Jihadist video shows boy beheading man

Hot off the presses: Sick, twisted, and disgusting!

So whats new?

KILI FAQIRAN, Pakistan - The boy with the knife looks barely 12. In a high-pitched voice, he denounces the bound, blindfolded man before him as an American spy. Then he hacks off the captive's head to cries of "God is great!" and hoists it in triumph by the hair.

A video circulating in Pakistan records the grisly death of Ghulam Nabi, a Pakistani militant accused of betraying a top Taliban official who was killed in a December airstrike in
Afghanistan.

An Associated Press reporter confirmed Nabi's identity by visiting his family in Kili Faqiran, their remote village in southwestern Pakistan.

The video, which was obtained by AP Television News in the border city of Peshawar on Tuesday, appears authentic and is unprecedented in jihadist propaganda because of the youth of the executioner.

Captions mention Mullah Dadullah, the Taliban's current top commander in southern Afghanistan, although he does not appear in the video. The soundtrack features songs praising Taliban supreme leader Mullah Omar and "Sheikh Osama" — an apparent reference to
Osama bin Laden, who is suspected of hiding along the Afghan-Pakistan border.

The footage shows Nabi making what is described as a confession, being blindfolded with a checkered scarf.

"He is an American spy. Those who do this kind of thing will get this kind of fate," says his baby-faced executioner, who is not identified.

A continuous 2 1/2-minute shot then shows the victim lying on his side on a patch of rubble-strewn ground. A man holds Nabi by his beard while the boy, wearing a camouflage military jacket and oversized white sneakers, cuts into the throat. Other men and boys call out "Allahu akbar!" — "God is great!" — as blood spurts from the wound.

The film, overlain with jihadi songs, then shows the boy hacking and slashing at the man's neck until the head is severed.

A Pashto-language voiceover in the video identifies Nabi and his home village of Kili Faqiran in Baluchistan province, which lies about two hours' drive from the Afghan border.

A reporter went to the village, and Nabi's distraught and angry father, Ghulam Sakhi, confirmed his son's identity from a still picture that AP made from the footage. He said neighbors had told him the video is available at the village bazaar, but he had no wish to see it.

Sakhi said his son had been a loyal Taliban member who fought in Afghanistan and sheltered the hard-line Afghan group's leaders in the family's mud-walled compound.

He blames the Taliban and wants to avenge his son's death.

"The Taliban are not mujahedeen. They are not fighting for the cause of Islam," the 70-year-old said. "If I got my hands on them I would kill them and even tear their flesh with my own teeth."

Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, who claims to speak for the Taliban, told AP he had no information about Nabi or the video. None of the group's commanders he contacted could confirm the execution, he said.

The method of Nabi's death was not unusual for Pakistan's lawless tribal regions. Suspected informers are regularly found beheaded and dumped along the side of the road in the lawless, mountainous regions along the Afghan-Pakistani border where al-Qaida and Taliban militants find sanctuary.

But such al-Qaida-style killings are rarely featured in the Taliban's increasingly frequent propaganda videos. The use of a child to conduct the beheading stands out even among those filmed by militants in
Iraq.

"This is outright barbarism," Iqbal Haider, secretary-general of the independent Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, said after viewing the video. "Whosoever has committed this, whether they are Taliban or anybody else or any Afghan or al-Qaida or anybody, they are enemy No. 1 of the Muslims."

The video accuses Nabi of responsibility for a U.S. airstrike that killed Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Osmani, who was regarded as one of the top three associates of Omar, the Taliban supreme leader. He was hit while traveling by car in Afghanistan's Helmand province Dec. 19.

Osmani was the highest-ranking Taliban leader to die since the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan that ousted the hard-line regime in late 2001 for refusing to hand over bin Laden following the Sept. 11 terror attack on the United States.

The U.S. military said at the time that Osmani's death was a serious blow to militant operations, and
NATO commanders said this week that a feared spring offensive had yet to materialize.

Sakhi, a retired mosque preacher with a long gray beard, spoke unashamedly of his son's Taliban affiliation and wept twice during an interview in his simple home at the foot of a mountain valley in Baluchistan province.

He said Nabi fought against the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance that helped U.S. forces to victory in Afghanistan.

After returning to Pakistan, Nabi ran a religious school in the Baluchistan capital of Quetta and had regularly sheltered both Osmani and Dadullah at the family compound, the father said.

He said Nabi also bought weapons for Taliban fighters and organized medical treatment for those injured during fighting in Afghanistan.

Some days after Osmani's death, Nabi went to Peshawar and then to Wana, a tribal town considered a militant stronghold, to collect money from Taliban officials to buy guns and food for militants in Afghanistan, Sakhi said.

He said his son called at the end of January to reveal that a tribal council had sentenced him to death on charges of tipping off U.S. forces about Osmani's movements, despite his denials.

His son passed the phone to Dadullah, but the militant leader ignored his pleas for clemency, Sakhi said.

"I talked to him and said you visited us and my son was a close friend so why are you going to hang him? He just said, 'How are you?', and switched off the phone," Sakhi said.

"They are the enemies of Islam," he said of the Taliban. "They are behaving like savages."

Sam Zarifi, Asia research director for Human Rights Watch, said the use of a child to commit such an act constituted a war crime and was a "new low" in the conflict in Afghanistan.

He noted the Taliban had teenage combatants but they were not recruited on a large scale because of the availability of adult fighters. He said he had seen children in the background of some jihadist videos but none in which they were directly involved in violence.

"I don't know why they would do this," Zarifi said. "The Taliban have to some extent tried to play to the public in Afghanistan and have not engaged in the complete sowing of mayhem that we have seen in Iraq. But this kind of act is really egregious. It's off the charts."

I now have no complaint against American Youth!

Pakistan Clerics Denounce Suicide Bombings... Well Not Really

I came across this story yesterday out of Pakistan about Islamic clerics denouncing suicide bombings. Sounds good on the surface but a closer look shows something different. It boils down to that they denounce the use of Suicide bombings against innocent civilians but that it can be used as a military tactic. So in their eyes it is totally understandable for someone to blow themselves up as long as it is under an enemy tank or in the presents of enemy soldiers. How sick that really is. But then again the Islamic material art school teaches this very thing in Australia and maybe even here in the United States. Here are a few noteworthy lines from the story:

Former minister Dr Mehmood Ahmad Ghazi said: “A suicide attack is clearly murder and its legality is further called into question by the fact that they occur in a Muslim state which is not occupied by infidels.”

In other words it would be ok if infidel were in the land.

Ahmed said that no final decree could be given on the issue, since a suicidal defence strategy was employed by the Pakistan Army at Chawinda to repel an Indian attack during the 1965 war, a strategy that was approved by the religious scholars of the time.

This is where they justify the use of suicide bombers as a military tactic. Sickening!

Determining the moral status of such suicide attacks is far too complex an issue to be sorted out by a mere ‘yes’ or ‘no’, he said: “After all, what can a Palestinian do when his parents and children have been killed, his house demolished and he has no means of earning a living any more?

First of all to insinuate that just because someone is poor they have to blow themselves up is absurd. This is something you are taught. Not to mention studies have found that most radical Muslims are very well educated and not poor.

Bombing at hotel in Pakistan kills 2

This just in...

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - A man set off a bomb outside the Marriott Hotel in Pakistan‘s capital on Friday, killing himself and a guard and wounding at least seven other people in an apparent suicide attack, officials said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

Police said another hotel guard was in critical condition.

Sherpao said the explosion was the work of "anti-state elements who want to create unrest," but declined to elaborate.

An intelligence official said at least seven people were wounded. He requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to media.

The hotel, often frequented by Islamabad‘s foreign community, was targeted in an October 2004 bombing that wounded several people. There were no reports of foreigners hurt in Friday‘s blast.

Security was already high in Islamabad and the rest of Pakistan amid fears of sectarian violence between Shiite and Sunni Muslims during Ashoura, a Shiite religious festival starting Monday.

Another Muslim holiday, another bombing. Like peas in a pod.

U.S. strike kills Afghan Taliban leader

I'm DEAD.

Gone Daddy Gone!

KABUL, Afghanistan - A top Taliban military commander described as a close associate of Osama bin Laden and Taliban leader Mullah Omar was killed in an airstrike this week close to the border with Pakistan, the U.S. military said Saturday. A Taliban spokesman denied the claim.

As usual...

Of Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Osmani, who was killed Tuesday by a U.S. airstrike, U.S. military spokesman Col. Tom Collins noted Osmani's death as a "big loss" for the ultraconservative militia.

"There's no doubt that it will have an immediate impact on their ability to conduct attacks," Collins said. "But the Taliban is fairly adaptive. They'll put somebody else in that position and we'll go after that person, too."

And that is how the work gets done.

Pakistan Is Washing Its Face

I don’t know if this is a move to placate the West and the US in particular, but whatever the reason, it’s a mighty good sign.

It’s about damn time at least one muslim country made an effort to appease the West instead of the other way around, after all the havoc they’ve wrought. Now if Iran and a few of the other violent abusers of women will get out of the Stone Age as well and start living in this century, it would make me positively euphoric.

“Pakistan’s government has promised a sweeping new agenda to promote women’s rights in the conservative Muslim country. The announcement comes as Pakistani religious groups protest against a new law that gives women additional protection from rape and sexual discrimination. VOA’s Benjamin Sand reports from the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf signed the controversial Women’s Protection Law last week, the latest and most significant achievement yet in his self-styled campaign to promote women’s rights in Pakistan. He told a women’s conference in Islamabad on Tuesday that the new law was the first of many steps his government wants to take to protect Pakistani women.
During his nationally televised speech, the president said many more reforms are needed. He says he wants to emancipate women through legislation and that Pakistan needs to eliminate unjust social practices that hinder women’s development.

The Women’s Protection Law amended the country’s long-standing Hudood Ordinances, which required alleged rape victims to produce four male witnesses to substantiate their claims. The new legislation effectively drops the requirement and shifts future rape cases out of Pakistan’s religious courts and into the country’s more moderate civil court system. It also removes the death penalty for women or men charged with having sex outside their marriages.

General Musharraf said his government is now considering new legislation that would eliminate forced marriages, adding that he also hoped to reform the country’s antiquated inheritance laws to protect women’s property rights.

Conservative (read hard-line Islamic) religious groups however remain bitterly opposed to the president’s agenda. Hard-line Islamic leaders say the Women’s Protection Law violates Muslim principles and will lead to a “free sex zone” inside Pakistan. Islamic political parties are calling for nationwide protests and a number of lawmakers have threatened to resign from Parliament.

The president urged women to stand by him however. He said people should vote against any opponents of the new laws during next year’s parliamentary elections.”

Blair: Moderate policies defeat terror

Allah Akbar, bloody bugger!
Blair: Let's change our strategy--and blame Israel too...

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — British Prime Minister Tony Blair acknowledged Sunday the West had changed strategy in the fight against terrorism, telling Pakistan's president that brokering a broad Mideast peace deal was now as crucial as using force to battle militants.

Pakistani leader Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who switched his country's support from the Taliban in Afghanistan to the U.S. following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, said "the knot of terrorism will be untied through first resolving the Palestinian dispute."

Musharraf also acknowledged that his government's efforts to cut off support for the Taliban in northwestern Pakistan had not achieved "100 percent success." Pakistan has come under increasing pressure to crack down on Taliban and al-Qaida militants operating along its border with Afghanistan, where Osama bin Laden believed to be hiding.

"The Taliban problem is an Afghan problem ... being supported by elements from this side," Musharraf said. "We need to put our house in order on our side."

"We begin to win when we start fighting properly and I think we are now fighting properly _ but we have got to do more," Blair said after the talks with Musharraf in the eastern city of Lahore. "Where there are people standing up for a different way forward, we have to back them."

Blair said bringing peace to Israel and the Palestinian territories would help. "This global extremism is an ideology that exploits grievances. So what we have to do is at the same time as we are taking on the ideology, we have to take away those elements of grievance," he said.

"This took a generation to grow and it will take a generation to defeat," he said after signing an agreement announced Saturday to double to $910 million package of aid to fund moderate Islamic schools and other projects in Pakistan.

Help me out here...I fail to see how the "Taliban" problem and the "Palestinian" problem are linked. How is blaming Israel and throwing money at the Pakistani Muslims going to change the twisted ideology which already exists worldwide? If anything at all, they have just pulled another taqiyya over the infidel's eyes again.

**Update** --removing the elements of grievence--"Maybe Israel should just GO AWAY..." says Mohammed of the Islamic Thinkers Society.

Would resolving Palestinian grievances resolve Global Terrorism? See the Yahoo Answers...

Pakistan Rape Law Angers Islamist

Maulana Fazlur Rahman

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Pakistan's lower house of Parliament passed amendments to the country's rape laws Wednesday, ditching the death penalty for extramarital sex and revising a clause on making victims produce four witnesses to prove rape cases.

Consensual sex outside marriage remains a crime punishable by five years in prison or a $165 fine, said a parliamentary official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

International and local calls for change intensified after the 2002 gang-rape of a woman, Mukhtar Mai, who was assaulted after a tribal council in her eastern Punjab village ordered the rape as punishment for her 13-year-old brother's alleged affair with a woman of a higher caste.

The amendments — which still must be approved by the Senate — enraged Islamic fundamentalists, but won cautious support from human rights activists, who wanted the controversial laws scrapped altogether.

"We reject it," Maulana Fazlur Rahman, a top Islamist opposition leader, told reporters after the vote, which he described as a "dark day" in Pakistan's parliamentary history.

Rahman and other Islamists vowed to devise a strategy to block Senate passage of the bill. Islamic political groups have previously staged mass rallies to denounce moves by the military-led government deemed contrary to Islam.

This story just shows that not all but that many muslims do not want to be secularized. They think the only correct way to live is to live under Islamic Law that is commanded in the Qur'an. They believe the laws of the country should be the laws of the Qu'ran and apply to all. You may ask what makes these Muslims believe that 4 witness are needed to prove rape? It is in the Quran.

Muhammads wife Aisha was suspected of adultrey and a revelation came from God to Muhammad and cleared Aisha of the charges. God ask the accusers, "Why did they not produce four witnesses? If they could not produce any witnesses, then they were surely lying in the sight of God" (Sura 24:13)

This is where they get the idea that there needs to be 4 witnesses.

Bottom line those that say that this law of having 4 witnesses to a rape is based on the Quran is correct! Muslims that say that this does not exist are in denial or are not aware of this. I have just showed you where it is in the Quran and the Quran is not to be questioned. Also the Quran states that the witness of one woman is only worth half of a man. It takes 2 womens testimony to equal one mans testimony. So therefore A womans word is not equal to a mans. Dont believe me? Just see Quran 2:282 "and call in to witness from among your men two witnesses; but if there are not two men, then one man and two women from among those whom you choose to be witnesses".

So the sad thing is in alot of Islamic countries it is very hard to prove rape. How many Rapes have 4 witnesses? So because of this many women in these countries that go and say they were raped and can not produce witnesses are accused of cheating on there husband! Which this is against Islamic law and punishable. This is even stated in the story above. "Consensual sex outside marriage remains a crime punishable by five years in prison or a $165 fine, said a parliamentary official" So if a woman can not prove the rape with witnesses then she is put in jail for adultery! how sad my prayers are with you women.

Pakistan Steps Away from Sharia Law

Don't Get Raped If You Are Muslim-click for video
Pakistan votes to roll back Islamic rape law...

The Islamic laws, known as the Hudood Ordinances, were introduced by a military ruler, President Zia-ul-Haq, in 1979. They made a rape victim liable to prosecution for adultery if she could not produce four male witnesses to the assault.

The main amendment approved on Wednesday takes rape out of the sphere of religious law and puts it under the penal code. That does away with the need for male witnesses and will allow convictions to be made on the basis of forensic and circumstantial evidence.

The amendment bill must be approved by the upper house of parliament before it becomes law.

Is there any reason to doubt it?
Click to read about this victim's blog.

If passed it will definitely be a step in the right direction. Earlier this month--the 4 witnesses were in the car, the 5th filmed it, and she STILL got 90 lashes.

Pakistan Destroys al-Qaida Site

Pakistan Army takes out an al-Qaida training center:

KHAR, Pakistan - Pakistani troops backed by missile-firing helicopters destroyed a purported al-Qaida-linked training facility in a northwestern tribal area near the Afghan border Monday, officials said. At least 20 people were killed.

The pre-dawn attack targeted a religious school, or madrassa, holding 70-80 militants in Chingai village near Khar, the main town in the Bajur tribal district, said army spokesman Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan.

The bodies of 20 tribesmen killed in the attack were lined in a field near the madrassa before an impromptu burial attended by thousands of locals, according to an Associated Press reporter at the scene.

Sultan said the attack targeted terrorists training at the al-Qaida-linked facility, but local leaders said those killed in the raid were innocent civilians.

Among the dead was Liaquat Hussain, a local Islamic cleric who ran the madrassa and is believed to have been sheltering al-Qaida militants, locals said. Several of his aides also died, they said.

The attack came two days after 5,000 pro-Taliban tribesmen held an anti-American rally in the Bajur area near Damadola, a village close to the site of an alleged U.S. missile attack that killed several al-Qaida members and civilians in January.

"We received confirmed intelligence reports that 70-80 militants were hiding in a madrassa used as a terrorist-training facility, which was destroyed by an army strike, led by helicopters," Sultan said.

Soldiers on the ground were counting the dead, Sultan said. He was unable to provide a preliminary estimate of the casualty count, but said that "many" militants had been killed.

Pakistan shows they are on the right side. However with all the tribal ties and the usual "religious sensitivities" I'm surprised this mission even went off. As for the "civilians' involved. Do the math! 20 dead, 20 tribesmen in a terrorist training facility. What we know is these people have no problem hiding among women and children. The probablility is that the 20 were tribesmen by day...terrorists by night.

**UPDATE**-HotAir.com is reporting that Al-Qaida top bananastan, Zawahiri was the target. Faqir Mohammed, an al-Zawahiri deputy was on the scene before or during the raid. I wonder if he was trying to pass as an innocent tribesman too.

A conversation with a Muslim in Pakistan

I recently had a chat with muslim from Pakistan. Here are a few segments of our conversation. I think this is very revealing especially since this guy is probably considered a "moderate" Muslim.

First I pointed out a Hadith to him and asked for his reaction:

(10:42:33 PM) ME: Narrated Abu Qilaba: Anas said, "Some people of 'Ukl or 'Uraina tribe came to Medina and its climate did not suit them. So the Prophet ordered them to go to the herd of (Milch) camels and to drink their milk and urine (as a medicine). So they went as directed and after they became healthy, they killed the shepherd of the Prophet and drove away all the camels. The news reached the Prophet early in the morning and he sent (men) in their pursuit and they were captured and brought at noon. He then ordered to cut their hands and feet (and it was done), and their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron, They were put in 'Al-Harra' and when they asked for water, no water was given to them." Abu Qilaba said, "Those people committed theft and murder, became infidels after embracing Islam and fought against Allah and His Apostle ."

(10:43:20 PM) ME: Bukhari book 4 hadith 234
(10:43:27 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: i am not sure is this is true hadis or not
(10:43:35 PM) ME: yes
(10:43:47 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: but urine is used as medicine now a days in many medicine
(10:45:12 PM) ME: camel urine? I did not know this
(10:45:22 PM) ME: I wasnt talking about that though
(10:45:31 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: yea it is used in medicine
(10:46:04 PM) ME: I was talking about what the prophet did to this man
(10:46:48 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: i am not sure that this is true or not i am hearing this first time
(10:46:58 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: but it is true that his hand should be cut off
(10:47:03 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: he was thief

This just shows that unlike Christians and Jews they take everything literally and that it is met for all time nothing is taken as historical. So he agrees this mans hand should be cut off and he also says camel urine is used in medicine???? I am unaware of this. I tried to research this but I find no evidence. Anyone in the medical field aware of this please let me know. Now on to the next part of the conversation. This time I ask him about the killing of someone that converts from Islam to another religion.

(10:47:43 PM) ME: Narrated 'Ikrima: Some Zanadiqa (atheists) were brought to 'Ali and he burnt them. The news of this event, reached Ibn 'Abbas who said, "If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah's Apostle forbade it, saying, 'Do not punish anybody with Allah's punishment (fire).' I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah's Apostle, 'Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.'"
(10:48:04 PM) ME: whoever converts from Islam to another religion kill them?
(10:48:13 PM) ME: maybe this is the way things should be?
(10:48:30 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: yea may be quated out of context
(10:48:42 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: we dont know fulll story
(10:49:23 PM) ME: http://www.searchtruth.com/book_display.php?book=84&translator=1&start=0&number=57
(10:49:28 PM) ME: theres the whole story
(10:49:34 PM) ME: its an islamic website
(10:49:44 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: oh ic
(10:49:59 PM) ME: go to the link and read
(10:50:57 PM) ME: as far as I can tell it is justified if someone converts from Islam to another religion for them to be killed
10:51:19 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: no
(10:52:09 PM) ME: why you say no?
(10:52:30 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: this is right
(10:53:04 PM) ME: what the hadith says is correct right?
(10:53:15 PM) ME: i dont know
(10:53:54 PM) ME: the Quran even says this
(10:54:05 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: yea i suport this
(10:54:19 PM) ME: if one converts to Islam and then turns his back we can be killed
(10:54:23 PM) ME: They desire that you should disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so that you might be (all) alike; therefore take not from among them friends until they fly (their homes) in Allah's way; but if they turn back, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper.
(10:54:28 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: yea
(10:54:31 PM) ME: Surah 4:89
(10:54:35 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: Thats very good
(10:54:40 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: i am happy to listen this.

This conversation tells alot. He seemed at first to be in denial that Islam would approve killing an apostate. Then he realized there was no denying the passages I had put forth. Either that or he wanted to try to act like a "moderate" to me and realized that he couldnt any longer. Whatever the case he believes that anyone who converts from Islam to another religion can rightfully be killed.

Al-Qaeda most wanted operative killed in Pakistan

Another one bites the dust.

ISLAMABAD: An Al-Qaeda operative wanted in connection with 1998 US Embassy bombings has been killed in Pakistan.

According to a private channel, Mohsin Mousa Motwali Attwa, most wanted by FBI was killed in April in North Waziristan during an airstrike by Pakistani forces near the border with Afghanistan.

Attwa, 42 Egyptian was indicted in connection with Al-Qaeeda suicide bombings of US Embassies in Nairobi, Kenya and Darus Salam Tanzania. The attacks killed 224 people including 12 Americans.

It has been officially confirmed in Islamabad that a leading Al-Qaeeda member was killed in an army operation in the frontier region of Pakistan.

On the other hand, CIA has also confirmed the killing of an Al-Qaeeda operative involved in the bombings at the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in an encounter with security forces of the country.

Meanwhile American CIA has said that after the formal DNA test it has been established that Attwa had died in an encounter with the Pakistani Security forces in North Waziristan early this year, after which the FBI has deleted his name and photo posted on its website of most wanted people.

7/7 Is Just The Beginning

We've been covering alot of things out of Britain this week. As mentioned in previous comments, they seem to be under "an all out social assault."

Intelligence chiefs in Britain are saying that Al-Qaida has successfully regrouped it's organization in Pakistan and the UK is it's new main target.

More worrying, officials say, is evidence of new techniques that would-be terrorists within the UK have adopted. The structure of individual al-Qaida-inspired groups is much more like the old Provisional IRA cells, with self-contained units comprising a lead organiser/planner, a quartermaster in charge of weapons and explosives acquisition and training, and several volunteers.

Officials describe these groups as "multi-tasking" - involved in fraud and fundraising and courier work as well as planning attacks. "There is a hierarchy within each cell with a very tightly run command and control," said one counter-terrorism source.

Many suspects appear to be aware they are under surveillance and have taken to having important conversations outside - in parks and other public spaces - similar to the tactics used by PIRA leaders during the Troubles.

Intelligence experts fear the UK is a target as never before, with extremists intent on carrying out a huge spectacular, on the scale of the US atrocities in 2001.

"They viewed 7/7 as just the beginning," said one senior source. "Al-Qaida sees the UK as a massive opportunity to cause loss of life and embarrassment to the authorities." A second source agreed: "Britain is sitting at the receiving end of an al-Qaida campaign."

Britain is an easier target, they have concluded, because of its traditional links with Pakistan which is visited by tens of thousands of people each year. Intelligence agencies have found it very difficult to penetrate the camps there.

The article goes on to talk about recruiting taking place in the UK and Pakistan. The best and most disturbing quote comes at the end:

They say there is a frightening number of young men willing to step up and replace those who have been arrested or gone to ground.

"It's like the old game of Space Invaders," said one senior counter-terrorism source. "When you clear one screen of potential attackers, another simply appears to take its place."

Heh! Space Invaders...No double meaning there...

CIA paid Pakistan millions for terrorists

Furious over being bullied by the US, Musharraf tells all in book. [I smell a NYT bestseller already!]

PRESIDENT Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan says that the CIA has secretly paid his government millions of dollars for handing over hundreds of al-Qaeda suspects to America.

The US government has strict rules banning such reward payments to foreign powers involved in the war on terror.

Musharraf does not say how much the CIA gave in return for the 369 al-Qaeda figures that he ordered should be passed to the US.

The US Department of Justice said: “We didn’t know about this. It should not happen. These bounty payments are for private individuals who help to trace terrorists on the FBI’s most wanted list, not foreign governments.”

The revelation comes from Musharraf’s memoir, In the Line of Fire, which began serialisation in The Times yesterday and will further embarrass the White House at a time when relations between the US and Pakistan are already strained.

At home, his political opponents say that the book is Musharraf’s blatant attempt to bolster his own reputation before elections in October 2007 as he has signalled his determination to have another five years in power.

They are also questioning what he intends to do with the reported six-figure sum he was paid by the publishers for his book. More revelations here...

His book also says he resents having an "Islamic Bomb"...

Touchy Touchy! I'm not convinced about whose side this guy is on. I DO KNOW he is CYA'ing with this book and by making deals with the Taliban. He seems a tad too shifty to me. I'll be keeping a close eye on this "ally".

Pakistani Clerics Want Pope Removed

LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) -- About 1,000 clerics and religious scholars at a meeting in eastern Pakistan demanded the removal of the pope for making "insulting remarks" against Islam, and warned the West of severe consequences if it didn't change its stance regarding Islam.

Pope Benedict XVI "should be removed from his position immediately for encouraging war and fanning hostility between various faiths" and "making insulting remarks" against Islam, said a joint statement issued by the clerics and scholars at the end of their one-day convention in the eastern city of Lahore.

The "Pope, and all Infidels, should know that no Muslim, under any circumstances, can tolerate an insult to the Prophet (Muhammad).... If the West does not change its stance regarding Islam, it will face severe consequences," it said.

And they call the Pope's remarks hypocritical?!

Are these clerics and scholars really that confused? I mean show me where this contradicts the position that Islam is a religion of violence, and I will eat both my and your hats!

BTW...the Pope will be removed when God removes him...I'm afraid no sooner.
Sorry to disappoint you, Allah.

Reporter: Don't underestimate al-Qaida nuke threat

"I would not underestimate these people," he said

Hamid Mir, a reporter who has covered al-Qaida and met with Osama bin Laden, told radio talk-show host Glenn Beck yesterday that he, too, had make the mistake of underestimating the terror network in the past.

He said he interviewed bin Laden prior to Sept. 11, 2001, and heard warnings about an attack on the U.S., but discounted them.

Mir took bin Laden more seriously after the bombings of the embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998, shortly after his first of three meetings with bin Laden – the last coming after 9/11. More here.

Pakistan Returns 2,500 Terrorists To Jihad

Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf

Appalling:
In what could be the most troubling development in the War on Terror since it began, Pakistan has released nearly all of the Taliban and al-Qaeda terrorists it has had in custody since the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001. Since the invasion, Pakistan has taken into custody thousands of al-Qaeda terrorists and Taliban fighters. But with Pakistan’s inability to defeat or control the Taliban-al-Qaeda alliance on the Pakistani side of the Afghanistan border, Mushrraf has ceded land, arms and now all terrorists held prisoner.

The Telegraph cites Pakistani lawyers who claim that the Pakistani government has “freed 2,500 foreigners who were originally held on suspicion of having links to al-Qaeda or the Taliban over the past four years.” This number includes virtually all al-Qaeda prisoners in Pakistan’s custody, including those held for the beheading of Wall Street Journal writer Daniel Pearl.

Visions of a future Gitmo? If our lawmakers keep playing "Let's Make A Deal" it is quite possible.

Seeking a way out of the bloody mess in the Waziristan provinces, Pakistan ceded North Waziristan to the Taliban-al-Qaeda alliance to add to South Waziristan. Talks are ongoing for the same treatment throughout the North West Frontier Province to achieve an expansion of the forming Taliban-al-Qaeda empire, creeping persistently closer to Islamabad. But Musharraf granted far more than just land."

Let there be no doubt about that!
