Dania Al-Ghalib: Saudi Women Are Always To Blame For Their Problems

MEMRI, The Middle East Media Research Center just recently reported on February 8th, 2008 that the Saudi English- language Arab News published an op-ed by Dania Al-Ghalib titled, "The Saudi Woman Is Always Guilty." This article was op-ed was published in December 2007 just two months ago.

According to the op-ed Al-Ghalib reasons that Saudi women were not wanted at birth, is guilty if she speaks and guilty if she remains silent. The article continues on to ones horror stating that it is a woman's fault for being raped. But I will stop here, because I have this article here for you to read in its entirety.

This op-ed is an eye opener to say the least and it most definitely depicts the brainwashing of Saudi women from birth that they are of little value and or consequence.

This lends credence to the fact that the degeneration of women in Saudi Arabia is still dictated by a 10th Century mantality and that the women in Saudi Arabia suffer on a daily basis at the hands of their male dominant counterparts. Sadly many of these women believe the following just as does its author. The following according to MEMRI is how the op-ed originally appeared.

Read and behold the sick mindset in the cities and towns, homes and madrassa's - in the land of Saudia:

"The Saudi Woman is Born Unwanted"

"The Saudi woman is guilty. She is guilty of being born in a male-dominated society. Her fault is that she grows up in a society that stigmatizes her sex as a sin. She is held accountable because society believes she is underage - even if she is in her 60s -and implements a guardianship system over her as if she were a second-class citizen. It is very common for a Saudi woman - a widow or a divorcee - to have her young son as her guardian, and she needs his written permission to carry out official paperwork. He is in control of her life and her destiny.

"The Saudi woman can be blamed for living in a male-dominated society that opposes many rights for women despite the fact that the Prophet (peace be upon him) - the best of all humans - consulted a woman and listened to her advice. The Saudi woman is guilty of living in a society that confuses tradition with Islamic obligations, and idolizes what it sees as the latter to the extent that when she wants to discuss or object, she is accused of rebellion. Her fault is that society considers her an item of her guardian's property. He can do anything he desires with her without asking her opinion or even listening to her.

"The Saudi woman is born unwanted. Everybody wants a male child rather than a female one.

"She is Guilty If She Remains Silent and Guilty If She talks"

"This innocent creature is forcibly taught what is prohibited and shameful before even knowing how to speak. She is guilty if she remains silent and guilty if she talks.

"She is guilty if she is divorced and guilty if she cleaves to her husband and children when someone tries unjustifiably to destroy her marriage. Her only refuge is prison, where she has the right to say no. She has lost all her rights and has fought for one that allows her to live only behind bars. Her sin is that she tried to protect her marriage and family. But traditions and customs challenged and destroyed her attempts.

"The Saudi Woman is Guilty for Being Raped"

"The Saudi woman is guilty for being raped, in darkness or in daylight, because her society wants her locked in, producing legal children and never leaving her house unless she is dead and of course accompanied by a guardian. She is guilty when brutal beasts tear her body and soul apart, threatening her with weapons and defamation because society believes she subjected herself to them and she deserves what happens to her.

"She is guilty because society prohibits her from driving and forces her to live at the mercy of a foreign driver. He might rape her one day or make money by allowing others to rape her, and then she will be the one who is blamed for having put herself in such position and went out with a driver without her legal guardian.

"The Saudi Woman is Guilty Because She is Part of her Guardian's Property"

"The Saudi woman is guilty because she is part of her guardian's property even when he is a criminal, serving time in jail and he marries her off to his colleague in prison who is awaiting execution. Society is aware of this and apparently sees no harm in such. In fact, the community blessed this marriage and arranged for them to be legally alone together. And the woman's fault is that she is the daughter of a criminal.

"She is Guilty when Others Confiscate Her Property... by Impersonating Her - And Her Greatest Sin is that Her Identity Stems From Her Guardian"

"The Saudi woman is guilty of being haunted by spinsterhood and not accepting misyar and all other types of male-invented marriages. She is also guilty if she accepts being abandoned by her husband when he feels tired and bored with her and wants a new wife. She is guilty if she objects to anything and her legal guardian beats her until he breaks her ribs or permanently disfigures her. His right is to beat her and make her obey and listen, even if that means deforming her physical features as a woman and taking away her beauty.

"She is guilty when others confiscate her property or real estate by impersonating her, and her greatest sin is that her identity stems from her guardian. The Saudi woman is always guilty and anyone who thinks of dealing with her humanely is a criminal."

Not once in this op-ed is Islam mention or how their religion is the reason their theocracy is thriving - worse, that it is Islam that epitomizes this mindset and that in the Hadith's, which outline the life of their Prophet Mohammed - it was his sick lifestyle that was the foundation of this mindset.

There is no humanity for Saudi women and that is because Islam is about dominance of all things woman. To control women they must demoralize them, intimidate them, and make them as the dogs in the street - otherwise the men could not justify this inhumane behavior. Suffice to say that it is the Koran and Hadith's that permits such treatment of women and demands of the men to enforce this treatment of women.

The Saudi women live behind the veil, literally.

The Buying of American Colleges - Miseducation in Academia

Much has been made about lobbying groups and while there has been a growing debate as to who is the most powerful lobbying group (no, gentle reader, it ain’t dem Jooz), we have all but ignored the real and far more dangerous lobbying effort already at work, already successful.

Always on Watch, had the following post a couple of weeks ago, it’s just too powerful and scary to ignore:

An accounting of the Saudi bucks infused into various universities all around the world has not been forthcoming as to the specificity of the usage of those funds. Isn’t it important to reveal just what impact those billions have had on curriculum and material presented to the next generation of our nation’s leaders?

Read this December 10, 2007 article in the Washington Times. Note that those Saudi bucks may be getting spread around in more places than you’ve heard of! No doubt you’ve heard about Prince Alwaleed’s gift of $20 million each to Georgetown and Harvard universities, but many other institutions have also received substantial amounts of money. Just how is that money being put to use? According to the article (emphases mine),

…Some call the Saudi gift Arab generosity and gratitude for the years American universities have educated the elite of the Arab world. Others say the sheer size of the donations amounts to buying influence and creating bastions of noncritical pro-Islamic scholarship within academia.

“There’s a possibility these campuses aren’t getting gifts, they’re getting investments,” said Clifford May, president of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. “Departments on Middle Eastern studies tend to be dominated by professors tuned to the concerns of Arab and Muslim rulers. It’s very difficult for scholars who don’t follow this line to get jobs and tenure on college campuses.

“The relationship between these departments and the money that pours in is hard to establish, but like campaign finance reform, sometimes money is a bribe. Sometimes it’s a tip.”

The $40 million gift from the Saudi donor, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, was the latest in a tradition that started in the 1970s — Muslim donors pumping millions of dollars into American universities to fund Islamic studies, hire faculty specialists in Islam and fund books and seminars on the world’s second-largest religion.

At Georgetown, [Prince Alwaleed’s] money was funneled toward its Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, which was quickly renamed the Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding. The center, part of the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, trains many of America’s diplomats.

…The center’s aim, according to its mission statement, is to “improve relations between the Muslim world and the West and enhance understanding of Muslims in the West.”

The center’s director, John Esposito, a prolific writer and praised by many as being a national authority on the religion, was severely criticized by several scholars for downplaying the threat of Islamic terrorism in the 1990s when he was a foreign affairs analyst for the State Department.

Mr. Esposito, “more than any other academic, contributed to American complacency prior to 9/11,” Martin Kramer, a fellow at the Olin Institute at Harvard, wrote in a Jan. 2, 2006, commentary on his blog, sandbox.blog-city.com.

“[Mr. Esposito has] proved that he’s still a magnet for Arab and Muslim money,” Mr. Kramer wrote. “Prince Alwaleed apparently decided that while Esposito’s reputation may be dented, the professor still has some value in him.”

Mr. Esposito declined to be interviewed for this article but did defend himself in several e-mails.

Mr. Esposito said the number of programs sponsored by his center went from 27 last year to 22 this semester alone. The first of three new faculty, Ibrahim Kalin, a scholar on Sufiism and Islamic philosophy, is slated to come on board next fall.

A month before the gift was publicly announced, Mr. Esposito was one of four persons flanking Prince Alwaleed before a photographer at the George V hotel in Paris. It was then that the prince told Georgetown officials of their $20 million windfall — and that Mr. Esposito would oversee how the money was spent.

“The prince knew very well Georgetown’s in a milieu filled with lobbyists and opinion makers; thus any program of his will exert more influence there than at a university not in a power center like Washington,” Mr. Meyers said. “The grant also gave Esposito a much bigger microphone. When you’ve got a $20 million institute, that amplifies your voice considerably.”

The Saudi Embassy’s press office did not respond to requests for comment on this article, and a spokeswoman for Prince Alwaleed said he was “too busy” to respond.

In 1979, Saudi Aramco World magazine published a list of recent Middle Eastern gifts, including…$750,000 from the Libyan government for a chair of Arab culture at Georgetown University; and $250,000 from the United Arab Emirates for a visiting professorship of Arab history, also at Georgetown.

In 1986, Saudi arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi donated $5 million toward a sports center to be named after him at American University….

There are 17 federally funded centers on American college campuses devoted solely to Middle Eastern studies centers and another 30 to 40 that do not receive federal aid, according to Amy Newhall, executive director of the Middle East Studies Association at the University of Arizona. Not counting several positions at Georgetown University, she estimated at least 10 chaired professorships currently funded by Saudis at major universities.

“With all the talk of the Israel lobby, no one talks about the Saudi lobby,” Mr. Meyers said. “There is no counterweight to Saudi influence in American higher education.”

Indeed, Ain-al-Yaqeen reported that King Fahd has spent “billions of Saudi riyals,” around the world.

“In terms of Islamic institutions, the result is some 210 Islamic centers wholly or partly financed by Saudi Arabia, more than 1,500 mosques and 202 colleges and almost 2,000 schools for educating Muslim children in non-Islamic countries in Europe, North and South America, Australia and Asia,” the paper reported.

Mr. Kramer, also the author of “Ivory Towers on Sand: The Failure of Middle Eastern Studies in America,” says American universities have allowed themselves to be purveyors of Saudi influence and opinion.

“Universities generate ideas, and [Prince Alwaleed] regards one idea — the ‘clash of civilizations” — as positively dangerous to Arabs and Muslims,” he wrote on his Web site, martinkramer.org. “So he has embarked on a grand giving spree, to create academic ‘bridges” between Islam and the West, and specifically between the Arab world and the United States …

“The mind boggles at the possibilities, when you think of the purchasing power of the world’s fifth-richest man,” Mr. Kramer continued. “Of course, this is why we can’t ever expect to get the straight story on Saudi Arabia, Wahhabism and oil from people who operate within Middle Eastern studies. If you want a fabulously wealthy Saudi royal to drop out of the sky in his private jet and leave a few million, you had better watch what you say — which means you had better say nothing.”

Prince Alwaleed, 52, — who slipped from the fifth richest person in 2005 to the 13th this year, according to Forbes magazine — is best known to some Americans as the man who offered $10 million to the victims of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City. That money was rejected by Rudolph W. Giuliani, then the mayor, after the prince scolded the U.S. for favoring Israelis over Palestinians.

In 2002, [Prince Alawaleed] donated $500,000 to the George Herbert Walker Bush Scholarship Fund, established by the Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass. In 2006, he donated $10 million to the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

He defends such gifts in interviews, saying that he has financed study programs about American culture overseas, including a $10 million gift to found a Center for American Studies at American University in Cairo and $5.2 million for a similar center at American University in Beirut.

Prince Alwaleed’s Cairo and Beirut projects explain American culture, but according to their Web sites, offer no courses in Christianity — America’s majority religion. Meanwhile, typical courses at the Georgetown center are “Islamic Theological Development” and “Islamic Religious Thought and Practice.”

“Islamists such as the radical fundamentalists seen with the Saudi Wahhabis exploit American universal tolerance to provide a vehicle for the dissemination of their propaganda free of critique,” [Zuhdi Jasser] said…

The interfaithing street seems to run one way, in Wahhabism’s direction. So much for promoting understanding among various religions on university campuses around the world. Courtesy of the Saudis, of course.

Mark Alexander reminded me yesterday of this little saying: “He who pays the piper calls the tune.” Prince Alawaleed certainly understands the meaning of that proverb, but Western ostriches refuse to pull their heads from the sand.

9/11 is fading into distant memory. We’re lulled into complacency. Meanwhile, Islamification is proceeding quietly as the next generation is being turned into the generation of Islamophilia.

Remember the words of CAIR’s Ibrahim Hooper:

“I wouldn’t want to create the impression that I wouldn’t like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future…But I’m not going to do anything violent to promote that. I’m going to do it through education.”

Saudi is using education as the sword of Islam. And petro-dollars are funding the process.

You will not find, however, any academic institution that will even think of giving back give these 30 talents of petrodollars. OK, so the resulting education may be tinged with a new version of reality and ugly revisionism… but think of the MONEY!!! All those liberal professors, who so despise the West and its values (capitalism, being chief among the seven deadly sins they profess to oppose) , have no compunctions in accepting millions from those whose interest lies far away from and in direct opposition to “liberal arts.” They have no compunctions accepting millions from those whose only interest is to subvert all free speech, all debate, those who seek to silence anyone who dares question why indoctrination suddenly became synonymous with education.

No doubt these useful idiots (who, meanwhile, are laughing all the way to the bank!) will either be among the first victims of the IslamoFascists when they do take over or they will gladly adapt the new religion as they expect to be rewarded by becoming part of the ruling elite. Henry IV, the first Bourbon king of France was a a devout Huguenot before becoming French King. Since France would only have a Catholic on its throne, Henry converted at Ste. Germain L’Auxerrois because - as he put it - “Paris is well worth a mass!” So much for principles and convictions…

King Henry, however, unlike these so called “academics” who specialize in subverting the very process of education, turned out to be one of the best loved French Kings. Henri le Grand - Henry the Great also known by his subjects as Le Bon Roi Henri - The good King Henry, was genuinely interested in the welfare and religious freedom of his people. His reign became known for its prosperity and relatively peaceful times. Today’s “academics,” however, are much more interested in the pursuit of their particularly leftist agenda than in anything that might remotely resemble education.

Each of these illustrious professors boasts of his/her Marxist and anti Western ideas, but… as they decry capitalism it is they who embraced and adapted every evil deed and method for which the early capitalist moguls - known as the Robber Barons - became infamous. The more things change the more they stay the same! Interesting how today’s Marxist left has adapted the most disgusting and reactionary, greedy, methodology of early capitalism and became the Robbers of Education!

Twenty Billion, Thirty Billion

Dhimmi Watch had the following today:

The Bush Administration announces in the same breath that “over ten years” Israel will receive “$30 billion in weapons,” and that Saudi Arabia will get “$20 billion” in weapons to stave off Iran (over what time period? 10 years, like the Israelis? Or more like a year or two?). And it announces also that, furthermore, a country that is in every way hostile to us, Egypt, will receive “$13 billion” in weapons as a gift.

What shall we say about this? Israel is not only a temporary ally but a permanent ally. It is a permanent part of the West and central to the West’s history, at this point, and must be kept alive not only for our own moral sanity, but also because its disappearance, or reduction to dhimmitudinous despair and reliance on Arab Muslim willingness to allow it to survive would whet, not sate, Arab and Muslim appetites. But this weapons transfer, billed as “$30 billion,” in fact is misleading. Over ten years that amounts to $3 billion a year in weapons aid, which is only one-quarter over the amount now given, and gratefully received. (And need one point out how many advances, in aerospace technology, and in everything from unmanned aircraft to explosives-resistant vehicles that ought to have been, but were not bought, by the Pentagon for use in Iraq, are developed by the Israelis for their, and of course our, use?)

With James “F*** the Jews” Baker and his aparatchicks running the show at Foggy Bottom and Defense did anyone really think the spin would go any different? But… I digress!

Saudi Arabia, per contra, is our enemy. A permanent enemy, because it is a country whose people are suffused with the most uncompromising, violent, and malevolent — for Infidels — version of Islam. For in Saudi Arabia they take their Islam very, very seriously. Saudi Arabia is not worried about an invasion by Iran. Such fears are phony. The whole hysteria, coordinated with Egypt and Jordan, about the “Shi’a crescent” is merely designed to get the Americans to focus only on Iran (and its current accomplice, Syria) and to ignore the much larger threat, outside the local business in Iraq, that Sunni Islam poses to Infidels. It is designed to get them to ignore also that above all other states, Saudi Arabia is the world’s Muslims’ chief financier, paying for mosques, madrasas, propaganda, campaigns of Da’wa, and the buying up of Western hirelings who in the capitals of the West — and certainly in Washington — work to do the Saudi bidding. They work to prevent intelligent understanding of the menace of Jihad and of Islam to our legal and political institutions and to our physical security.

It is absurd to think that the Saudis will master this equipment, but not absurd to think that such weaponry could fall into the hands of Arabs and other Muslims who can master some of it. In any case, the mere possession of such weapons would have to be taken into account by Israeli military planners, and will make their own task even more hellishly difficult, and they don’t deserve to have that outcome. When the United States protested about a sale of aerospace technology, developed by the Israelis, to China, Israel, at great cost to its own fledgling aerospace dreams, promptly cancelled the sale — thereby angering China and permanently damaging any hope of future sales to such a market. But Israel listened and heeded our desires. We, however, or at least this and other American administrations, have not ever heeded Israel’s pleas on the same score.

And what is also bad is the signal to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia should be read the riot act. Saudi Arabia should be told it is not “our ally,” and if it wishes to be defended, it will obviously have to rely, in the end, on us — not on weapons that could fall into hands even more malevolent than the Al-Saud (just as the weapons we sold the Shah, that “pillar of stability” in the Persian Gulf, fell into the clutches of the Islamic Republic of Iran). Thus if these weapons are delivered, we would have to be ready to intervene in order to make sure those weapons were not seized, or transferred, to others. Saudi Arabia was a loyal supporter of the Taliban (and one of only two countries to recognize the Taliban government, besides Pakistan). Saudi Arabia must be forced to stop funding mosques and madrasas, stop funding the hate literature against Infidels that have been found in those mosques and those madrasas, stop funding those campaigns of Da’wa that target prisoners, that target all the psychically and economically marginal.

The Saudis do not now do, and never have done, the United States any favors. We buy their oil at the market price. They have fooled successive American policymakers, who wanted to be fooled. They were helped along in being fooled by so many who, directly or indirectly, at the time or soon after, have been paid off by the Saudis, the government, or its institutions, or rich individuals.

And as long as America’s enemy Number 1, James “F*** the Jews” Baker, continues to both have powerful friends here and continues as the Royal House of Saud’s Consigliere, we will continue to be fooled over and over and over… until the Saudis have attained their goal!

The way to “protect” the Al-Saud and the oilfields is quite different. It is to sell Saudi Arabia an insurance policy. We will guarantee the safety of the rulers and of the oil. It will cost: let’s say $50-100 billion annually. Too much, you say? Well, since Saudi Arabia takes in about one billion dollars a day, and since the rich Saudis have invested a lot overseas, have perhaps a trillion or more socked away, they can certainly afford $50-$100 billion. Okay, how about a little souk-haggling, in that case? Let’s give them a deal — $75 billion a year. How’s that? As long as you agree with the concept, we can at a later date decide just how much we intend to recoup, for the Iraq calamity and squandering of $880 billion, from the fabulous rich Saudis.

As long as James “F*** the Jews” Baker, continues hobnobbing with the powerful here, while continuing as Consigliere for the Royal House of Saud without needing to register as a foreign agent, Saudi Arabia will continue to thumb its nose at us! And as long as that does continues to happen, the half hearted and selective pursuit of the “War on Terror” will merely be little more than a bumper-sticker, albeit a very bloody one.

And what about Egypt? Can it seriously be maintained that Egypt needs those weapons because the army of Shi’a Iran may march right across northern Iraq, and Jordan, and Israel, and march right into Egypt? Really? Or is it possible that Egypt needs those weapons because Iranian troops will be coming up from the Sudan? Or that somehow the Sunnis of Egypt, who are deeply distrustful and intensely dislike the Iranian Shi’a for being non-Arabs and for being Shi’a, would somehow be converted by Shi’a missionaries? And if that were the case, why would giving Egypt the most advanced weaponry help in stopping those missionary efforts?

Egypt has fought four major wars with Israel, and has been responsible for nearly 20,000 separate fedayin attacks in the period 1949-1956 on Israel. It has been, and remains, the most dangerous neighbor Israel has. Egypt does not go to war not because its people have reconciled themselves to Israel’s existence — if anything, they have become since the Sinai handover even more virulent in their officially-sanctioned and officially-promoted hatred of Israel and Zionists and “Jews.” Yet the Administration thinks that giving weapons to Egypt, a country whose poor will not benefit one whit from the airplanes and missiles Egypt will receive, will somehow be accepted by the American people and by Congress, that we will all be unable to see right through this.

The lumped announcement of the one legitimate arms delivery planned — that to our ally and friend Israel — at the same time, in the same breath, with the announcement of the gift of advanced weaponry to Israel’s constant threat Egypt, and the sale of advanced weaponry to the funder of the worldwide Jihad, Saudi Arabia, shows an Administration that is terminally exhausted. It cannot think straight about Islam. It cannot begin to start to think straight about the dangers it is creating for an ally, and for the larger Infidel world. It can’t begin to get a grip and think in terms of the Camp of Infidels and the Camp of Islam, and how to do whatever it takes to weaken the latter and strengthen the former.

Instead, it has swallowed the Sunni Arab line about the need for countering the Shi’a threat (as if there were not, for Infidels, a greater Sunni threat), which means the threat to the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, and to Bahrain, and among the Shi’a agitating in Lebanon, or those Shi’a minorities in Yemen and Kuwait. And of course they also mean the threat in Iraq, if the Shi’a are permitted to keep their new gains, and the Sunnis to be forced to accept the new order. That is why, just as the Shi’a exiles were the ones who helped inveigle the Bush Administration to go into Iraq, it is now the turn of the Sunnis, to inveigle us — against our own best interests — to stay.

The Administration keeps amazing us with its ignorance and inability to see the whole picture.

And in its list of recipients of the arms, the Bush Administration puts one in mind of the scene in a Woody Allen film, in which he is in at a kiosk in New York telling the newsdealer that “I’d like a copy of The Times Literary Supplement, and The New York Review Books, and The Hudson Review and also Partisan Review and, oh, could you just throw in a copy of Slut.”

Let’s face it, gentle reader, as much as we desperately need oil for our economy to function the Saudis need us at least as much! Who else will defend them from the Iranians? Who can replace us as their main oil customer? If instead of pursuing the failed diktats of James “F*** the Jews” Baker and his boys’ unrealistic Realpolitik, if we were truly serious about the war on terror, if it meant more than a mere slogan, or bumper-sticker, then perhaps we should stop paying the dhimmi’s jyzia tax and stand up to our rightful place! Saudi Arabia certainly has every reason to believe that James “F*** the Jews” Baker is well worth his weight in oil… at least thirty pieces of silver’s worth (plus an allowance for 2000 years of inflation)! But why must we, go along with this involuntary taxation. Perhaps the time has come to tell James “F*** the Jews” Baker and his lapdogs at Foggy Bottom and Defense that it’s time for them to move to Saudi Arabia, where they can happily don kefiyas or hijabs… far away from us!

A Clear Message to Ahmedinajad and the US

At this past week’s summit in the beautiful Sharm Al-Sheikh resort, in the Sinai peninsula, where Iraq’s security and future were discussed, the putrid little maggot, Ahmedinajad and his handlers the Ayatollahs were sent a message, as the Editor-in-Chief of the Arab Times sees it. On his Opinion piece from yesterday, Saturday, May the 5th, he writes:

[…]Participants of the Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit decided the US cannot leave Iraq at this juncture to ensure it won’t fall prey to Iran, which is trying to take over this Arab country using its sectarian influence, and the might of its militias and the Revolutionary Guards.Iran should understand the message of this summit and realize the fact that all issues concerning Arabs are represented by Saudi Arabia and Egypt, the two biggest Arab countries. Tehran should know it cannot challenge these two countries because any such move will affect all Iranians and cause alarm bells to ring peace in the Gulf region. Iran should know Arab countries don’t want to see their neighbouring country attacked for its arrogance.

The Iranian regime should understand its real size and limitations, and the role it can play. Leaders of the regime should realize they are not ruling a superpower but a developing country, which is incapable of playing certain roles which don’t suit the rest of the world.

On the sidelines of the Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met Syrian Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Moalem. In the meeting Al-Moalem received a clear message that Syria should wear its original Arab outfit and not somebody else’s clothes. This means Damascus should not help Iran or try to change the reference of Arab issues.
All countries in the Gulf region seek stability and security. They believe only a local and strong country, which does not suffer poverty, unemployment, idle factories, stagnant export and import activities can play a meaningful and substantial role in this issue.

Both Syria and Iran are incapable of playing a substantial international role. Tehran’s attempt to continue with its nuclear programme to increase its “weight” won’t succeed as long as Iran is not self sufficient and suffers a sluggish economy.
The Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit has brought Iraq back under the umbrella of Arab countries. It has returned Arab reference to its original owners and proved that the United States is still capable of leading the world. The summit has proved the Americans have not retreated or weakened. It has also confirmed the United States has not and will not attempt to deal with any “accidental” party other than a reliable Arab reference.

Before I comment let me also quote from his editorial of today: Sunday. May 6th.

IT appears the message of Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit has reached Iran and Syria faster than we expected because Damascus has described the summit the beginning of a thousand miles journey. As the torch-bearers of Sunnis Saudi Arabia and Egypt have launched an initiative to reduce the debts of Iraq and voice their protest against Iraq becoming a battleground to settle the disputes between the United States and Iran.

Tehran, which has also got the message, has chosen to confront the Americans and describe them as supporters of terrorism in Iraq. Tehran believes terrorist activities exploded in Iraq after its occupation by the United States and considers this a good reason to create tense relations with Saudi Arabia. The reaction to the Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit has been fast. The summit’s message to Iran was firm and strict. The Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit ordered Tehran to understand its real size, reconsider its regional policies and quit trying to be a reference for Arab issues.

Maybe Iran can support Arab issues, but it doesn’t have the authority to compete and take over the historical reference of the Sunni sect because this role belongs to Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Shiites in Iraq should react to these messages as they don’t belong to Al-Faqaih of Iran as a reference. They should understand their interests are linked to cooperating with the Americans in Iraq. Currently Iran is under pressure to abandon its role in Lebanon, Iraq and Palestine. If it doesn’t it should expect the return of a new Sultan Saleem of the Ottoman Empire, who ended the Sufi movement of Ismail Shah over 500 years ago. The Sufi movement was based on planting hatred against Arabs for the killing of Imam Al-Hussein (PBUH) and members of Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) family.

The Iranian regime, which is still being influenced by the movement of Ismail Shah, wants to control the faith of over 1.6 billion Sunni Muslims. By ordering Iran to get out of Lebanon and Iraq, and leave the Palestinians alone the Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit stands as a high and solid wall in the face of Tehran’s plans.

The Syrian regime, which considers these orders as the first phase, still has a good opportunity to join the Arab Sunni reference. For this Damascus should stop being a follower of the Iranian regime, which as a minority cannot stand long against Saudi Arabia which played a vital role in giving Iran a second opportunity to avoid further escalations. The Iranian regime has to come back to its senses, especially since the wind is not blowing in the direction of its sail.

In short, gentle reader, the Arab world fully recognizes that not only are today’s Iranian leaders a main source of instability in the region, but they unequivocally declared that an early American exit from Iraq, would mean a disaster for the region and the world at large.

There is also another message here, just as important though somewhat less visible, by ordering Iran to get out of Lebanon and Iraq, and leave the Palestinians alone the Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit stands as a high and solid wall in the face of Tehran’s plans. Ahmed Al-Jarallah, who penned both opinions quoted above, also said this past summer at the beginning of Lebanon II, The operations of Israel in Gaza and Lebanon are in the interest of people of Arab countries and the interrnational community. Perhaps, the Arab nation, however reluctantly, and strictly because of its own selfish interest may be signaling Israel that the time for talks has come…

We can discuss ad nauseum whether the US should or should not have gotten into Iraq, but even those who are totally against the coalition forces being in Iraq must concede that the past cannot be changed. Thus we must decide how do we proceed from here. Do we leave Iraq at a previously specified date, thereby causing the whole Middle East to destabilize and igniting a war that will eventually enmesh the entire world in its net? Or do we finish the job, while putting pressure on the democratically elected Iraqi government to step up to the plate and take full responsibility for its country’s re-entry into the brotherhood of civilized nations?

Participants of the Sharm Al-Sheikh Summit decided the US cannot leave Iraq at this juncture… The Summit, where the immense majority of participants were Arab nations but also included the US and representatives of Russia and the European Union, has made it absolutely clear that pandering to Iran would not stem the tide of war, that leaving Iraq at a predetermined date would only embolden the insurgency and destroy the region. Moreover, the summit served notice to the Iranians that, that the United States is still capable of leading the world. The summit has proved the Americans have not retreated or weakened.

Perhaps, Pelosi, Reid, et al will listen to the region’s leaders and their interests, as opposed to listening to George Soros and Moveon.org. Arab leaders are feeling threatened by the US Congress latest moves and, frankly, as long as we have not developed alternate energy sources, the Arabs are much needed. At the same we must understand and let them know, they need the West even more than we need them. The Levant is still a poor, backward area where the ruling elite are the only ones who enjoy a decent standard of living. They desperately need those petrodollars even more than we need their oil.

Yet, the Democrat Party’s strings are pulled by those whose extreme ideas would never get them elected even as dogcatchers. George Soros said right before the last election, right after he spent a fortune (which more than 99% of us will never see in a whole lifetime of hard work) on moveon.org and other such organizations that if George Bush becomes President, he George Soros would join a monastery. Unfortunately his words, like the shreds of his honor, are worthless! Shouldn’t a man of honor, a man of such preeminence have kept his promises rather than continue to shove his bankrupt ideas down the throats of a people who doesn’t want them? Yet Pelosi, Reid and the rest of the Democrats willingly take their cue from such unelected, unelectable, political thugs!

Madame Pelosi, now wants to meet with Chávez, an opportunist increasingly acquiring the full trappings of a dictator. She recently, in spite of requests to the contrary by the State Department, traveled to Syria to rescue Baby Assad from the ranks of international political pariahs. While there, in a goodwill gesture she not only covered her hair with expensive (and stylishly beautiful!) Hermès Scarves as she visited the Damascus market but interestingly… she uncovered her hair and showed her liberal side, when alone with baby Assad… Now she is making new overtures in an effort to meet and hold, close to her bosom, that putrid little maggot, Ahmedinajad…

It is interesting that while hobnobbing with America’s enemies, with those who are trampling on all human rights and killing innocents she would not meet with Colombia’s President Alvaro Uribe, who not only managed to disarm paramilitary groups in his country but has destroyed thousand of acres of cocaine growing fields while Chávez was cited in a UN study as an international drug dealer… If she is truly concerned with human rights violations should she not be consistent in her choice of dancing partners?

It is interesting to note that Pelosi, who run a campaign of ridding Washington of corruption and excessive pork to every bill leaving Congress on its way to the White House, has sent more pork in her first 100 days than any of her predecessors while accomplishing a hell of a lot less than any of her predecessors. It is interesting to note that while she has no interest in meeting America’s friends, she is tripping over herself to rush and embrace America’s enemies. Unless the Democratic Party is willing to return again to be the party of the likes Zel Miller, the party that made America great, a Democratic victory in 2008 only spells the demise of America and the fruition of George Soros’ fondest dream.

Saudi Arabia: "Trespasser" Sentenced By Islamic Court To Beheading

Saudi Arabia, purported ally of the West, is as far from the West as a country can be. A story from New India Press demonstrates how alien the country is.

An Indian national, 31-year old Jojo Joseph, wanted to see his wife, who worked as a nurse near Medina. She had just given birth to their son. Mr Joseph, who was based in Jeddah, where he was an employee of an electronics company, traveled towards where he thought his wife was based, and lost his way. He found himself on the road to Medina.

Unbeknownst to Mr Joseph, during the pilgrimage season, this road was forbidden to non-Muslims. He was arrested by police at Al-Azeez, and was hauled before a religious court on Monday. Full of that Islamic tolerance which the Saudis like to promote in the West, the religious court ordered that Mr Joseph should have his head sliced off on Tuesday, merely for "trespassing into a Muslim-only area".

Mr Joseph told his relatives back home in Mariyapuram, India, who contacted Oommen Chandy, leader of the opposition and former chief minister of Kerala state. Chandy contacted the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia and various ministers.As a result, the External Affairs secretary managed to convince the Saudi Government that Mr Joseph had merely become lost and had no malicious intent. When the Saudis insist on promoting their religion in the West, and fund groups like CAIR to change the legislation in Muslims' favor, one wonders how they would feel if Muslims were ordered to be decapitated for trespassing on kaffir territory.....

UPDATE: The same story as above is carried by The Hindu, but the Arab News tells a different tale entirely. There are still elements which disturb.The Arab News states that he was a passenger in a taxi, and therefore the taxi-driver should have been blamed for taking "Jojo" into a forbidden area. It reads:There is no recorded incident where a non-Muslim was executed for entering restricted space in Madinah or Makkah. Authorities generally treat these violations in much the same way trespassing is dealt with. In cases where the violation seems accidental, authorities will simply escort the trespasser out of the prohibited zone.

Joseph was arrested and detained for three days after the taxi apparently took the wrong route and strayed into the prohibited zone of the city. The man was rushing to a hospital where his wife had given birth. Persons volunteering as morality enforcers spotted the man's maroon work/residency visa (denoting the carrier is non-Muslim) and called police. Source: Western Resistance

As Goes Lebanon So Goes the Middle East

Watching the news a moment ago my Beloved Curmudgeon noted that the newscast used and entire 3 minute segment on whether or not the United States had been wiretapping Princess Diana prior to her death in 1997. Following that segment, there was a 30 second segment on the looming crisis in Lebanon.

The crisis in Lebanon is of Biblical proportions and yet it only warrents 30 seconds of time on the evening news.

If Lebanon falls, the middle east will be rocked with even more chaos and anarchy. The jihadists are emboldened, thanks to the perceived weakness of the United States. Of course this has been helped along by the constant undermining by the main stream media, the progressives and the silly report put out by Baker and Hamilton.

Our enemies have tried to warn us repeatedly. Our allies are virtually jumping up and down, waving, trying to get our attention. Still, we sit in front of our television sets and PlayStations and ignore the Global War on Terrorism that is swirling all around us. So far, we have been relatively untouched. Not to worry, our ability to ignore the rest of the world is quickly coming to an end.

If Lebanon falls, the same process will begin in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait and Egypt. Then the process will begin in France, England and other European countries with large muslim populations. Israel will not likly be able to survive a scenerio of this magnitude. The only way the United States will be able to survive would be to garner an enormous army.

The students so comfortable in their ivy league schools, who so quickly 'protest' anyone who says something they don't like, and then return to their Mercedes to drive to their suburban homes, will have to take a stand on something that REALLY matters. They will be taken out of their comfort zones this time.

It seems that everyone, but America, understands what's at stake. Everyone. It seems that everyone is attempting to wake Americans up. They can't seem to get our attention and are becoming increasingly desperate. Everyone knows America is the only nation capable of dealing with the enormity of this problem. But America sleeps.

Even worse, America is insisting on sending out messages that we are not willing to do what has to be done to end this. We lack the will. Just like every time in the past that we've buried our heads in the sand, more people will die because of our unwillingness to sacrifice even our most meager comforts.

Pope Benedict XVI calls this a grave moment in history. He pleads with the world to pray for Lebanon and provide assistance. He calls the situation grave and urgent.

I also hope that the international community will help to identify urgent pacific and fair solutions necessary for Lebanon and the entire Middle East, while I invite all to prayer during this grave time.”

The Lebanese people are protesting against hezbollah. Following the assasinations of Christian leaders in Lebanon, the protests have intensified.

Cardinal Sfeir , the highest Christian spiritual authority warned that “wars start with words”. He cautioned that the insults and aggressive statements against government individuals are bad news for Lebanon as they spell evil for the future of this country.

Sfeir warned that no one one is thinking about the Lebanese people, whose aim is to survive with their families in harmony and away from violence. But unfortunately these continued protests are making it impossible to survive, since the economy as a result of these protests is in despair.

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah is trying to warn the world of the dire consequences should Lebanon fall.

"Our Arab region is besieged by a number of dangers, as if it was a powder keg waiting for a spark to explode," he told the rulers of the oil-rich monarchies gathered in Riyadh for a two-day meeting.

Abdullah warned that Lebanon risked sliding into renewed civil strife as a result of the current standoff between pro- and anti-government camps.

"In Lebanon, we see dark clouds threatening the unity of the homeland, which risks sliding again into... conflict among the sons of the same country," he said.

Israeli leaders are watching the situation with a clear understanding of what it means for Israel.

Israeli officials warned Sunday that the fall of the moderate Lebanese government could lead to the establishment of an Iranian proxy state on Israel's northern border and increase the probability of war between the two nations.

"If the Saniora government falls, it means that Lebanon will be controlled by the long arm of Iran,"

Lebanon chaos is Israeli nightmare.

JERUSALEM – Israel is deeply troubled by menacing Hezbollah-led mass demonstrations in Beirut, fearing it could lead to a permanent and dominant Iranian-Syrian presence on its northern border.

In that event, Iran again would be able to threaten Israel with massive rocket attacks from Lebanon if Israel or the US takes military action against Iran’s nuclear program. In other words, the Iranians again would be able to use their Hezbollah card to deter Israel from trying to stop Iran from going nuclear.

“If Hezbollah gains sway in Beirut, Lebanon will become the first Iranian protectorate.”

This dire, urgent, grave, evil situation is unfolding right now and our media determines it should get 30 seconds of coverage in the evening news. The warning signs are everywhere and still America sleeps.. The longer we avoid this conflict, the more will die because of it.

I think not.

Religious Freedom...Or Else!

Pope makes final appeal in Turkey for freedom of religion.

A final appeal? To whom?

Istanbul, Dec 02: With a flight of doves freed into the air and a final appeal for freedom of religion, Pope Benedict XVI on Saturday prepared to conclude his eventful four-day trip to Turkey, his first to a Muslim land.

"You know well that the church wishes to impose nothing on anyone, and that she merely asks to live in freedom," the Pope said in his homily during the second and final mass of his trip at the cathedral of the holy spirit here.

"The church's mission is not to preserve power or to gain wealth; her mission is to offer Christ," he said, speaking in French.

In a final reference to relations between Turkey and Europe -- one of the major topics, as it turned out, of his trip here -- Benedict XVI said: "how can we fail to think of the various events which took place here and forged our common history?"

Benedict XVI released four doves as a symbol of peace into the air at the entrance of the Cathedral and once inside, met ecumenical patriarch Bartholomew I, who hosted the Pope at a St. Andrew's Day orthodox mass here yesterday and ushered him to his pew.

Both men have made a priority of working for rapprochement between their respective churches, which have been estranged for nearly 10 centuries.

A smiling Benedict XVI was greeted at the gates of Istanbul's main catholic church by a group of children playing tambourines and chanting his name.

He was applauded several times as he walked into the Cathedral.

Warning : Average Islamic Violence

At least the Eastern Orthodox have the right attitude. My feeling is much different regarding the attitude of the Muslim's "Overlordish" approach to the Pope's visit in Turkey. Where the Pope faced Mecca with them, I won't hold my breath to see them geneuflect before an altar anytime soon.

It has to be religious freedom for the world or...it will be Sharia Law. Now, for those who worry about the religious freedoms of the flying Imams and the Muslim Congressman remember the religious freedoms that the "religion of pieces" allows and imagine what America's future will be like if we keep "bending over" for them...kind of like the guy in this clip.

Gulf ships on alert over al-Qaeda threat

The Royal Navy has warned merchant ships in the Gulf to be on their guard after an al-Qaeda threat to target oil terminals in the area.

Coalition naval forces in the area have been put on watch for possible terror threats to oil facilities in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, officials said.

A Royal Navy official said the threat had resulted in increased security and vigilance at Saudi Arabia's Ras Tanura terminal, as well as at a refinery in Bahrain. But oil exports were proceeding as normal, he said.

The Royal Navy, part of the Italian-led Coalition Task Force 152 that patrols international waters off the Ras Tanura terminal, sent an e-mail yesterday warning merchant shipping in the region of Bahrain and eastern Saudi Arabia to be alert for suspicious vessels or activity.

The US navy's 5th fleet, based in Bahrain, said it was aware of the British warning.

The British official said coalition ships were sticking to international waters and had not been invited to patrol inside Saudi Arabia's territorial waters near the terminal.

"The Saudis are very protective of their patch," the British official in Dubai said. He described the patrols as normal naval operations that had been under way since 2002, though on a heightened state of alert for the past month.

This is, in part, a response to a videotaped message from al-Qaida's deputy leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was released on the 5th anniversary of 9/11.

In the video the terrorist leader warned the Persian Gulf region and Israel would be the group's next targets. He also accused Western powers of stealing what he called Muslim oil.

US State Department spokesman Sean McCormack says the United States is ready to help Saudi Arabia fight threats from terrorist groups.

"There have been calls by al-Qaida to attack Saudi oil facilities in the recent past," he said. "These are not new. You go back in the record you can see these threats previously. We will do everything that we can, if there is a request for assistance, both in general terms or specific terms to assist the Saudi government."

McCormack declined to discuss specific threats to Saudi facilities or whether the United States has received any requests to defend them.

I doubt if the British has not recieved a request to defend the Saudis and Bahrain, niether has the US. But we always seem to be ready to defend our allies. That's just the way we are.

Saudi Mufti Defends Spirit Of Jihad

RIYADH -- Saudi Arabia's leading religious figure, the grand mufti, Sunday defended the spirit of jihad, or holy war, as a God-given right, weighing in on the controversy over the pope's remarks on Islam.

"God ...authorized the faithful to defend themselves and to fight against those fighting them, which amounts to a right legitimized by God," he said.

"The order to fight did not start with the Prophet Mohammed ... Other prophets fought their enemies, including the prophets of the Israelites such as Moses and David," said the mufti.

Actually the order to fight given to the Israelites were against the Canaanites and the inhabitants of the "Promised Land" ...long before Mohammed created Islam and turned those orders against the Jews, the Christians, and the non-believers. It is concievable, though not particularly to my liking, that God would order the slaughter and removal of people to provide land for Abrahan's sons, as the Bible states. After all it was God they thought was guiding them. But...Did God authorize conversion by the sword? Well...Not in any Bible I've ever read...and trust me I own and have read many.

Comparing God's revelation to the Muslims and to the Jews is truly comparing apples and oranges ...or should I say halal and kosher.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Jihad, a principle of Islam is not for imposing religious belief on others, it is a liberation movement and campaign against slavery.

In a meeting with members of the headquarters in charge of organizing prayers congregations, the Supreme Leader said that it is unjust to be ignorant of the principle of Jihad, and at the same time introduce it in a bad way -- a reference to a statement made by Pope Benedict XVI who misportrayed Jihad to link Islam to violence.

"The first aspect of Pope's statement is the accusation he brought against Islam and the second aspect is that the Pope has rushed to the aid of hegemonist powers to create religious conflict between Muslims and Christians."

Which Pope are we talking about? The current one or the one circa 600 AD? This is NOT A NEW CONFLICT!

"The Pope's statement revealed the backdrop of conspiracy of the arrogant powers to create tension between religions and lead followers of different religions to stand against each other rather than cooperate in the international community," the Supreme Leader said.

"Western papers had attempted to incite crusade by printing caricatures against Islam and the Pope's statement is a new link of the same chain."

Also he said: "Those who benefit from the pope's comments and drive their own arrogant policies should be targeted with attacks and protests," he said, referring to the United States. [Can anyone say redundant?]
