Fatwa For The New Salman Rushdie

Magdi AllamFrom an e-mail tip to Jihadi Du Jour: Meet the New Rushdie

The Union of Islamic Communities in Italy has urged all Muslims across the country to express their views following a new book which hails Israel and slams Palestinian resistance groups. According to a Saudi newspaper, the leaders of the Islamic community in Italy are furious about the new book which amazingly was edited by an Egyptian-born Italian writer and journalist!

Magdi Allam, 55, deputy chief editor of Italy’s most influential newspaper Il Corriere della Sera, is again at the center of the storm following his seventh book, dubbed “Viva Israele” (Long Live Israel). The subtitle of the book reads “From the ideology of death to the civilization of life: my story.”

“Long Live Israel” is the tale of his life ever since his youth under the republican regime of late Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser.

According to Allam, Nasser is responsible for having turned Egypt - and the rest of the Arab world - into the cradle of the "ideology of death". Allam claims Nasser brought about an aggressive pan-Arabic dream based on the denial of Israel’s right to exist. The need for the destruction of Israel is the dominant theme that, Allam states, made death and destruction the core values of a once liberal Islamic culture.

Thus, the new book defends the existence of Israel and terms armed Palestinian groups as "dangerous terrorist threats." In addition, Allam wrote that during their operations in the Palestinian territories, Israeli forces have been trying to avoid hitting Palestinian civilians and only aim to defend Israeli citizens….

Furthermore, Allam added that the main cause for the Israeli – Palestinian dispute stems form the Palestinian terror.

Allam says that "Israel - along with Pope Benedict XVI - represents the residual hope for Western civilization, which, more than other civilizations, embodies the sacredness of life and personal freedom."

Allam also slams the Arab calls for the killing of Jews. In the past, Allam also criticized resistance groups in Lebanon and Iraq.

Muslims in Italy have been claiming that Allam is an unreliable person who spreads suspicion and hatred against Islam and Muslim people by reporting undocumented, unverified or even utterly false news, just to flatter to the West.

It should be noted that during his adolescent years, Allam maintained completely different views. Allam was raised as a Muslim and attended the Italian school of Cairo. In Italy since 1972, Allam started his stay there as an enthusiastic activist for the Palestinian cause. At that period, Allam thought of Israel as a racist and aggressive state "invented by the Western world as some kind of compensation for the horrors of the Jewish Holocaust".

Years later, his interest in the history of Zionism and a meeting with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat brought him to realize that "Arafat was responsible for Palestinian terrorism" and that "the predication of the ideology of death eventually hit and harmed the Palestinians themselves."

The latest book has changed Allam's life. The Saudi newspaper reported that following threats to his life, the Italian police decided to intensify his security escort. Under these circumstances, it is not surprising that many Muslims in Italy denounce Allam as a new "Salman Rushdie", the British writer who was forced into hiding in the 1990s after Iran's religious leaders issued a fatwa (religious edict), calling for his death.

Once again, this needs to be understood and announced from the rooftops. The American Congress probably doesn't agree but I do:

"Israel - along with Pope Benedict XVI - represents the residual hope for Western civilization, which, more than other civilizations, embodies the sacredness of life and personal freedom."

God bless the West!

Picking apart the Democrats...

By Todd Anthony
http://rightisright.squarespace.com

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Bush administration tried in VAIN to operate an effective terrorist surveillance program with approval by BOTH Republicans and Democrats. This program was known as the Terrorist Surveillance Program (TSP).

With the Democrats and the Left STILL crying foul over the perceived illegality surrounding the NSA wiretapping program, I thought it would be wise to reference this particular WSJ article, just to dispel the myths that seem to somehow live on in the Leftist world.

Let’s break down the details in a fashion that even the Left, presumably, can understand.

In one of the most shockingly seditious acts in American history, the New York Times in 2005 published a report “describing the TSP. Although it was clear from the beginning that the program targeted al Qaeda--a particular communication was intercepted based on the presence of a suspected al Qaeda operative on at least one end--and not directed at ordinary Americans going about their daily routines, the administration's critics quickly wove the TSP into their favorite overarching anti-Bush narrative.”

Rather than allow the American government to wage a successful war on Islamic terrorism, the NYT exposed this top-secret program, effectively striking a blow the safety of American citizens, while simultaneously securing an important win for Islamic terror.

“Administration officials, including Attorney General Gonzales, repeatedly explained the TSP to Congress and the public, presumably to an extent consistent with continuing national security imperatives. In particular, they said that only communications where at least one party to the conversation was outside of the U.S. were intercepted; purely domestic calls were not in play.”

There’s the ultimate detail that the Left conveniently glosses over: that one party must be outside the United States. Instead, the Left committed a quasi-traitorous act and exposed this vital program, even though top Democrats were aware and, at least tacitly, approved of its existence and viability.

“The administration's most immediate concern since 9/11 has understandably been whether al Qaeda sleeper agents, already inside the U.S., would carry out additional catastrophic strikes. To counter this real and continuing threat, President Bush authorized the National Security Agency (NSA) to intercept a full range of al Qaeda communications, presumably on a global basis.”

Predictable Democrat ideology prohibits the Left from even admitting that 1.) a war against Islamic terror exists; 2.) if applying that twisted logic, it wouldn’t be necessary to even ponder the existence of al Qaeda sleeper cells here in our country.

“Rather than utilizing FISA's cumbersome and restrictive procedures, the administration relied on the president's inherent constitutional authority as commander in chief to monitor enemy communications in wartime, as presidents have done since Lincoln's day.”

Here’s where the crying from the Democrats gets fetid. Evidently, Congress believes that because it has power to declare, that it is they who truly command the troops. Furthermore, based on ineffectual leadership, as well as calls to retreat, are there any lingering doubts that this sham of an institution does not possess the wherewithal to protect American citizens?

“In addition, the administration correctly relied on Congress's Sept. 18, 2001, authorization for the use of military force against al Qaeda. In 2004, the Supreme Court ruled that this statute authorized the president to employ all the ‘fundamental incident\[s\] of waging war.’ This, by any reasonable standard, would include secretly listening in on the enemy's phone calls, and reading their faxes, emails and text messages.”

Rather than allow the President to use any tool to necessary to protect American lives and strike a blow to al Qaeda, the Democrats, and the entire Left institutional universe, hedged their bets and chose a different horse: Islamic terror. Due to twisted and perverse logic, they opted to placate radical Islam with such face-saving gestures as the New York Times shamefully attempting to expose the NSA wiretapping program in 2005, the incessant senatorial and congressional calls for surrender and retreat, as well as terror-apologist John Edwards triumphantly declaring that the war on terror was nothing more than a “bumper sticker slogan.”

Congressional officials, notably Democrats, deserved a well-placed rebuke. Rather than securing this country, they chose to take the ostrich route by sticking their hands in the sand.

In their estimation, we are not at war with militant Islam, but rather, George Bush.

Misguided? Yes…

Dangerous? Undoubtedly…

He's Got it Right

This may sound like major braggadoccio on his part, but… this particular Muslim has put his finger exactly on the pulse of the West! An exchange on Umma.com (H/T: Little Green Footballs) between a Westerner and a Muslim. The Westerner said:

July 28, 08:54 PM

agathon - The apparent [Thāhir] is that it is (permissible) for us to kill their women and children- even if it means that we lose profit/benefit from it [since keeping them alive is a profit/benefit because they become the property of the Muslims]; (and killing them in this situation is permissible) due to it threatening the hearts of the enemies and a humiliation for them.

Any community that believes this should be removed from existence. Any philosophy that preaches this should be banned from practice, be it in the western hemisphere or the east. This is why the US needs to fight this war in Iraq. Sooner or later, this will become a war against Islam, and Islam will become a distant memory.

I have no doubt that as this obvious non-Muslim commenter (whose account was suspended) says that if the current situation around the world continues unabated we will be heading towards a West versus Islam war. I’m also convinced that the Muslim who answered has a very realistic understanding of the sad situation in the West:

July 28th 9:01 PM Cartman - agathon, you are a fool if you think anyone can defeat islam. In general, we muslims are more zealous about our religion, and you can guarantee that almost every muslim government is going to take part, while not every non muslim government is going to take part because of the lack of interest for them.

Cartman has assessed the situation in the West, perfectly! IslamoFascists make no secret of their designs on the world of the kufar - infidel. Yet, just like the West did not believe that Hitler would do what he carefully delineated in his Mein Kampf, the same lethargy, or dislike for inconvenient, uncomfortable, truths prevalent then pervades the psyche of the West now. There is a real enemy at the gates, but he is not the one that scares me. The enemy within is far scarier, far more dangerous and holds the real key to the defeat of West.

I have often quoted Cicero saying, in 42 B.C.E.:

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the galleys, heard in the very hall of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor - he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and wears their face and their garment, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation - he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city - he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared.

As true , as visionary, as Cicero’s words were in his day, they are at least as much if not even more true today! But even those who refuse to pick up the gauntlet and would rather sit idly by the side, are seditious under the circumstances… As George Orwell said in the Partisan Review, in 1942:

Pacifism is objectively pro-Fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side, you automatically help out that of the other.

In the early 20s Oswald Spengler noted in his Decline Of the West, that because of a loss of spirituality in the West we are ripe for disintegration and takeover by a more committed people. The current Pope, a few month ago, talking about the de-Christianization of Europe alluded at that same loss of spirituality in the West. Churches and synagogues preach a love of life and remain more empty than full, fiery extremists Imams preach the cult of death and their mosques are filled with enthusiastic believers…

We muslims are more zealous about our religion, and you can guarantee that almost every muslim government is going to take part, while not every non muslim government is going to take part because of the lack of interest for them.

Unless we, the infidels, in the West wake up and are willing to step out of our artificial comfort zone and face the threat, rather than be lulled to sleep by false prophets (bought and paid for by the would be conquerors!), unless we are willing to rise and take decisive action… Cartman, as quoted above will be proven 100% right!

Think about it, gentle reader, think about these words very carefully… What will it take for the Western masses to wake up and smell the danger while they still have time to act?

The Left: aiding the enemy

By Todd Anthony
http://rightisright.squarespace.com

As we hear the Democrats in Congress and Senate clamoring to withdraw American military personnel from Iraq, the question everyone should be asking is this:

Are the Democrats aiding and abetting the enemy?

Ralph Peters, a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, raises points akin to the aforementioned “aiding” question in his today’s New York Daily Post article.

Despite what the Leftist media mouthpieces would have you believe, the worst possible news to the Democrats is occurring in Iraq…the surge is working. As Peter notes, here are the major developments:

* Al Qaeda lost the support of Iraq's Sunni Arabs. The fanatics over-reached: They murdered popular sheiks, kidnapped tribal women for forced marriages, tried to outlaw any form of joy and (perhaps most fatally, given Iraqi habits) banned smoking. In response, the Arab version of the Marlboro Man rose up and started cutting terrorist throats.

* Since the tribes who once were fighting against us turned on al Qaeda, our troops not only captured the senior Iraqi in the organization - which made brief headlines - but also killed the three al Turki brothers, major-league pinch-hitters al Qaeda sent into Iraq to save the game.

* It emerged that the Iraqi "head" of the terrorists was just a front - in the words of one Army officer, Omar al Baghdadi was "a Wizard of Oz-like creation designed to give an impression that al Qaeda has Iraqis in its senior ranks."

* Al Qaeda has been pushed right across Anbar, from the once Wild West to the province's eastern fringes. The terrorists are still dug in elsewhere, from the Diyala River Valley to a few Baghdad neighborhoods - but, to quote that senior officer again, "our forces have been taking out their leaders faster than they can find qualified replacements."

* After briefly showing the flag, Muqtada al-Sadr fled back to Iran again, trailed by his senior deputies. Mookie's No. 2 even moved his family to Iran. Why? Though he's been weak in the past, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is now green-lighting Iraqi operations against the Jaish al Mahdi, the Mookster's "Mahdi Army."

Furthermore, another troubling, yet positive development for the Democrats lies in the fact that the Iraq security forces are beginning to show signs of competency:

* The Iraqi Police Tactical Support Unit in Nasiriyah came under attack by Mahdi Army elements accustomed to intimidating their enemies. Supported by a brave (and tiny) U.S. advisory team, the police commandos fought them off. Instead of a walkover, the militia thugs hit a wall - and got hammered by airstrikes, for good measure. Then the Iraqi police counter-attacked. The Mahdi Army force begged for negotiations.

* In Mosul, Iraqi army and police units stuck to their guns through a series of tough combat engagements, with the result that massive arms caches were seized from the terrorists and insurgents. In Kirkuk, Iraqi police reacted promptly to last week's gruesome car-bombing - in time to stop two other car bombs from reaching their intended targets.

* In Baghdad, the surge isn't only about American successes - Iraqi security and intelligence forces conducted a series of hard-hitting operations against both al Qaeda and Iran-backed Special Group terrorists.

So the question remains: why are the Democrats aiding the enemy? Whether they realize it or not (which remains dubious), their anti-Bush rants, calls for withdrawal, and declarations of a lost conflict in Iraq, are posted on every al-Qaeda bulletin board in town (electronic or actual board).

Herein lies the dilemma: either the Democrats are fully aware of their sedition and continue to do so, are jeopardizing national security and merely pandering to the pseudo-powers on the far-left, or are so completely naïve that they refuse to believe a threat exists.

We are further witnessing Democratic sedition unfold in seeing the guest list for next week’s Daily Kos convention. By embracing a site that traffics in hate, the Democrats are only enforcing the notion that their true purpose, rather than serving the greater needs of this country, is to weaken it for their own political gain.

Islamic Russia and the End of Civilization

keeping cool - nice butt
Mutually Assured Destruction kept everyone cool
Pakistan has about 30 nuclear warheads and although this could be worrisome if Pakistan is ever taken over by religious zealots, it would be rather easy to destroy their nuclear capability before they got their turbans in a twist over something that would cause an Imam to declare war on the US.

However, Russia with 5,830 warheads, is a different problem. I know what you are going to say. We've lived with a nuclear Russia for more than half a century and mutually assured destruction has kept the sh*t from hitting the fan all this time. Except for one thing: the Russians were normal, civilized people without the promise of 72 virgins greeting them in Heaven if the Earth were totally pulverized.

But if primitive, barbaric Islam came to control Russia, what then? Far fetched? Follow this argument:

Christian Science Monitor,
Russia's population decline spells trouble

Russia is facing a demographic crisis so dire that its population could shrink by half within 50 years. The only obvious solution – to encourage youthful immigrants from overpopulated Asian neighbors such as China – is so politically sensitive that Russian leaders refuse to even discuss it.
...
Demographic experts say that the country is losing one million of its population annually, and the nosedive is accelerating.
...
Russian women, who tend to be as well-educated and career-oriented as their Western counterparts, have been been having fewer children since the 1970s. Births now stand at 1.1 per woman, far short of the 2.4 babies each that would be needed to stabilize the population.

America: the 21st century version of France?

By Todd Anthony
http://rightisright.squarespace.com

Thomas Sowell of RealClearPolitics.com writes a nice article equating the appeasers in the United States (read: far-Left and Democrats) with the French and Britons of the 1930’s in their vain attempt to appease Adolph Hitler.

Due to the Democrats pandering to the far-Left fringe groups, e.g. MoveOn.org, The Daily Kos, etc, this country is at a crossroads. Thanks to their tireless efforts to emasculate the military, intelligence, and border security, the Left has now made the country more vulnerable to future terrorist attacks.

“Back in the 1930s, the governments of the democratic countries knew what Hitler was doing -- and they knew that they had enough military superiority at that point to stop his military buildup in its tracks. But they did nothing to stop him.”

“Instead, they turned to what is still the magic mantra today – ‘negotiations.’”
When it comes to determining what Iran has in store for its nuclear program, it does not take an act of divine intervention to understand President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s true intentions. In an effort to hasten the return of the supposed 12th Imam, Ahmadinejad would undoubtedly launch a preemptive nuclear attack to ensure Armageddon.

Rather than confront this threat, the United Nations has attempted to approach Iran with pathetic half-measures in a futile to hoodwink the West. These futile attempts are undoubtedly a result of Russia and China’s lucrative business and oil connections with Iran.

No discussion of appeasement is complete without discussing arguably the greatest act of appeasement on record: British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain hopelessly conceding Czechoslovakia to Germany while proclaiming that “peace in our time” was achieved.

“We know now how short that time was. Less than a year later, World War II began in Europe and spread across the planet, killing tens of millions of people and reducing many cities to rubble in Europe and Asia. Looking back after that war, Winston Churchill said, ‘There was never a war in all history easier to prevent by timely action.’ The earlier it was done, the less it would have cost.”

Listen folks, it seems more coincidental that Free Societies now face the same challenge: confronting a bloodthirsty enemy hell-bent on usurping Western Civilization. Rather than confront this threat, the Left chooses to turn and run.

“At one point, Hitler could have been stopped in his tracks ‘without the firing of a single shot,’ Churchill said. That point came in 1936 -- three years before World War II began -- when Hitler sent troops into the Rhineland, in violation of two international treaties.”

Unfortunately, the United States seems to be on an island. With much of the Free World embracing Islam as a “religion of peace,” they are unable to see through the thin veneer of Iran’s lies. Despite brash overtures of “wiping Israel off the map,” or their support for insurgents in Iraq, most of the free world will not step to the plate.

“Nuclear weapons in the hands of Iran and its international terrorist allies will be a worst threat than Hitler ever was. But, before that happens, the big question is: Are we France? Are we morally paralyzed, perhaps fatally?”

Unfortunately, the Left either refuses to admit that that this threat exists, or blatantly denies that the threat is serious.

Yes, how can MAINSTREAM America identify with an ideology that refuses to confront this threat? I cannot believe that most Americans would accept appeasement of militant Islam.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I doubt it…

When a Religious Garment Ceases to be Religious…

Everyone agrees that there should be no limitations put in the way of any individual’s pursuit of his/her religion. The only time a limitation must be imposed, if at all, is when the pursuit of said religious practices interferes with the rights of others. As a devout Orthodox Jew, I applaud any woman dressing modestly, regardless of her religious beliefs. I, furthermore, oppose any attempt at curtailing someone’s right to don his or her religious symbols. But… I just read the following (H/T: Islam in Europe):

Over a period of four months six girls aged between 17 and 20 robbed fourteen elderly women in the Tensta, Rinkeby, Sundbyberg and Hässelby suburbs of Stockholm. On Friday four of the girls were jailed by Solna district court, reported Aftonbladet.

A 19 year old was given a two month prison sentence and further probation for robbery and falsification of documents. Three 17 year olds were sentenced to youth detention of between two years and two and a half years.

The other two girls were given suspended sentences.

During the attacks the girls hid their faces behind veils. In one incident, a 71 year old woman was pushed down a staircase after three of the girls snatched her handbag.

Prosecutor Viktor Carlberg said that he was largely satisfied with the verdict.

“It was serious and repeated crime,” he told Aftonbladet.

When religious garments are used as a disguise for criminal activity, as has happened in many places in Europe or as an escape plan (as happened in Pakistan’s siege of the Red Mosque, where the lead cleric sought to escape under the niqab as he hid among a group of women), then one is forced to ask if the niqab is indeed a religious duty. Several respected Islamic Imams say it is not!

For the sake of protecting the innocent (the foremost obligation of any government, whether local or national), the use of the of the niqab must be seriously curtailed. Muslim women already appear very modest by covering everything except the face. As I said above, not only have I no problem with that I think it is highly commendable… but to wear a garment to hide one’s identity while perpetrating a crime or to make a political statement makes a mockery of that woman’s (or disguised male’s!) purported religion. It also is an affront to the majority that do not follow that religion and their rights must be equally safeguarded, especially so when the use of the niqab is not, in the least bit, a religious obligation

Overstaying their Welcome?

Naharnet has the following about how public opinion is starting to turn against the Palestinian “refugees” in Lebanon:

Nahr al-Bared Battle Fuels Anti-Palestinian Sentiment
As the list of dead soldiers grows, anger mounts in villages of north Lebanon where the army has been locked in a deadly showdown with Islamist militants for more than two months.

Black-clad women shout angrily as men in sombre mood sit in heavy silence next to portraits of the “martyred” soldiers in impoverished villages in the remote north — a main reservoir for the country’s armed forces.

Elite unit soldier Bassam Jawhar, 29, was killed on July 14 during the ongoing battles around Nahr al-Bared refugee camp where Fatah al-Islam militants have been under army siege since May 20.

He was killed when a booby-trapped building collapsed on a patrol in Nahr al-Bared and it took the army six days to retrieve his body from under the rubble due to the intensity of the battles.

Like Jawhar, six other soldiers from Bebnin fell in combat in Nahr al-Bared in two months.

At his family home in the village, his widow Mariam, wearing a black dress and an embroidered headscarf, sits near the giant portrait of the “Shahid” (martyr in Arabic) standing proudly in full combat gear and holding a rocket-launcher.
“I delivered our baby the day he left, 50 days ago exactly,” said Mariam, 23. “He only saw the baby twice.”

Why was Jawhar killed? Because pro Syrian/Iranian militias from within the refugee camp decided to flex muscle, to flaunt how little they care for Lebanon… or for their own people, for that matter.

In another room, the grandfather holds his newly-born granddaughter in his arms as an endless queue of men flock in to present their condolences.

The procession takes place in silence, but anger is boiling.

“Don’t say Fatah al-Islam, it is an insult to Islam. Say ‘the criminal gang of Shaker al-Abssi,’” the Islamist group’s commander, said Mohammed Jawhar, a cousin of the slain soldier.

Across the dusty villages of the impoverished northern province of Akkar, the men enroll in the country’s armed forces by local tradition but mostly by necessity.

“There is not a single house where there is no soldier,” explained 42-year-old Zeina Sufain, who lost her 19-year-old son Firas on May 22.

“There is no work here. Even for those who go to school,” she said.

The list of soldiers killed in Nahr al-Bared has painfully reached 116, including 27 servicemen on the first day of the clashes when the Islamist extremists attacked most of them in their beds.

116 soldiers died defending their country from the enemy… within. Yes… the enemy is within Lebanon, within the refugee camps which for about 40 years now have been independent enclaves where neither the Lebanese police nor the Lebanese Army were allowed to go in, by mutual agreement, and this is their show of gratitude…

Reports of “massacres” against off-duty soldiers by Fatah al-Islam, including harrowing stories of servicemen executed at gunpoint or slaughtered with knives seemed to have at least momentarily ended decades of good relations with the Palestinian refugee camp.

“Let them go to hell,” shouted Sahar, Bassam’s aunt.
“We will never let the camp be rebuilt. We will never accept that the Palestinians come back. We used to buy from their shops, but they are traitors. They harbored these criminals, they helped them,” Mohammed Jawhar said.

“Some of them even married their girls to the terrorists” from Fatah al-Islam, shouted another man.

But despite their grief and great losses, Akkar villages continue to back the army and its military campaign on Nahr al-Bared.

“In Akkar we love the army,” said a cousin of one of the slain soldiers in Bebnin.

But in a poor house further down the street, Zeina Soufain voices rare criticism of the army.
“They sent them (soldiers) there (to Nahr al-Bared) like cannon fodder. They had no experience, and they only had a Kalashnikov,” she said.

Back at the Jawhar reception hall, a soldier came to present his condolences before returning to Nahr al-Bared after a six-hour leave, his first in 14 days.

“Morale is high, even the wounded soldiers want to return” to the battlefront, the soldier who did not wish to be identified told Agence France Presse.

“With our meagre means, we are combating a very well-trained enemy that kills with unbelievable savagery,” he said.

The soldier said the army was surprised by the “very sophisticated arms” of Fatah al-Islam which he said had “high-precision rifles, infra-red goggles and remote-controlled landmines.”

He said the soldiers “stay three days in the camp. They take turns to sleep. Then they leave and others replace them.”

Over the last few months we saw not only Palestinians fight savagely, ruthlessly, against Palestinians (Hamas vs. Fatah), we see them fight with the same hatred and ferocity against Lebanon, a country that extended its hospitality… Yes, gentle reader, you may argue that Lebanon, like Syria, like Jordan, like Saudi Arabia, like Egypt, did everything possible to keep them poor and unable to integrate into regular society. Let’s not forget however that only Lebanon gave the Palestinian camps sovereignty over their own land, and to what results?

Naharnet also reported today:

Army Seizes Explosives during Raid on Militants’ Shelter
The Lebanese army on Tuesday continued to tighten the noose around diehard Fatah al-Islam militants, pounding the northern Palestinian refugee camp of Nahr al-Bared with heavy artillery barrages. It The army’s guns bombarded the remaining Islamists’ pockets at the camp with long range artillery fire.

It said troops occasionally fought fierce house-to-house battles with the militants.

The state-run National News Agency said the Lebanese army on Tuesday also seized explosive materials as well as weapons, detonators and electronic devices during a raid on a shelter inside the camp on the outskirts of the northern port city of Tripoli.

It said a number of militants were killed in the attack.

NNA said troops also blocked most exits to a sanitary sewer system after they discovered that it had been used as routes of escape by the terrorists

There was no word on casualties from Tuesday’s fighting. NNA said the army’s guns bombarded the remaining Islamists’ pockets at the camp with long range artillery fire.

It said troops occasionally fought fierce house-to-house battles with the militants.

They do not let up, they are intent in dying and killing. Bloodshed seems to be all they care about! Can a people that embraces such a culture, endure long?

The only Arab country that actually welcomed them and gave them everything necessary to integrate them into their own society was Kuwait. What happened in Kuwait during Saddam’s invasion on August 2, 1990? Who turned out to be Saddam’s greatest cheerleaders in Kuwait? Those same Palestinians that had been received with open arms… such gratitude!

Unless the Palestinians choose a leadership that truly represent the healthy aspirations of the average man on the street, unless they are willing to lay down their weapons, get rid of their hatred against all and everyone they are destined to forever remain a world pariah. Will the plight of Palestinians continue to be dismal or will they succeed in bettering themselves and their future? The choice is theirs!

Telling it like it is

He’s not considered electable, perhaps that is why he’s not afraid to tell it like it is (powerful 4 minute video!):

We are in a global conflict with a force which wants to destroy us. I’ll just give you one example, because our enemies and many of our would-be friends who just don’t understand, always somehow bring it back to Israel…

If there is a civil war in Algeria and 100,000 Muslims are killed, it must be because of Israel.

If there are young girls walking to school killed by the Taliban for the purpose of terrorizing them from going, it must be because of Israel.

If there are six medical doctors living in Great Britain working for the National Health Service plotting terrorist attacks, they must be deranged because of Israel

If there are six terrorists in New Jersey, it’s probably because they once saw a map of Israel. Whatever happens on the planet, it can’t be for the real reason because the real reason is too terrifying.

The fact is, the irreconcilable wing of Islam is quite clear: They want to kill Salmon Rushdie because he expressed free speech. They killed a television producer in Holland because he expressed free speech. They drove a Somali Dutch parliamentarian out of Holland because she expressed free speech.

If they were in charge tonight, not a single woman would be in this room. So let’s be clear:

We have two choices: We can find a way to be reasonable and surrender, or we can defeat them.

Newt Gingrich, as promised in Contract with America (which he co-wrote with six other Republicans), brought an unprecedented set of legislation up for vote during his first one hundred days. He resigned from Congress shortly after the Republicans lost 5 seats in the 1998 Congressional elections and after his personal affair with a 33 year old staffer, Callista Bisek, came to light (an affair he conducted at the same time as Congress investigated and impeached President Clinton for perjury and obstruction of justice in the Paula Jones case). In 2000 he married Ms. Bisek and they currently live in Virginia.

Unlike Nancy “the most powerful woman in the world” Pelosi, Gingrich had more to show for his record of accomplishments of those first 100 days in office than Pelosi and her Democrat majority has accomplished in almost 8 months. The zealousness for reform, the cleanup of corruption, cronyism, and pork barrel legislation Pelosi campaigned on… proved to be just another in a long line of broken campaign promises. Is it any wonder that for the first time in history Congress has a lower popularity rating than the President?

Perhaps now that Gingrich is not in office (and thus beholden to no one!) his words should be noted and carefully pondered upon.

Thanks Far-Left

By Todd Anthony
http://rightisright.squarespace.com

Well, it was inevitable…

One particular demand of the far-left fringe groups has been met. A major player in the Democratic Party is calling on the Congress to "censure" President Bush.

According to the Associated Press, "Liberal Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold said Sunday he wants Congress to censure President Bush for his management of the Iraq war and his ‘assault’ against the Constitution."

Thus it begins, ladies and gentlemen. The Democratic Party has OFFICIALLY caved to the far-left by opening this particular can of worms.

It’s on…

While the Democratic Party claims malfeasance, they actually are only making this country weaker. Through their greedy shrill calls for impeachment, as well as their sickening displays of pandering, their bloodlust has forced the country to the brink of emasculation.

Essentially what the “Defeatocrats” are committing is party suicide. Little do they know that in the event of another major terrorist attack on this country, the good citizens won’t be blaming the President for “creating terrorists,” as the Left loves to declare.

Rather, it will be the Democrats who have truly broken the will of this country through their sheer sedition.

"But Feingold's own party leader in the Senate showed little interest in the idea. An attempt in 2006 by Feingold to censure Bush over the warrantless spying program attracted only three co-sponsors."

Sarcasm: that’s "good news." I thought would have assumed that Harry Reid and Nance Pelosi WERE that naïve and greedy for far-left support that they would have climbed aboard this runaway “censure” train. Surprisingly, they were not.

Feingold has two censure resolutions in place. Here is the crux of Feingold’s resolutions:

The first resolution would reproof Bush for, "getting the nation into war without adequate military preparation and for issuing misleading public statements. The resolution also would cite Vice President Dick Cheney and perhaps other administration officials."

The second resolution would censure Bush for, as the Democrats would say, "a continuous assault against the rule of law through such efforts as the warrantless surveillance program against suspected terrorists."

Here’s where Feingold speaks with a forked tongue, "This administration has weakened America in a way that is frightful."

What’s sad folks, is that he truly believes it. Actually, I’m afraid history has shown that appeasement and pacification does NOT work. Furthermore, the Democrats continued attempts to render impotent the government in its efforts to combat terrorism is truly weakening America.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Feingold's proposals showed the nation's frustration. But Reid said he would not go along with them and said the Senate needs to focus on finishing spending bills on defense and homeland security.
And in this report from The Capitol Times, Feingold is turning to the internet by pandering to the far-left’s hate machine, the Daily Kos, "Shortly after the show, Feingold posted a diary entry on the left-leaning blog the Daily Kos, saying ‘The last time I posted on Daily Kos, it certainly generated a lot of interest. As always, I appreciate how honest and passionate the Daily Kos community is about the issues that matter, and even when we don't agree it was important to have the civil exchange that we did.’"

However, many Daily Kos readers, as well as activists believe the measure to censure the president is essentially, a feeble effort. According to Buzz Davis, chairman of Veterans for Peace, "It is good that he is doing that. What he should be doing is demanding impeachment…Censure against these men is like asking killers if they'd please put down their guns."

Here’s where the Left and far-left really show their disconnect with mainstream America. Davis equates censure with "asking killers if they’d please put down their guns."

And he’s NOT kidding! These fringe-groups do not realize that they are in essence asking Islamic terrorists to "put down their guns."

It’s not difficult to interpret the rhetoric of the far-left. Seemingly, their mission is to emasculate this country until we are a shell of our former selves…

Thanks, far-left.

So it begins

Hamas and Fatah confront each other through college students in Nablus.

Hamas politburo chief Khaled Mashaal had recently warned Fatah against underestimating Hamas' strength in the West Bank.

This was a blatant warning to Mahmoud Abbas about what was to come. He doesn't seem to hear very good. Then again, he probably doesn't know what to do. After having failed in the Gaza Strip he is going to watch as people are murdered in the West Bank and that territory is taken over by Hamas. So far it is Mashaal 1, Abbas 0. A 2-0 score would be a route and mean that Abbas is dead. This also implies that hundreds, maybe thousands, of the "Palestinians" that are Abbas responsibility would have been killed. So much for that vaunted partner in peace.

Mashaal doesn't want peace with Israel. He wants the land that Israel currently sits on. He wants all of the Israelis and Jews gone from the region. He wants to setup his little nation so he can continue to kiss up to his sponsors in Damascus and Tehran. He considers himself to be a man of destiny, even more so than Ahmadinejad. He will kill whoever he needs to to attain the power he seeks. Living comfortably in Damascus he sends others out to die for him. Tragically they do it joyfully.

Take note of this day. College campuses are usually the stirring pot for any kind of revolution nowadays. It sure sucks to be a "Palestinian".

The stakes are higher

To those who have been sleeping or ignoring events in the Middle East, the stakes have risen. The status quo has shifted and the "same ol'" can't be relied on to occur.

Iran is in the process of developing a nuclear ability that will allow it to build destructive weapons. It is lead by a fanatic who believes that he is paving the way for the 12th imam of islamic lore. this maniac has allied himself with a fellow despot in Damascus as well as terror islamic terror organizations in Lebanon, Syria, "Palestine" and Iraq. He has been given support from a tyrant in Venezuela and a fellow maniac in North Korea. Anywhere there is anti-American and anti-Western sympathies, he has made inroads.

His fellow despot in Damascus is throwing out overtures of peace towards Israel for all the world to see while he rearms and redeploys his own military as well as the terror groups in "Palestine" and Lebanon. The world conveniently refuses to acknowledge this. Despite the Syrian army withdrawing from Lebanon, nothing there has really changed. Now the pro-Syrian insurgents and sympathizers can provide cover for the directing coming from Damascus.

As for the "Palestinian territories", Hamas now rules. They too are led out of Damascus. Having received the vote of the people they have attained a certain perceived level of credibility. The ignorant's that live in the west call it a victory for democracy as if an election was all that was needed to obtain democracy. The "palestinians" are the largest receivers of aid in the history of the UN. They receive more money and food than any other. If money is truly what provides affluence and growth, they should have been the most educated and advanced people on the planet. So much for that dated leftist bunk. Hamas has taken over the Gaza Strip. They will soon start agitating in the West Bank. There is nothing that the PLO can do about. Declaring Hamas illegal in the West Bank is like telling a kid he can't have a cookie. Hamas will only be more obstinate and violent. More "Palestinians" will die as a result of their "election". They chose violence and will now face the consequences.

What does all of this mean? Israel's enemies have allied, armed, and are in the process of setting up a full scale attack on the tiny sliver of a nation. There is not one inch of Israeli land that cannot be hit by these enemies. If an invasion were planned out properly, Israel wouldn't have enough arms or soldiers to defend itself without outside help.

If the enemy attempts this during the present tenure of Ehud Olmert it may stand a chance. If it waits until someone like Benjamin Netanyahu, the story changes. What the enemy does is not as important as what Israel will do. Will it defend the promised land or will it hand it back over to the Canaanites and Philistines?

By babies will they vanquish the West

In Yemen, only 23 per cent of women have access to contraception.VICE has an interesting report on a Yemeni hospital maternity unit: Born in Yemen. Yemini women are very fertile. They can expect on average 7.9 children compared to an average of 2.7 in the rest of the world.

The caption VICE has for this photo is: "In Yemen, only 23 per cent of women have access to contraception." The problem is that 100 per cent of this 23 per cent do not get even a proper gynecological exam. This woman for instance, is having her vagina examined through her eye sockets. Since Muslim doctors are not allowed to look at private parts of women then being examined through eye slits doesn't seem like a very promising medical technique.

Can there be a more primitive and barbaric religion that does not allow doctors to perform modern medical examinations?

There is no minimum marriage age in the Yemen, and marriages are consummated when the bride is as young as nine years old. Before the young girl reaches the age of nine a man may engage in all kinds of nasties to the young girl as long as there is no penetration, for example, sexual acts such as foreplay, rubbing, kissing and sodomy are allowed. So when you read other bloggers calling Mohammed a paedophile you now know where this comes from.

Star Tribune's Coleman: on the "wrong" side of the fence

By Todd Anthony
http://rightisright.squarespace.com

I came across this article in the Minneapolis Star and Sickle, er, STAR TRIBUNE, yesterday from resident liberal columnist Nick Coleman.

Ultimately, Coleman chides Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman (no relation) for his unabashed, unwavering support of the President regarding the Iraq War. Sadly, Coleman’s commentary resonates with the Left, for they love to call Iraq, Bush’s “Vietnam.”

“The Iraq quagmire has gone from bad to worse, but Norm is still wearing a Kool-Aid mustache.”

Coleman accuses the Senator of drinking Kool-Aid. But this begs the following question: who’s really drinking the Kool-Aid? I would contend that the Democrats are greedily lapping the Kool-Aid like dogs on a hot day. For they are the group that has 1.) shamefully attempted to pacify militant Islam; has the appeasement movement NOT learned from countless past conflicts that anything short of an unwavering, unified does not work? 2.) They have pandered to the fringe far-left groups who are so steadfast in their mutual hatred of the Bush administration that they are willing to destroy this country.

Depending on how you look at it, the Democrats’ collective ability to run away from a fight is either mind-boggling or appalling. Is anyone in this country unconvinced that the Democrats possess no spine, will, or fortitude when it comes to all issues, security-related?

“Democratic opponents like Al Franken have begun not-too-subtle campaigns to saddle Norm with the increasingly unpopular war. Despite the naked politics of that effort, Coleman's refusal to turn against the war -- as some of his Republican colleagues have done -- makes him ripe.”

Coleman’s above statement is depressing in that not only does he chastise the Senator for his support and ability to stand by his decisions and belief, but he also portends that he is ripe for attack. Despite the cacophony of dissent in the Democrat party and the increasing number of Republicans opposing Iraq, Coleman shows that he is a man of conviction. Yet Columnist Coleman attacks the man for staying true in his convictions.

“(Senator) Coleman recently was quoted saying, ‘We are going to be in Iraq a long time.’ If he thinks that's true -- and he's not against it -- he must defend it.”

Therein lies the inherent problem on the Left; they do not have the stomach for a long, protracted, yet vital conflict with a massive group of religious extremists who hate us not (necessarily) for our support for Israel, or other perceived ills against Islam. No, their hatred stems from our freedoms: religion (to belief or not to belief), speech, and acceptance.

Coleman throws out a couple of seemingly witty one-liners in his commentary. But his depressing commentary cannot hide the fact that the Democrats are the party of appeasers, lacking any will to defend or protect this country.

Coleman’s sad observations signifu the lack of fortitude and conviction on the Left. When the going gets tough, where does the Left go?

To run and hide…

Olbermann: This is Bush's War

By Todd Anthony
http://rightisright.squarespace.com

Growing up, I was a pretty big fan of the ESPN SportsCenter duo, Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann. Every night, viewers could count on witty banter between the two as well as charming one-liners.

But since Olbermann left his gig as SportsCenter anchor and eventually landed at MSNBC, I’ve disappointed, to be polite, with his nightly Leftist rants. The latest rants come by way of an MSNBC.com column.

In a letter from Undersecretary of Defense, Eric Edelman, he states the following, "'Premature and public discussion of the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq,' Edelman writes, 'reinforces enemy propaganda that the United States will abandon its allies in Iraq, much as we are perceived to have done in Vietnam, Lebanon and Somalia.'"

"Edelman adds: 'Such talk understandably unnerves the very same Iraqi allies we are asking to assume enormous personal risks.'"

Not to be outdone, a "spokesman for the senator says Mr. Edelman’s remarks are 'at once both outrageous and dangerous.'

Olbermann adds, "Those terms are entirely appropriate and may, in fact, understate the risk the Edelman letter poses to our way of life and all that our fighting men and women are risking, have risked, and have lost, in Iraq."

Olbermann possesses the audacity for castigating Edelman for essentially stating the obvious. The consequences of withdrawing our military from Iraq will be dire.

What is dangerous is that Democrats are NOT contemplating the disastrous ramifications of withdrawing American forces from Iraq. Note that they have yet to candidly discuss the high probability of a large-scale sectarian conflict, bands of roaming death squads, a massive refugee crisis, and a Turkish invasion into Kurdistan, just to name a few.

“A country — a government — a military machine — can screw up a war seven ways to Sunday. It can get thousands of its people killed. It can risk the safety of its citizens. It can destroy the fabric of its nation.”

Olbermann espouses the Leftist company line here by stating that “it can risk the safety of its citizens.” Essentially, he’s enforcing the notion that it is America who has perpetuated terrorism, not Islamic butchers.

“The selection of the wrong war, in the wrong time, in the wrong place — the most disastrous geopolitical tactic since Austria-Hungary attacked Serbia in 1914 and destroyed itself in the process — that had nothing to do with the overwhelming crisis Iraq has become. It isn’t Mr. Bush’s fault.”

But it couldn’t be the Left’s fault either, could it? Simply, the Left, far-left fringe groups, and the Mainstream Media have conspired at seditious levels to expose and attack the Bush administration at every turn in this larger conflict (Afghanistan and Iraq, primarily). This near-traitorous acts consist of the New York Times publishing stories about American servicewomen being sexually assaulted while in Iraq despite the fact that some of these women never performed a tour there, or the implication in the Abu Ghraib scandal that orders to humiliate and emasculate Iraqi prisoners came from either the Defense Department and the White House.

“The continuing, relentless, remorseless, corrupt and cynical insistence that this conflict somehow is defeating or containing or just engaging the people who attacked us on 9/11, the total “Alice Through the Looking Glass” quality that ignores that in Iraq, we have made the world safer for al-Qaida — it isn’t Mr. Bush’s fault!”

Again, Olbermann sounds the “It’s America’s fault” bell. It surely could not be that Islamic terrorists ultimately want to bring Islam to every corner of the world! Olbermann comments represent the vast majority of the Left and far-left fringe groups that 1.) blame America and Israel for all of the Muslim world’s ills; 2.) believe by appeasing and bowing to violence that somehow militant Islam will be placated and subsequently lay down their collective arms.

“The fault, brought down, as if a sermon from this mount of hypocrisy and slaughter by a nearly anonymous undersecretary of defense, has tonight been laid on the doorstep of... Sen. Hillary Clinton and, by extension, at the doorstep of every American — the now-vast majority of us — who have dared to criticize this war or protest it or merely ask questions about it or simply, plaintively, innocently, honestly, plead, ‘Don’t take my son; don’t take my daughter.’”

Note how Olbermann paints Hillary as a mere pawn/victim in this larger conflict. He does not mention the notion that Hillary, as well as other Democratic Congressional officials, Senators, pundits, lobbyists, and presidential candidates, stridently supported the President upon the eve of this conflict. Moreover, Democratic calls to usurp the nuclear, biological, and chemical threat that Saddam posed resonated loudly in the Western world during the 1990’s.

Yet when this Texas cowboy with his posse (Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc), as President Bush is portrayed, strode into town looking to “lynch” Saddam and gun down his sons, the world collectively sneered, despite the fact that these same people believed Saddam posed a threat to not only the Middle East, but the West as well.

Furthermore, could it be possible that Hillary and other Democrats have witnessed the MSM manipulate news reports are now riding the anti-war wave to political gain?

That couldn’t be, could it?

My how world opinion can change…according to the Left, the Mainstream Media, Europe, etc, Bush and Cheney concocted a vast scheme to manipulate intelligence and wage war against a peaceful, sovereign nation.

If you read the rest of the article, the remainder of Olbermann’s commentary seethes with typical anti-Bush venom…note the following lines:

“Let your minions try to spread the blame to the real patriots here, who have sought only to undo the horrors you have wrought since 2002.”

“Though the words might be erased from a million books and a billion memories, though the world be covered knee-deep in your lies, the truth shall prevail.”

“Sen. Clinton has reinforced enemy propaganda? Made it impossible for you to get your ego-driven, blood-steeped win in Iraq?”

Ultimately, Olbermann, like the rest of the Leftist ilk choose their words based on the following (as they accuse Bush, ironically, of the same):

--faulty evidence
--perverted facts
--lies

Olbermann, rather than telling the true story, attempts to tap into the vast anger on the Left and perpetrated in the Mainstream Media. Here’s where the Left loses: rather than discuss the truth with actual tangible facts, they speak from emotions.

Nothing more, nothing less…

More of what's to come

Hamas leaders on Thursday condemned Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's decision to hold early parliamentary and presidential elections and vowed to foil the vote.

They also accused Abbas of conspiring with Israel to assassinate Hamas leaders in the Gaza Strip.

This is humorous. Khalid Mashaal had put off killing Mahmoud Abbas because he was considered useful. Now Hamas is claiming that Abbas wants to kill Hamas' leadership. Don't you just love Middle East politics. Fatah loses in the Gaza Strip and flees to the West Bank. Hamas is attempting to agitate there and Abbas calls on the Fatah militia to turn in all their weapons. Then he attempts to ban Hamas in the West Bank while calling for early elections.

Hamas will not put up with this. Syria and Iran won't allow it. At some point Mashaal will give the word and the battle from Gaza will move to the West Bank. Abbas has proven that he doesn't have the knowledge to deal with a war so he will be forced to flee or die after watching his followers die. Hamas will not sit by idly while Mahmoud Abbas acts like he is in charge. The only thing that could prevent the West Bank from being taken over by Hamas is an invasion, by Israel, into the Gaza Strip. If Ehud Olmert truly believes that Mahmoud Abbas is a partner in peace then he needs to do everything he can to support him. This means putting Israeli soldier's lives on the line.

I don't believe Abbas is a legitimate peace partner. I don't think that 100 Hamas or Fatah lives are worth one Israeli soldier's life. But I do think that the decimation of Hamas and it's supporters in the Gaza Strip would be good for the region and for the world.

Infidels and the Religion of Submission

I have posted, in the past, here and here about how horribly some Muslims persecute other religions. Their attitude, their actions, are nothing more than proof positive of IslamoFascist designs on the world at large. Finally, some publications and some liberal politicians are starting to wake up. I can not help being outraged at these two reports.

The July 23 issue of Newsweek, has the following (H/T Debbie Schlussel):

Last Rites in the Holyland?
The world’s most ancient Christian communities are fleeing their birthplace.

July 23, 2007 issue - He refused to leave Baghdad, even after the day last year when masked Sunni gunmen forced him and eight co-workers to line up against a wall and said, “Say your prayers.” An Assyrian Christian, Rayid Albert closed his eyes and prayed to Jesus as the killers opened fire. He alone survived, shot seven times. But a month ago a note was left at his front door, warning, “You have three choices: change your religion, leave or pay the jeziya“—a tax on Christians levied by ancient Islamic rulers. It was signed “The Islamic Emirate of Iraq,” a Qaeda pseudonym. That was the day Albert decided to get out immediately. He and the other 10 members of his household are now living as refugees in Kurdistan.

Across the lands of the Bible, Christians like Albert and his family are abandoning their homes. According to the World Council of Churches, the region’s Christian population has plunged from 12 million to 2 million in the past 10 years. Lebanon, until recently a majority Christian country—the only one in the Mideast—has become two-thirds Muslim. The Greek Orthodox archbishop in Jerusalem, where only 12,000 Christians remain, is pleading with his followers not to leave. “We have to persevere,” says Theodosios Atallah Hanna. “How can the land of Jesus Christ stay without Christians?” The proportion of Christians in Bethlehem, once 85 percent, is now 20 percent. Egypt’s Coptic Christians, who trace the roots of their faith back to Saint Mark’s preaching in the first century, used to account for 10 percent of their country’s population. Now they’ve dwindled to an estimated 6 percent. “The flight of Christians out of these areas is similar to the hunt for Jews,” says Magdi Allam, an Egyptian-Italian author and expert on Islam, himself a Muslim. “There is no better example of what will happen if this human tragedy in the Arab-Muslim world is allowed to continue.”

Nowhere is the exodus more extreme than in Iraq. Before the war, members of the Assyrian and Chaldean rites, along with smaller numbers of Armenians and others, constituted roughly 1.2 million of the country’s 25 million people. Most sources agree that well over half of those Christians have fled the country now, and many or most of the rest have been internally displaced, but some estimates are far more drastic. According to the Roman Catholic relief organization Caritas, the number of Christians in Iraq had plummeted to 25,000 by last year. Of the 1.7 million Iraqi refugees in Jordan and Syria, half are Christians, says Father Raymond Moussalli, a Chaldean vicar who now says mass every night in a basement in Amman.

The message from the IslamoFascists is clear. There will be no peace until the whole world is Muslim or until the West wakes up (while it still can) and teaches these cretins an unforgettable lesson, and if by teaching such a lesson these subhumans get their 72 virgins each then I guess the West will have only accelerated these guys’ “rewards”. It would be a win/win situation would’n it, gentle reader?

Over the centuries, the region’s Christians have frequently made common cause with their Muslim neighbors. Leaders of some Christian factions even backed Hizbullah during last summer’s Lebanon war, and Arabic-speaking Christians in the Palestinian territories have regularly sided with the Muslim majority against the Israeli occupation. Five years ago Palestinian militants found sanctuary from Israel’s tanks inside Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity. Nevertheless, old relationships are crumbling now. When Pope Benedict XVI quoted a medieval scholar’s critical comments on the Prophet Muhammad, last September, furious Palestinians reacted by torching at least half a dozen churches on the West Bank. About 3,000 Christians remain in Gaza—many of them seeking new homes somewhere else. “We’re living in a state of anxiety,” says Hanady Missak, deputy principal of the Rosary Sisters School in Gaza City. Militants ransacked the school’s chapel during the battle between Hamas and Fatah last month. Crosses were broken and prayer books burned.

Nice way to show gratitude to the very same churches and priests that gave these vermin sanctuary against dem Jooz from the Zionist Entity. And Hamas, who wants to show the world that they are capable of running a government, that they believe in law and order, well… the truth is an inconvenient one, isn’t it? About 3,000 Christians remain in Gaza—many of them seeking new homes somewhere else. “We’re living in a state of anxiety,” says Hanady Missak, deputy principal of the Rosary Sisters School in Gaza City. Militants ransacked the school’s chapel during the battle between Hamas and Fatah last month. Crosses were broken and prayer books burned. I guess no gratitude was shown them because these Christians were merely being used…

At least a few moderate imams are speaking out against attacks on Christians. “I ask the culprits to return to the Holy Qur’an and reread it,” said Sheik Muhammed Faieq in a recent sermon at the Mussab Mosque in the Baghdad suburb of Dora, where jihadists have waged a cleansing campaign against Christians. “Forcing people to leave their religion or properties is contradicting Islam’s traditions and instructions.” For many in the Middle East, the admonition comes too late. “There is no future for Christians in Iraq for the next thousand years,” says Rayid Paulus Tuma, a Chaldean Christian who fled his home in Mosul after two of his brothers were gunned down gangland style. His pessimism is shared by Srood Mattei, an Assyrian Christian now in Kurdistan: “We can see the end of the tunnel—and it is dark.”

For those of you who thought that crucifixions went out of style (H/T: Atlas Shrugs) with the Roman Empire’s grip on the Middle East, read on so you will understand how dark the tunnel, referred to above, and its end really are…

Report: Christians crucified by terrorists in Iraq
Believers in Jesus said to be nailed to crosses, tied with ropes, set ablaze

Christians in Iraq, including converts from Islam and people involved in mixed-faith marriages, are being crucified by Muslim terrorists, according to a Dutch member of Parliament studying the war-torn country.

Several Iraqi Christians “are nailed to a cross and their arms are tied up with ropes. The ropes are put on fire,” Joel Voordewind told BosNewsLife, an online news agency focusing on Christians and Jews in difficult circumstances.

According to the site, Voordewind described how a person, who “survived” a crucifixion, “even showed holes in his hands,” apparently from nails.

Voordewind said victims of the crucifixions are “in most cases Christian converts who abandoned Islam or people who, religiously speaking, are involved in mixed marriages.”

He did not specify how many Christians have been crucified in recent weeks and months, as an official report is expected soon. Voordewind is slated to present his findings to Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxime Verhagen within the next few days.

The report comes as thousands of Christians are said to be fleeing Iraq due to ongoing threats and violence against them. Just yesterday, over 80 people were killed in bomb blasts in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk. Most of the casualties resulted from a suicide truck bomb which detonated near the offices of the Kurdish political party led by Iraq’s President Jalal Talabani.

BosNewsLife says Voordewind was part of a Dutch delegation visiting several countries in the Mideast, including Syria, where several lawmakers held talks with the terrorist group Hamas.

For those whose eyes, ears and minds are so closed that they fail to see the danger, let me tell you a little about Joel Voordewind. He is a Dutch Member of Parliament representing the Christian Union Party. He was part of a Dutch delegation visiting several countries in the Mideast, including Syria, where several lawmakers held talks with the terrorist group Hamas. He went to the Mideast not to instigate further trouble, he went to the Middle East to start a dialogue with Muslims, including Hamas… and the above is the shocking news he found. Gentle reader, he’s not describing an event that happened twenty one centuries ago, his shock is about barbaric acts happening right now, as we speak… Several Iraqi Christians “are nailed to a cross and their arms are tied up with ropes. The ropes are put on fire…”

Christians have been living in the Middle East for two thousand years, centuries before Islam was born! Christians have often sided with the Muslims against the Jews, some even gave these Muslims sanctuary and... this is how they get repaid, crosses were broken and prayer books burned… Anyone who believes that the problem in the Middle East are merely a Zionist/Palestinian problem should reexamine those illusions and realize the true magnitude of the IslamoFascist threat. A person, who “survived” a crucifixion, “even showed holes in his hands,” apparently from nails… After 2000 years, Christianity is becoming extinct in its cradle… the West, its culture and its lifestyle, is next! “The flight of Christians out of these areas is similar to the hunt for Jews,” says Magdi Allam, an Egyptian-Italian author and expert on Islam, himself a Muslim. “There is no better example of what will happen if this human tragedy in the Arab-Muslim world is allowed to continue.” So… WHY IS THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA IGNORING THIS?!?!?

Timothy Ash: It's Bush's Fault

By Todd Anthony
http://rightisright.squarespace.com

Noted Leftist Timothy Ash from the Guardian spins the same tired line in the Los Angeles Times today.

Here's the crux of his article: rather than assign blame where blame is due (with the Iraqi people for failing to step and take control of their country), he chides President Bush and his administration for essentially creating 1.) a humanitarian crisis; 2.) MORE terrorists.

Let's examine a few of Ash's points:

“President Bush says he's determined to give the commanding general in Iraq, David Petraeus, the troop levels he asks for when he reports back in September, and the White House may hold the line for now against a Democrat-controlled Congress.”

That’s good; it’s important to listen to generals and commanders on the ground rather than heed advice from the armchair commanders in Congress. Career politicians like Harry Reid and John Murtha have no business stating what the current situation is in Iraq.

“(T)he most outspoken protagonist of hanging in there to win in Iraq, John McCain, has seen his campaign nosedive.”

That’s an interesting, Left take on McCain’s floundering campaign; or perhaps his lack of success could be attributed to the glut of consultants and his stance on the failed comprehensive immigration reform bill.

“In a poll for CNN, 54% said the United States' action in Iraq was not morally justified. In one for CBS, 51% endorsed the assessment — shared by most of the experts — that U.S. involvement in Iraq was creating more, not fewer, terrorists hostile to the United States.”

Need I say more? The man quotes CNN and CBS, where the Mainstream Media as a leftist mouthpiece is completed embodied. Furthermore, he espouses the Leftist line that the United States, not the terrorists, responsible for senseless brutality that occurs in the Middle East everyday.

“The most probable consequence of rapid U.S. withdrawal from Iraq in its present condition is a further bloodbath, with even larger refugee flows and the effective dismemberment of the country. Already, about 2 million Iraqis have fled across the borders, and more than 2 million are internally displaced.”

Ash’s statement above seemed to be the only one that was factually correct. The ramifications of a withdrawal from Iraq more than likely would dire, and devastating.

“Besides the effective destruction of the Iraqi state, these include the revitalizing of militant Islamism and enhancement of the international appeal of the Al Qaeda brand; the eruption, for the first time in modern history, of internecine war between Sunni and Shiite, ‘a trend that reverberates in other states of mixed confessional composition’; the alienation of most sectors of Turkish politics from the West and the stimulation of authoritarian nationalism there; the strengthening of a nuclear-hungry Iran; and a new regional rivalry pitting the Islamic Republic of Iran and its allies, including Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas, against Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan.”

Yet folks, this is what the Democrats are willing to accept, just to appease the far-left fringe groups! I cannot fathom something as irresponsible as vacating Iraq. More than likely, it will be the extremist groups that fill, VIOLENTLY, the power vacuum.

“The U.S. has probably not yet fully woken up to the appalling fact that, after a long period in which the first motto of its military was "no more Vietnams," it faces another Vietnam.”

The Left LOVES to call Iraq, “Bush’s Vietnam.” Yet, the Democrats blithely demand a complete withdrawal of American soldiers. Have they ever truly pondered the consequences?

Finally, Ash makes this statement, “Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo have done terrible damage to the U.S. reputation for being humane; this defeat will convince more people around the world that it is not even that powerful.”

The Left blames the Bush and Cheney administration for isolated incidents at Abu Ghraib. The atrocities were committed at a low-level, despite the Mainstream Media’s vain attempts to trace the incidents back to the Department of Defense and the White House.

Moreover, the Left paints the Guantanamo Bay detention facility as a mass torture house. First, what constitutes torture? The Left will tell you that waterboarding, for example, is torture. Technically, waterboarding is an advanced interrogation technique. The United States military does not rip off fingernails; apply electrical currents to genitals, or other abhorrent torture methods. Yet, the Left would have you believe that the Bush administration is on par with Saddam Hussein, Hitler, Stalin, Adi Amin, and Pol Pot.

The Democrats have painted the Bush administration as monsters. Furthermore, the Mainstream Media has waged an internecine campaign of seditious reporting to expose and embarrass the President.

How irresponsible…

Israel doesn't need this kind of military "leader"

Claiming that Hamas has jumped light years since Israel's disengagement from Gaza, a high-ranking IDF officer said that there was currently a limited window of opportunity for Israel to confront the Hamas threat in the Gaza Strip.

Alright. I'm not a military expert but I would say poppycock to this report. There is not a limited window. If an all out invasions was properly planned and executed Hamas wouldn't stand a chance against the IDf and the IAF. The fact of the matter is, 13,000 Hamas terrorists can't fight against Israel. The only way Israel could lose is if they defeated themselves as the did against Hizbollah.

To attack the Gaza Strip it must be approached with the idea that there are no allies in the area. Everyone is an enemy. There is no logical reason that Hamas could hold out. Israel could do to them what they want to do to Israel, drive them into the sea.

There's nothing complicated about it. Either fight properly or loose trying to fight nice.

War is ensured

Even if Mahmoud Abbas were the good man I don't think he is, he is in a no win situation in regards to Hamas.

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas announced on Wednesday that he was working toward holding early parliamentary and presidential elections and said there would be no dialogue with Hamas until the Islamist movement ended its violent "coup" in the Gaza Strip.

If Abbas were to allow things to continue on their present course the split within "Palestine" would continue to widen. By refusing to talk to Hamas and calling for early elections, Abbas is ensuring more murderous attacks. The situation he is in was started centuries ago and has only escalated at an increasing rate over the last 59 years. There is nothing he can do about it.

Even if Abbas calls early elections, it's unlikely that the vote would also be held in the Gaza Strip. Hamas officials have made it clear that they won't accept early elections under the current circumstances.

Israel may get a mild reprieve when Hamas declares it's own state and continues to agitate in the West Bank. The "Palestinian" civil war has started. Abbas versus Mashaal is where we stand now. Who has the power, authority, and resolve to win this conflict? As of now the edge goes to Hamas. They have the finances from Syria and Iran as well as the arms and hatred to go with it.

In regards to the conference that President Bush has called for:

"This conference will help a lot in boosting the peace process," Abbas added. "Whenever the international community meets, this leads to positive results for the peace process."

This is pure delusion. What positive results?

As usual, this is only going to get worse. Countries and organizations in the Middle East are taking up sides and trying to win themselves allies and support. It's only a matter of time before we see the war that governments have tried to prevent for decades. Tragically it was the action of these same governments that have led to this point.

Masterful Doublespeak?

Muslims, or at least their self appointed spokesmen are totally incapably of finding fault within themselves. Everything bad that may be happening to them, any inconvenience, is caused not by their own attitudes and lifestyles but rather by those infamous infidels who are so incomprehensibly Islamophobic. What a great way to deal with a problem! Don’t you think so, gentle reader?

Today’s Washington Times has an article entitled Bush office is anti-Muslim, group says:

A Muslim civil rights group today blamed Bush administration policies for promoting “Islamophobia” and said the “war on terror” won’t stop terrorists.

“The new perception is that the United States has entered a war with Islam itself,” said Parvez Ahmed, chairman of the national board of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

“Terrorism is a tactic. You cannot eradicate it by declaring a war against it. The war on terror is causing us infinitely more harm than the terrorists could have ever imagined.”

Yes, gentle reader, if you shift the problem’s focus from the cause to the effect the problem goes away... doesn't it? I seem to have learned otherwise but - hey - I’m just another infidel!

You cannot eradicate it [terrorism] by declaring a war against it, I agree! Do you know why? As long as the “war against terror” is not an all encompassing war against any terrorism anywhere around the globe, it remains merely a declaration, merely a bumper sticker… in spite of its tremendously high cost. You can only eradicate terrorism by fighting it on its own terms, using its own tactics and weapons.

Mr. Ahmed, who spoke at CAIR symposium at the National Press Club, said the war against terrorists is driven by an “irrational” fear that the Bush administration has inculcated in the American public. The chance of being killed in a terrorist attack, he said, is 1 in 80,000 over a lifetime.

Would Dr. Parvez Ahmed be man enough to look in the eye of a husband or wife, father or mother, son or daughter of any of the victims of 9/11 and repeating that ludicrous statement? Below is a chart of the fatalities of that infamous day:

Fatalities (excluding hijackers)
New York City World Trade Center 2,603 died and another 24 remain listed as missing
American 11 88
United 175 59
Arlington Pentagon 125
American 77

59

Shanksville United 93 40
Total 2,974 died and another 24 remain listed as missing.

The youngest victim in the hijacked planes was 2, on Flight 175, the oldest was 82 on Flight 11. In the buildings the youngest person was 17, the oldest 89… The Wikipedia says: According to the Associated Press, the city identified over 1,600 bodies but was unable to identify the rest (about 1,100 people). They report that the city has “about 10,000 unidentified bone and tissue fragments that cannot be matched to the list of the dead.” Bone fragments were still being found in 2006 as workers prepared the damaged Deutsche Bank Building for demolition. The average age of all the dead in New York City was 40. […]All of the fatalities were civilians except some of the 125 victims in the Pentagon. Would Mr. Ahmed care to repeat his idiotic “statistics”?

“It is important to bear in mind that terrorists cannot destroy America,” he said as a member of a panel discussing the symposium theme, “Attacking Islam: Implications for Social Cohesion and U.S. Relations with the Muslim World.” The U.S., he said, is too powerful and too resourceful for terrorists to destroy.

Does he mean, therefore, that America should get used to such minor annoyances as 9/11 and do nothing to stop any possible re-occurrence? It certainly would make life a lot easier for the terrorists if we just got used to the idea. There would be nothing to stop them from killing more Americans and eventually they'll come to dominate us by the sheer power of fear… Hmmm, I see! Do you think, gentle reader, that perhaps we should heed Ahmed’s words? Maybe he’s right… why should we interfere with terrorists? Just let the boys do their job unhindered!

The Bush Administration’s policies in Iraq has driven a deep wedge between Muslim’s and non-Muslim people in the United States, he said.

“Policies driven by fear will be naturally irrational. Thus in this state of irrationality the Bush administration often through their surrogates have resorted to fear-mongering. This has unleashed a vicious cycle, one in which fear leads to bad policies and bad policies lead to more fear.”

Hmmnnn… so Americans have no reason to fear terrorists, they are just a bunch of nice mischievous boys playing with explosives, hijacking planes, blowing up American embassies in Africa… just for some clean fun… they really mean no harm! Oh, silly me! To think I was ready to believe they really were a threat!

“The popular discourse in America today remains mired in stereotypical denouncements about Islam. As a result Muslims and their faith remained misunderstood, feared and shunned.”

If Ahmed truly believes that Americans have a wrong perception of people of his religious creed, perhaps he might start by telling the terrorists PR agents that they are projecting the wrong image… Oh, wait! They are only following the basic tenets of the religion of peace submission, as their extremist Imams care to interpret it. Hmnnn… perhaps, Parvez Ahmed, chairman of the national board of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is merely engaging in some masterful doublespeak. Will it fly, or will the people see through the lies?

The Dangerous Folly of a Dhimmi

A country, any country, in order to survive must believe that it has something to offer others do not. A country, whether it is the world’s greatest democracy or the world’s greatest dictatorship, in order to survive must defend its values however despised they may be by others. When a country, any country, starts to deviate from such a path it then opens up a dangerous road to its own destruction from within.

Yesterday’s New York Post featured the following (H/T: The Muslim Question 2):

When Hezbollah Trumps Old Glory

MOST Americans know that burning our nation’s flag is protected by the First Amendment. No matter how distasteful to some, the Supreme Court has consistently held flag-burning to be protected as expressive political conduct.

So if burning an American flag is protected speech, burning other flags - say, the flags of political parties considered to be terrorist groups by our government - would also be protected speech, right?

Right - except at San Francisco State University (SFSU), where the First Amendment takes a backseat to Hamas and Hezbollah.

As part of an anti-terrorism rally held on campus last October, SFSU’s College Republicans stepped on homemade replicas of Hamas and Hezbollah flags drawn on butcher paper. Unbeknownst to the group, both flags contain the word “Allah” in Arabic - prompting a student to file a complaint accusing the College Republicans of “walking on a banner with the word ‘Allah’ written in Arabic script.”

Even though the flag-stomping was protected speech - a fact pointed out twice to SFSU President Robert Corrigan in letters from the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education - SFSU administrators decided to put the College Republicans on trial for “attempts to incite violence and create a hostile environment” and “actions of incivility.” An SFSU spokesperson even told the San Francisco Chronicle that the real issue was “the desecration of Allah.” The ensuing investigation and hearing lasted more than five months before SFSU finally dropped the charges against the group under intense public criticism.

The College Republicans filed a federal lawsuit this week, arguing that SFSU violated the group’s First Amendment rights by subjecting the group to an investigation instead of dismissing the charges out of hand. The suit also challenges SFSU’s speech code, which requires students “to be civil” to one another - a rule that can only be selectively enforced against dissenting opinions on a campus as polarized as SFSU.

Constitutionally speaking, this case isn’t even close: There’s no exception for Hamas, Hezbollah or even Allah under the First Amendment. Now SFSU has to answer for violating the Constitution in court.

Written by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (thefire.org).

Few countries in the world have so little pride in what they stand for as to decriminalize the burning of their own flags, the US - sadly - seems to have lost that pride. What is mind boggling in the story above, however, is that a liberal who prides himself on total freedom of expression will uphold that freedom when it comes to our own Stars and Stripes while clamping down on that very same freedom when it comes to the flags of organizations which are terrorist entities? If desecration the American flag is merely freedom of speech how much more permissible is it, how much more an expression of freedom of speech is it to desecrate the flag of those organizations that hate us and everything we stand for? At least a rational mind, an intellectually honest mind, would not fail to see the contradiction in SFSU’s President’s action.

Michael Savage, the radio talk show host, has popularized the phrase Liberalism is a Mental Disorder, after the title of his book. To see the folly of SFSU President Robert Corrigan, to see the total lack of consistency in this dhimmi’s thinking, to see how he caves in to the diktats of Hezbollah’s and Hamas’ admirers by denying the exercise of freedom of speech (a right which by the very principles he claims to believe in, he should uphold and defend until his last drop of blood), is a disgusting display of cowardice! It is unequivocal proof that those who hate our country, those whose lifestyles, whose belief systems hold no values worth defending are the true enemies within. It is proof of the mental disorder that has taken over those whose job it is to educate our young, those whose job it is to shape the minds of America’s future leaders.

I am not American born. I first came to this country, as a legal immigrant, in 1962 from Uruguay. I left in 1968, and came back with my family in 1977. Why? This country may not perfect, a lot needs to be worked on, much needs to be improved, changed, or discarded… but… you wanna know something? Nowhere else are there so many opportunities for improvement, no where can one find so many individual freedoms. To hate America, is to hate all the values liberals claim to stand for. To ally themselves, to act according to the dictates of enemies of this country shows how dangerously misguided some “educators” are.

But this is a free country, everyone is entitled to their beliefs… even despicable ones. I have no beef with Robert Corrigan’s personal ideas, even if they repulse me. Like Voltaire said, I disagree with every word you say, but I will defend with my last drop of blood your right to say it. Voltaire’s dictum represent the ultimate principle of Liberalism, one that should be fought for and defended by every freedom loving American until one’s last ounce of energy. That principle of true freedom of speech is what made this country so great. To selectively deny that freedom of speech smacks of the worst aspects of fascism, an ideology today’s fashionable leftards claim to oppose…

I love this country and I love my flag. To fix whatever may be wrong with our society (yes, gentle reader, much needs to be fixed!) requires a deep love for the country that has given so much to the world, that says “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!“. For a liberal educator to usurp his students’ or his staff’s freedom of speech, because of his own capricious instantly made-up rules, is an intolerable act! It is a blatant denial of every stanza emblazoned on the Statue of Liberty.

Even though the flag-stomping was protected speech - a fact pointed out twice to SFSU President Robert Corrigan in letters from the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education - SFSU administrators decided to put the College Republicans on trial for “attempts to incite violence and create a hostile environment” and “actions of incivility.” An SFSU spokesperson even told the San Francisco Chronicle that the real issue was “the desecration of Allah.” LIAR!!! Robert Corrigan should at least be consistent if he expects to be believed. SFSU Muslim students are known for their blatant denigration of Christianity and Judaism, yet the same Robert Corrigan has never found it necessary to castigate them for “attempts to incite violence and create a hostile environment” and “actions of incivility.” What a contemptible creature, what a true Dhimmi, SFSU President Roberrt Corrigan is! What a fascist! Mussolini, Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot would be proud!
