What about the Karbala laptop and was this an act of war?

Originally posted at Right Truth

Threats Watch says, " ... the January 20 attack on soldiers from an American Civil Affairs Unit in Karbala, Iraq, was an operation planned and carried out by members of the Iranian Qods Force extraterritorial unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)"

If Iran is guilty, is this an ACT OF WAR against the United States by Iran? If so, how will the United States respond? How will we deal with the traitors who gave intelligence to the terrorists who abducted our American soldiers and proceeded to execute them in cold blood with a bullet to the head?

How the United States reacts to this incident can be seen as a barometer for how the Bush Administration intends to deal with the world’s foremost state sponsor of terrorism in both the short and intermediate term. This – a test - may have been a significant part of the probable Iranian decision to go forth with the operation, Chizari’s personal satisfaction aside. Threats Watch

In my original story, Something Stinky in Karbala and the Green Zone, I covered the coordinated attack upon Americans by men carrying American weapons, and wearing new U.S. military combat fatigues, driving SUV's that looked similar to U.S. government convoys, spoke English, and even looked American (one having blond hair).

What I missed was the one time mention of a computer, a laptop, that was also taken with the Americans. On Fox News the 'generals' who were commenting on the Karbala attack, also mentioned the laptop in passing conversation. But no news source, internet source, or other source is going into any detail about the computer. What was on the computer? Was the computer the main objective of this mission?

On January 27th, an Associated Press Report included a curious sentence in an overview of the attack:

"The attackers captured four soldiers and fled with them and the computer east toward Mahawil in Babil province, crossing the Euphrates River, the U.S. military officials said." (AP)

No mention of a computer appears anywhere else in the article, yet the article appears to have been written as if it was. While all the media outlets have been describing the attack as a kidnapping, the AP article hints at another possible reason for the raid, a military laptop. Elusive, well financed, supported, and trained attackers took four Americans and a laptop, within hours they killed the Americans. Was the computer the real target? Were the American soldiers kidnapped to provide the password and then killed? (Small War Council via Chris Albon

Other important aspects of this attack:

The attack in Karbala where 5 American soldiers were shot in the head made me wonder if the Iraqi police were involved or at least complicit. Now I wonder if this goes straight to top. One of the vehicles had a license plate registered to Iraq's minister of trade, Abdul Falah al-Sudani, a Shiite who belongs to the Dawa party whose members include Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. Al-Sudani lives in the Green Zone and denied that the plate had been stolen. (Macon.com)

Ownership documents were found in two of the vehicles. No one seems to know where the military uniforms or IDs came from, but the SUV's traveled to Karbala along the road leading from Najaf, where anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr is headquartered. (more)

Anyone with any sources on the 'laptop', let me know.

Also questioning the importance of the computer:

Let them Fight

It appears that the Islamists have slowed down attacks on Americans and have focused their energies on each other. Civil War or not, it is better they kill themselves than us. The Sunni's see the Shiites as apostates and vice versa. This places them in the same boat with us in regards to who is considered the infidel. If they have decided to clean the Islamic house first then more power to them. While they are doing this we should be preparing for the aftermath.
Not only is there a possible Civil War ready to erupt in Iraq there is one going on in Palestine. Fatah versus Hamas. Israel should secure their border and let them go at each other. Egypt has recommended that the Palestinians should form one army. Diplomatically this may come across as a good sound bite but it is nothing more than that. In all this carnage someone is making money and gaining control and influence. Do you want to guess who?
Iran appears to be the supporting from the dim shadows. They have the most to gain from internal squabbling. They can finance both sides of each conflict and come out smelling like a desert rose. More than likely they aren't supporting the Sunnis but who really knows? Iran will hedge it's bets until they see a real winner and then put all of their support behind them. They are willing to do whatever they deem necessary to add support to their power pyramid.
Iran has it's hands in every conflict taking place that involves Islamists. Whether it be Islam against secular or Islam against Islam doesn't matter. With Syria as a lackey they can play the diplomatic game while funding battles and wars around the world. Iran is playing the west and the Islamists against themselves. All of this with the support of Russia and China. While the west squabbles internally the Islamists kill themselves.
Truth be told, I have no problem with Islamists killing themselves. I do have a problem with westerners that still think that a "sit down and talk" session would solve their problems. This is a fallacy that has proven itself to be a failure. The ironic part of the Islamist on Islamist violence is the silence in the media. If an American kills an Islamist there are investigations and such. If they kill each other it's a minor paragraph in the newspaper. An America bomb is used and a child dies the world is up in arms. If the Islamists kill children, nary a peep. But I digress.
Let them kill each other. They are proving themselves to be the barbarians that others have claimed they aren't. The descendants of Ishmael would be wild men and raise their hands against one another and others. No matter how we try to deny it, it appears to be playing out right in front of us.

Muslim Medicine - An Oxymoron

Photo uploaded by E.S.B.

times online - Muslim urged to shun 'unholy' vaccines, Excerpt:
A MUSLIM doctors’ leader has provoked an outcry by urging British Muslims not to vaccinate their children against diseases such as measles, mumps and rubella because it is “un-Islamic”.

Dr Abdul Majid Katme, head of the Islamic Medical Association, is telling Muslims that almost all vaccines contain products derived from animal and human tissue, which make them “haram”, or unlawful for Muslims to take.
[snip]
In Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and parts of India, Muslims have refused to be immunised against polio after being told that the vaccines contain products that the West has deliberately added to make the recipients infertile.
[snip]
He argued that leading “Islamically healthy lives” would be enough to ward off illnesses and diseases.

“You see, God created us perfect and with a very strong defence system."

In my previous post, Muslim Cabbies and Catholic Hospitals, I argued that for reasons of religious conscience certain groups of people should not go into work that conflicts with their religious teachings. For example, if you are deeply Catholic, you should not be a pharmacist where you will be required to dispense abortifacients. After all, you are not a doctor and it is not up to you to decide whether the drug is for a life-threatening ailment. Catholics ministries should not be in the hospital business for the same reason.

Bomber kills 3 Israelis at Red Sea resort bakery

Truce keeping as usual:

EILAT, Israel–Israeli aircraft bombed a tunnel near the Gaza-Israel border early today in response to the first suicide attack inside the country in nine months, the military said.

The air strike came a day after a Palestinian bomber killed three Israelis at a bakery in the Red Sea resort town of Eilat. The two radical groups that claimed to have sent the suicide bomber said they were trying to end weeks of Palestinian infighting by taking aim at Israel instead.

Israel has observed a truce with the Palestinians in Gaza since late November. But today's air strike signalled the Eilat bombing had put that ceasefire in danger.

The Israeli army said militants planned to use the tunnel near Gaza's Karni crossing for an attack on Israel. No casualties were reported in the air strike.

Yesterday's bombing in Eilat was praised by the Palestinians' governing Hamas movement as legitimate resistance – a position sure to hurt efforts to end a crippling economic boycott imposed by the international community.

Bombs and Bagels. This is why you never legitimize a terrorist organization by giving it political power.

PDP sending signals to terrorists to join electoral battle

Terrorists and politics:

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jammu and Kashmir is sending strong signals to terrorists to join politics and has supplemented this offer with a firm indication that the party would concede political space to them in the electoral battles.

The party leadership has made it clear that it wanted to change the discourse of Kashmir politics for terrorists by offering a stake to them in the politics of ballots, and declared that the infamous 1987 elections would not be repeated.

If you think about it terrorists have been in volved in politics for a while now. Look at how they influenced November's election. Why not give them a stake. Maybe they will blow less things up.

Pelosi's Solution for Iraq--Make Love, Not Jihad!

From the SOP:

(Baghdad)--The following press release was just issued by the Office of Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House:

While meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in Baghdad this weekend, Speaker Nancy Pelosi presented her program for ending the violence and for making Iraq a respectable, civil nation in the world community.

Speaker Pelsoi titled her program "Make Love, Not Jihad." The Pelosi program is patterned after the City Charter in San Francisco and includes the following recommendations:

Gun Control

Iraq's violence is a direct result of easy access to all sorts of killing tools. The government must outlaw all weapons of mass destruction, IEDs, handguns, shotguns, rifles, machine guns and all other firearms. No exceptions.

Declare Iraq a "Terror-Free" Zone

San Francisco pioneered the "Nuclear-free" zoning concept several years ago to alert the world that The City is completely free from nuclear weapons and should not be attacked. That policy has worked beautifully, because there have been no nuclear incidents since the declaration was codified into San Francisco's City Charter.

Using the same logic, Iraq should declare itself a "terror free" zone, then just relax, and wait for the insurgents and coalition forces to leave. Read More...

This little bit of satire by John Lillipop prove the point that to satirize somthing there must be something of the truth in it. Be afraid...Be very afraid.

Coming to a Mosque Near You

Our reader Kurt K. sends us:

This is amazing footage of the hate and jihadism preached in London area mosques. Secretly captured by an undercover reporter.

http://www.shinesforall.com/2007/01/video_dispatche.html

Excerpt: Secret video footage reveals Muslim preachers exhorting followers to prepare for jihad, to hit girls for not wearing the hijab, and to create a 'state within a state'. Many of the preachers are linked to the Wahhabi strain of Islam practised in Saudi Arabia, which funds a number of Britain's leading Islamic institutions.

Old Marines Never Die

This was sent in by Texas Fred.

Stolen From: American and Proud

Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, Cokie Roberts, and a tough old U.S. Marine Sergeant were all captured by terrorists in Iraq. The leader of the terrorists told them that he would grant them each one last request before they were beheaded.

Dan Rather said, "Well, I'm a Texan; so I'd like one last bowlful of hot spicy chili." The leader nodded to an underling who left and returned with the chili. Rather ate it all and said, "Now I can die content."

Peter Jennings said, "I am Canadian, so I'd like to hear the song "O Canada" one last time." The leader nodded to a terrorist who had studied the Western world and knew the music. He returned with some rag-tag Musicians and played the anthem. Jennings sighed and declared he could now die peacefully.

Cokie Roberts said, "I'm a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape recorder and describe the scene here and what's about to happen. Maybe someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job till the end."

The leader directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder and Roberts dictated some comments. She then said, "Now I can die happy."

The leader turned and said, "And now, Mr. U.S. Marine, what is your final wish?"

"Kick me in the ass," said the Marine.

"What?" asked the leader? "Will you mock us in your last hour?"

"No, I'm not kidding. I want you to kick me in the ass," insisted the Marine. So the leader shoved him into the open, and kicked him in the ass.

The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9 mm pistol from inside his fatigues, and shot the leader dead. In the resulting confusion, he leaped to his knapsack, pulled out his M4 carbine and sprayed the Iraqis with gunfire.

In a flash, all the Iraqis were either dead or fleeing for their lives.

As the Marine was untying Rather, Jennings, and Roberts, they asked him, "Why didn't you just shoot them in the beginning? Why did you ask them to kick you in the ass first?"

"What??" replied the Marine, "And have you three a**holes report that I was the aggressor?"

Thanks Fred. There is a bit of truth to every joke. and this one nails it.

90% of Nazis were not Evil

Photo Originally uploaded by pytey.

I would love to be open-minded. I would love for the lamb to lie down with the lion, for there to be no wars and no hatred or bloodshed. Any sane person wishes for world peace. And if wishing made the world so, I would certainly be open-minded.

I know in my heart that not every single Nazi without exception was evil. It’s impossible. Some of them had to be ordinary, civilized family men who got caught up in the maelstrom and were unable to extricate themselves. Does anyone really believe that all Germans were born evil, vile creatures? That would be racist indeed. How are the Germans who now live peacefully with their European neighbors any different than the Nazis of the last century? They are the same peoples speaking the same language, listening to the same music and operas, and observing the same customs and traditions as Germans have for centuries.

So what turned them into the most evil monsters in history [excepting present day Muslims]? Three things:
1) A state religion of moral superiority over all non-Aryan races. [it is no accident that Persia changed its name to Iran (Aryan) in blessed appreciation of the Nazi ideal]
2) A Plan to Take over the World
3) An extreme minority that intimidated and threatened the majority.

Obviously, with minor change to #1, these same three principles apply to Islam.

Truly, most of these evil men, had they lived under a different system, would have lived ordinary and useful lives.

How the left led us into 9/11

The LA Times
The Clinton and Carter administrations made the U.S. look like a weak, attractive target for terrorists.

In considering a funding cutoff for U.S. troops in Iraq, the liberal leadership in Congress runs the risk of making the United States more vulnerable to future attacks, not just in the Middle East but here at home. To understand this, it's not enough to revisit the factors that led to the Iraq invasion. We must consider the roots of 9/11 itself. Only by understanding the policies that sowed the seeds of 9/11 can we intelligently decide how best to proceed in fighting the war on terror.

Pundits on the left say that 9/11 was the result of a "blowback" of resistance from the Islamic world against U.S. foreign policy. At first glance, this seems to make no sense. American colonialism in the Middle East? The U.S. has no history of colonialism there. Washington's support for unelected dictatorial regimes in the region? The Muslims can't be outraged about this, because there are no other kinds of regimes in the region. U.S. support for Israel and wars against the Muslims? Yes, but the U.S. has frequently fought on the side of the Muslims, as in Afghanistan in the 1980s or in the Persian Gulf War.

But in a sense the liberal pundits are right. The U.S. made two gigantic foreign policy blunders in recent decades that did sow the seeds of 9/11. What the liberals haven't recognized is that these blunders were the direct result of their policies and actions, and were carried out by Democratic presidents — Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

To understand this, we need a little perspective. Radical Islam became a global force in 1979, when it captured its first major state, Iran. Before that, radical organizations such as the Muslim Brotherhood were fighting losing battles to overthrow their local governments. This changed with the success of the Khomeini regime in Iran. The Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini was the first Muslim leader to describe the U.S. as the "Great Satan" and to counsel martyrdom and jihad against it. Iran continues to be a model for radical Muslims.

Khomeini's ascent to power was aided by Carter's policies. Carter came into office stressing his support for human rights. His advisors told him that he could not consistently support the shah of Iran, who had secret police and was widely accused of violating human rights. The administration began to withdraw its support and finally pulled the rug out from under the shah, forcing him to step down.

The result was Khomeini, whose regime was vastly more tyrannical than the shah's. The Khomeini revolution provided state sponsorship for Islamic radicalism and terrorism and paved the way for Osama bin Laden and 9/11.

Clinton's policies also helped to provoke 9/11. After the Cold War, leading Islamic radicals returned to their home countries. Bin Laden left Afghanistan and went back to Saudi Arabia; Ayman Zawahiri returned to Egypt. They focused on fighting their own rulers — what they termed the "near enemy" — in order to establish states under Islamic law. But in the mid- to late 1990s, these radicals shifted strategy. They decided to stop fighting the near enemy and to attack the "far enemy," the U.S.

The world's sole superpower would seem to be much more formidable than local Muslim rulers such as Hosni Mubarak in Egypt or the Saudi royal family. Bin Laden argued, however, that the far enemy was actually weaker and more vulnerable. He was confident that when kicked in their vital organs, Americans would pack up and run. Just like in Vietnam. Just like in Mogadishu.

Bin Laden saw his theory of American weakness vindicated during the Clinton era. In 1993, Islamic radicals bombed the World Trade Center. The Clinton administration did little. In 1996, Muslim terrorists attacked the Khobar Towers facility on a U.S. base in Saudi Arabia. No response. In 1998, Al Qaeda bombed two U.S. embassies in Africa. Clinton responded with a few perfunctory strikes in Sudan and Afghanistan. These did no real harm to Al Qaeda and only strengthened the perception of American ineptitude. In 2000, Islamic radicals bombed the U.S. destroyer Cole. Again, the Clinton team failed to act. By his own admission, Bin Laden concluded that his suspicion of American pusillanimity and weakness was correct. He became emboldened to plot the 9/11 attacks.

Still, the 2001 attacks might have been averted had the Clinton administration launched an effective strike against Bin Laden in the years leading up to them. Clinton has said he made every effort to get Bin Laden during his second term. Yet former CIA agent Michael Scheuer estimates that there were about 10 chances to capture or kill Bin Laden during this period and that the Clinton people failed to capitalize on any of them.

Between 1996 and mid-2000, Bin Laden was not in deep hiding. He gave sermons in Kandahar's largest mosque. He talked openly on his satellite phone. He also granted a number of media interviews: in 1996, with author Robert Fisk; in 1997, with Peter Arnett of CNN; in 1998, with John Miller of ABC News; in 1999, with a journalist affiliated with Time magazine. Isn't it strange that all these people could find Bin Laden but the Clinton administration couldn't?

Two lessons can be drawn from these sorry episodes. The first one, derived from Carter's actions, is: In getting rid of the bad regime, make sure that you don't get a worse one. This happened in Iran and could happen again, in Iraq, if leading Democrats in Congress have their way. The second lesson, derived from Clinton's inaction, is that the perception of weakness emboldens our enemies. If the Muslim insurgents and terrorists believe that the U.S. is divided and squeamish about winning the war on terror, they are likely to escalate their attacks on Americans abroad and at home. In that case, 9/11 will be only the beginning.

By Dinesh D'Souza, a fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, is the author, most recently, of "The Enemy at Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11."

Something Stinky in Karbala and the Green Zone

Originally posted at Right Truth

The attack in Karbala where 5 American soldiers were shot in the head made me wonder if the Iraqi police were involved or at least complicit. Now I wonder if this goes straight to top. One of the vehicles had a license plate registered to Iraq's minister of trade, Abdul Falah al-Sudani, a Shiite who belongs to the Dawa party whose members include Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. Al-Sudani lives in the Green Zone and denied that the plate had been stolen. (Macon.com)

The attack involved 9 to 12 English-speaking militants who posed as American security forces and traveled in vehicles that looked similar to U.S. government convoys. Ownership documents were found in two of the vehicles. No one seems to know where the military uniforms or IDs came from, but the SUV's traveled to Karbala along the road leading from Najaf, where anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr is headquartered.

Carrying American weapons, and wearing new U.S. military combat fatigues, the militants overtook the American forces and kidnapped the four soldiers. They then took them east of the compound and killed them. (source)

One guard, who is also is a suspect, said he'd handed his weapon to the attackers and allowed the men into the compound because they were dressed in American military uniforms, spoke English and were using interpreters.

Iraq the Model says (hat tip Degrees of Madness):

If I remember well, some time ago the head of the provincial council was arrested under charges of terrorism, so the local authority in Kerbala isn’t exactly trustworthy. The governor said there was a security breach but what I smell here is the stench of an inside job at the highest levels in Kerbala.

Like I said earlier, this was not just a brazen attack by some militia or terrorists; behind this is a message and a threat from Iran and its surrogates to turn even the calm parts of Iraq into a dangerous war zone for America and the government in Baghdad.

Now it all makes sense. Al-Sadr has been pretending to comply with American requests, asking his militia to put their guns out of site. It's all for show. Sadr is an agent of Iran.

Four of the soldiers have possible ties to Fort Richardson. U.S...

That release identified the dead as 1st Lt. Jacob N. Fritz, 25, of Verdon, Neb., Spc. Johnathan B. Chism, 22, of Gonzales, La., Pfc. Shawn P. Falter, 25, of Cortland, N.Y., and Pvt. Johnathon M. Millican, 20, of Trafford, Ala. All four were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based at Fort Richardson, Alaska.

Another news release identified a fifth man killed as Capt. Brian S. Freeman, 31, of Temecula, Calif. (source)

Capt. Freeman was a former member of the Army World Class Athlete Program who competed in bobsled and skeleton with the U.S. national team.

Bottom line, I don't trust Maliki or Sadr. Phew! Something stinks in Karbala!!!

'Ex-terrorists' event at U-M stirs outrage

From The Detroit News:

Controversy is brewing over a presentation scheduled for Tuesday night at the University of Michigan by three self-proclaimed "ex-terrorists."

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee has asked U-M to reconsider allowing "such hateful discussion" to take place at the university's Rackham Auditorium in Ann Arbor. Meantime, one of the former terrorists has received death threats warning him from speaking at the university, according to his representative.

U-M senior officials will meet with members of the ADC on Monday, said university spokeswoman Julie Peterson. However, the university didn't invite the group, she said.

The conservative student group Young Americans for Freedom is sponsoring the discussion called "Terrorism: The World's Greatest Threat."

But canceling such an event does not coincide with the school's mission, according to U-M officials. U-M's policy is to allow invited guests to express their views regardless of whether others disagree.

Andrew Boyd, co-chair of Young Americans for Freedom, said the three men were invited to spark dialogue on campus.

"There's a misconception about the event," Boyd said. "It's about showing the difference between Muslim extremists and the average everyday Muslim who is peaceful."

The men are Zachariah Anani, a Windsor resident, and Walid Shoebat and Kamal Saleem, who are both U.S. citizens. Anani was recently targeted by Islamist groups who have mounted a witch hunt against him, according to his spokesperson.

According to their Web site, Shoebat and Saleem are former members of the Palestine Liberation Organization. Shoebat participated in acts of terror against Israel and was later imprisoned in Jerusalem. Saleem completed his first mission to Israel at age 7.

Anani was a teenage militia fighter, where he was trained to kill Jews, according to www.3xterrorists.com. He says he killed 223 people. The ADC doubts the men's stories for "the simple fact that if they were ... 'ex-terrorists' they would all be in federal custody," according to a letter ADC sent to U-M.

The men are not swayed.

"In order to understand the negative effects of narcotics, reformed drug addicts are often called upon to talk about their experiences," Shoebat said in a statement.

"It is the same situation here. Three former terrorists are educating the world on the phenomenon of terrorism, so that people can understand."

This will be the third speaking event by the trio. The first was at Princeton University, where it had to be relocated off campus, and the other was in Philadelphia, said Keith Davies, director of the Walid Shoebat Foundation.

You think ADC could challenge CAIR's credentials while they are at it?

The Path to 9-11

Remember the movie The Path to 9/11? Remember that the democrats threatened ABC's broadcast license if they aired the movie? ABC finally edited the movie so that they could air it without the part that the Clinton administration didn't want in there.

Hannity is going to air the unedited version on Sunday night on Fox
.

Unseen footage from the controversial ABC docudrama The Path to 9/11 has been obtained by Fox News and will be shown Sunday on Hannity's America.

The scene shows Sandy Berger, played by actor Devin Dunn, refusing to authorize an attack on Osama bin Laden despite a request from CIA officials, who said he was in their sights.

Berger was a national security adviser to President Clinton. The footage, which was expunged before it aired last September, was shown by the docudrama's senior producer and writer/producer at a World Affairs Council event at California State University. The footage was shown as Fox cameras rolled.

It was interesting to me watching the news today. With the Sandy Berger/Clinton scandal swirling around - all the network news focused on was Carl Rove and counting the bodies of American Soldiers. That's why I hate the network news.

The progressive blogs are predictably having a hissy fit. A quick look around the blogsphere and I can tell you they are having a bona fide meltdown. Remember how mad Clinton got when the movie first aired? The reaction is enough to let you know there is something they don't want us to know.

Hot Air has the edited and unedited videos.

Suitably Flip wonders how Secretary Gonzales is coming with that polygraph.

After watching the videos at Hot Air Rounds Out wonders ....
I didn't watch this when originally aired. But I can see now why the MSM was up in arms to the point of frenzy over this.

Do we really want more Clinton foreign policy?

The Hillary Project notes that Bill Clinton is still trying to obstruct the truth from being revealed regarding his unwillingness to deal with Osama bin Laden.

So has all this cover-up been to just protect Bill Clinton, or has this also been to protect Hillary’s chance of becoming President? The latter now seems more evident.

Patterico:
I am confident about one thing though, the really important part of the Fox broadcast won’t be the film footage that they show - it will be the subsequent interview with writer Cyrus Nowrasteh and former CIA agent Michael Scheuer. They will no doubt be very effective in defending their respective work in light of recent revelations. That part will be informative and potentially important.

The Boston Imams

Miss Kelly says:
Lookey here:

http://misskelly.typepad.com/miss_kelly_/2007/01/mimam_masood_an.html

Finally, a US newspaper writes that three MA imams are related to Hafiz Saeed. Took them long enough!

We bloggers have known for over a month. Some of the interfaith rabbis were taken aback by the Hafiz Saeed connection, although that is not written in the article. Masood reportedly answered that question slowly and carefully.

I finally got around to critiquing the ISB op-ed published in the Globe earlier this week. Kind of rambling, but I think there's some good stuff in there.

Waiting For The Mahdi

From Brigette Gabriel:

Waiting for the Mahdi: Official Iranian Eschatology Outlined in Public Broadcasting Program in Iran

The website of the governmental Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) has posted a lengthy document titled "The World toward Illumination." The document is a transcript of an IRIB series on the imminent arrival of the Mahdi, the Twelfth or Hidden Imam, awaited by Shi'ites as the Messiah.(1)

The program describes in glowing terms the messianic age to be inaugurated by the Mahdi. He is to begin his uprising in Mecca, and then march on Iraq, where he will establish his "seat of world government" in the city of Kufa and subjugate the current world powers. This will be an age of unparalleled happiness; there will be completely new technologies at mankind's disposal, and "corruption, war, and rebellion will no longer exist." Neither will "liberal democratic civilization."

Various days of the year are mentioned as being propitious for the appearance of the Mahdi, though the program says that the precise date cannot be known.

The series also includes, in parts not reproduced here, a lengthy polemic against the West, focusing on Evangelical Christians, Zionism, Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, and Hollywood. It also gives a historical survey of Western thinking, from Saint Augustine to Francis Fukuyama.

The following are excerpts from the transcripts of the World Toward Illumination program from the IRIB website, in the original English:(2)

(1): "Miracles of the Messiah Will Soon Be Here"

"...Where is man moving to? What will happen in his future? What fate will today's nations and civilizations have in the future? Will they destroy one another? Will a power, nation or civilization prevail? And finally to what direction will the speed of technology and modernity take man?...

"In the current era new interpretations of happiness and prosperity for man have been brought up. In these interpretations there is talk about welfare and worldly tranquility. Some believe that science and material progress automatically bring about prosperity, and man can attain sublimity on earth... But the world's reality shows that man more than any other time is searching for prosperity and tranquility. The daily increasing production of destructive weapons, domineering tendencies, racist wars, genocide and instability of world markets, all threaten the world's security and tranquility. Now western rulers under the slogan of liberal democracy are tyrannically and oppressively looting the capital of oppressed nations. The weakness of the family foundation, crime, violence, narcotics, human trafficking, anxiety and depression have faced the world's future with serious danger...

"...We invite you to tune in to our next programs to see how the future will turn out to be. And we invite you to listen to an inspiring poem.

"Be joyous my heart, miracles of the Messiah will soon be here

"The scent of breaths of the One we know comes from near

"Grieve not of sorrow and melancholy, as assured I was... last night

"That a Savior will come, it's clear."

(3): "How Beautiful and Auspicious Will Be the Day when the World is Cleansed of Deceit"

"How beautiful and auspicious will be the day when the world is cleansed of deceit and mischief and the government of justice is established throughout the world. On that day the perfume of life will begin to circulate within humans and the aroma of narcissus, irises and chrysanthemums will fill their soul. Undoubtedly such a day is nigh.

"Seeking pure water so thirsty am I,

"Moonlight surely appeals to my eye

"Oh bright dawn I desire you as I sigh

"The luminous sun I seek or I die..."

(6): "We Must Get Ready to Search for the Liberal Democratic Civilization in History Museums"

"...The West due to a lack of spirituality and morality is not able to respond to man's needs. Lack of attention to man's sublime needs in these societies has created social and cultural crises. Thus this civilization like those of many other Western theoreticians is just an unreal theory. It seems that in the same way that the Father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini predicted the fall of communism we must get ready to search for the liberal democratic civilization in history museums."

(12): "Everything Will Be New and Fresh Like Spring"

"Undoubtedly, history will not end with the memory of man's failures; man's ultimate fate is not weakness and inability; and the sun will undoubtedly not spare its vital rays from anyone. Many Iranian poets have spoken of the rise of the sun at dawn and consider man to be worthy of living in a bright and beautiful world full of the aroma of spirituality, where there is justice and equality...

"Contrary to the views of western theoreticians, who usually depict an ambiguous and dark future for mankind, Muslim experts believe human history, despite its many ups and downs, has a very auspicious fate, and with the appearance of the Imam of the Age, Hazrat Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance), finally the world matters will gain order. Muslims believe hopes for the realization of such a happy ending for the world, are called 'Awaiting Redemption', and means waiting for man's problems to be solved by the Savior at the end of time. This awaiting influences many, and inspires them with activity and enthusiasm in confronting darkness and oppression for changing the existing situation...

"When that Promised Person who is the direct descendent of the Prophet rises up, the sun of justice and freedom will shine on the hearts and he with his kind hands will extend friendship throughout the world. His face will be attractive and his look charismatic. He is humble before God's greatness. He is a manifestation of God's glory and beauty. Imam Mahdi is the perfect human being. His behavior is praiseworthy and his manners immaculate. He is the embodiment of justice. His torch of guidance is for all mankind...

"In short, when he reappears, peace, justice and security will overcome oppression and deceit and one global government, the most perfect ever, will be established. He will make the earth prosper in a way in which no ruins will remain. Man's maturity will reach its height, full equality will be established among the people, and no one will be arrogant toward the other and will not try to dominate others. Finally, corruption, war and rebellion will no longer exist and everything will be new and fresh like spring."

(13): "Pure and Sincere People Must Be Trained to Help the Savior in His Implementation of Global Justice"

"Sometimes incidents that occur in the world are like an insignificant but infectious pimple that suddenly explodes. Some theoreticians support this view and believe that nothing should stop this volcanic explosion and we should allow corruption to extend so much that the prevailing system would disintegrate. But the uprising of Imam Mahdi... is not like this. This uprising is like a fruit that must pass through stages till it is ready to be picked. Thus, if the Savior has not yet appeared it is not because the world is not full of oppression, but because the time must come for the people to be wise enough and ready to accept justice. Pure and sincere people must be trained in order to help the Savior in his implementation of global justice..."

Monday November 20, 2006: "The Seat of the Mahdi's Global Government Will Be the City of Kufa" in Iraq

"He will appear as a handsome young man, clad in neat clothes and exuding the fragrance of paradise. His face will glow with love and kindness for the human beings and because of this reason a famous hadith from the Prophet of Islam... has referred to him as Inn-al-Mahdi Tavous ahl al-Jannah, which means 'Indeed the Mahdi will be like a Peacock among the People of Paradise.' He has a radiant forehead, black piercing eyes and a broad chest. He very much resembles his ancestor Prophet Mohammad... Heavenly light and justice accompany him. He will overcome enemies and oppressors with the help of God, and as per the promise of the Almighty the Mahdi will eradicate all corruption and injustice from the face of the earth and establish the global government of peace, justice and equity.

"Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) will appear all of a sudden on the world scene with a voice from the skies announcing his reappearance at the holy Ka'ba in Mecca. The cloak and other special belongings of Prophet Mohammad... will be with him. He is the essence of all good and the mirror reflecting the characteristics of the 124,000 Prophets sent by God for the guidance of mankind since creation. He calls on all and says I am Baqiat-Allah or the Repository of God on earth. The Prophet had said: Mahdi will appear with a cloud moving above his head. From the sky it will be announced that the hands of the oppressors have been cut and the best of men from the progeny of Mohammad has taken over the leadership. Then the birds will lay abundant eggs and the fish will exceedingly reproduce, the rivers will flow in all their glory and the springs will gush forth from the earth, and the fruits will be multiplied."

"In our discussion of the world in the last days of the earth we had said in our previous editions of this program that no source has pointed to the exact date when the Savior will appear and only God knows about the exact timing of the reappearance of Imam Mahdi... The Prophet had said: He will certainly appear and if only a day were to be left to the end of the world God will make that day so long for Mahdi to appear and rise. There are various versions of the exact day of his reappearance. Some say it would be Friday and the date will be Ashura or the 10th of Moharram, the heart-rending martyrdom anniversary of his illustrious ancestor, Imam Husain... Others say the date will be the 25th of the month of Zil-Qa'dah and may coincide with the Spring Equinox or Nowrooz as the Iranians call [it]. A saying attributed to the Prophet's 6th infallible heir, Imam Ja'far Sadeq... says the Mahdi will appear on the Spring Equinox and God will make him defeat Dajjal the Impostor or the anti-Christ as the Christians say, who will be hanged near the dump of Kufa....

"Then he will be joined by 313 of the most devoted believers, equivalent to the number of those that had accompanied the Prophet at the Battle of Badr, the first armed encounter imposed by the infidels on the Muslims. Imam Mahdi and steadfast devotees will gather in Mecca; the people of Mecca will be surprised at the presence of so many faithful. These enlightened individuals will pledge allegiance to the Mahdi...

"After his appearance the Imam would remain in Mecca for some time, and then go to Medina. According to narrations, Sofyani, a descendant of the Prophet's archenemy Abu Sofyan, will seize Syria and attack Iraq and the Hejaz with the ferocity of a beast. The Sofyani will commit great crimes against humanity in Iraq, slaughtering people bearing the names of the infallible Imams, and his army will lay siege to the city of Kufa and to Holy Najaf. Of course, many incidents take place in this line and finally Imam Mahdi sends troops who kill the Sofyani in Beit ol-Moqaddas [i.e. Jerusalem], the Islamic holy city in Palestine that is currently under occupation of the Zionists. Soon a pious person from the progeny of Imam Hasan Mojtaba... meets with the Imam. He is a venerable God-fearing individual from Iran. Before the Imam's appearance he fights oppression and corruption and enters Iraq to lift the siege of Kufa and holy Najaf and to defeat the forces of Sofyani in Iraq. He then pledges allegiance to Imam Mahdi.

"Another beautiful moment of the Savior's appearance is the coming down of Prophet Jesus... from heaven. Hazrat Mahdi receives him courteously and asks him to lead the prayers. But Jesus says you are more qualified for this than me. We read in the book Tazkarat ol-Olia, 'the Mahdi will come with Jesus son of Mary accompanying him.' This indicates that these two great men... complement each other. Imam Mahdi will be the leader while Prophet Jesus will act as his lieutenant in the struggle against oppression and [for the] establishment of justice in the world. Jesus had himself given the tidings of the coming of God's last messenger and will see Mohammad's ideals materialize in the time of the Mahdi. The seat of the Mahdi's global government will be the city of Kufa, where his headquarters will be the Sahla Mosque, presently outside the city that was the home of Prophet Idrees or Enoch long before the great deluge of the times of Prophet Noah. From here he will dominate the east and the west to fill the earth with justice...

"God will enliven the earth through the Mahdi after the corruption and vice wrought by the oppressors and sinner[s]. Thus his appearance will take place when morality and humanity have reached a dead end. The people's yearning for justice in the midst of all the oppression allows him to carry out his mission. In our time, many pray for his appearance and each day they renew their allegiance to him. "O God, make me one of his companions, show me his respected and bright visage, and hasten his reappearance."

Monday November 27, 2006: "After His Uprising from Mecca, All of Arabia Will Submit to Him, and Then Other Parts of the World as He Marches on Iraq"

"When the sun of freedom and justice shines, the sounds of a rider coming from afar will be heard. The winds obey him, and in his presence the turbulent seas and fiery storms will reach the shore of calmness. The appearance of the Savior will make the fragrance of eternal justice embellish the soul of the earth. The Mahdi... himself will say, my existence is the cause of security and peace for the world people.

"There are various narrations on the global government of peace and justice of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance and cleanse the Planet of all vestiges of sin and corruption). Narrations on the global government of justice, the universal government, the government of the deprived, the government of welfare and security, and each of these indicates one aspect of the Savior's government. The justice-spreading universal government encompasses all these. Prophet Mohammad... has been quoted as saying: I give you the good tidings of the Mahdi. He will rise in my Ummah [i.e. the Muslim nation], while my Ummah is entangled in differences and deviations. He will fill the earth that is immersed in oppression, with justice. And all those in heaven and earth will be content with him...

"...One of the first measures of Imam Mahdi... is fighting all centers of domination and power-mongering. In this way, Global Arrogance [i.e. the West headed by America] and its minions puffed up by their economic and military might will try to create problems but they will not be able to change anything in their favor. The Mahdi considers his programs within the framework of conventional criteria, and says: Fear God and surrender to us and hand over the affairs to us. It is up to us to quench your thirst from the spring, as we are the one[s] who take you to its source.

"The Mahdi's far-sightedness and firmness in the face of mischievous elements will strike awe. After his uprising from Mecca, all of Arabia will... submit to him and then other parts of the world as he marches upon Iraq and established his seat of global government in the city of Kufa. Then the Imam will send 10 thousand of his forces to the east and west to uproot the oppressors. At this time God will facilitate things for him and lands will come under his control one after the other. The Prophet's 5th infallible successor, Imam Mohammad Baqer... says: It is as if I see the Mahdi who has taken control of the east and the west, and all obey him.

"Thus, as is clear, in the justice-seeking government the clouds give way to bright sunshine, as the Promised Savior spreads his radiance on the earth. God's infinite kindness will give refuge to mankind and the brightness of truth and justice will be seen in all dimensions of life."

Monday December 11, 2006: "The Idea of Placing Humanity Under One Religion... is a Gift Given by Islam to Humanity"

"... Regarding the Islamic goal of the perfect and ideal state, it should be noted that the world desired by Islam is not a far-fetched idea like the utopia of the West in which the realities of today's society have no effect. Since the natural growth of man is toward sublimity, dedicated Muslims in each and every era strive to materialize the characteristics of the promised society to the best of their ability... The Father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace) used to emphasize this and would say: We, of course, cannot fill the world with justice now. If we could we certainly would. But since we cannot, he, the Savior must come. The world is full of oppression and if we can prevent oppression we will have carried out our part of the duty..."

"With the reappearance of Imam Mahdi... conflicts, differences and discriminations that stem from lack of faith and atheism in the society will be eliminated. The shortcomings of religions and schools of thought will be clarified and Islam will prevail as the perfect pinnacle of faith. In other words, methods will become one and oneness will appear in people's beliefs. The Mahdi will materialize the call of the holy Qur'an, which throughout its text has urged mankind to unite and worship the One and the Only God without associating partners to him. The writer of the book Imamate and Mahdaviyat, says: the idea of placing humanity under one religion irrespective of their color, gender, language, class and ethnicity is a gift given by Islam to humanity..."

Monday December 25, 2006: "The Unjust System of Distribution and Denial of the Rights of Nations Will End with the Reappearance of Imam Mahdi"

"... In the weird system of today's powerful count[r]ies, moral and spiritual values have no place and are seen as undesirable liabilities that prevent these powers from reaching economic welfare and what they call true prosperity. However, the exploitation of the weak, the unjust system of distribution and denial of the rights of nations, will end with the reappearance of Imam Mahdi...

"One of the characteristics of the global government of the Mahdi is the astounding growth of science and technology. There will be an explosion of science. As we said last week, knowledge is made of 27 letters and up to now whatever man has discovered is within the confines of only 2 letters. But when the Mahdi appears the other 25 letters of knowledge will be at the service of mankind, which is something not imaginable with the limited knowledge that we have today despite the seemingly great progress in science and technology. The Mahdi will correct man's scientific mistakes and bring up new and astonishing methods that had never occurred to man before... The Mahdi will also regain the wealth and properties that have unrightfully been usurped by invaders and oppressors and distribute divine blessings among the people. Imam Baqer... says he will divide them with such equality that there will no longer be any poor person. In Islam's logic justice and good relations among people will lead to the flow of abundant divine blessings from the sky. Since people will have the best of qualities vital rains will pour down and all the earth will be filled with greenness and freshness. The Prophet had said in this regard: in my Ummah, the Mahdi will rise and people will gain such welfare as never seen before. The sky will repeatedly rain and the earth will hide none of the things it can grow."

A dangerous eschatology given the violent hands that handle it.

Bombing at hotel in Pakistan kills 2

This just in...

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - A man set off a bomb outside the Marriott Hotel in Pakistan‘s capital on Friday, killing himself and a guard and wounding at least seven other people in an apparent suicide attack, officials said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

Police said another hotel guard was in critical condition.

Sherpao said the explosion was the work of "anti-state elements who want to create unrest," but declined to elaborate.

An intelligence official said at least seven people were wounded. He requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to media.

The hotel, often frequented by Islamabad‘s foreign community, was targeted in an October 2004 bombing that wounded several people. There were no reports of foreigners hurt in Friday‘s blast.

Security was already high in Islamabad and the rest of Pakistan amid fears of sectarian violence between Shiite and Sunni Muslims during Ashoura, a Shiite religious festival starting Monday.

Another Muslim holiday, another bombing. Like peas in a pod.

Iran receives Russian air defence missiles

From Russia with Love:

DUBAI: Iran has received sophisticated Russian air defence missiles to protect its key nuclear facilities.

Officials disclosed the import of Tor-M1 missile during Iran's three-day military exercises.

These weapons are likely to deployed to safeguard Iranian nuclear facilities at Isfahan, Bushehr, Tehran and eastern Iran, Russia's ITAR-Tass news agency reported.

"We have had constructive defence transactions with Russia and we purchased Tor-M1 missiles that were recently delivered to us," Iran's Defence Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar was quoted as saying. Mr. Najjar, however, did not disclose the quantity of the missiles that had been received.

In New York, spokesman for the U.S. mission to the United Nations, Richard Grenell, called the development ``troublesome, given that Iran is the leading state sponsor of terror in the world.''

Also from Dubai:

At a speech in Dubai on 23 January, United States Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns told a group of academics, diplomats and journalists that a second US aircraft carrier strike group headed toward the Persian Gulf "is Washington's way of warning Iran to back down in its attempts to dominate the region."

The USS John C Stennis, along with several accompanying ships, is expected to arrive by late February in the Gulf, where it will join the USS Dwight D Eisenhower aircraft carrier group. Its presence will mark the first time since the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 that there have been two American carrier battle groups in the region.

A showdown in Persia? Don't count on it. More American buildings will have to fall before this congress will feel in danger again.

Brownback won't support Dems Iraq resolution

November comes a knocking...

WASHINGTON - Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback said Thursday he would not support a resolution drafted by Democrats opposing President Bush's Iraq plan, but he could back a rival proposal that contains less partisan language.

Brownback, among the first Republican lawmakers to publicly break with the president over a troop increase in Iraq, said the resolution approved this week by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee is too divisive.

"I think what we ought to be discussing now as these resolutions move forward is what we should support, not what we're opposed to, and what we can pull together on, not what we're divided on," Brownback said during a conference call with reporters.

The Senate panel on Wednesday passed a resolution that rejects Bush's plans to send 21,500 more troops to Iraq as "not in the national interest." The vote on the nonbinding measure was largely along party lines, though Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., joined Democrats in offering his support.

Oil and the War Against Islamic Aggression

The major oil fields all over the world are drying up. These are The Cantarell field of Mexico, the Burgan field of Kuwait, the Daqing field of China, and the granddaddy of them all, the Ghawar field of Saudi Arabia.ncy. Virtually all of them that can are pumping in sea water to displace the oil upwards and force it out of a zillion underground pockets and into the main pool.

The Mexican Cantarell field will stop producing in 2 years and the Mexican economy will crash. It's faltering now. So when it crashes, millions more job seekers will flood into the USA unless we do something damn quick to plug up our border. That's the least of our problems. Our own oil production peaked in 1970 and has been steadily declining since. This isn't just our problem, it's worldwide. The Saudi Ghawar field, biggest of them all, is pumping a minimum of 35% "water cut" which means that at least 35% of what's coming up is seawater that has been pumped in. The figure may be much higher. I reported on the Saudi field a few months back while the Saudis were still denying it.

The price of oil right now is down, almost entirely because of speculation rather than actual market forces. Third world countries can't afford to buy oil at the new higher rates and so their economies are sinking even lower as a result of higher prices. They're dropping out of the competition for oil.

China's oil fields are dying. Quwaits are dying. South America oil fields are dying. Prudhoe Bay in Alaska is dying. What does all this mean? A great deal.

The depletion of the worlds largest oil fields, which are also the worlds oldest, has an obviously grim side. But it also has a bright side. Islam could have never raised its ugly head again the way it has without oil money, which has both funded the migration of muslim arabs to the West, built mosques in the West and financed the terrorism-promoting imams and the terrorist acts themselves.

The Islamic oil producing countries know full well that their time is short and that their wells are beginning to run dry. Without the money to finance terror and war against the West, the muslim aggression will slowly subside and their dreams of world conquest will die forever. This is why they're striking now. They have years ahead of them before the money starts running out and this is their last chance to turn all Earth into the living hell they enjoy for themselves at home, under sharia law.

This is why it's so important to fight back, put up walls, continue tirelessly to repel the enemy. We can't give in or give ground. The Islamics are constantly pushing, setting up one false "religion of peace" organization after another, such as CAIR, to attack our legal system. They're in bed now with the ACLU, which was established by a communist with the goal of subverting America. That may sound like ranting but it unfortunately happens to be true.

Europe is under heavy attack by the Islamists and many parts of Europe are on the verge of becoming Islamic nations. Only a relative few are now fighting back and Europe may well be lost unless the people themselves take up arms in spite of their feeble governments. I don't hold out much hope for that.

The North American continent, Australia, China, Russia, Japan and Israel should be able to fend off the effort at global conversion, but the real hope lies in the fact that the various arab muslim sects treat each other so viciously and brutally. The more time they spend attacking each other, the less time they have to attack us "kaffir". We don't have to practice Divide and Conquer with them, they do it all by themselves.

The "Islamic jihad" being carried out against the West is also being carried out against other muslims, and it's being done not by a single united front but by a rather large variety of separate interests. The only common goal among them is to force Islam onto people, but they all want to be the dominant sect of Islam and there are many. Thus they all end up fighting with each other for supremacy.

We should be promoting this for our own safety and in a way we are. The hornets nest stirred up by the Iraq invasion will really erupt once we leave and the slaughter will be extreme. I have little doubt that the Saudi Sunnis will take full advantage and attack Iran when Shiite Iran sides with the Iraqi Shiites to kill off all the Iraqi Sunnis and other faiths. The Middle East will erupt, and all the better for us. Oil prices will go way up but they're going to anyway and we might as well get used to the idea now. Get ready for rationing.

Massod the Fraudulent Imam

From Miss Kelly:

There was an article in today's Patriot Ledger about the federal frand jury. It has to do with Imam Muhammed Masood, who was one of the imams arrested last November in the religious visa fraud "sting." Although the Islamic Center of New England originally staunchly supported Masood, they are telling him and his family to leave the 52-acre Sharon estate. The attorney for the ICNE confirmed that members of the ICNE were called before a federal grand jury this month on the matter of alleged immigration violations. They said it, not me!

Oil and Islam don't mix

Barbary pirateFor the past few hundred years, Muslims have been minor annoyances, usually as pirates on the Barbary Coast or as slave-dealers in Africa. But the last 50 years have given Arab countries so much money that the only way they know how to spend it is to spread Islamic terror. Without oil money these sand fleas would have remained poor and ignorant dregs of humanity of little consequence and with no valuable contribution to modern civilization. Now that Arabia has our oil money they have turned into rich and ignorant dregs of humanity of violent consequence and still with no valuable contribution to modern civilization.

But wouldn't the same thing happen with extreme, religious Jews if they got tons of money? Absolutely not. Although religious Jews also start schools or Yeshivas, the students are never taught that the gentiles should be converted to Judaism or that the entire world should become Judaic. If anything, Judaism does not want people to become Jews. "Leave us alone" is the operative phrase. You will never see a Jew asking a Christian if he has accepted Moses as his personal saviour or see a Jew forcing a Muslim to convert under threat of force. So if Israel were to have all the oil instead of Muslims, the world would not only be safer but the money would be used for the betterment of mankind. One only has to see that the tiny State of Israel with a pinky-nail of the world's population and a sliver of the moneys that Arabs get from oil, has contributed more technological advances and garnered more patents, inventions, discoveries and scientific advances than the entire Muslim world COMBINED. That is so absurdedly true I have to say it twice: The entire Muslim world combined.

35,000 Iraq civilians died in 2006, UN says

A real "who-dun-it"?
The UN today said almost 35,000 civilians were killed in Iraq last year - a sharp increase on the numbers previously reported by the Iraqi government.
Gianni Magazzeni, the chief of the UN assistance mission for Iraq, said 34,452 civilians were killed and 36,685 wounded last year.

Iraqi government figures, issued in early January, put last year's civilian death toll at 12,357.

When asked about the difference, Mr Magazzeni said the UN figures had been compiled from information obtained through the Iraqi health ministry, hospitals across the country and the Medico-Legal Institute in the capital, Baghdad.

"Without significant progress in the rule of law, sectarian violence will continue indefinitely and eventually spiral out of control," he warned.

Mr Magazzeni said 6,376 civilians were killed in violence in November and December. Of those, 4,731 died in Baghdad, most from gunshot wounds. He said the figure was a slight decrease from the previous two month period.

The mission's latest bimonthly report also said casualty figures from some areas had not yet been included in the December total.

How many of these were insurgents? Or their victims? Watch as the MSM spins these figures to look like the coalitiion killed all of these. Remember they are killing each other by the busload. Read Magazzeni's warning: it is sectarian violence and the lack of the rule of law. The lazy Iraqis need to step up.

Two former Saddam comrades executed

Saddam had a brother and his head *popped* off:

Two of Saddam Hussein's former comrades were executed in Baghdad Monday, including his half-brother Barzan al-Tikriti, the government said.

Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh told a news conference in Baghdad that Tikriti, who headed the intelligence service under Saddam, and the former head of the Revolutionary Court Awad al-Bandar, were hanged at dawn "according to legal conditions."

He added, however, that in "a rare case," Tikriti's head was dismembered at the time of the hanging, which forensic experts said could happen if the execution was carried out in an inappropriate manner.

Director of Jordan's National Forensic Center, Momen al-Hadidi, told United Press International the hanging seemed to have been "inferior" and lacked "international standards provided in the rope" in terms of its quality and length.

International standards in a hanging rope? That seems oddly humane considering the butchers we are talking about. PC and the press prevail once more.

Where are all moderate Muslims?

I found this article entitled "Where are all moderate Muslims?" by JILL CARROLL. I believe that Jill is very blind to what is going on and the roots of Islamic teaching. While I agree that there is moderate Muslims. I do not agree with Mrs Carrolls thesis. Here is a break down of the article and my response:

The question is problematic because of what it assumes: that Islam is naturally predisposed to extremist interpretation; that most of the up to 10 million Muslims in the United States are not moderate, but radical; that those who claim to be moderate aren't because they don't stand up and denounce the extremists. None of these assumptions is supported by evidence. In fact, evidence exists to the contrary.

I tend to disagree there is much evidence to support the idea that many Muslim organizations that are supposed to be "moderate" are not. For instance CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) has had many people that while working for them have been brought up on Terror charges. They have had people that openly support Hamas. Sure they have condemned specific "acts" of terrorism but they will not label groups like Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations. Thats a bit of a problem considering the fact they are the groups that are committing terrorist acts not to mention they are the enemy of our country. So why will CAIR not denounce these terrorist organizations by name? CAIR is very problematic and I have barely scrapped the surface. This is not a Liberal or Conservative issue. This was showed by Barbra Boxer recently when she took back an award she had given to a member of CAIR. Also you should take a look at this video. You will notice that the member of CAIR will not denounce Hamas and Bezbollah. Also take a look at the rest of my post about CAIR here.
If CAIR and other Muslim organizations wanted to be truly moderate. If they really wanted to defeat terror why is it when a group like the Free Muslim Coalition has an anti-terror rally in DC that CAIR and many organizations don't support it? Ibrahim Hooper the spokesman from CAIR had this to say about this organization: "groups such as the Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism and the American Islamic Congress do not represent mainstream American Islam."
"They're free to reflect their viewpoint," he said. "We have our views, and we believe our views reflect the mainstream of the American Islamic community." SOURCE

I'd like to know what view points of the Free Muslim Coalition he doesn't agree with? To me they seem to be taking a firm stance against terrorism isn't that supposed to be a good thing? On top of that it seems that there was around 50 people that showed up for this rally against Terrorism. Many of them seemed to be Christians and Jews. Read here. Why is it that many Muslims can show out in masses for anti-Israel protest and protest against Cartoons. Take a look here Yet when there is a protest against terrorism and terrorist groups hardly anyone shows?

We have not had so much as a backpack bomb in this country since 9/11, and it's not because our security measures are so foolproof. Our largely terror-free experience comes because we have a free, prosperous society governed by a stable rule of law that offers tremendous opportunities for life and happiness, including religious expression. Muslims, like so many other religious, ethnic and racial groups in America, are integrated into all areas of life in all parts of the country, all sorts of neighborhoods, in all sorts of professions. They go to work, pay their taxes, raise their kids and participate in faith communities like most other citizens and residents of this country. They peacefully co-exist with others in this demographically pluralistic nation, just like almost everyone else does. They are our neighbors, co-workers, clients, friends and in-laws.

Agreed there are Muslims that do want a peaceful existence with unbelievers. Thank God they choose to ignore or do not know the deep rooted jihad ideology in Islam. As for the reason we have not been attacked since 9/11 I believe many plots have been foiled. Many of these attacks were not on the scale of 9/11 but they were attacks by Islamist. Example there was a plot to blow up a mall in Chicago read here. Also there was also an Iranian that ran over students at North Carolina University. He did it in the name of Allah and to take revenge on America.Read here. Further I believe that many of the Islamist wait until they have built up enough people to attack. That is another reason we don't see attacks on our soil right now. This was showed by the prophet of Islam Muhammad and the Treaty of Hudaybiya. He made a treaty until he could build a big enough army to attack. You can read more about that here.

Yet, we act like they've come straight from the burning streets of Baghdad or the caves of Tora Bora with plans to blow us up. We see imams praying in the airport and have them taken off the plane. We see women wearing a hijab get on a bus or subway, and we feel ourselves tense up. Or, as happened recently when I attended a large interfaith dinner here in Houston and the well-known president of a respected Muslim organization got up to bless the food in Arabic, someone at a nearby table said, "We'd better hope he's not calling for jihad!"

First of all the situation at the airport is very watered down here. The Imams were not just praying. That is not why they were pulled off the plane. First of all they were hard making anti-American comments by some witnesses and they alligned their seating arrangement like the hijackers on 9/11. They also ask for seatbelt extensions they never used. All this and much more has been documented here. So it was not that they were just praying. Not to mention one of the Imams had some ties to organizations that were not to good. Read here. Many Muslims fly everyday and are not pulled of the plane. These men were acting suspicious that is why they were pulled off.

As for the mocking of the statement "We'd better hope he's not calling for jihad". I fully agree that and we should know what is going on in mosque and what is being taught. They have found that many Mosque here in America are teaching hatred and have books and material teaching extremist ideologies in many of the major mosques. You can find more information about this here.
It has been also be reported by a Sufi Muslim that 80 percent of Mosque in America are funded by extremist. More on that here.

I believe that most people would agree what I have just outlined is very troublesome. So why cant justifiable questions be asked of Muslims about what they believe concerning the issues I have shown? I am not making the Extremist believe what they do. I am simply pointing out what they believe and the cold reality that we do not want to face.
