Iran Says Britain Must Admit Navy Trespassed

Iran continues playing an old game...the hostage one.

From the Washington Post:

Iran's foreign minister said British officials would be allowed to meet with 15 captured sailors and marines, but must acknowledge that the service members entered Iranian waters in order to resolve the standoff.

"Admitting the mistake will facilitate a solution to the problem," Manouchehr Mottaki told The Associated Press late Wednesday night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he was attending an Arab summit.

Mottaki's statement came on a day of escalating tensions, highlighted by an Iranian video of the detained Britons that showed the only female captive saying her group had "trespassed" in Iranian waters.

Britain angrily denounced the video as unacceptable and froze most dealings with the Mideast nation.

We've seen these videos before showing so-called admissions. Jill Caroll comes to mind.

UK Letter Bombs

Two Letter bombs exploded in UK:

(AP) A suspected letter bomb exploded at a business center southwest of London Tuesday, injuring two people, police said.

Emergency services were dealing with a small explosion at 9 a.m. (4 a.m. EST) at a company in Oaklands Business Centre, Wokingham, Thames Valley police said in a statement.

Police said it was "likely" that an item of mail had ignited and caused the "small explosion."

It was too soon to say whether the explosion was linked to a letter bomb that detonated in central London Monday, injuring one person, police said.

On Monday, a padded envelope exploded at an office belonging to Capita Group PLC, which administers the $16 daily fee for vehicles meant to cut down on traffic in central London and collects television licensing fees.

Vantis PLC, a tax and accounting company, confirmed it was targeted in Tuesday's attack. Vantis also handles government contracts.

Army bomb-disposal units surrounded the company's office, which is part of business park comprised of red-brick office buildings.

Looks like homegrown angst but I'm still watching carefully...

Coming to a Mosque Near You

Our reader Kurt K. sends us:

This is amazing footage of the hate and jihadism preached in London area mosques. Secretly captured by an undercover reporter.

http://www.shinesforall.com/2007/01/video_dispatche.html

Excerpt: Secret video footage reveals Muslim preachers exhorting followers to prepare for jihad, to hit girls for not wearing the hijab, and to create a 'state within a state'. Many of the preachers are linked to the Wahhabi strain of Islam practised in Saudi Arabia, which funds a number of Britain's leading Islamic institutions.

Islam against Freedom

From everything I have read and researched Islam is not compatible with the western ideas of freedom and democracy. Islam's idea of freedom is freedom from something. Mainly freedom from making decisions. I can see where this would fit in well with some leftists within our own borders. Their idiocy and ignorance leads them to bad decisions which have consequences. They don't like being stupid, nobody does. If Islam takes away this decision making then they are not responsible for what happens. So in simple terms, Stupid people become Islamists.

Based on the history of Islam, representative democracy is also a non player. Islam would like to establish another caliphate. This takes the power away from people and gives it to religious leaders. I wonder if the leftists in our own country will acknowledge a theocracy. Would they be willing to give up their individual freedoms and let someone else make decisions while they choose to live in a theocracy? Remember, these are stupid people.

There is nothing in the koran that would indicate freedom of choice. The book simply comes down to convert or die. If you decide to convert, everything is decided for you. Forgiveness, tolerance, and compassion are not qualities that the koran evokes from mankind. In fact, it's the opposite.

I am not saying anything new. Many people, including myself, came to this conclusion a long time ago. If we want to see what happens to a democratic society when Islam takes over, look to Europe. The most popular name in England is Mohammed, which has surpassed George. Unless there is a drastic change, Europe will be under Islamic control within a few decades. It won't be a calm transition either. Be prepared for the Great Mosque of Notre Dame.

Leftists are not equipped for the upcoming war. This is going to be a religious war, Judeo-Christianity versus Islam. The Secularists, leftists, sociocommunists, agnostics, and atheists will be the wildcard. Most of them will choose to sit on the sidelines and complain. This works to the advantage of the Islamists. If Islam were to win, they would be the first to suffer. They would have no one to blame but themselves. But, as usual, they'll blame someone else anyway.

Man tried to eat swan during Ramadan fast

You could call this a "hunger" strike!

London - A Muslim man slaughtered a wild swan and tried to eat it because he was hungry during the fasting festival of Ramadan, a court heard.

Shamshu Miah stabbed the bird and bit its neck at a boating lake in a popular tourist resort.

Police found the 52-year-old with blood on his clothes and feathers in his beard when they were called to the West Shore boating pool in the seaside town of Llandudno, North Wales.

One of the officers told Miah it was illegal to kill a swan because it was the property of the Queen, to which Miah replied: "I hate the Queen, I hate this country."

Oopsie! Shame on Shamshu. What a turkey!

Happy Thanksgiving, BTW!

Blair: Moderate policies defeat terror

Allah Akbar, bloody bugger!
Blair: Let's change our strategy--and blame Israel too...

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — British Prime Minister Tony Blair acknowledged Sunday the West had changed strategy in the fight against terrorism, telling Pakistan's president that brokering a broad Mideast peace deal was now as crucial as using force to battle militants.

Pakistani leader Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who switched his country's support from the Taliban in Afghanistan to the U.S. following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, said "the knot of terrorism will be untied through first resolving the Palestinian dispute."

Musharraf also acknowledged that his government's efforts to cut off support for the Taliban in northwestern Pakistan had not achieved "100 percent success." Pakistan has come under increasing pressure to crack down on Taliban and al-Qaida militants operating along its border with Afghanistan, where Osama bin Laden believed to be hiding.

"The Taliban problem is an Afghan problem ... being supported by elements from this side," Musharraf said. "We need to put our house in order on our side."

"We begin to win when we start fighting properly and I think we are now fighting properly _ but we have got to do more," Blair said after the talks with Musharraf in the eastern city of Lahore. "Where there are people standing up for a different way forward, we have to back them."

Blair said bringing peace to Israel and the Palestinian territories would help. "This global extremism is an ideology that exploits grievances. So what we have to do is at the same time as we are taking on the ideology, we have to take away those elements of grievance," he said.

"This took a generation to grow and it will take a generation to defeat," he said after signing an agreement announced Saturday to double to $910 million package of aid to fund moderate Islamic schools and other projects in Pakistan.

Help me out here...I fail to see how the "Taliban" problem and the "Palestinian" problem are linked. How is blaming Israel and throwing money at the Pakistani Muslims going to change the twisted ideology which already exists worldwide? If anything at all, they have just pulled another taqiyya over the infidel's eyes again.

**Update** --removing the elements of grievence--"Maybe Israel should just GO AWAY..." says Mohammed of the Islamic Thinkers Society.

Americans seized in Iraq after convoy hijack

Former Iraq Prime Minister Blames America!...of course.Daylight Mayhem In Iraq.

From an article By Aref Mohammed:

SAFWAN, Iraq (Reuters) - British and U.S. forces mounted raids in southern Iraq on Friday in the hunt for four Americans and an Austrian kidnapped when the civilian convoy they were guarding was hijacked, Iraqi security sources said.

British troops cordoned off an area of the city of Basra on Friday in what the Iraqi sources told Reuters was a raid based on suspicion the five missing men were held there. A spokesman for the British forces policing the region declined all comment.
From the nearby town of Zubayr, a policeman said U.S. troops had raided the police station there, apparently seeking the hostages. British and U.S. officials have often accused police of working in league with militants hostile to foreign forces.

Police in the border town of Safwan, 60 km (40 miles) south of Basra, showed reporters an armored four-wheel drive vehicle they said the foreigners were driving in when the truck convoy was brought to a halt by gunmen on Thursday after crossing the border from Kuwait on its way to the city of Nassiriya.

Nine Iraqis were also abducted by the gunmen but at least some had already been released, a security source said. Their Kuwaiti employer said only the foreigners were still missing.

A representative of the Crescent Security Group in Kuwait said: "We don't know exactly what happened." The incident had occurred around noon, between Safwan and Zubayr.

Do you think that the daylight raids and activities, along with the implication of so-called allies, shows an emboldened new enemy since the elections?

The incident comes at a time of heightened sectarian tension in Baghdad, not just on the streets but within the government and among groups engaged in the U.S.-backed political process.

Iraq's most prominent Sunni cleric, Harith al-Dari of the Muslim Clerics Association, blasted an arrest warrant issued for him on suspicion of "terrorism" as an attempt by the Shi'ite-led coalition government to divert attention from its own "crimes."

Sunni leaders like Dari, who is safe from arrest in neighboring Jordan, complain that Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is not doing enough to rein in militias loyal to his Shi'ite allies and which were blamed for a mass kidnapping of dozens of staff from a Sunni-run government ministry on Tuesday.

Democracy is not an easy thing to swallow for people who have swallowed the backward teachings of Mohammed and are still stuck in the 8th century. And America is getting ready to just hand them a pass with all this rhetoric of withdrawl and timestables resonating from the new American congressional leadership.

MI5: over 1,600 people planning terror plots

Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller calls it as she sees it.

The head of MI5 has warned the agency is dealing with up to 30 alleged "mass casualty" terror plots in the UK and abroad involving more than 1,600 individuals.

Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller said MI5 and the police are tackling 200 groups or networks totalling more than 1,600 identified individuals in the UK who are "actively engaged in plotting or facilitating terrorist acts".

She said the terror plots involved plans for suicide attacks with some being directed by al-Qaeda.

Dame Eliza's assessment came in her first public speech since the July 7 terror attacks last year, to an invited audience of academics in east London.

She warned of the prospect that weapons of mass destruction could be used in future terror attacks in the UK.

Dame Eliza said: "Today we see the use of home-made improvised explosive devices, but I suggest tomorrow's threat will include the use of chemicals, bacteriological agents, radioactive materials and even nuclear technology."

She told her audience that MI5's caseload of UK-based terror sympathisers - many of them British citizens - had increased by 80 per cent since January.

She voiced concern that many of those involved were young men and teenagers as young as 16, who were being radicalised by friends and by material viewed on the internet.

Dame Eliza quoted statistics suggesting there was widespread sympathy for terrorism within Britain.

"If the opinion polls conducted in the UK since July are only broadly accurate, over 100,000 of our citizens consider that the July bomb attacks in London were justified," she said.

Dame Eliza added: "More and more people are moving from passive sympathy towards active terrorism through being radicalised or indoctrinated by friends, families, in organised training events here and overseas. Young teenagers are being groomed to be suicide bombers."

She said she was alarmed by the "scale and speed" of radicalisation in the wake of the July 7 bombings.

Dame Eliza said: "It is the youth who are being actively targeted, groomed, radicalised and set on a path that frighteningly quickly could end in their involvement in mass murder of their fellow citizens or their early death in a suicide attack or on a foreign battlefield.

"Killing oneself and others in response is an attractive option for some citizens of this country and others around the world.

"(The) threat is serious, is growing, and will, I believe, be with us for a generation. It is a sustained campaign, not a series of isolated incidents. It aims to wear down our will to resist."

Some reaction to this UK Terror Alert here:

DAME PAULINE NEVILLE-JONES, FORMER CHAIR OF THE JOINT INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE

"If I were in her shoes I think that I would want the citizenry of this country to have some understanding of the security situation that we face.

"I think the days are long gone and I think welcomely long gone, when it was right for government to say 'You can rest secure, government knows what it's doing, we will keep you safe and don't bother your little heads'.

"We can't rest secured. We are sufficiently vulnerable, she knows that she can't necessarily guarantee always to intercept, and therefore I think the right thing is to let us know what she considers the situation to be."

Dame Pauline said that Dame Eliza was indicating what she believed was an issue that needs to be tackled partly by government and partly by "society as a whole".

"It's very, very important we don't treat the roots of this issue as being something where it's for the Muslim communities - and they are plural - to conform themselves somehow to a settled community that has its own ideas," Dame Pauline said.

"We've got to do this together."

Could this be too little too late for the severely radicalized UK?

IHTISHAM HIBATULLAH OF THE BRITISH MUSLIM INITIATIVE

Ihtisham Hibatullah said he was concerned about the stigmatisation of the whole Muslim community following Dame Eliza's claim that 200 groups were involved in plotting.

He said doing so was "completely unfair and unjust against the whole Muslim community" and accused the government and security services of "dragging the Muslim community along in such a way where it creates more hatred towards the community and Islam."

"For the government to accuse 200 organisations and more than a thousand individuals in the community with plotting to endanger the country's security implies that the whole of the Muslim community is under suspicion, which is completely unacceptable.

"The Muslim community is working with all faith groups and different spectrums of the community to form an alliance to create an atmosphere of dialogue."

Indeed I think in the UK the whole Muslim Community is duly under suspicion. What is needed is a little less talk and a lot more action. The UK has been asking the Muslim community to cleanse itself of these nuts. The response has benn only more Muslim councils that want to be a part of the process, or direct the process via the backdoor. At least the UK Government has the nerve to say it. Can you imagine the bloviating from CAIR and the ACLU if such bluntness were acceptable here in America? No, in the US, Islam is the "religion of PC".

Ahmadinejad's Ultimatums

It's good to read the words of those who have declared war against us, lest we forget that this IS a Global war on Terrorism and forget the danger we are in by politicizing the war that was waged against us.

On October 20, 2006, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gave an address to the Iranian people really, it was a rant). The address was aired on Jaam-e Jam 1 TV. Here are some excerpts ....

Here's looking at you, kid!Mahmoud Ahmadinejad:
This [Zionist regime] was established in order to swallow up the entire region, and to place it at the disposal of the world forces. It is a big lie that it was done in order to protect those killed in World War II, and in order to compensate them.

Over 60 million people were killed in World War II. Let's assume you are right, and six million [Jews] were among those killed. How come none of you mourn the other 54 million? Why don't you pay reparations to them? Why don't you ever think about them? All your sorrow, your pity, your mourning cries are over [victims] who were counted by I don't know whom...

Obviously, some of the Western countries are being held hostage today by the Zionists. Some Western countries have been paying reparations for 60 years. We sent letters and messages, and asked them: "When will these relations, which evolved from World War II, come to an end?" A war broke out 60 years ago, and some considered themselves the victors in this war. They occupied Palestine. They set up bases throughout the world, and want to act aggressively against all the peoples. They also gave themselves privileges in the international forums, and the other peoples must submit to their control. We asked them when these relations would come to an end. We asked the leader of one of these countries: "Until when will your people have to pay reparations?" For two generations? Three generations? For a 100 years? A 1,000 years? A few thousand years?

The existence of this regime is so essential for these countries that in some of them, they even built monuments. You know that every country builds monuments for the objects of their pride. They take their children, from an early age, to show them these monuments, in order to help them develop their identity, and to instill in their memory the things that make them proud, in order to feel power and honor. In some of these countries, they set up monuments, whose purpose was to degrade that very nation. From an early age, they take their children and say to them: "Look, our ancestors were murderers. Our ancestors used to burn people. We are in debt."

Something happened three generations ago. Let's assume it was true. What is the crime of the youth born in Europe today? What is the crime of people living in the world today that they have to pay reparations so high they cannot even be calculated? The peoples have to pay any sum decreed by America and England. What is the reason for this? When will there be an end to these claims? What is their limit? What does America have to do with this? Why does America extort the world, under the pretext of the Holocaust? Why does England extort [the world]? Wasn't it England that laid the foundations for the fear that led the Jews to flee to the occupied lands?

They said: "We want to establish a place for the survivors." How many survivors were there? With false promises, you gathered the wretched people from Africa, South America, Asia, and North America, and you brought them there. You banished one people from its land, and you want to create another people by force. Why? Why? Are all those now living in Palestine survivors of the war? We asked [these Westerners]: "The current leader of the Zionist regime – where did his parents live? Where were they?" As you know, some of the leaders of the Zionist regime are in fact Iranians.

[...]

The life of this regime depended on military threat, military force, and the legend that it was invincible. Today, with God's grace, this false legend has collapsed, with the help of the young believers of Palestine, and thanks to the believing, self-sacrificing commanders of Hizbullah. Today, the Zionists do not feel secure even in their own homes, anywhere in the world.

Today, this community, which was gathered by force, and under false pretexts, and whose members were joined to one another by a paper-clip, in order to create a false illusion of a nation... Today, they have fallen apart. I declare here, loud and clear: With God's grace, this regime has lost the philosophy of its existence.

[...]

Watch your hands, Mamoud.

I said to them: If you do not agree, open the doors, open the gates, and allow these uninvited guests return to their countries. Let them return to their homeland. If the Western countries that support the Zionists feel sympathetic toward them, they should give them financial aid, so that they can live in their own countries.

[...]

We have some advice for the supporters of this regime. We say to them: First of all, do not seek a new crime. Every crime being perpetrated today, every youth who dies in Palestine today, every home that is demolished, and every incursion into the neighboring countries will be accredited to the supporters of this regime, and the nations will exact their revenge.

[…]

Our proposal is as follows: Since you brought [this regime] over there, you yourselves pick it up, by the arms and legs, and remove it from there. This will make the peoples of the region improve their attitude toward you. These will be the first steps to a long-lasting friendship with the peoples of the region. This will be to your advantage.

You may say: "We feel uncomfortable doing this, because the Zionists control our countries, the propaganda machinery is at their disposal, and if we want to gain voters, we need their money and their support. Therefore, we feel uncomfortable doing this."

Fine. We made you another proposal: Allow that which you advocate take place in Palestine. After all, you advocate democracy, and you claim that the peoples should control their own destiny. So let the Palestinian people decide upon its own path by means of a referendum. In response, you say: "We might lose our reputation." Our response is: You have no reputation left anyway! Where do you still have a reputation anywhere in the world?

In the recent war in Lebanon, you saw with your own eyes that the whole world was against you. Even in Argentina, where the Zionists devise conspiracies, generate strife, and put pressure on the Argentinean administration, the people took to the streets.

[...]

This [Zionist] regime is on the verge of death, and we advise you to start thinking about your long-term interests and long term relations with the peoples of the region. At the end of the day, these are all ultimatums. No-one should complain tomorrow. The things are stated clearly.

[...]

What is this Security Council anyway? The whole world knows that America and England are the enemies of the Iranian nation.

Crowd: Allah Akbar.

Allah Akbar.

Khamenei is the leader.

Death to those who oppose the rule of the jurisprudent

Death to America

Death to England

Death to the hypocrites and Saddam

Death to Israel

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: They have taken control of the leading positions in the Security Council, and have the right of veto, and they are prosecuting and judging us, and they want to carry out the verdict. Sir, this is the logic of pharaonic times. The days of this logic are over. The Security Council, in its present condition, is illegitimate. Its resolutions are illegitimate. Do you want to be the judges, the rulers, the prosecutors, and those who carry out the verdicts? These days are over. Nobody accepts this behavior of yours. Even the illiterate old women of the Himalayas will not accept this behavior of yours.

Wishing You Were Me.The islamofascists believe they defeated the what they once believed to be the invincible Israel in Lebanon. They are emboldened.

Ahmadinejad's proposal to Britain and the United States is to take Israel out of the Middle East in order to improve our relations with the Middle East. He then proposes that the West allow Palestine to determine their own destiny by destroying Israel.

He blames Israel for every bad thing that happens in the Middle East and of controling the world. He sees the failure of Israel to prevail in Lebanon as a sign from God that Israel is weakened and as he said, the world is against the West.

He then declares that Israel is on the verge of death and tells us clearly that these things are ultimatums.

He completely rejects the validity of the United Nations and any sanctions that are proposed.

There are those in the West who think we need to talk with Ahmadinejad and reason with him. How do you reason with an unreasonable man? With a meglamaniac actually.

Leaving Iraq would leave a vacuum there that Ahmadinejad would be more than happy to occupy. It is my belief he is already providing weapons for the insurgents. They are getting increasingly sophisticated weapons and al-Qaida operatives are coming there from all over the world.

The islamofascist are emboldened by the weak response of Israel to the invasions of hezbollah and hamas. They are emboldened by the media reports that the American people have turned against the war and are demanding the President pull troops out of Iraq. I have seen reports on islamic websites stating they expect American troops will be out of Iraq by the end of this year. They are celebrating the defeat of the Republicans in the upcoming elections and declaring victory over the mighty Amercian Army. They are emboldened.

They have been warning us, Osama bin Laden and Ahmadinejad, that they intend to destroy us. There has been a recent al-Qaida warning to Canada. Yet there are still those that refuse to hear the warnings and still insist on blaming the United States for their problems.

It's all part of Ahmadinejad's apocalyptic vision.

I think it's time we really listen to what our emeny is telling us.

Was Ramadan A Peaceful time?

Feast at the end of Ramadan
Despite the fact many muslims want to tell us Ramadan is a time of "peace" The Quran says otherwise:

"The count of months, as far as God is concerned, is twelve.* This has been God's law, since the day He created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred. This is the perfect religion; you shall not wrong your souls (by fighting) during the Sacred Months. However, you may declare all-out war against the idol worshipers (even during the Sacred Months), when they declare all-out war against you, and know that God is on the side of the righteous." Quran 9:36

How does a Muslim explain this?

Apparently it seems many Muslims are aware the Quran allows them to continue jihad even during Ramadan:

Violence Up During Ramadan

>Insurgent and sectarian attacks in the Iraqi capital have shot up during Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting and atonement, according to U.S. military statistics released Thursday.

Since the beginning of the holiday nearly three weeks ago, the number of violent incidents has averaged 36 a day. That compares with about 28 a day since mid-June, when U.S. and Iraqi security forces began a high-profile security crackdown aimed at stemming the violence between Sunni Arabs and Shiite Muslims.

Al-Qaeda Ensures a Violent Ramadan in Iraq

>On October 15 the Muslim month of Ramadan kicked off with a crop of attacks, justifying Iraqi fears that the traditional holy month of fasting and prayer has been transformed into a harbinger of violence. On that day a powerful car bomb exploded in Baghdad near an Iraqi police station, wounding 10 police and civilians. As if to underscore the religious struggle this was followed a day later by a string of attacks on the minority Christian community with blasts at churches around Baghdad. Both of these were soon eclipsed by a sustained mortar attack on an Iraqi National Guard headquarters north of Baghdad, leaving a total of over 100 killed or injured. The tone for Ramadan was duly set.

And then you have Europe trying to be "sensitive" to the Muslims during Ramadan:

Police anger over ban on arrests during Ramadan

Manchester Police have been told not to arrest Muslims at prayer times during the holy month of Ramadan. The order is said to have angered a number of officers in the Greater Manchester force.

An internal email listing prayer times has been sent to officers who have been asked not to execute arrest warrants during prayer times for reasons of religious sensitivity.

To Hijab, Or Not To Hijab ...

I tend to agree with Jack Straw on the subject of hijabs and niqabs.

Here's what Paul Cruikshank of the NYT's wrote about it:

On the streets of London and other cities in Britain, an incongruous sight has become increasingly common: young Muslim women covered from head to toe in black robes, including the niqab, a veilthat obscures the face except for the eyes.

The niqab sets these young women off not just from most passers-by, but even from Muslim women who choose to wear the simple headscarf, or hijab, which covers only the hair and neck. And it is causing discomfort even in multicultural Britain.

When Jack Straw, the former foreign secretary, declared earlier this month that the niqab made positive relations between Muslims and non-Muslims more difficult because it was "such a visible statement of separation and difference," he struck a chord with many British voters, only 22 percent of whom think that Muslims have done enough to fit into mainstream society

Cruikshank goes on to explain how younger women wear the hijab in order to protest their parent's assimilation into the British culture.

That sense of besiegement, not wardrobe decisions, is fueling the real problem that British politicians should be addressing, which is the creeping fundamentalism and Islamist radicalism of a significant portion of Britain's Islamic youth. In a recent poll, more than a quarter of British Muslims under the age of 24 said that the July 7, 2005, attacks on the London Underground were justified because of British foreign policy. Thousands of young British Muslims have been influenced by fundamentalist organizations like Hizb ut-Tahrir and militant groups like Al Muhajiroun.

These are the groups that have persuaded some Muslim girls that it is their religious duty to adopt the niqab. Kemal Helbawy, the influential founder of the Muslim Association of Britain, says that a very different message is coming out of the country's mainstream mosques, where most imams advise their congregations that the hijab is sufficient.

He goes on to write how British Muslims need to be brought into the political process. But, I don't know how that's going to be done without more assimilation. The niqab and hijab are actually just the tip of the iceberg.

There's another thing that occurs to me about the Hijab, and other Muslim covering: Muslim women are supposed to wear them so that men will not be tempted. It's actually kind of an insult to Muslim men; here in the West, we expect our men to control themselves, and we have legal recourse if they don't.

Blue Star Beth wrote a pretty good article about how Tony Blair agrees with Jack Straw.

Man Charged with Smoking and Drinking During Ramadan

A BAHRAINI man was arrested after he was seen smoking and drinking alcohol in his car during Ramadan fasting hours in Manama, it was revealed yesterday.

Police spotted the man smoking as he was driving his car, said a Public Prosecution spokesman.

The defendant was asked to stop and when the officer searched the car, he found an open bottle of alcohol hidden under his seat, he said.

The medical examination of alcohol count in his blood was negative, he added.

The man was released on BD50 bail, after being charged with eating and drinking during Ramadan.

An alcohol count of negative? And he's still charged? Not with smoking and drinking but EATING and drinking. And yet UK police can't arrest someone WITH AN ARREST WARRANT at prayer time? Such mixed priorities...I'm confused. But not much.

FURY OVER RAMADAN ARREST BAN

A ROW has broken out after police officers were told not to serve arrest warrants at prayer times during Ramadan.

Cops were emailed a timetable of the Muslim holy month - which ends tomorrow - and told to observe its "religious significance".

But one angry officer said: "I wonder if we'll extend the same courtesy to all other religions.

"We seem to have given up on policing the streets in favour of politically correct soundbites."

The answer to the angry officer is "NO"! But that won't stop the PC crowd in Britain or the US. An appearance of sensitivity and respect allows a criminal to pray freely in society, when we have gone to great lengths to afford them (muslims only) the courtesy to pray 5 times a day in jail.

7/7 Is Just The Beginning

We've been covering alot of things out of Britain this week. As mentioned in previous comments, they seem to be under "an all out social assault."

Intelligence chiefs in Britain are saying that Al-Qaida has successfully regrouped it's organization in Pakistan and the UK is it's new main target.

More worrying, officials say, is evidence of new techniques that would-be terrorists within the UK have adopted. The structure of individual al-Qaida-inspired groups is much more like the old Provisional IRA cells, with self-contained units comprising a lead organiser/planner, a quartermaster in charge of weapons and explosives acquisition and training, and several volunteers.

Officials describe these groups as "multi-tasking" - involved in fraud and fundraising and courier work as well as planning attacks. "There is a hierarchy within each cell with a very tightly run command and control," said one counter-terrorism source.

Many suspects appear to be aware they are under surveillance and have taken to having important conversations outside - in parks and other public spaces - similar to the tactics used by PIRA leaders during the Troubles.

Intelligence experts fear the UK is a target as never before, with extremists intent on carrying out a huge spectacular, on the scale of the US atrocities in 2001.

"They viewed 7/7 as just the beginning," said one senior source. "Al-Qaida sees the UK as a massive opportunity to cause loss of life and embarrassment to the authorities." A second source agreed: "Britain is sitting at the receiving end of an al-Qaida campaign."

Britain is an easier target, they have concluded, because of its traditional links with Pakistan which is visited by tens of thousands of people each year. Intelligence agencies have found it very difficult to penetrate the camps there.

The article goes on to talk about recruiting taking place in the UK and Pakistan. The best and most disturbing quote comes at the end:

They say there is a frightening number of young men willing to step up and replace those who have been arrested or gone to ground.

"It's like the old game of Space Invaders," said one senior counter-terrorism source. "When you clear one screen of potential attackers, another simply appears to take its place."

Heh! Space Invaders...No double meaning there...

Anti-terror laws under fire after two terrorists escape

Why house arrests for terror suspects may not be such a good idea.

LONDON • Britain’s anti-terrorism legislation came under renewed fire yesterday as a row over two international terrorist suspects who have gone on the run intensified.

Opposition parties and pressure groups said that the escape of the pair, reportedly a Briton of Pakistani descent and an Iraqi, highlighted that the control orders to which they were subject were dangerous and unfair.

Control orders are a loose kind of house arrest which usually compel suspects to report regularly to police and place them under a curfew, although critics say suspects should instead be charged and face a trial. But Home Office minister Tony McNulty hinted on Monday that the government may go in a different direction and diverge from the European Convention on Human Rights to tighten up the regime using existing legislation.

“We’ve got scope... to look at derogating orders that actually step away from the European Convention on Human Rights. That remains an option and we keep these things under review,” he told BBC television.

The Home Office has not made public any details of the escapes, but the BBC reported on its website that one of the fugitives was a British man of Pakistani descent suspected of wanting to go to Iraq and fight against the United States and British-led coalition there.

He is 25 and escaped from the mental health unit of a hospital in south-west London in the last few weeks, Britain’s Press Association (PA) reported. The other man is Iraqi and is thought to have been missing for some months, the BBC online said.

Did he say they may diverge from the European Convention on Human Rights to tighten things up? Go Britain! Someone needs to shows these terrorists some gonads. Trust me if the Democrats win a majority in the US election in November, we will not have any gonads to show.

Meanwhile some civil liberties gobbledegook-

Shami Chakrabarti, director of civil liberties campaign group Liberty, said the two escapes confirmed that control orders were “unsafe and fundamentally unfair”.

“If someone is truly a dangerous terror suspect, why would you leave them at large?

“On the other hand, it is completely cruel and unfair to label someone a terrorist and to subject them to a range of punishments for years on end without ever charging them or putting them on trial,” she said.

Well make up my mind, will ya? Are they dangerous enough to detain or not?

Muslim Clerics Reaching Out To The Pope

From Random Thoughts @The Religion Of Peace:

This is almost more than we can stomach. Twice now we've come across the news headline "Muslim Clerics Reach Out to the Pope" to describe an open letter by 38 Muslim scholars to Benedict XVI in response to his suggestion that Islam has a violent history. One would think that the pope is a lonely or deeply disturbed man, needing the company of others to set him straight in his ways as these scholars are so graciously doing.

In fact, the letter was sent the day after Muslims in Iraq beheaded a Priest after holding him and torturing him for two days because they were angry at the Pope's words. They not only cut off his head, but his other limbs as well. There is no mention of this in the letter. Perhaps it occurred too late for the scholars to incorporate it into their text. Fair enough.

But wait! There is no mention of the Catholic nun who was gunned down at a children's hospital by a disgruntled Muslim nearly a month earlier or the other Christians who were killed around the same time. As a matter of fact, there is no mention at all of any of the brutal acts of violence that the Islamic religion pours out on the world each and every day.

Instead, the letter is a study in narcissism, trumpeting the virtues of Islam while blatantly failing to apologize for or even acknowledge its crimes past or present.

This is the reality of the Muslim world today. It is deeply self-consumed and emotionally immature, so willing to blame anyone but itself for the smallest of problems by which it is affected, while pathologically incapable of taking responsibility for the horror that it inflicts on others.

Yes, there is a dialogue that desperately needs to take place, but it is within Islam itself.

Yes Indeed! Self-consumed and emotionally immature. So Allah and Mohammed trump all other prophets and expressions of God? Even to the condesending (and murdering) of all other religious leaders? I guess that's ok in their view. Remember this?

Anjem Choudary said, "The Muslims take their religion very seriously and non-Muslims must appreciate that and that must also understand that there may be serious consequences if you insult Islam and the prophet.

"Whoever insults the message of Mohammed is going to be subject to capital punishment."

He added: "I am here have a peaceful demonstration. But there may be people in Italy or other parts of the world who would carry that out.

"I think that warning needs to be understood by all people who want to insult Islam and want to insult the prophet of Islam."

As well as placards attacking the Pope such as "Pope go to Hell", his followers outside the country's principal Roman Catholic church also waved slogans aimed at offending the sentiments of Christians such as "Jesus is the slave of Allah".

Suppose we just say Death to the Mullahs (scopes be upon them) for insulting religion in general! They are so easily insulted that the joke is now not will they be insulted but with what?

Muslim teacher defends her veil

Click for video
A Muslim support teacher suspended for wearing a veil in class said it was never a problem for her pupils.

Headfield Church of England Junior School, in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, said pupils found it hard to understand her during English language lessons.

But Aishah Azmi, 23, said: "They never complained." She added she was willing to take the veil off in class, but not in front of any male colleagues.

Ms Azmi was suspended pending the outcome of an employment tribunal, which is due to announce its decision within the next two weeks.

Kirklees Council said she was asked to take off her veil in class and refused, but the action was "nothing to do with religion", only a practical matter about making herself understood.

But Ms Azmi told the BBC: "It hasn't caused a problem between myself and the children. They've never complained and we had a brilliant relationship."

She added: "To say the students have a problem with communication, that's not right."

Disputing the school's version of events, she insisted she had always been willing to take off her veil in front of the children but would not in front of male colleagues.

She said she had taught in class without the veil when there were no males present.

The teaching assistant admitted she had not been wearing her veil when interviewed by a male member of school staff, but said she had not realised a man would be present.

She said: "The veil is really important to all Muslim women who choose to wear it. Our religion compels us to wear it because it's in the Koran."

Hmmm...well this is in the Koran also...

Ruth Kelly Speaks on Islam

Click for analysis video
An analysis of Communtities Secretary Ruth Kelly's speech (read text) is presented here.

Also from the Muslim Council of Britain's website:

Ruth Kelly's speech yesterday to an invited Muslim audience contained much that was sensible. On the contentious issue of the niqab (face-veil), for example, she said: "This is ultimately an issue of informed personal choice. No-one is suggesting that in a free and democratic country the state should decide what its citizens can and cannot wear..."

She was also half-right, in my view, in reminding her listeners that: "Britain is a good place to be a Muslim. British Muslims are central to our political, business and social life. There are an increasing number of Muslims in the armed forces, in the police and in parliament."

I say only half-right, because as the secretary of state for communities and local government, it is of no little concern that she did not take this opportunity to also express her thoughts on the worrying anti-Muslim climate being deliberately stoked by some sections of the British media. Just recall some of the ridiculous stories that have qualified as national news in recent weeks and the harmful impact they will have had on perceptions of, and attitudes towards, ordinary British Muslims.

However, her speech will primarily be remembered for her pledge to financially support those groups which were actively committed to tackling extremism and her not so veiled criticism of the Muslim Council of Britain for its stance over the Holocaust Memorial Day.

The fact that the Muslim Council will not recognize the Holocaust IS cause for alarm. So is this...Talk about anti-Muslim climate and perceptions of Islam!

You tell me...what should the British Government should do?

10,000 Homegrown Jihadis

This spoof on the Home Shopping Network reminds me of the LGF post, "Every One of Them Knows How to Use an AK-47".

Britain has a problem—a huge problem that has been growing for decades, while British authorities worshipped at the altars of unrestricted immigration and willfully blind multiculturalism.

"Intelligence chiefs are warning Tony Blair that Britain faces a full-blown Islamist insurgency, sustained by thousands of young Muslim men with military training now resident in this country.

As police and the security services work to prevent another cell murdering civilians, attention is focusing on the pool of migrants to this country from the Horn of Africa and central Asia. MI5 is working to an estimate that more than 10,000 young men from these regions have had at least basic training in light weapons and military explosives.

A well-connected source said there were more than 100,000 people in Britain from “completely militarised” regions, including Somalia and its neighbours in the Horn of Africa, and Afghanistan and territories bordering the country. “Every one of them knows how to use an AK-47,” said the source. “About 10 per cent can strip and reassemble such a weapon blindfolded, and probably a similar proportion have some knowledge of how to use military explosives. That adds up to tens of thousands of men.”

Well, at least we know where they'll get their weapons.

Big Ben Laden

Police to brief Muslims before terror raids.

I can understand this is an attempt to sooth the fears of Muslims regarding profiling and Islamophobia. But I still dont know if this is such a good idea. Especially when they listen to guys like Abu Izzadeen.

In a recent video he told his audience:

“In the UK no fighting takes place yet, but don’t be fooled, the time will come to you brothers . . . fighting is so close at hand.”

He adds: “You prepare yourself now and when the hard time comes you are ready to defend yourself; you are ready to die for the sake of Allah.”

Does anyone remember “Taqiyya”?

An example of “Taqiyya” would be the insistence of a Muslim apologist that “of course” there is freedom of conscience in Islam, and then quoting that Qur’anic verse -- “There shall be no compulsion in religion.” But the impression given will be false, for there has been no mention of the Muslim doctrine of abrogation, or naskh, whereby such an early verse as that about “no compulsion in religion” has been cancelled out by later, far more intolerant and malevolent verses. In any case, history shows that within Islam there is, and always has been, “compulsion in religion” for Muslims, and for non-Muslims. The “compulsion” for Muslims comes from the treatment of apostasy as an act punishable by death. And though “dhimmis” are allowed to practice their religion, they do so under conditions of such burdens and restrictions that many, not as an act of conscience but rather as a response to inexorable Muslim pressure, have converted (or “reverted”) to Islam.

Any Questions?
