain under water or else they would be killed. They are still unaccounted for.

In total 23 miners are dead or missing. Thus far the only authority that has visited the area is Brazil´s Vice Consul for 2 Brazilian miners were killed ....26 kilo's of gold are also missing from the mine ..."

I don't know if the above article involves simple theft and thuggery, or a political intervention. It would be interesting to know where the gold went.

Meanwhile, there was a massive anti-Chavez rally in Caracas yesterday. Click here for some on the spot reporting from Aleksander Boyd, who was there. Problem at this point is that I don't know if Chavez will allow himself to be voted out of power.

StetsonTip AM Mora y Leon, over at PubliusPundit.

Photo to the right is of the anti-Chavez rally is from the BBC. Boyd says that Hugo's supposed to march today.

"Eating Cake" In The Slums of Venezuela

So, it's Bush that's the "devil," huh?

Things for the average person in Venezuela do not appear to be going very well. Hugo Chavez came into power in 1998, amidst oil wealth. But, the poverty stricken folks who put him there have not seen much of the wealth.

From the NY Post:
"... "Three kids under the age of 18 are murdered in Venezuela every day," said Fernando Pereira, a coordinator for CECODAP, a nonprofit human-rights group trying to save children.

"We don't know of any government program that exists to combat this phenomenon."

The astounding youth death rate belies the public persona Chavez exhibits whenever he comes to New York and eagerly embraces, and sometimes kisses, every little kid he sees.

Chavez recently proclaimed during a ceremony announcing a $16 million plan to rehabilitate 704 homes in a shantytown that extreme poverty has dropped from 21 to 10 percent. But critics say 50 percent of the county's 26 million inhabitants earn less than $2 a day ..."
I guess what they really need is a terrific humanitarian group like Hezbollah to come in and take over ...

Meanwhile, looks like Chavez' mouth may have cost him the support of Chile for the upcoming UN Security Seat.

North Korea Announces Plans for Nuclear Tests

KimKim Jong Il is playing with his nuclear missiles again while his country starves. He's making a lot of people very nervous.
Oct. 4 (Bloomberg) -- South Korea expressed its ``deeply serious concern and regret'' over North Korea's announcement it will conduct a nuclear test and told Kim Jong Il's regime to withdraw its plans.

``We reiterate our policy that we will not condone North Korea possessing nuclear weapons, and urge North Korea to cancel its plans to hold a nuclear test,'' Foreign Ministry spokesman Choo Kyu Ho told reporters at a briefing today in Seoul. ``North Korea's mention of a nuclear test goes against relevant nations' ongoing efforts towards a peaceful resolution.''

South Korea is the latest country to condemn North Korea's announcement yesterday. The U.S. government said a nuclear test would ``pose an unacceptable threat'' to the world while Japan said a test would be ``unforgivable'' and require a severe international response.

U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan made a statement:

"It would bring universal condemnation by the international community and will not help (North Korea) achieve the goals expressed in its statement, particularly with regard to strengthening its security."

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton is urging the U.N. to take more convincing action with North Korea.

Bolton said he urged members to engage in "preventive diplomacy" and hold a brainstorming session "to come up not just with a knee jerk reaction ... but to develop a coherent strategy to convince them that it's not in their interest to engage in nuclear testing."

Experts believe that Pyongyang has enough plutonium for 11 nuclear bombs. The tests that Pyongyang conducted in July 2006, with complete disregard for the condemnation from the international community, proved it had the missiles, two of which are believed to be capable of reaching the United States.

The United States, Japan and South Korea have been trying to get China and Russia to put pressure on North Korea to cease this taunting of the international community. Japan and South Korea have obvious reasons to be extremely concerned about what this irrational and unpredictable dictator might do.

While Kim Jong Il lives in obscene wealth and privilege, his country is starving. His military is taken care of, but the people are not.

If North Korea does indeed have the capability to test nuclear weapons then the game is on. Japan and South Korea will have increasing pressure from within their own countries to arm themselves and enhance their own capabilities for defense. China does not want to see a nuclear armed Japan but is reluctant to reign in North Korea.

All reasonable nations are concerned about what North Korea will do with nuclear weapons. In all likelihood, the weapons would find their way into the hands of Kim's new found friends in Iran and Venezuela.

I imagine that the Korean peninsula is surrounded by American submarines even as I write this. I certainly hope so.

When we see our troops being pulled out of South Korea, it's time to watch for the flash coming from the East.

"I Have Friends At The White House ..."

Hugo Chavez thinks he has low friends in high places.

From the AP:
CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuela President Hugo Chavez said Sunday he has received warnings from within the White House that the Bush administration is plotting to assassinate him or topple his left-leaning government.

Citing what he said were warnings from an alleged White House informant, Chavez told thousands of supporters at a campaign rally that
President Bush has ordered him to be killed before he leaves office in 2008.

Bush "has said that before he goes, Hugo Chavez shouldn't be the president of Venezuela," Chavez told the crowd. "The president of the United States has said it, especially in recent days. What he doesn't know is that I have friends in the White House."
If it's true, I hope those friends are a little more reliable that the NYT's ubiquitous unnamed sources.

Anyway, Chavez is running for re-election in December, and he's using "fighting the devil," as one of his campaign themes. Of course, if he wins, that will put him in office for decades:
Chavez vowed to win the Dec. 3 vote and continue governing this South American nation until 2021. "Fourteen more years, that's what's coming," Chavez said.

Venezuela's Constitution allows a president to be re-elected only once in immediate succession. If Chavez wins a second six-year term in December, he wouldn't be able to run again in 2012 _ without a legal change
But he is planning a legal change. From ElUniversal:
Not even the times of election campaign can curb a thrust condensed in three key announcements made during his recent speech in Bolivar Avenue, Caracas. They are: ratification of an amendment to the Constitution for indefinite re-election; expropriation, that is, seizure, of a sugar mill and La Ceiba port, and unified political forces of the regime in one single party.
Alot of people see Chavez as just another buffoon on the world state, but while it's true he is a hoot, I think he needs to be taken seriously. Here's why:

1) First and foremost, the US depends on Venezuela for about a fifth of our oil supply. There's an article out today that Chavez plans to cut down oil production by 50,000 barrels a day. That's a symbolic amount, probably economic driven, at last so far. However, there's also an agreement between Chavez and Ahmadinejad that Venezuela will cut off oil to the US if Iran's attacked... or maybe "feels" attacked ... ?

2) The Iranians already run at least one of the Venezuelan refineries, and have recently signed an agreement with Chavez to explore and exploit the Orinico River for oil.

3) There is a disturbing story of Hezbollah setting up camp between Columbia and Venezuela, in the Guajira Peninsula. (It's also the province that Chavez' competitor Gov. Manuel Rosales of Zulia state, comes from. No wonder Rosales is a tad upset about "Chavez Of Arabia".)

4) Chavez is lobbying hard for a seat on the UN Security Council, although it's hard to imagine that Venezuela could be more obstructionist than Russia and China. Still, it's a little unsettling. Also unsettling is Kofi Annan's smarmy tacit approval of his anti-American bashing (although Kofi could be just job-hunting since his term in the UN will expire in December)

5) More disturbing: Chavez has been running around the world looking for arms. Last summer, he spent about three billion dollars buying arms from Russia. That's on top of his deal last year, in which he spent 2.17 billion in Kalishnakov's and helicopters from Russia. Of course, he'll no longer have to buy assault weapons from Russia, since he just signed a deal to open a Kalishnakov factory on Venezuelan soil.

6) Blatantly disturbing: Chavez and his new best friend, Ahmadinejad, have a kind of mutual defense pact, which includes Iran sharing nuclear technology with Venezuela, and Venezuela cutting off oil if Iran's attacked.

What needs to be remembered here is that unlike Russia, China, N.Korea or Iran, Venezuela is a hop, skip and a jump from our southern border. You could also think of Venezuela as a half dozen gas tanks away from the Rio Grande.

"A Friend Of The Devil Is A Friend Of Mine"

...to quote the Grateful Dead.

From Random Thoughts at TROP:

Los Diablos? In reality, we suspect that former terrorist Robert Mugabe is laughing because he can't believe that anyone actually respects him.

When Mugabe took over Zimbabwe in 1980, two Zimbabwean dollars could buy one American. Now it takes 258,000. Unemployment is at 80%, and one out of four people are starving in what was once the breadbasket exporter of Africa.

More importantly, political opponents and journalists have been jailed, tortured and executed in Zimbabwe. Tens of thousands of innocents were slaughtered at the hands of Mugabe's ruthless "Fifth Brigade." Ruling party corruption has destroyed the country along with the futures of generations of Africans who deserved better.

The UN gives demagogues like Mugabe, Chavez and Ahmadinejad the pretense of respectability and the opportunity to make noise like little boys banging on garbage cans. The people who suffer most from this, however, are not those demonized by their rhetoric, but rather those whom they claim to represent.--[TROP:]

You can tell a man by the company he keeps, Mr. Chavez.
