***UPDATED-11/1*** Some reactions:

Watch a brilliant Vent at Hotair.com.

Kerry may inadvertently have stated the unfortunate truth that a very large proportion of today's military is comprised of young people who barely made their way through high school and had nothing close to an educational or career prospect. As a 12th grade Government teacher I see the phenomenon year after year of aimless students devoid of ability or ambition settling upon military service as the only possible way to support themselves in adulthood. It came as no surprise when the local paper reported the other day that the highway near the local naval base has the highest rate of DUI arrests in the area. It comes as no surprise when I hear of our troops commiting atrocities in Iraq for sport or amusement. These kinds of behaviors are precisely what I would expect of the students I have who enter the armed forces. Fortunately, there are many exceptionally capable officers to discipline and mold them, but in an era when Recruitment is King we will lower our standards and inundate the military with imbeciles and miscreants. Thank you, John Kerry, for stating the obvious. -- Anonymous [of course...Joe S.]

It stuns me that some people seem to believe that Kerry's remark was aimed at our troops, when it's clear as day that this was just another cheap shot at President Bush. Kerry is a populist and this is what he does. He goes around the country and exploit people's discontent about the war in Irak. He is nothing but a pathetic politician wannabe president and he shows it every day. However, what Republican media machine is doing now sickens me even more then Kerry. They even surpassed Democrats in their efforts with Foley's story by completely twisting the truth and deliberately misinterpreting Kerry's message. Now they are going to try and keep it on front pages until the voting is done and it matters no more. It's a shame. Our politicians should be better then radical islamic clerics who employ the same methods in misguiding people and recruiting them for their jihad, the best example being the latest scandal about Pop's remarks about their religion. Why does politics have to be such a filthy business? C'mon people, open your eyes, don't let media and politicians play you like some role-play strategy game. Don't let them think for you. Use your own heads deciding how you are going to vote Nov. 7. -- Vlad From Massachusetts [ok Vlad!...Joe S.]

Now its up to the Americans to realize who is really stuck in Iraq. Is it Bush? Or the US Army? Simple, isn't it? He was making an indirect statement at the president of the United States of Free America pointing out that he is an illiterate, foolish commander-in-chief who led his force into nowhere only to have dirt on their face. Kerry's "you" refers to Bush and his entire Administration. I fail to see why the Americans missed the point when surprisingly the not-so-smart Mr. President and Co. understood exactly what Senator Kerry meant.-- Nihaj

I have listened to all of the pundits attempt to spin Senator Kerry's remarks as a cut against President Bush. I'm sorry, no logically-thinking human being could do so. His remarks are demeaning to all those who are currently serving and he needed to apologize. By not doing so immediately, he demeans our servicemen and women. I have two nephews who have served in Iraq. Neither are "dumb"". Rather, both are college graduates. I have friends whose sons could have attended nearly any college in Maryland but chose to serve. Senator Kerry only proved his arrogance by not apologizing and he validated the choice of Americans two years ago.-- Jeffrey From California

Democrats, look for anything negative in all that is Conservative. Meanwhile they sit on their high horse shouting down to the "ignorant" masses about how mighty and enlightened they are. Kerry's remarks are exactly what they sounded like, him be condescending to the very people that fight and die to ensure that he has the right to be an elected idiot. Also, as one of the ones that wound up in Iraq, I would like think the time I spent in college was well worth it.-- Jonathan From Woodbridge, VA

He should apologize and stop telling us what he said. We heard what he said. We're not stupid.-- Frank

For those who are behind John Kerry's remarks as a botched joke--next time hire a comedian and not a joke of a person.

Iraq asks troops to stay as U.S. death toll spikes

The title sounds like a bad Halloween joke (thank Reuters for the creepy spin) but...

Speaking shortly after a bomb killed 28 people in a Baghdad Shi'ite slum on a day that saw at least 70 Iraqis killed across the country, Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari told Reuters: "The presence of the Multi-National Force is indispensable for the security and stability of Iraq and of the region at the moment."

And he is right. Even if he sounds republican.

A marine killed on Sunday in western Anbar province, where troops are fighting Sunni insurgents, and an unidentified member of the military police shot dead by a sniper in east Baghdad took the U.S. military death toll to 101 so far in October.

It was 71 last month, and last passed 100 in January 2005. In all, 2,814 Americans have died in the Iraq conflict.

Commanders say October's increase is partly due to attacks in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Since militants released a video during last week's festival for the end of Ramadan showing U.S. soldiers being shot, apparently by snipers, the military has also been looking more closely at shooting incidents.

Ahmadinejad's Ultimatums

It's good to read the words of those who have declared war against us, lest we forget that this IS a Global war on Terrorism and forget the danger we are in by politicizing the war that was waged against us.

On October 20, 2006, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gave an address to the Iranian people really, it was a rant). The address was aired on Jaam-e Jam 1 TV. Here are some excerpts ....

Here's looking at you, kid!Mahmoud Ahmadinejad:
This [Zionist regime] was established in order to swallow up the entire region, and to place it at the disposal of the world forces. It is a big lie that it was done in order to protect those killed in World War II, and in order to compensate them.

Over 60 million people were killed in World War II. Let's assume you are right, and six million [Jews] were among those killed. How come none of you mourn the other 54 million? Why don't you pay reparations to them? Why don't you ever think about them? All your sorrow, your pity, your mourning cries are over [victims] who were counted by I don't know whom...

Obviously, some of the Western countries are being held hostage today by the Zionists. Some Western countries have been paying reparations for 60 years. We sent letters and messages, and asked them: "When will these relations, which evolved from World War II, come to an end?" A war broke out 60 years ago, and some considered themselves the victors in this war. They occupied Palestine. They set up bases throughout the world, and want to act aggressively against all the peoples. They also gave themselves privileges in the international forums, and the other peoples must submit to their control. We asked them when these relations would come to an end. We asked the leader of one of these countries: "Until when will your people have to pay reparations?" For two generations? Three generations? For a 100 years? A 1,000 years? A few thousand years?

The existence of this regime is so essential for these countries that in some of them, they even built monuments. You know that every country builds monuments for the objects of their pride. They take their children, from an early age, to show them these monuments, in order to help them develop their identity, and to instill in their memory the things that make them proud, in order to feel power and honor. In some of these countries, they set up monuments, whose purpose was to degrade that very nation. From an early age, they take their children and say to them: "Look, our ancestors were murderers. Our ancestors used to burn people. We are in debt."

Something happened three generations ago. Let's assume it was true. What is the crime of the youth born in Europe today? What is the crime of people living in the world today that they have to pay reparations so high they cannot even be calculated? The peoples have to pay any sum decreed by America and England. What is the reason for this? When will there be an end to these claims? What is their limit? What does America have to do with this? Why does America extort the world, under the pretext of the Holocaust? Why does England extort [the world]? Wasn't it England that laid the foundations for the fear that led the Jews to flee to the occupied lands?

They said: "We want to establish a place for the survivors." How many survivors were there? With false promises, you gathered the wretched people from Africa, South America, Asia, and North America, and you brought them there. You banished one people from its land, and you want to create another people by force. Why? Why? Are all those now living in Palestine survivors of the war? We asked [these Westerners]: "The current leader of the Zionist regime – where did his parents live? Where were they?" As you know, some of the leaders of the Zionist regime are in fact Iranians.

[...]

The life of this regime depended on military threat, military force, and the legend that it was invincible. Today, with God's grace, this false legend has collapsed, with the help of the young believers of Palestine, and thanks to the believing, self-sacrificing commanders of Hizbullah. Today, the Zionists do not feel secure even in their own homes, anywhere in the world.

Today, this community, which was gathered by force, and under false pretexts, and whose members were joined to one another by a paper-clip, in order to create a false illusion of a nation... Today, they have fallen apart. I declare here, loud and clear: With God's grace, this regime has lost the philosophy of its existence.

[...]

Watch your hands, Mamoud.

I said to them: If you do not agree, open the doors, open the gates, and allow these uninvited guests return to their countries. Let them return to their homeland. If the Western countries that support the Zionists feel sympathetic toward them, they should give them financial aid, so that they can live in their own countries.

[...]

We have some advice for the supporters of this regime. We say to them: First of all, do not seek a new crime. Every crime being perpetrated today, every youth who dies in Palestine today, every home that is demolished, and every incursion into the neighboring countries will be accredited to the supporters of this regime, and the nations will exact their revenge.

[…]

Our proposal is as follows: Since you brought [this regime] over there, you yourselves pick it up, by the arms and legs, and remove it from there. This will make the peoples of the region improve their attitude toward you. These will be the first steps to a long-lasting friendship with the peoples of the region. This will be to your advantage.

You may say: "We feel uncomfortable doing this, because the Zionists control our countries, the propaganda machinery is at their disposal, and if we want to gain voters, we need their money and their support. Therefore, we feel uncomfortable doing this."

Fine. We made you another proposal: Allow that which you advocate take place in Palestine. After all, you advocate democracy, and you claim that the peoples should control their own destiny. So let the Palestinian people decide upon its own path by means of a referendum. In response, you say: "We might lose our reputation." Our response is: You have no reputation left anyway! Where do you still have a reputation anywhere in the world?

In the recent war in Lebanon, you saw with your own eyes that the whole world was against you. Even in Argentina, where the Zionists devise conspiracies, generate strife, and put pressure on the Argentinean administration, the people took to the streets.

[...]

This [Zionist] regime is on the verge of death, and we advise you to start thinking about your long-term interests and long term relations with the peoples of the region. At the end of the day, these are all ultimatums. No-one should complain tomorrow. The things are stated clearly.

[...]

What is this Security Council anyway? The whole world knows that America and England are the enemies of the Iranian nation.

Crowd: Allah Akbar.

Allah Akbar.

Khamenei is the leader.

Death to those who oppose the rule of the jurisprudent

Death to America

Death to England

Death to the hypocrites and Saddam

Death to Israel

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: They have taken control of the leading positions in the Security Council, and have the right of veto, and they are prosecuting and judging us, and they want to carry out the verdict. Sir, this is the logic of pharaonic times. The days of this logic are over. The Security Council, in its present condition, is illegitimate. Its resolutions are illegitimate. Do you want to be the judges, the rulers, the prosecutors, and those who carry out the verdicts? These days are over. Nobody accepts this behavior of yours. Even the illiterate old women of the Himalayas will not accept this behavior of yours.

Wishing You Were Me.The islamofascists believe they defeated the what they once believed to be the invincible Israel in Lebanon. They are emboldened.

Ahmadinejad's proposal to Britain and the United States is to take Israel out of the Middle East in order to improve our relations with the Middle East. He then proposes that the West allow Palestine to determine their own destiny by destroying Israel.

He blames Israel for every bad thing that happens in the Middle East and of controling the world. He sees the failure of Israel to prevail in Lebanon as a sign from God that Israel is weakened and as he said, the world is against the West.

He then declares that Israel is on the verge of death and tells us clearly that these things are ultimatums.

He completely rejects the validity of the United Nations and any sanctions that are proposed.

There are those in the West who think we need to talk with Ahmadinejad and reason with him. How do you reason with an unreasonable man? With a meglamaniac actually.

Leaving Iraq would leave a vacuum there that Ahmadinejad would be more than happy to occupy. It is my belief he is already providing weapons for the insurgents. They are getting increasingly sophisticated weapons and al-Qaida operatives are coming there from all over the world.

The islamofascist are emboldened by the weak response of Israel to the invasions of hezbollah and hamas. They are emboldened by the media reports that the American people have turned against the war and are demanding the President pull troops out of Iraq. I have seen reports on islamic websites stating they expect American troops will be out of Iraq by the end of this year. They are celebrating the defeat of the Republicans in the upcoming elections and declaring victory over the mighty Amercian Army. They are emboldened.

They have been warning us, Osama bin Laden and Ahmadinejad, that they intend to destroy us. There has been a recent al-Qaida warning to Canada. Yet there are still those that refuse to hear the warnings and still insist on blaming the United States for their problems.

It's all part of Ahmadinejad's apocalyptic vision.

I think it's time we really listen to what our emeny is telling us.

Giving Down in Dearbornistan

The Islamic Center in Dearborn
DEARBORN, Michigan-- By the end of Ramadan last year, Najah Bazzy remembers having more than $10,000 in cash donations to distribute to the needy, and a vast auditorium ringed with tables groaning with enough free food for 400 poor families to celebrate the holiday.

This year, Bazzy formalized the good works she has been doing unofficially for a decade among the tens of thousands of Muslims who live in the Dearborn area by establishing a charity, Zaman International. But as the holiday arrived this year, charitable contributions plummeted. She said cash donations amounted to less than $4,000, and for the first time since she began her charity work she bought food to feed about 85 needy families instead of counting on gifts.

There are similar stories in Muslim communities across the country. Set off by the pervasive fear that donations to an Islamic charity could bring unwanted attention from federal agents looking into potential ties to terrorism, many people within Muslim American communities have become reluctant to donate to Islamic causes, including charities.

"The sad fact is that there are some Islamic charities involved in terrorist financing. We can't close our eyes to that," said Daniel L. Glaser, the deputy assistant secretary for terrorist financing and financial crimes. "We have to find ways to deal with that."

Imam Qazwini, the descendant of a long line of prominent Iraqi Shiite Muslim clerics, points out that many Muslim Americans, particularly those from the Arab world, fled the region to escape repressive regimes, expecting the United States to provide both freedom and opportunity. Instead they find themselves facing similar problems.

"Many people who came from the Middle East still live with the psyche of being chased by the intelligence forces," he said in an interview. "Having these same forces acting here intensifies the sense of fear in these communities."

"It seems like the terrorists have been able to touch our foundations-our civil liberties are being compromised, our religious freedoms are being compromised."

Regarding that last quote-You know who to thank then. I'm sure that CAIR and the ACLU are looking into some religious freedom lawsuit they can file on their behalf. Wait... did I say CAIR, ACLU, and religious freedom in the same sentence. There must not be a Jew or a Christian involved.

Pakistan Destroys al-Qaida Site

Pakistan Army takes out an al-Qaida training center:

KHAR, Pakistan - Pakistani troops backed by missile-firing helicopters destroyed a purported al-Qaida-linked training facility in a northwestern tribal area near the Afghan border Monday, officials said. At least 20 people were killed.

The pre-dawn attack targeted a religious school, or madrassa, holding 70-80 militants in Chingai village near Khar, the main town in the Bajur tribal district, said army spokesman Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan.

The bodies of 20 tribesmen killed in the attack were lined in a field near the madrassa before an impromptu burial attended by thousands of locals, according to an Associated Press reporter at the scene.

Sultan said the attack targeted terrorists training at the al-Qaida-linked facility, but local leaders said those killed in the raid were innocent civilians.

Among the dead was Liaquat Hussain, a local Islamic cleric who ran the madrassa and is believed to have been sheltering al-Qaida militants, locals said. Several of his aides also died, they said.

The attack came two days after 5,000 pro-Taliban tribesmen held an anti-American rally in the Bajur area near Damadola, a village close to the site of an alleged U.S. missile attack that killed several al-Qaida members and civilians in January.

"We received confirmed intelligence reports that 70-80 militants were hiding in a madrassa used as a terrorist-training facility, which was destroyed by an army strike, led by helicopters," Sultan said.

Soldiers on the ground were counting the dead, Sultan said. He was unable to provide a preliminary estimate of the casualty count, but said that "many" militants had been killed.

Pakistan shows they are on the right side. However with all the tribal ties and the usual "religious sensitivities" I'm surprised this mission even went off. As for the "civilians' involved. Do the math! 20 dead, 20 tribesmen in a terrorist training facility. What we know is these people have no problem hiding among women and children. The probablility is that the 20 were tribesmen by day...terrorists by night.

**UPDATE**-HotAir.com is reporting that Al-Qaida top bananastan, Zawahiri was the target. Faqir Mohammed, an al-Zawahiri deputy was on the scene before or during the raid. I wonder if he was trying to pass as an innocent tribesman too.

What's In the Bag?

By Bassam Darwich
October 25, 2006

Waiting for my wife to come out from the fitting room in a department store, I chatted with a man doing the same while watching his little boy playing on the floor in front of the room entrance. We talked about how little children can find joy playing with anything they see around them, whether it is a piece of crumpled paper or a little insect walking on the floor.

All of a sudden, a terrified scream came out from the little boy’s mouth as he then ran toward his father, jumped on his lap and hid his head between his arms.

He certainly was right to be frightened, as it probably was the very first time in his life he encountered such a weird creature that just came out of the fitting room. Frankly, had I not seen this creature myself before, I would have also felt frightened observing it coming out from that room unexpectedly.

That terrifying creature was a Muslim woman - and please don't ask how I guessed she was Muslim – fat, huge and wearing black from top to bottom, showing nothing of her body, hands, feet, or even her eyes which were covered with dark glasses. She came out very quickly and walked away like a huge black bag rolling on the ground with the help of hidden wheels.

It was perfectly reasonable for the boy to cry. And if he had a little dog with him, the dog might have also run away scarred, or possibly given her chase, grabbing her from her leg or robe tail in defense of his master.

*************

I really cannot fathom from whom this woman is afraid of if her face were shown. I don't think people in this country care to stare at other people’s faces. They don't even bother looking at naked bellies and breasts showing up from open chests.

I felt sorry for not having my camera to provide my readers a picture of this creature. I smiled; however, as I thought that I can take a picture of any other Muslim woman wearing the Niqab (the complete cover) and pretend it was hers. Who could after all tell the difference between one big black bag and another as long as no one knows who is inside either one!

Frankly, I don't care what this woman chooses to wear or not to wear. It is her right if she so desires to live her entire life in this bag, or to never get out of it to see the sunshine and smell the roses. It is her decision to live deprived of her rights as a free human being and not as a concubine. But, because the way she is dressed can affect me in a way, I cannot close my eyes and ignore this phenomenon. I have a good reason to believe that this sort of costume can be a threat to me in many ways; therefore, it is my absolute right to call upon the authorities to protect me from it.

First of all, I see in this sort of garment a real danger to the security of my country. There are many Muslim terrorists wanted for justice with their pictures all over internet web sites, post offices, government agencies, schools, stores, and other places. These pictures are there so that we, as citizens, can help in apprehending them. In fact, we have a moral obligation in making citizen's arrest - if it is in our ability to do so – when we find such a terrorist! There are also many other criminals wanted for justice, like thieves, bank robbers, rapists, smugglers, etc. How would I know as a citizen that this huge walking black bag is not hiding one of those criminals? How can I feel safe seeing such a bag next to me, while I am standing in line in a bank, or waiting for my kids in front of the school, or shopping in a store?

Secondly, I seriously believe that such a dress can be a direct danger to me and my family. How can I tell if the person inside this bag is a man or a woman? Any person can dress as such and goes inside the women's fitting room where my wife or daughter might be. No one will stop him fearing litigation for religious and ethnic discrimination!

Thirdly, it is well known that shoplifting affects everyone and not only business owners. Business owners always add the cost of shopliftings to the price of the items we buy. Consequently, we end up paying for it. How would the business owners know that these dresses are not used by professional thieves!

Finally, how can I feel safe while walking on any street, not knowing if inside such a bag, some sort of criminal is pointing a gun at me or others? How would I know that this is not a bomb walking on two legs!

This Niqab is used by some female prostitutes in Islamic countries, so that they can move from one place to another without being bothered by anyone. A wife or a daughter can even be going to meet her man under the eyes of her husband or father without him knowing who is inside the bag. It certainly is their business, and I don't give a damn about it as long as they wear it in their countries. But here, in my country, I believe this weird dress is imposing on my security, and therefore, I call upon the authorities to protect me by banning its use in public places.

Al-Qaeda warns Canada

Hat tip to Clarity and Resolve:

OTTAWA - An al-Qaeda strategist has warned Canada to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan or face terrorist attacks similar to 9/11, Madrid and the London transit bombings.

The threat, attributed to a member of the al-Qaeda information and strategy committee, condemns Prime Minister Stephen Harper for refusing to pull out of Afghanistan.

It also refers to Canada's "fanatic adherence to Christianity" as well as its purported attempts to "damage the Muslims" and its support for the "Christian Crusade" against al-Qaeda.

"Despite the strong, increasing opposition to spread its forces in the fire of South Afghanistan, it seems that they will not learn the lesson easily," Hossam Abdul Raouf writes.

"They will either be forced to withdraw their forces or face an operation similar to New York, Madrid, London and their sisters, with the help of Allah."

Why is Canada a target? The video in this post explains things perfectly.As Patrick at C&R says, "Friendship with the great Satan has its advantages." I agree when he says, "I don't care what any partisan jerks say, Canada and America are the best of friends."

I also agree with the the Canadian soldier who says, "They're definitely going to wonder who the Canadians are from here on oot, that's for sure." You betcha!

DoD calls out the MSM

The DoD calls out the New York Times.

October 27, 2006: The U.S. Department of Defense is now taking its requests for corrections public through a website known as For the Record. Here, the Department of Defense is openly calling for corrections from major media outlets, and even noting when they refuse to publish letters to the editor.

The most recent was this past Tuesday, when the DOD published a letter, that the New York Times refused to run, which contained quotes from five generals (former CENTCOM commander Tommy Franks, current CENTCOM commander John Abizaid, MNF Commander George Casey, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Richard Myers, as well as his successor, Peter Pace) that rebutted a New York Times editorial. This has been picked up by a number of bloggers who have been able to spread the Pentagon's rebuttal – and the efforts of the New York Times to sweep it under the rug – across the country.

The Defense Department has been dealing with a number of misleading stories. From Newsweek's misreporting of a Koran-flushing incident (caused by a detainee, not guards as reported by Newsweek), to claims of prisoner mistreatment (often without context, including one instance where a detainee spat on an interrogator), to a massive rewriting of an embedded reporter's report on the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment's efforts in Tal Afar, by editors of Time magazine, to the revelations about NSA efforts, the DOD has been barraged by numerous stories, many of which were followed by angry editorials.

The DOD is pushing back, not only putting out requests to correct the record
(with the refusals published as well), but also citing stories of heroes that the media has failed to cover – usually two or three a week. Among these are accounts of those who have been awarded medals for battlefield bravery, like Navy Cross recipients Robert J. Mitchell Jr. and Bradley A. Kasal, as well as Silver Star recipients Juan M. Rubio, Sarun Sar, Jeremy Church, and Leigh Ann Hester. The DOD has also followed CENTCOM's lead in running pieces on what terrorists actually say – another item largely ignored by the mainstream media.

The Department of Defense is acting in an effort to avoid a repeat of the aftermath of the 1968 Tet Offensive. On the battlefield, American and South Vietnamese forces won a victory – effectively destroying the Viet Cong and crippling North Vietnamese forces in South Vietnam. However, media misreporting, including Walter Cronkite's famous mischaracterization of the war as a "stalemate", took away the victory that had been won on the battlefield. Such a scenario is less likely now, largely due to the presence of the internet (including blogs), talk radio, and other news networks – and the Department of Defense is taking advantage of alternative ways to get around the mainstream media. – Harold C. Hutchison (haroldc.hutchison@gmail.com)

The media has waged a war on the United States and has actively participated in promoting the propoganda put out by enemies of the United States.

It's about time the DoD fought back.

A conversation with a Muslim in Pakistan

I recently had a chat with muslim from Pakistan. Here are a few segments of our conversation. I think this is very revealing especially since this guy is probably considered a "moderate" Muslim.

First I pointed out a Hadith to him and asked for his reaction:

(10:42:33 PM) ME: Narrated Abu Qilaba: Anas said, "Some people of 'Ukl or 'Uraina tribe came to Medina and its climate did not suit them. So the Prophet ordered them to go to the herd of (Milch) camels and to drink their milk and urine (as a medicine). So they went as directed and after they became healthy, they killed the shepherd of the Prophet and drove away all the camels. The news reached the Prophet early in the morning and he sent (men) in their pursuit and they were captured and brought at noon. He then ordered to cut their hands and feet (and it was done), and their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron, They were put in 'Al-Harra' and when they asked for water, no water was given to them." Abu Qilaba said, "Those people committed theft and murder, became infidels after embracing Islam and fought against Allah and His Apostle ."

(10:43:20 PM) ME: Bukhari book 4 hadith 234
(10:43:27 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: i am not sure is this is true hadis or not
(10:43:35 PM) ME: yes
(10:43:47 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: but urine is used as medicine now a days in many medicine
(10:45:12 PM) ME: camel urine? I did not know this
(10:45:22 PM) ME: I wasnt talking about that though
(10:45:31 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: yea it is used in medicine
(10:46:04 PM) ME: I was talking about what the prophet did to this man
(10:46:48 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: i am not sure that this is true or not i am hearing this first time
(10:46:58 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: but it is true that his hand should be cut off
(10:47:03 PM) PAKISTAN MUSLIM: he was thief

This just shows that unlike Christians and Jews they take everything literally and that it is met for all time nothing is taken as historical. So he agrees this mans hand should be cut off and he also says camel urine is used in medicine???? I am unaware of this. I tried to research this but I find no evidence. Anyone in the medical field aware of this please let me know. Now on to the next part of the conversation. This time I ask him about the killing of someone that converts from Islam to another religion.

(10:47:43 PM) ME: Narrated 'Ikrima: Some Zanadiqa (atheists) were brought to 'Ali and he burnt them. The news of this event, reached Ibn 'Abbas who said, "If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah's Apostle forbade it, saying, 'Do not punish anybody with Allah's punishment (fire).' I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah's Apostle, 'Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.'"
(10:48:04 PM) ME: whoever converts from Islam to another religion kill them?
(10:48:13 PM) ME: maybe this is the way things should be?

This conversation tells alot. He seemed at first to be in denial that Islam would approve killing an apostate. Then he realized there was no denying the passages I had put forth. Either that or he wanted to try to act like a "moderate" to me and realized that he couldnt any longer. Whatever the case he believes that anyone who converts from Islam to another religion can rightfully be killed.

Al-Qaeda most wanted operative killed in Pakistan

Another one bites the dust.

ISLAMABAD: An Al-Qaeda operative wanted in connection with 1998 US Embassy bombings has been killed in Pakistan.

According to a private channel, Mohsin Mousa Motwali Attwa, most wanted by FBI was killed in April in North Waziristan during an airstrike by Pakistani forces near the border with Afghanistan.

Attwa, 42 Egyptian was indicted in connection with Al-Qaeeda suicide bombings of US Embassies in Nairobi, Kenya and Darus Salam Tanzania. The attacks killed 224 people including 12 Americans.

It has been officially confirmed in Islamabad that a leading Al-Qaeeda member was killed in an army operation in the frontier region of Pakistan.

On the other hand, CIA has also confirmed the killing of an Al-Qaeeda operative involved in the bombings at the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in an encounter with security forces of the country.

Meanwhile American CIA has said that after the formal DNA test it has been established that Attwa had died in an encounter with the Pakistani Security forces in North Waziristan early this year, after which the FBI has deleted his name and photo posted on its website of most wanted people.

Gulf ships on alert over al-Qaeda threat

The Royal Navy has warned merchant ships in the Gulf to be on their guard after an al-Qaeda threat to target oil terminals in the area.

Coalition naval forces in the area have been put on watch for possible terror threats to oil facilities in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, officials said.

A Royal Navy official said the threat had resulted in increased security and vigilance at Saudi Arabia's Ras Tanura terminal, as well as at a refinery in Bahrain. But oil exports were proceeding as normal, he said.

The Royal Navy, part of the Italian-led Coalition Task Force 152 that patrols international waters off the Ras Tanura terminal, sent an e-mail yesterday warning merchant shipping in the region of Bahrain and eastern Saudi Arabia to be alert for suspicious vessels or activity.

The US navy's 5th fleet, based in Bahrain, said it was aware of the British warning.

The British official said coalition ships were sticking to international waters and had not been invited to patrol inside Saudi Arabia's territorial waters near the terminal.

"The Saudis are very protective of their patch," the British official in Dubai said. He described the patrols as normal naval operations that had been under way since 2002, though on a heightened state of alert for the past month.

This is, in part, a response to a videotaped message from al-Qaida's deputy leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was released on the 5th anniversary of 9/11.

In the video the terrorist leader warned the Persian Gulf region and Israel would be the group's next targets. He also accused Western powers of stealing what he called Muslim oil.

US State Department spokesman Sean McCormack says the United States is ready to help Saudi Arabia fight threats from terrorist groups.

"There have been calls by al-Qaida to attack Saudi oil facilities in the recent past," he said. "These are not new. You go back in the record you can see these threats previously. We will do everything that we can, if there is a request for assistance, both in general terms or specific terms to assist the Saudi government."

McCormack declined to discuss specific threats to Saudi facilities or whether the United States has received any requests to defend them.

I doubt if the British has not recieved a request to defend the Saudis and Bahrain, niether has the US. But we always seem to be ready to defend our allies. That's just the way we are.

Dad stands trial over daughter's mutilation

A father stands accused of the unthinkable: brutally cutting his daughter's genitals.

The girl was only 2.

Monday, activists from all over the world will be focused on a Gwinnett County courtroom as Khalid Adem, accused of cruelty to a child and aggravated battery for allegedly circumcising his daughter, goes on trial.

Adem, 30, was charged with aggravated battery and cruelty to children more than three years ago and, if convicted, could face 40 years in prison. He was born in Ethiopia, where circumcision is a common procedure for young girls.

Adem's trial may be a landmark case for health and human rights activists fighting against the African custom they call genital mutilation. But for those close to the victim, this trial is about vindication and healing for a little girl who was forced to endure unbearable pain.SOURCE

This seems to be practiced among Muslims in Egypt,Ethipoia,Malaysia,Indonesia just to name a few. Many Muslims claim there is know justification for this in the Quran or the Hadiths. They are almost correct. It is mentioned once in a Hadith by Ahmad ibn Hanbal which says "Circumcision is a law for men and a preservation of honour for women." (5:75)" There is no other mention of this. But to alot of Muslims that is all it takes. One mention of something and it is taken literally. They do not take things in to consideration as being something historical as Jews and Christians do. Everything is Literal and met for all time. Until this stops we will always have jihad.

Paris Burning - Again!

Paris BurningParis is burning again. Or is it still?

French 'youth' (that's code for muslim immigrants) burned buses on the eve of the anniversary of the riots of October 2005. Apparently, even after the rioting of last year, these muslim youth still feel disenchantment.
Youths forced passengers off three buses and set them on fire overnight in suburban Paris, raising tensions Thursday ahead of the first anniversary of the riots that engulfed France's rundown, heavily immigrant neighborhoods. [source]

Actually, No Pasaran reports there were 4 buses hijacked and burned.

About 10 'youth' hijacked one bus with pistols, forcing passengers off the bus and then torching it. WAIT JUST A MINUTE! I thought guns were outlawed in France. So how did they get guns?

The French government responded with something along the effect of 'somebody ought to do something'.

Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin said the events "should lead to an immediate response."

"We cannot accept the unacceptable," he told reporters in the northern suburb of Cergy-Pontoise. "There will be arrests. ... That is our responsibility."

Villepin also said efforts should be directed to "revitalize" troubled neighborhoods, and repeated the government's insistence that authorities rid France of "lawless zones" where youth gangs operate.

The transportation authority responded that they would avoid 'sensitive' neighborhoods.

These weak and ineffective responses have not had any effect on the disillusionment of the 'youth' who keep burning and rioting in France - except that this year they are burning buses instead of cars.

The muslim community is calling for more understanding and acceptance. They are saying that it's probably not okay to keep burning things, but if that's what it takes to get what they want ......

Appeasement and denial haven't gotten the French very far as yet. Maybe if they keep trying it'll eventually work.

Plus & Ultra says there's no cause for alarm....

Was Ramadan A Peaceful time?

Feast at the end of Ramadan
Despite the fact many muslims want to tell us Ramadan is a time of "peace" The Quran says otherwise:

"The count of months, as far as God is concerned, is twelve.* This has been God's law, since the day He created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred. This is the perfect religion; you shall not wrong your souls (by fighting) during the Sacred Months. However, you may declare all-out war against the idol worshipers (even during the Sacred Months), when they declare all-out war against you, and know that God is on the side of the righteous." Quran 9:36

How does a Muslim explain this?

Apparently it seems many Muslims are aware the Quran allows them to continue jihad even during Ramadan:

Violence Up During Ramadan

>Insurgent and sectarian attacks in the Iraqi capital have shot up during Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting and atonement, according to U.S. military statistics released Thursday.

Since the beginning of the holiday nearly three weeks ago, the number of violent incidents has averaged 36 a day. That compares with about 28 a day since mid-June, when U.S. and Iraqi security forces began a high-profile security crackdown aimed at stemming the violence between Sunni Arabs and Shiite Muslims.

Al-Qaeda Ensures a Violent Ramadan in Iraq

>On October 15 the Muslim month of Ramadan kicked off with a crop of attacks, justifying Iraqi fears that the traditional holy month of fasting and prayer has been transformed into a harbinger of violence. On that day a powerful car bomb exploded in Baghdad near an Iraqi police station, wounding 10 police and civilians. As if to underscore the religious struggle this was followed a day later by a string of attacks on the minority Christian community with blasts at churches around Baghdad. Both of these were soon eclipsed by a sustained mortar attack on an Iraqi National Guard headquarters north of Baghdad, leaving a total of over 100 killed or injured. The tone for Ramadan was duly set.

And then you have Europe trying to be "sensitive" to the Muslims during Ramadan:

Police anger over ban on arrests during Ramadan

Manchester Police have been told not to arrest Muslims at prayer times during the holy month of Ramadan. The order is said to have angered a number of officers in the Greater Manchester force.

An internal email listing prayer times has been sent to officers who have been asked not to execute arrest warrants during prayer times for reasons of religious sensitivity.

Vladhimmi Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ended months of speculation and finally enrolled in the Dhimmi Club. Surprising for a man, who in the past has lashed out with great vengeance and furious anger at Chechnyan terrorists who misbehaved in his own backyard. Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov hinted to Russian news agencies that Russia would oppose a draft of a UN Security Council Resolution aimed at imposing sanctions against the Iranians. Lavrov said:

"Our goal is to eliminate the risks of sensitive technologies getting into the hands of Iran until the IAEA clarifies issues of interest to it, while maintaining all possible channels of communication with Iran. And it seems to me that, in this context, the draft resolution clearly does not correspond to those tasks agreed on by the six sides."

Earlier this week, the Europeans had proposed imposing sanctions which would ban the sale of missile and atomic technology to Iran. The sanctions would also impose limits the Russian built power plant.

Russia is protecting its financial interests. They have contracted to build Iran's first nuclear power station for a price of 1 billion dollars. The head of the state company that is building the reactor said today that it will be completed as scheduled by September 2007. Just last month, the Russians agreed to supply fuel to the plant starting in March of next year.

Russia has always sided with the Arabs against the West. Since the establishment of the State of Israel, Russia has armed the neighboring Arab nations to the teeth. Most of the Israeli fatalities in the Lebanon War were caused by Russian made weapons. At least that was a rational decision to strengthen Soviet influence in the region while simultaneously weakening Western interests. Iran however, is a step too far. Putin is willing, for financial reward, to strengthen today's ally at the cost of creating tomorrow's enemy. Russia's Moslem population is growing in leaps and bounds. When Iran is ready to bite, they would have many willing collaborators in and on the Russian border. Then, a billion dollars will feel like chump change to him.

Head of Irish government confirms terrorists are in Ireland

From Slugger O'Toole:

Bertie Ahren confirms Jihadist presence in Ireland--

Not that he had much choice in the matter, since RTÉ had already obtained documents dating from 2003, under the US Freedom of Information Act, from the US State Department revealing that "up to six Islamist groups have had cells operating in Ireland." and that the information was based on intelligence gathered by gardaí.

Asked if any "foreign terrorist groups" had a presence in Ireland, the embassy named the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, Al-Gama'at al-Islamiyah, the Algerian Armed Islamic Group, al-Qaeda, and "possibly Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad".

Asked to describe the presence, the embassy said there are "operational support, logistical and financial cells located in Ireland". Asked if there are "any ethnic or religious communities in the country that are sympathetic to these groups", the embassy said yes. Asked if there had been any anti-American demonstrations in Ireland over the previous 12 months, the embassy said yes, and estimated the average size of a protest at between "30 to 300 people".

Meanwhile, the embassy also told the US state department that there were "suspect non-governmental organisations in the country that have a relationship" with some of the groups.

One could have guessed this being so close in proximity to England and France. as one of Slugger's commentors put it "Where there is a Muslim there is a terrorist eh?" Not neccesarily in the same room, but you get the picture.

Muslim leader blames women for sex attacks

Hello Kitty!Mullahs gone wild! This is not a joke...it is a RAMADAN sermon by an Aussie top cleric!

Australia--The nation's most senior Muslim cleric has blamed immodestly dressed women who don't wear Islamic headdress for being preyed on by men and likened them to abandoned "meat" that attracts voracious animals.

In a Ramadan sermon that has outraged Muslim women leaders, Sydney-based Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali also alluded to the infamous Sydney gang rapes, suggesting the attackers were not entirely to blame.

While not specifically referring to the rapes, brutal attacks on four women for which a group of young Lebanese men received long jail sentences, Sheik Hilali said there were women who "sway suggestively" and wore make-up and immodest dress ... "and then you get a judge without mercy (rahma) and gives you 65 years".

"But the problem, but the problem all began with who?" he asked.

The leader of the 2000 rapes in Sydney's southwest, Bilal Skaf, a Muslim, was initially sentenced to 55 years' jail, but later had the sentence reduced on appeal.

In the religious address on adultery to about 500 worshippers in Sydney last month, Sheik Hilali said: "If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it ... whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat?

"The uncovered meat is the problem."

The sheik then said: "If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab, no problem would have occurred."

He said women were "weapons" used by "Satan" to control men.

"It is said in the state of zina (adultery), the responsibility falls 90 per cent of the time on the woman. Why? Because she possesses the weapon of enticement (igraa)."

Hmmm...I had this same discussion with a fundamentalist Christian friend over the question of thongs at the beach.

Uncovered meat, indeed.

Somehow I don't think this is exactly the same thing as it is not likely that the thong wearer would get raped, TRIED, AND HANGED for brandishing the "weapons of enticement".

MSM: Mostly Sordid Media

The MSM has developed a nasty habit of turning fiction into fact; victim into culprit. The total disregard for facts that do not suit their political agenda has become their hallmark. The bias is so great that there is no hesitation to print a contradictory piece and then draw some sordid conclusion.

Today I bring you the NY Times Editorial titled "The Wrong Partner in Israel". The point of the article is that it is wrong for Israeli PM Olmert to welcome a far right wing party into his government. The Times views it as a threat to the "peace process". As if there is one. I quote;

American and European diplomats have been arguing that the one positive result of the Lebanon war could be new momentum toward a wider Middle East peace. The idea was that a new awareness of the limits of Israeli military power and growing Arab fears of Shiite radicalism would push both sides toward the necessary compromises.

Fact: Arabs are not willing to join forces with Israel to fight the Shiites. They have taken the bait from the MSM that terror cannot be beaten, and withdrawal is the answer. The West's pipe dream that "moderate" Arab nations would actually unite against the Shiite terror is nothing more than that. The anti-American/Israeli rhetoric is at a feverish pitch which has never seen before. The Lebanon war has distanced any chance of a real deal taking place.

That now seems less likely than ever. The chief Palestinian party, Hamas, refuses to take the most minimal steps required for diplomatic credibility-a clear rejection of terrorism, acceptance of prior agreements and acknowledgment of Israel’s legitimacy. Efforts by the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, to bring Hamas around have not gotten as much support as they should from Israel. With Israel Beiteinu joining Mr. Olmert’s coalition, they are likely to get even less.

Fact: Bringing a right wing party into the Government does not lessen the chance of a peace deal when the enemy is sworn to destruction. There is no chance of a peace deal with Hamas. What the new government could accomplish is to toughen Israel's stance and cause an implosion in Gaza. However, with Olmert at the helm, it's not very likely.

Creating new obstacles to peace with the Palestinians is the last thing Israel needs after the Lebanon fiasco.

As if Israeli politics is the obstacle. Is Hamas willing to recognize Israel? Is Hamas willing to renounce terror? Is Hamas willing to honor previously signed agreements? No, no and no. The obstacle is Islamic terror and their obsession with the destruction of Israel. The Times warns that Israel would create an obstacle in the same breath that they claim Hamas is no partner. Which one is it?

The MSM's obsession with appeasement is a bankrupt policy, a suicidal agenda. It has never worked and never will. Appeasement is weakness. I end with a quote from George Washington:

"There is nothing so likely to produce peace as to be well prepared to meet the enemy."

Iraqi PM says ready to tackle militias

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's prime minister pledged on Wednesday to crack down on illegal militias after coming under pressure from Washington to take steps to curb violence and allow U.S. troops to go home.

But in a sign of challenges Iraqi leaders face in achieving "benchmarks" agreed with an impatient U.S. administration before congressional elections next month, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki was the object of fresh anger after an overnight raid by U.S. and Iraqi forces killed at least four people and wounded 20 in the Shi'ite stronghold of Sadr City in Baghdad.

The U.S. military said Iraqi special forces backed by U.S. airstrikes conducted the raid "to capture a top illegal armed group commander directing widespread death squad activity."

A relaxed-looking Maliki told a news conference he would deal with the militias: "The state is the only one that has the right to carry weapons," he said. "We will deal with anybody who is outside the law.

"Everyone now realizes that the existence of armed groups and militias harms the stability and unity of the state."

Maliki has struggled to balance the conflicting demands of his Shi'ite-led coalition government. Sectarian and militia violence has escalated, raising fears of a full-scale civil war.

Six months after Maliki took office, with vital support from Shi'ite cleric and militia leader Moqtada al-Sadr, he has made little headway on pledges to curb activity by militias.

Less than two weeks before the November 7 U.S. congressional elections that have put President George W. Bush's Republicans on the defensive over their Iraq strategy, ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and the military commander in Baghdad said on Tuesday success was still possible, and on a "realistic timetable."

Khalilzad said Iraqi leaders had agreed to a timetable of political and security measures and he expected "significant progress" on the steps in the next 12 months.

In the meantime, an opinion piece in WAPO titled "Insult to Injury in Iraq" by Frederick W. Kagan complains that the US wants the Iraqi government to take a larger role in governing...[?]

Such arguments have been latent in the Bush administration's Iraq strategy and explicit in Democratic critiques of that strategy for some time. Now Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has declared: "It's their country. . . . They're going to have to govern it, they're going to have to provide security for it, and they're going to have to do it sooner rather than later."

...The current crisis in Iraq is no more just an Iraqi problem than it has ever been. The U.S. military destroyed Iraq's government and all institutions able to keep civil order. It designated itself an "occupying force," thereby accepting the responsibility to restore and maintain such order. And yet U.S. Central Command never actually made establishing order and security a priority. Its commander throughout the insurgency, Gen. John Abizaid, has instead repeatedly declared that America's role is primarily to train Iraqi forces to put down their own rebellion and maintain order.

What destroyed government is Mr. Kagan refering to? Sadaam Hussein's? I imagine he would rather have a mass murderer's government puppets stayed in place to maintain "order and security"?

I think Frederick Kagan has missed the point. The US was always there to assist in establishing a new and free government in Iraq, with the intention of handing over power, at the right time. Perhaps Mr. Kagan's watch, along with most of the American left, is running a little fast.

A Veiled Threat

The culture clash between Islam and the West has been front and center for many years. The recent niqab, or full face veil incidents seem to have brought the issue to a head. An English teaching assistant was recently fired for refusing to remove her niqab when in the presence of men. A Michigan judge threw out the case of a woman who refused to remove her niqab while testifying in court.

Naturally, what followed were claims of racism, discrimination and suppression of freedom of religion. As usual, the Moslem voice had no time to take into account the rules or norms of the society in which they are living. We must tolerate them while they are forbidden to tolerate us. This precedent was smartly summed up by Mike's America; "By tolerating the intolerance of Muslims, so we don't offend them, we've allowed them to set the terms for the discussion."

I bring to you Anne Applebaum from today's Washington Post:

Critics call the veil a symbol of female oppression or rejection of Western values. Defenders say that it is a symbol of religious faith and that it allows women to be "free" in a different sense -- free from cosmetics, from fashion and from unwanted male attention. Debate about the veil inevitably leads to discussions of female emancipation, religious freedom and the assimilation, or lack thereof, of Muslim communities in the West.

And yet, at a much simpler level, surely it is also true that the full-faced veil -- the niqab, burqa or chador -- causes such deep reactions in the West not so much because of its political or religious symbolism but because it is extremely impolite. Just as it is considered rude to enter a Balinese temple wearing shorts, so, too, is it considered rude, in a Western country, to hide one's face. We wear masks when we want to frighten, when we are in mourning or when we want to conceal our identities. To a Western child -- or even an adult -- a woman clad from head to toe in black looks like a ghost. Thieves and actors hide their faces in the West; honest people look you straight in the eye.

If Western tourists can wear sarongs in Balinese temples to show respect for the locals, so too can religious Muslim women show respect for the children they teach and the customers they serve by leaving their head scarves on, but removing their full-faced veils.

Many years ago my father taught me that one person's rights end where the next person's nose begins. Freedom of religion is not a sweeping exemption from compliance with the laws or established culture of a given society. No one is forcing this woman to be a teacher. She is not being forced to be in a situation which would compromise her religious beliefs. She must adapt to the society that she has chosen to live in. She must double check, and be damned sure where my nose begins. With every passing day, incidents like these are going unchecked. Many have come to accept that the Moslems are different and must be catered to for lack of offending them. It's time to put this practie to bed. Can you spell dhimmi?

Hezbollah Linked to Bomb Scare At US Embassy In Venezuela

Seems that Venezuelan police busted a student in Caracas, after he planted two pipe bombs near the US embassy.

Of course, there were kids at an adjacent school. AND, just in case anyone had any doubt it was connected to Hezbollah, both pipe bombs were wrapped in plastic bags, with fliers promoting Hezbollah literature.

The kid that did it went to Bolivarian University, a state run school started by Hugo Chavez.

Click here for the whole enlightening and instructive article.

The above symbol is taken from a Venezuelan Islamist forum.

And of course, our borders remain wide open, so that terrorists with Venezuelan passports can cross any time they want to.

Judge Refuses to Hear Testimony of Veiled Muslim

CAIR-MI: VEIL COSTS HER CLAIM IN COURT

Ginnnah Muhammad of Detroit criticized Hamtramck Judge Paul Paruk: "I didn't feel like the court recognized me as a person that needed justice."

Ginnnah Muhammad of Detroit was looking for her day in court.

Instead, she said she felt as if a judge forced her to choose between her case and her religion in a small-claims dispute in Hamtramck District Court.

A devout Muslim, she wore a niqab -- a scarf and veil to cover her face and head except for her eyes -- Oct. 11 as she contested a rental car company's charging her $2,750 to repair a vehicle after thieves broke into it.

Judge Paul Paruk said he needed to see her face to judge her truthfulness and gave Muhammad, 42, a choice: take off the veil when testifying or the case would be dismissed. She kept the veil on.

"I just feel so sad," Muhammad said last week. "I feel that the court is there for justice for us. I didn't feel like the court recognized me as a person that needed justice. I just feel I can't trust the court."

The wearing of a niqab has spurred increasing debate, particularly in Europe. In 2004, France banned the wearing of it and other religious symbols in public schools.

This month, former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, still a member of parliament, ignited a fierce debate over the niqab by suggesting that Muslim women in his district remove their veils when they visit his office. He said it would improve communication, calling the veil "a visible statement of separation and of difference."

It has sparked controversy in the United States as well. A Muslim woman from Florida unsuccessfully went to court in an effort to overturn the state's order in 2001 that she reveal her face for her driver's license photo.[--huh?]

In metro Detroit, which has one of the country's largest Muslim populations, a small minority of Muslim women -- primarily those of Yemeni descent -- wear the niqab, said Dawud Walid, executive director of the Michigan branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. . .

Walid said Paruk still violated Muhammad's civil rights.

"Although a niqab is donned by a minority of Muslim females, it is still a bona fide religious practice," he said.

Watch for our friends at CAIR to bring the hijab/niqab controversy to YOUR doorstep. Poor Muhammed should have obeyed the court. I say "Welcome to America--time to assimilate". Yes this is America where we judge people by the look on their face while we are shaking their hand and not by the symbols of their religion.

To Hijab, Or Not To Hijab ...

I tend to agree with Jack Straw on the subject of hijabs and niqabs.

Here's what Paul Cruikshank of the NYT's wrote about it:

On the streets of London and other cities in Britain, an incongruous sight has become increasingly common: young Muslim women covered from head to toe in black robes, including the niqab, a veilthat obscures the face except for the eyes.

The niqab sets these young women off not just from most passers-by, but even from Muslim women who choose to wear the simple headscarf, or hijab, which covers only the hair and neck. And it is causing discomfort even in multicultural Britain.

When Jack Straw, the former foreign secretary, declared earlier this month that the niqab made positive relations between Muslims and non-Muslims more difficult because it was "such a visible statement of separation and difference," he struck a chord with many British voters, only 22 percent of whom think that Muslims have done enough to fit into mainstream society

Cruikshank goes on to explain how younger women wear the hijab in order to protest their parent's assimilation into the British culture.

That sense of besiegement, not wardrobe decisions, is fueling the real problem that British politicians should be addressing, which is the creeping fundamentalism and Islamist radicalism of a significant portion of Britain's Islamic youth. In a recent poll, more than a quarter of British Muslims under the age of 24 said that the July 7, 2005, attacks on the London Underground were justified because of British foreign policy. Thousands of young British Muslims have been influenced by fundamentalist organizations like Hizb ut-Tahrir and militant groups like Al Muhajiroun.

These are the groups that have persuaded some Muslim girls that it is their religious duty to adopt the niqab. Kemal Helbawy, the influential founder of the Muslim Association of Britain, says that a very different message is coming out of the country's mainstream mosques, where most imams advise their congregations that the hijab is sufficient.

He goes on to write how British Muslims need to be brought into the political process. But, I don't know how that's going to be done without more assimilation. The niqab and hijab are actually just the tip of the iceberg.

There's another thing that occurs to me about the Hijab, and other Muslim covering: Muslim women are supposed to wear them so that men will not be tempted. It's actually kind of an insult to Muslim men; here in the West, we expect our men to control themselves, and we have legal recourse if they don't.

Man Charged with Smoking and Drinking During Ramadan

A BAHRAINI man was arrested after he was seen smoking and drinking alcohol in his car during Ramadan fasting hours in Manama, it was revealed yesterday.

Police spotted the man smoking as he was driving his car, said a Public Prosecution spokesman.

The defendant was asked to stop and when the officer searched the car, he found an open bottle of alcohol hidden under his seat, he said.

The medical examination of alcohol count in his blood was negative, he added.

The man was released on BD50 bail, after being charged with eating and drinking during Ramadan.

An alcohol count of negative? And he's still charged? Not with smoking and drinking but EATING and drinking. And yet UK police can't arrest someone WITH AN ARREST WARRANT at prayer time? Such mixed priorities...I'm confused. But not much.

Dirty Bowl Sunday

Well, today's the day we will see if Al-Qaeda is taking it's cues from a Wisconsin grocery clerk.

An FBI official in Washington, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the case is still under investigation, told The Associated Press that the man acknowledged posting the phony stadium threat as part of a "writing duel" with a man from the Brownsville, Texas, area to see who could post the scariest threat.

Okaaaaaay! Brilliant literary move.

I found this video at Hotair.com. This may be closer to the truth. Anyone placing bets?

US Envoy: 'Arrogance,' 'Stupidity' In Iraq

(AP) A senior U.S. diplomat said the United States had shown "arrogance" and "stupidity" in Iraq but was now ready to talk with any group except Al Qaeda in Iraq to facilitate national reconciliation.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera television aired late Saturday, Alberto Fernandez, director of public diplomacy in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the State Department offered an unusually candid assessment of America's war in Iraq.

"We tried to do our best but I think there is much room for criticism because, undoubtedly, there was arrogance and there was stupidity from the United States in Iraq," he said.

Alberto Fernandez made the remarks during an interview with Arabic television station al-Jazeera.

The state department says Mr Fernandez was quoted incorrectly - but BBC Arabic language experts say Mr Fernandez did indeed use the words.

Well well...is there any suprize this is coming from Al-Jazeera? There has been mistakes in Iraq but one should choose their words wisely when speaking to the enemy, to avoid providing comfort...

FURY OVER RAMADAN ARREST BAN

A ROW has broken out after police officers were told not to serve arrest warrants at prayer times during Ramadan.

Cops were emailed a timetable of the Muslim holy month - which ends tomorrow - and told to observe its "religious significance".

But one angry officer said: "I wonder if we'll extend the same courtesy to all other religions.

"We seem to have given up on policing the streets in favour of politically correct soundbites."

The answer to the angry officer is "NO"! But that won't stop the PC crowd in Britain or the US. An appearance of sensitivity and respect allows a criminal to pray freely in society, when we have gone to great lengths to afford them (muslims only) the courtesy to pray 5 times a day in jail.

Ahmadinejad Delivers Jihad Ultimatum To Europe

“This is an ultimatum. Don’t complain tomorrow.” These are the words of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Europe today.

As the Security Council session to determine the sanctioned fate of the Islamic Republic looms, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad used the occasion of al-Qods Day (Jerusalem Day) to rally the Muslim world and openly threaten Europe. Rather than directly condemn European nations such as Britain, France and Germany for supporting sanctions over the Iranian nuclear program, Ahmadinejad instead used the al-Qods Day event to condemn them before a broader Muslim audience for their support of the state of Israel. He openly threatened European states, saying that their continued support of Israel would soon hurt them.

Argued Ahmadinejad, “You should believe that this regime (Israel) cannot last and has no more benefit to you. What benefit have you got in supporting this regime, except the hatred of the nations?” He went on to send Europe an unveiled threat, saying, “We have advised the Europeans that the Americans are far away, but you are the neighbors of the nations in this region. We inform you that the nations are like an ocean that is welling up, and if a storm begins, the dimensions will not stay limited to Palestine, and you may get hurt.” It was in a speech on al-Qods Day last year that Ahmadinejad declared that Israel should be “wiped from the map.”

On Glenn Beck this week, President Tom, as Beck likes to call Ahmadinejad, was quoted, speaking from his religious beliefs, of bringing the "pure man of peace", the hidden Immam, about in his presidency. It was a segment about scriptural prophecy and the end times from a more or less Christian perspective. If Christians don't believe they are living the "end times" our sworn enemies seem to. You do know who the one who brings war and says, "Peace, Peace" is in Christian literature, don't you? Yes, the Antichrist. Perhaps we are speaking the same language here after all.

US Border: Less Than A Line In The Sand

You'll find Hugo Chavez towards the end of the newly released Congressional Report on border (in)security. Click here for "A Line In The Sand," PDF warning..

Oliver North writes
:
"...the bombshell -- as reported by Lajeunesse and confirmed in the congressional report -- is the role being played by Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez. It's well known that the oil-rich Marxist in Caracas has been busy spreading his anti-American "Bolivarian Revolution" throughout our southern hemisphere. But this investigation now concludes that Chavez's nefarious deeds go well beyond a weapons-buying spree and efforts to manipulate elections in Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua.

According to the congressional report, "Venezuela is providing support --including identity documents -- that could prove useful to radical Islamic groups The Venezuelan government has issued thousands of cedulas, the equivalent of Social Security cards, to people from places such as Cuba, Colombia and Middle Eastern nations that host foreign terrorist organizations." These documents can be used to obtain Venezuelan passports and American visas, which in turn allow the holder to elude immigration checks and enter the United States ..."
Indeed.

Gustav Colonel of Venezuela Today
wrote about Hezbollah training camps, and subsequent forced conversion of the native population to Islam, back on Sept. 2nd. As a matter of fact, here's a link to the internet website set up by Hezbollah in Venezuela.

Here are some not very comforting numbers: According to the Border Patrol cited in the new congressional report, OTM's (other than Mexican) illegal immigrants crossing the border since 2001 has increased from 30,147 in 2001 to 108, 025 in 2006. These are not all humble, honest illegal immigrants who are dying to mow your lawn for cheap. DHS has reported a 41% increase in "Special Interest Aliens" along the southern Texas border alone.

Nor are those numbers just a cheap workforce -- it's an army, or at least it could be.

Add these facts to the puzzle: 1) Some OTM's come via Venezuela, or are at least facilitated by Chavez. 2) Chavez has been spending his oil money to acquire weapons, and has recently made a deal with Putin to set up an AK-47 factory in Venezuela (although that is probably of more concern to his neighbors, and those inside his country that disagree with him politically). 3) Chavez' new best bud, Ahmadinejad is developing nuclear technology, and since the Iranians already run a couple of refineries for Chavez, it's not out of the question that there will be a deal to share nuclear technology.

Meanwhile, the circus continues at the UN. John Bolton, and Mexico, have called upon Chavez to withdraw. I doubt that he will until after the Venezuelan elections are over in December.

Finally, check out this article from the Persian Journal. It's a little loopy, but I can't help but agree with Scott Sullivan's conclusion that the US state department is working against US foreign policy interests.

Folks working against US domestic security interests include US politicians of all stripes, who continue to tap-dance around the border issue, in hopes of capturing the holy grail full of Hispanic votes.

(T/F) This Is Security ...

Just for fun, let's try to guess which of the statements is true and which is false. (Hint - Elimination by logic will be neither accepted nor necessary):

1) Al Quada has threatened to set off dirty bombs in seven American stadiums this weekend.
2) The ACLU has just succeeded in making contraband searches illegal at NFL stadiums.
3) College football stadiums have excellent security.
4) High school football stadiums are most secure in Texas because high school marching band moms tend to be better armed there.

Answer: The first two are true. I don't know about number three, and can't comment on #4.

For extra points, write in your own words why the threats aren't credible. "Because I said so" doesn't count, but extrapolation is okay. Use all the theoretical models you can think of.

For more extra points: Pretend like something actually did happen this weekend. Estimate how much taxpayer money will be spent in Congressional investigations aimed at proving it was Bush's fault all along. (Hint - you may count as high as you know how to, then round up to the nearest hundred million.)

Jets address NFL Threat

Ok I haven't covered the NFL Stadium threat because I had heard early on that it was "not credible".

So I thought I'd let the Jets speak on this one.

After an extremist website made a dirty bomb threat on seven NFL stadiums, including the Meadowlands, for this Sunday, the Jets issued the following statement:

“The Department of Homeland Security has advised the NFL that a threat against several stadiums is not credible. Nonetheless, we remain vigilant against any security threat. Working in conjunction with NFL Security, the NJSEA and local authorities, we will continue to observe the comprehensive security procedures we have in place on game days, including secure facility perimeters, pat-downs, and bag searches.”

Update the threat came from a defunct website in the midst of a "Truther" thread ...Not an extremist site.

7/7 Is Just The Beginning

We've been covering alot of things out of Britain this week. As mentioned in previous comments, they seem to be under "an all out social assault."

Intelligence chiefs in Britain are saying that Al-Qaida has successfully regrouped it's organization in Pakistan and the UK is it's new main target.

More worrying, officials say, is evidence of new techniques that would-be terrorists within the UK have adopted. The structure of individual al-Qaida-inspired groups is much more like the old Provisional IRA cells, with self-contained units comprising a lead organiser/planner, a quartermaster in charge of weapons and explosives acquisition and training, and several volunteers.

Officials describe these groups as "multi-tasking" - involved in fraud and fundraising and courier work as well as planning attacks. "There is a hierarchy within each cell with a very tightly run command and control," said one counter-terrorism source.

Many suspects appear to be aware they are under surveillance and have taken to having important conversations outside - in parks and other public spaces - similar to the tactics used by PIRA leaders during the Troubles.

Intelligence experts fear the UK is a target as never before, with extremists intent on carrying out a huge spectacular, on the scale of the US atrocities in 2001.

"They viewed 7/7 as just the beginning," said one senior source. "Al-Qaida sees the UK as a massive opportunity to cause loss of life and embarrassment to the authorities." A second source agreed: "Britain is sitting at the receiving end of an al-Qaida campaign."

Britain is an easier target, they have concluded, because of its traditional links with Pakistan which is visited by tens of thousands of people each year. Intelligence agencies have found it very difficult to penetrate the camps there.

The article goes on to talk about recruiting taking place in the UK and Pakistan. The best and most disturbing quote comes at the end:

They say there is a frightening number of young men willing to step up and replace those who have been arrested or gone to ground.

"It's like the old game of Space Invaders," said one senior counter-terrorism source. "When you clear one screen of potential attackers, another simply appears to take its place."

Heh! Space Invaders...No double meaning there...

Anti-terror laws under fire after two terrorists escape

Why house arrests for terror suspects may not be such a good idea.

LONDON • Britain’s anti-terrorism legislation came under renewed fire yesterday as a row over two international terrorist suspects who have gone on the run intensified.

Opposition parties and pressure groups said that the escape of the pair, reportedly a Briton of Pakistani descent and an Iraqi, highlighted that the control orders to which they were subject were dangerous and unfair.

Control orders are a loose kind of house arrest which usually compel suspects to report regularly to police and place them under a curfew, although critics say suspects should instead be charged and face a trial. But Home Office minister Tony McNulty hinted on Monday that the government may go in a different direction and diverge from the European Convention on Human Rights to tighten up the regime using existing legislation.

“We’ve got scope... to look at derogating orders that actually step away from the European Convention on Human Rights. That remains an option and we keep these things under review,” he told BBC television.

The Home Office has not made public any details of the escapes, but the BBC reported on its website that one of the fugitives was a British man of Pakistani descent suspected of wanting to go to Iraq and fight against the United States and British-led coalition there.

He is 25 and escaped from the mental health unit of a hospital in south-west London in the last few weeks, Britain’s Press Association (PA) reported. The other man is Iraqi and is thought to have been missing for some months, the BBC online said.

Did he say they may diverge from the European Convention on Human Rights to tighten things up? Go Britain! Someone needs to shows these terrorists some gonads. Trust me if the Democrats win a majority in the US election in November, we will not have any gonads to show.

Meanwhile some civil liberties gobbledegook-

Shami Chakrabarti, director of civil liberties campaign group Liberty, said the two escapes confirmed that control orders were “unsafe and fundamentally unfair”.

“If someone is truly a dangerous terror suspect, why would you leave them at large?

“On the other hand, it is completely cruel and unfair to label someone a terrorist and to subject them to a range of punishments for years on end without ever charging them or putting them on trial,” she said.

Well make up my mind, will ya? Are they dangerous enough to detain or not?

Blair sides with Straw on Muslim Veil Concerns

veilBritish Prime Minister Tony Blair made statements concerning the uproar Jack Straw ignited when he stated earlier in the month that the muslim veil was a 'sign of seperation' from the larger community of Britain.
Tony Blair has said the wearing of full face veils by Muslim women is a "mark of separation" and made some "outside the community feel uncomfortable".

The prime minister also backed Kirklees Council, which suspended classroom assistant Aishah Azmi for refusing to remove her full face veil at school. [BBC]

Predictably, the woman's lawyer is outraged.

Tony BlairMr. Blair suggested that muslims should find a way to come to terms with Western society if they chose to live here. That, of course, is in complete opposition to the demands of the muslim community, which is that Western society change it's rules to accomodate them.

Oh, and he suggests that regardless of how difficult the issues are, we need to confront them! That's refreshing considering so many people hope it'll all just go away if we ignore it!
"Difficult though these issues are, I think they have to be raised and confronted and dealt with," he said.

"And then, there's a second issue, which is about Islam itself and how Islam comes to terms with - and is comfortable with - the modern world."

Video of the news conference and Tony Blair's is at Hot Air.

I've always liked Tony Blair's courage. Regardless of the political consequences, he speaks his mind. He knows the muslim community will seperate and destroy Britain, and Europe, if the West remains silent.

Unfortunately, there does seem to be a divide occuring in Europe over submitting to dhimmitude or facing the continuous outrage of the muslim immigrants whenever a Westerner acts like a Westerner.

My personal belief is that in the end we (the descendants of the Viking raiders) will not allow ourselves to be dominated. That blood does still flow in our veins, regardless of how civilized we want to think we are.

I just don't know what it will take for us to call back on that old DNA and start hitting back. I suppose we'll find out.

Stay tuned.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Prime Minister Romano Prodi agrees with Blair and Straw.
Prime Minister Romano Prodi said on Tuesday that Muslim immigrant women should not be completely "hidden" behind full veils if they want to integrate and become part of Italy's future.
Since coming to power in May, Italy's centre-left leader has responded to a huge influx of arrivals from Africa by seeking European Union help to patrol the Mediterranean while trying to make it quicker for those already in Italy to become citizens. (Reuters)
Feeling Sorry for The Traitor Lynne Stewart
Judge Koeltl said the reason he gave such a light sentence to The Traitor Lynne Stewart was because he felt sorry for her.
This is how the main stream media presented The Traitor Lynne Stewart before her sentencing:
Poor Lynne Stewart
A broken, pathethic grandmother who had just survived breast cancer (coincidentially during breast cancer awareness month). She had just used poor judgement and had a 'soft heart' and all she did was try to help a fellow 'human being'.
This is The Traitor Lynne Stewart after her sentencing:
Defiant Lynne Stewart
Defiant, anti-American, radical left socialist who says she doesn't really think what she did was wrong, it's just unfortunate 9/11 happened after she helped the terrorists, otherwise, people wouldn't have been that upset with her.
The people I feel sorry for are the victims of her crimes against our country. Do we remember them?
It's time to QUIT feeling SORRY for people who are enemies of the United States of America and start pulling together for the survival of our country.
I agree with Linda who had a much better suggestion about proper sentencing for a traitor.
Too bad we don't hang traitors anymore.
ACLU Express Outrage As Bush Signs Terror Interrogation Into Law
Crossposted from
Stop The ACLU
So Bush signs the bill into law that will allow terrorists to be interrogated harshly, as they should be, and allow many top Al Qaeda agents to be brought to justice through military tribunals. "It is a rare occasion when a president can sign a bill that he knows will save American lives," Bush said.
President Bush signed legislation Tuesday authorizing tough interrogation of terror suspects and smoothing the way for trials before military commissions, calling it a "vital tool" in the war against terrorism.
Bush's plan for treatment of the terror suspects became law just six weeks after he acknowledged that the CIA had been secretly interrogating suspected terrorists overseas and pressed Congress to quickly give authority to try them in military commissions.
"With the bill I'm about to sign, the men our intelligence officials believe orchestrated the murder of nearly 3,000 innocent people will face justice," Bush said.
With this the ACLU are having a good old-fashioned moonbat hissy fit, calling it one of the worst civil liberties measures ever enacted in American history.
To highlight concerns with the act, the ACLU took out a full page advertisement in today's Washington Post, calling itself "the most conservative organization in America." Since its founding, the ACLU has fought to conserve the system of checks and balances and defend the Bill of Rights.
I must admit this was pretty clever of the ACLU to call itself the most conservative organization in America. It is good to see they at least have a sense of humor about things. However, the rest of the ACLU's whining about "torture" such as shirt grabbing of terrorist scum to get critical info is more along the lines of the ACLU we know and love to hate.
The following can be attributed to Anthony D. Romero, ACLU Executive Director:
"With his signature, President Bush enacts a law that is both unconstitutional and un-American. This president will be remembered as the one who undercut the hallmark of habeas in the name of the war on terror. Nothing separates America more from our enemies than our commitment to fairness and the rule of law, but the bill signed today is an historic break because it turns Guantánamo Bay and other U.S. facilities into legal no-man's-lands.
"The president can now - with the approval of Congress - indefinitely hold people without charge, take away protections against horrific abuse, put people on trial based on hearsay evidence, authorize trials that can sentence people to death based on testimony literally beaten out of witnesses, and slam shut the courthouse door for habeas petitions. Nothing could be further from the American values we all hold in our hearts than the Military Commissions Act."
Pirate's Cove has an excellent rant:
Yet again, the ACLU proves that they do not understand who the Constitution applies to. A hint for them: it applies to Americans and those applying for citizenship, not foreigners caught fighting in Afghanistan wearing no uniform who would be happy to cut American heads off with rusty saws.
Nance Pelosi, the presumptive next Speaker of the House, shows that Braying Asses do not get the War On Terror:
"Democrats want terrorists who kill Americans tried, convicted and punished through a constitutionally sound process that will be upheld on appeal. That goal will not be achieved by the bill President Bush signed into law today."
In other words, given house arrest and aroma therapy.
Also, it is funny how many Moonbats think things like this apply to them. Have they renounced their US citizenship, and gone to fight against the US on a battlefield?
Once again the ACLU think they are the ones to define "American Values". Thank God that isn't true. The tough interrogation techniques which were revealed to include things such as belly slaps, loud music, and shirt grabbing are far from torture and have proven to be vital tools in getting information from top terror leaders. The ACLU's outrage that its prospects for enemy combatant future plaintiffs has been cut is what it really comes down to. People caught on the battlefields have no reason to tie up the American courts. This bill is a much needed tool in our fight against Islamofacist fanatics, and will no doubt result in saving American lives. But if its good for America, you can count on the ACLU to be against it.
Bush hosts dinner marking end of Ramadan
WASHINGTON — President Bush marked the end of the daily fast during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan Monday night by honoring Muslims living in the United States and Islamic nations that are helping in the war on terror.
"You know that the majority of the victims of the terrorists have been innocent Muslims, and many of you have seen terrorist violence in your own cities and your streets," Bush said. "We are proud to work with you to defeat the terrorists and extremists, and help bring a brighter future to millions of Muslim people throughout the world who yearn for moderation and peace."
Dinner included spiced carrot soup, halibut, tomato salad and a pear souffle for dessert. The courses were listed on menus decorated with the crescent moon and star that symbolizes Islam.
Attendees included ambassadors from Islamic nations, administration officials and Muslim leaders in the United States. Among the guests this year were Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Imam Talal Eid of the Islamic Institute of Boston, who offered the blessing.
Also in attendance were military veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and New York City police officers and an EMT worker who responded to the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
Bush singled out paramedic Farooq Muhammed, a Muslim, a son of Pakistani immigrants and a native of Brooklyn who treated victims at the World Trade Center and recently traveled to Pakistan to help earthquake victims.
"Farooq's courage and compassion represent the best of the American spirit," Bush said.
Nothing requires the US President to acknowledge the existence of Ramadan. I wonder how many Muslim voices were raised in accord with GWB and how many were actually thinking "OBL"? Because of the silence of the "hidden moderates", we may never know...
Christian Pastor Executed in Indonesia
Sulawesi ProvinceRev. Irianto Kongkoli was shot twice in the back of the head while he was shopping in Palu, the capital of Central Sulawesi province of Indonesia.
A Christian priest has been shot dead on Indonesia's Sulawesi island, where religious tensions are high after the execution of three Catholic militants.
The Rev Irianto Kongkoli was shot in the head while shopping in Palu, the capital of Central Sulawesi province.
It was part of a wave of religious violence between 1999 and 2001 that left more than 1,000 people dead.
The Rev Kongkoli was buying construction materials at a shop when he was targeted, a spokesman for the provincial government's information bureau said.
"He had finished bargaining for some tiles when someone called him back into the store. When he entered, two shots were fired at the back of his head," Jethan Towakit told Reuters news agency.
PoliceRev. Kongkoli had been outspoken against the executions of three Christians last September. Indonesia is home of the largest number of muslims. There has been violence between Christians and Muslims there since 1998.
The reports of the violence in Indonesia refer to 'religious violence' and to fighting being Christian and muslim mobs or gangs. But with a couple of exceptions, the horrors that are reported are muslim against Christian. The incidents in which the violence was initiated by Christian groups, it was in retaliation for horrors like the beheading of young Christian girls walking to school.
Remember, about 19 million muslims in Indonesia support violent jihad against the West and Western interests.
Odd, the United States isn't in Indonesia but they are still having violent acts perpetrated by muslims. Since 1998. I don't think this is the fault of the United States.
This is more evidence that the jihad against the West is not just about us finding bin Laden. Doing away with bin Laden won't take care of this problem. This is why we are in Iraq, it is why it's a much bigger problem than one person or one terrorist cell.
This is why it's called the Global War on Terror.
Rusty Shackleford has a plan of action.
The Traitor Lynne Stewart Gets 28 MONTHS
Unbelievably, The Traitor Lynne Stewart was sentenced to 28 months in prison as opposed to the 30 years the prosecutors were asking for.
AP
NEW YORK - Civil rights lawyer Lynne Stewart was sentenced Monday to 28 months in prison on a terrorism charge for helping a client who plotted to blow up New York City landmarks communicate with his followers.
Stewart, 67, could have faced up to 30 years in prison. She smiled as the judge announced his decision to send her to prison for less than 2 1/2 years.
Both the Washington Post and the New York Times wrote sympathetic articles about her this morning. No surprise there.
The MSM is portraying her as contrite, although she does not express remorse for her actions against her country, but for how she testified. She says if she had said this or hadn't said that she might not have been convicted. She bemoans that she was not a better lawyer. She's contrite that some of her legal work was faulty.
“I still believe it was justifiable — but perhaps not in the way that I did it,” Ms. Stewart said.
A life-time radical left anti-government activist, The Traitor Lynne Stewart said she didn't think she had to work within the parameters of the law because she felt it was unconstitutional.
All she did was provide material assitance to terrorists plotting against the United States after their first attack on the World Trade Center in 1994. That's all. How was she supposed to know that they would attack the United States again. Yeah, they were plotting and planning to, but how was she to know they really would. Right? Her lawyer said there was no way she could have known they would succeed in an attack like September 11th, 2001. Yeah, right.
The Traitor Lynne Stewart says that people wouldn't have viewed her actions so harshly had it not been for 9/11. If the terrorists she was assisting in their plans to attack the United States, kill Americans and destroy landmarks within America had not been able to succeed with their plans, perhaps she wouldn't have been convicted. In other words, it's all about HER. 2,996 people died that day. Countless others have died or been injured in terror attacks and fighting since that day, and in the Traitor Lynne Stewart's mind, it's all about her.
Today a traitor got a slap on the wrist.
We are doomed.
Lynne Stewart
Here is a reminder of what she did.
Lemuel says it's sympathy for the devil. 'Cry me a fraking river. The hag did the crime now let her do the time.'
Much more at Something .... and Half of Something (who has led a campaign to write the judge in the case and kept us reminded of The Traitor's actions).
28 months. That's the price you pay when you conspire with terrorists against the United States of America. I'll be writing one last note to Judge Koeltl.
The Aleuts Make a Stand for Patriotism
From the National Association of Manufacturers:
It is by now well-known that in a deal brokered by former Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-MA) and current Rep. William Delahunt (D-MA), Venezuelan strongman, Castro ally and all-around thug Hugo Chavez agreed to sell 12 million gallons of discounted oil to low-income families in Massachusetts. This was great PR for Chavez as he tries to spread his "I'm not such a bad guy after all" income redistribution gospel around the world. Heck, even Charlie Rangel told him he wasn't welcome in his city any more after Chavez came to the UN and called the President "the devil." No matter.
Seeking to build on his successful Massachusetts model, Chavez apparently turned his gaze northward -- and westward -- and offered the same largess to the frigid Aleutian Pribilof Islands in Alaska. However, according to this AP story, he has been rebuffed by the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association. Says their leader:
"As a citizen of this country, you can have your own opinion of our president and our country. But I don't want a foreigner coming in here and bashing us. Even though we're in economically dire straits, it was the right choice to make."
Their principled stand and their patriotism should be saluted. This is not a theoretical battle -- this is personal and this is real. Cheap heating oil would be a godsend to these people. But apparently, it wasn't worth the price they'd have to pay in principles lost.
And, by the way, this won't make nearly enough news as the Massachusetts deal when it got done last year, although by any measure, it's a far better story. Joe Kennedy and Hugo Chavez were newsworthy. A bunch of poor and near-poor standing up for their country is not. Go figure.
If you get a moment, click here to drop the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association a note and say thanks.
Well said Pat!
Maybe this is why Chavez is trying to give away oil. And here.
Muslims and the Diversity Jihad
I am going to say this twice:
1) There is nothing wrong with schoolchildren making fun of foreigners.
2) There is nothing wrong with schoolchildren making fun of foreigners.
weinsheim GermanyAlthough I was born in Uzbekistan we lived in Weinsheim Germany for two years in an apartment building not too much different than the photo here before finally coming to Ellis Island in December of 1949. I was almost 5 years old and spoke only German when I entered kindergarten in the New York City public school system (PS 153).
My first encounter with an "American" child was someone who made fun of the way I spoke. I didn't start to whine or cry about it, but became determined to be more American than anyone else. I would learn to read and write American English with a vengeance. I was born with the name Benzion. The proper pronunciation is bent-see-yun. When my teacher couldn't pronounce my name correctly she asked if I would like to be called Bernie. I agreed, happy with the idea that I had an 'American' name. I ran home and told my mutter and vater mom and dad that my name was Bernie. And from that time on, for the next 57 years, my name has been Bernie. It was the best thing to happen to me.
Had the school system at that time been run by multiculturalists, I would probably have had no reason to learn English to the exclusion of anything else. I would have spent the next 57 years trying to get people to pronounce my given name correctly with my halting English. I would certainly be a failure like most people who have names like Shaniqwa or Umgawa and who were encouraged to think that any non-Western Culture is somehow worth the same as Western Civilization. It is not. Eastern religions, cultures, and civilizations may be interesting topics for academic studies, but certainly should not be considered as lifestyles for modern man. Indeed, female genital mutilation is still practiced by modern Africans, but it is a practice that is totally barbaric and without any redeeming medical value. So when I use the term "modern African" I mean a primitive, brutal, barely human culture.
We must bring back ridicule into our school system. Without ridicule, how are children to learn to assimilate? If children believe that the culture of their parents is just as important as the American way of life, what will make them become Americans? I have no problem with Columbus' or Saint Patrick's Day Parades, because those Italians or Irish are Americans first. You can have pride for your ancestors, but none of these groups demand America live under the laws of Italy or Ireland, to dress or worship as they do or you will be killed.
multicultural crosswalk signThere is nothing wrong with speaking Polish or Russian or Spanish at home; but in school, in our public buildings, on our government documents there should only be English. I do not want drivers taking tests in Swahili. Stop signs, road designations and speed limits in different languages will not make walking or driving safer.
Immigrants who come to America must accept the American way of Life. America should not adapt to immigrants. For example, imagine Muslims working as air traffic controllers and demanding that they be allowed to stop working so they can pray. Should we allow that? How about Muslims demanding that a factory assembly line stop so they can pray? Believe it or not DELL DHIMMI Computers capitulated to Somali Muslims to allow them to disrupt the manufacturing process; read 'Sheikdown' : The Islamisation of a corporation- CAIR intimidates Dell with civil rights suit - Muslims demand prayer on company grounds, Excerpt:
Psychological Jihad was being waged last week at the offices of Dell computers after Somali Muslim temporary workers walked off their jobs and claimed they were not being given prayer time. The situation was exploited by Islamist organisations such as the Council of American Islamic Relations, and the Human Rights Commission, who intimidated Dell into giving into the workers demands which included monetary benefits such as back salaries for time off additional undisclosed payments. It is highly symbolic that this 'Jihad by Da'wa ' is taking place at Dell, one of the world's leading computer firms ,owned by Michael Dell, one of the richest men in the country, who 'happens' to be Jewish. The fact that Dell dominates the computer market in Israel could be another reason why CAIR wants to portray them as 'anti Muslim' and threaten a boycott of their products.
The audacity of temporary workers demanding that their religious 'needs' be accommodated has nothing to do with freedom of religion or civil rights. It is an attempt to bring Islam into the American workplace under the guise of 'tolerance and diversity'. Even more alarming is that Dell has agreed to give employees training in the 'requirements' of Muslims. This training is simply an exercise in dhimmitude and a further attempt to push Islam by forcing workers to attend lessons about Islam, coyly referred to by CAIR as "additional training on religious accommodation policies and practices." No doubt CAIR will demand to send in "speakers" to 'train' Dell management and employees about 'how to be sensitive to the needs of Muslims' (aka dhimmitude).
seeing eye dogsLast month I wrote about Minnesota Somali Muslim cabbies who refused fares of those suspected of carrying alcohol. Now we hear of Muslim cabbies refusing blind passengers with guide dogs in Australia. Excerpt:
At least 20 dog-aided blind people have lodged discrimination complaints with the Victorian Taxi Directorate. Dozens more have voiced their anger.
And there have been several complaints that drivers refuse to allow passengers to carry sealed bottles of alcohol.
Victorian Taxi Association spokesman Neil Sach said the association had appealed to the mufti of Melbourne to give religious approval for Muslim cabbies to carry guide dogs.
More Dhimmitude:
September of 2003:
MN - A Minnesota freezer manufacturer settled a complaint alleging it failed to allow prayer times for its Muslim employees. The Somali Community Center in Minneapolis had filed the complaint on behalf of 165 workers at Electrolux Home Products in St. Cloud , Minn.
More than a year ago, Electrolux disciplined at least a dozen workers for using an "emergency break" for sunset prayers, one of the five daily prayers central to the Islamic faith. Sunrise and sunset prayers must be observed within a restricted period. Sunset prayers generally require five minutes.
Under the settlement, Electrolux agreed to allow the workers time for sunset prayer, provide a Somali translator on occasions when policies or procedures are discussed, give managers and supervisors diversity training, and donate money to a local Islamic center.
Somalis alleged discrimination at Cold Spring poultry plant, Excerpt:
The Associated Press
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2006
MINNEAPOLIS Nine Somali immigrants employees at poultry processor Gold'n Plump Poultry Inc. alleged in a federal lawsuit that they were discriminated against because of their race and their religion.
The group alleges that the St. Cloud-based company would not permit them short breaks during the day to pray. The Muslim faith, the lawsuit says, requires five prayers a day at times defined by position of the sun.
While the company did allow the employees to take limited numbers of restroom breaks, Khadija Jama alleged she was followed into the restroom by a supervisor to make sure that she did not pray there.
Somali Muslim terroristsPipeline News gives a great summary of the Somali situation in Minnesota - Are Minneapolis Taxi Fares Going To Support Al-Qaeda?, Excerpt:
Looking at the totality of the evidence in this matter a number of aspects stand out:
1. In general, American society has made a tremendous effort to accommodate tens of thousands of these Somali refugees and their perceived needs into the mainstream, offering them jobs suitable to their skill level along with housing, social welfare assistance and a cultural support structure.
2. For its part the federal government has expended hundreds of millions of dollars on plucking these people from East Africa, most likely rescuing them from early death. It has taken extraordinary steps to be understanding and accepting of the refugee's culture and religion.
3. Unfortunately, in large part many of these refugees seem to have less than total devotion to the idea of actually becoming Americans as distinct from Somalis who happen to be currently sojourning here.
4. In many cases American hospitality has been repaid with a refusal by the Somalis to integrate into the larger society that hosts them, bringing lawsuits and allying themselves with radical Islamist organizations.
5. In fact many Somali Americans seem be intent on reproducing nothing more than "little Mogadishus" wherever they have been resettled.
The track record of America's Somali refugees so far suggests that these people are largely unappreciative of the stunning commitment which has been made to them by the people of the United States.
We therefore strongly recommend that the U.S. Dept. of State reevaluate the entire refugee program as it applies to both to Somalia and also to other African Muslim countries.
curlicue.jpg
I think it is time Americans acknowledge the fact that Muslims cannot be employed in modern civilized countries. Giving diversity classes to the rest of us only teaches us how to bend our knees to the Great and Wonderful Islam.
America became great because Antonia Bagodonuts became Tony Bagodonuts, Xzhin Wang became Sam Wang, Iksander Patel became Alex Patel and so on. Hassan bin Abdul al-Bahwhad ibn Zarhawizir stays Hassan bin Abdul al-Bahwhad ibn Zarhawizir and has no intention of ever becoming American. Quite the opposite, his goal is for America to become Muslim.
Somali Muslim terrorists
It's time we stopped accepting anti-American immigrants. We are a melting pot not a quilt. A melting pot makes everyone the same. America has accepted more immigrants than any nation on Earth and we have been successful precisely because we have not accommodated our immigrants. The UK, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden and others have their Muslim riots precisely because they allowed their Muslim immigrants to remain different, to remain strangers in their lands. In those countries in fact, one cannot even refuse to study with them let alone ridicule them.
Ridicule throughout our history has been the great unifying force pressuring newcomers to become more like Americans. If we have to accept foreign cultures and practices, to accept diversity, then what will being an American mean? What will make us any different than Yugoslavia with its ethnically diverse cultures and its tragic consequences? Perhaps if 9/11 had occurred years earlier we might never have gone to the aid of Muslims in Kosovo. But we see anyway the Muslim gratitude for being one of the few nations to save their butts.
If we continue to accommodate Muslims, one day we will find that we will be unable to even host Olympic Games if they fall on a Muslim Holiday, despite the fact that Faithful Muslims are prohibited from attending such Western decadences anyway. Oops, I spoke too soon.
It seems she was to work on this project with 'Asian' students (that's PC code for muslim) and only one of the group spoke English. The group was supposed to discuss the project.
She went to speak to her teacher ….
I said 'I'm not being funny, but can I change groups because I can't understand them?' But she started shouting and screaming, saying 'It's racist, you're going to get done by the police'.'"
Codie said she went outside to calm down where another teacher found her and, after speaking to her class teacher, put her in isolation for the rest of the day.
UN To Vote on Venezuela VS Guatamala Today
The UN will vote today on whether Venezuela or Guatamala will be the new non-permanent member of the Security Council. Venezuela's chances are said to be better than US backed Guatamala. I tend to agree -- remember the clip on C-Span showing the clapping and cheering when Hugo called Bush the devil?
From MSNBC, an article from FT:
Venezuela mounted a final lobbying offensive at the weekend to win a temporary seat on the United Nations Security Council on Monday, in the face of fierce opposition from the US.
In the most hotly-contested Council race for a non-permanent seat since the start of the cold war, all 192 members of the UN's General Assembly are due to vote on Monday to fill the slot reserved for Latin America, which is soon to be vacated by Argentina...
Venezuela has a better chance than Guatemala of winning the necessary two-thirds of the secret ballot – 128 votes.
Venezuela is counting on support from several South American nations and many in the Caribbean, as well as most Arab countries, several in Africa, Russia and China.
Guatemala, is backed by Central American nations, most European countries, a few from Africa and Asia, and the US. Only a few weeks ago, a Venezuelan victory seemed assured ...
Mr Chaderton Matos said Venezuela had been working not only to win in the first round of voting but also to continue in the battle "until the end" if needed.
That raises the spectre of a diplomatic war of attrition not seen at the UN since 1979, when Cuba and Colombia endured 154 rounds of voting over three months before Mexico was chosen as a consensus candidate.
US officials say that Venezuela's "confrontational" style on the Council would undermine its efforts, for example, to put pressure on Iran over its nuclear programme. Mr Chávez sees Tehran as a close ally
But, it's not the inability of the Security Council to make a decision, or even the spectre of voting endlessly until the "correct" party wins. Nope, it's the US's fault, of course:
"If we want to talk about disruption of the Council we really do have to talk about the disruptive effect of the veto," said Ms Bennis (director of the New Internationalism Project at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington).
"The US believes that it can use that veto with impunity. That's the real disruption of the Council, not worries about bellicose speeches from Chávez.
However, AM Mora y Leon wrote yesterday that Chavez has an uphill battle:
Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez is losing his UN Security Council bid badly. Now Chile has come out and said it won’t vote for him, but will abstain through the first round. Socialist Chile was one Chavez insisted he had in the bag. Well, he no longer does. The UN goes to the vote tomorrow and will have the results around 12:00 p.m. Eastern, so this contest for the fate of the free world’s democracies versus the world’s worst tyrannies won’t be long.
I hope AM Mora y Leon is right -- and the good news is, he usually is.
What is seems to boil down to is the question "How crazy are they?"
It's a question that you can apply to any of a number of world leaders these days -- and the answer is not reassuring.
Dhimmitude for Dummies
From Brigitte Gabriel at ACT:
Dhimmitude for Dummies
By Victor Sharpe
Front Page Magazine
Ask one hundred people in the United States what a dhimmi is and perhaps two or three might know. In Western Europe the number would be slightly higher because of latent memories of battles fought against invading Moslem armies over hundreds of years.
In 732, Charles Martel led his Frankish forces at Tours to victory against an Islamic invasion of France, which nearly destroyed Christian Europe. Similarly, Islam was ousted from Spain in 1492 after an occupation of the Iberian Peninsula by the Moslems for hundreds of years. Sadly, the Spanish Christian monarchs, Isabella and Ferdinand, and the Portuguese a few years later, also expelled the Jewish community although the Jews had lived in Spain and Portugal for many centuries and had never posed a threat to either Moslem or Christian sovereignty.
In Italy, Islamic power was brought to an end when the heavy Turkish galleys were defeated by Venetian galleasses at the great naval battle of Lepanto in 1571. And the Moslem Ottoman power, which at its height again threatened all of Western Europe, was barely turned back at the gates of Vienna on 11 September 1683 by a coalition of European armies. Incidentally, could there be a connection between 9.11.1683 and 9.11.2001, or is it just coincidence?
These were four major defeats by Europe of Islamic attempts of conquest and subjugation set against a history of victorious Moslem invasions and conquests that had been the hallmark of Islam since its founding in the seventh century.
But what of the peoples and nations that fell under Islamic occupation? For them the story was one of forced conversions to Islam, slavery, death and the Islamic institution of dhimmitude.
This is the word that describes the parlous state of those who refused to convert to Islam and became the subjugated, non-Muslims who were forced to accept a restrictive and humiliating subordination to a superior Islamic power and live as second class citizens in order to avoid enslavement or death. These peoples and populations were known as dhimmis, and if such a status was not humiliating enough, a special tax or tribute, called the jizya, was imposed upon them and upon all dhimmis.
Dhimmitude is the direct outcome of jihad, which is the military conquest of non-Islamic territory mandated by Allah as a spiritual obligation for every individual Moslem and Moslem nation.
From its beginnings in the seventh century, Islam spread through violent conquest of non-Moslem lands. In the eighth century, a formal set of rules to govern relationships between Moslems and non-Moslems was created based upon Moslem conquests of non-Moslem peoples. These rules were based upon jihad, which established how the Moslems would treat the conquered non-Moslems in terms of their submission to Islam.
Jihad can be pursued through force or other means such as propaganda, writing, or subversion against the perceived enemy. The so-called enemies are those who oppose the establishment of Islamic law or its spread, mission, or sovereignty over them and their land.
Propaganda and subversion are the very means now being employed against the West and Judeo-Christian civilization, and Islamists have shown themselves to be brilliantly adept at manipulating the gullible and uninformed western media in pursuit of their aims of world domination.
As I have written in previous articles, non-Islamic lands are considered the dar al-harb, the "house of war," until they submit to Islamic rule and enter the dar al-Islam. The 'infidel' falls into three categories: those who resist Islam with force, those living in a country that has a temporary truce with Islam, and those who have surrendered to Islam by exchanging land for peace.
Since the Oslo Accords, successive Israeli governments have been guilty of the now thoroughly discredited notion of "land for peace" in which Israel gives away land but never receives peace. Even the peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan are cold at best and the lands given away to Lebanon and the Arab Palestinians has been a calamitous error. The belief that Moslem Arab powers respond to overtures of peace by ending their aggression is but a mirage in the desert. This is proven time and again to be a delusion and is, in fact, a classic example of the mindset and behavior of the dhimmi.
A non-Moslem community forced to accept dhimmitude is condemned to live in a system that will only protect it from jihad if it is subservient to the Moslem master. In return, it is guaranteed limited rights under a system of discriminations that it must accept, or face forced conversion, slavery, or death.
In the early years of the Islamic conquests, the "tribute" or jizya was paid as a yearly poll tax, which symbolized the subordination of the dhimmi. Later, the inferior status of Jews and Christians was reinforced through a series of regulations that governed the behavior of the dhimmi. Jews and Christians were awarded a different status than other faiths. They were considered to be under protection as "people of the book." People of non-monotheistic faiths, pagans, or atheists were simply to be exterminated.
According to Mitchell G. Bard, who has written extensively on the subject and produced the excellent rebuttal to Arab and pro-Arab propaganda in his book, Myths and Facts, "... dhimmis, on pain of death, were forbidden to mock or criticize the Koran, Islam or Muhammad, to proselytize among Moslems or to touch a Moslem woman (though a Moslem man could take a non-Moslem as a wife).
"Dhimmis were excluded from public office and armed service, and were forbidden to bear arms. They were not allowed to ride horses or camels, to build synagogues or churches taller than mosques, to construct houses higher than those of Muslims or to drink wine in public. They were not allowed to pray or mourn in loud voices as that might offend the Moslems.
"The dhimmi had to show public deference toward Moslems, always yielding them the center of the road. The dhimmi was not allowed to give evidence in court against a Moslem, and his oath was unacceptable in an Islamic court. To defend himself the dhimmi would have to purchase Moslem witnesses at great expense. This left the dhimmi with little legal recourse when harmed by a Moslem.
"Dhimmis were also forced to wear distinctive clothing. In the ninth century, for example, Baghdad's Caliph al-Mutawakkil designated a yellow badge for Jews, setting a precedent that would be followed centuries later."
By the twentieth century, the status of the dhimmi in Moslem lands had not significantly improved. H.E.W. Young, British Vice-Consul in Mosul, wrote in 1909:
"The attitude of the Muslims toward the Christians and the Jews is that of a master towards slaves, whom he treats with a certain lordly tolerance so long as they keep their place. Any sign of pretension to equality is promptly repressed."
The concept of jihad is not something now discarded by Islam as a quaint belief appropriate to the distant past. On the contrary, it is a cardinal belief in the 21st century for Moslems based upon Koranic injunctions. It is believed in by millions of Moslems around the Third world, as much as by Moslems living in America, Britain, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. It is a belief, passionately held, that one day the entire world will become Islamic and accept completely the will of Allah.
It is vital, therefore, that the general public in every non-Moslem country be made aware that Moslems consider themselves in a perpetual state of war with their non-Moslem neighbors. If Islamic armies are unable to defeat what they consider the "infidels," (that's you and me), then a period of "truce" exists, which has several conditions. These include allowing Islam to be propagated, and if a non-Moslem nation forbids it or rejects mass proselytizing to Islam, then that nation will be considered as subject to holy jihad.
Sheikh Zayman al-Zawahiri, Al Qaida's second in command, recently invited America to embrace Islam. The invitation is always given, according to some experts, prior to a major assault upon the "infidel nation," because any rejection is considered by Moslems as an empirical reason to wage war upon the non-Moslem state; in this case the United States of America.
It is nearly impossible for sophisticated and secularized Western and European elites to understand or accept such medieval concepts, let alone the idea that a religious war is being waged against them. But their dismissal and amused disregard of what is taking place is as calamitous as that exemplified by the myopic politicians in Britain and America before the Second World War.
The lone voice in the wilderness at that time, Winston Churchill, appealed in vain to the political leaders who had not the ears to hear or the eyes to see the growing fascist menace during the 1930s posed by Germany and Italy. He called one such British politician an "epileptic corpse," and reached back through his prodigious memory to find a poem, which characterized the failure of the Baldwin government in 1935 to re-arm. The apt poem was, The Clattering Train, which could equally be applied to the later appeasement of Hitler by Neville Chamberlain and Lord Halifax.
"Those in charge of the clattering train, the axles creak and the couplings strain.
The pace is hot and the points are near and sleep has deadened the driver's air.
The signals flash in the night in vain, for death is in charge of the clattering train."
Western notions of peaceful co-existence between states, human rights and liberal democracy are all alien to the bin-Ladens and Zawahiris of the Islamic world. Hizbullah, Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hamas, Al Qaida, ad nauseum, all reject Judeo-Christian civilization as being in theological error. For them, the entire human race must embrace Allah's pre-eminence and the Moslem believer is the divine instrument to bring about the "Umma" (worldwide Moslem community) in whatever way possible, including warfare and terror.
Jihad has reappeared as a way of wiping out the humiliation the Arab and Moslem world has felt as Western power became ascendant, especially after the defeat of the Ottoman Turkish Empire at the end of the First World War.
With a fabulous and never ending flow of petrodollars pouring into Arab and Moslem coffers, the belief among Moslems is that the time is now right for Islam to reassert itself in dominating the world and bringing it to Allah through all out war, including nuclear war, if necessary.
The corollary to jihad is dhimmitude. This is what appeasement by non-Moslems to Islamist threats and terror leads to. Winston Churchill would have been shocked but not surprised at the craven appeasement displayed by today's elitists in the European political echelons.
It is in marked contrast to the manner in which their ancestors confronted an earlier existential Islamic threat when they defeated decisively the Moslems at Tours, Iberia (Spain and Portugal), Lepanto and Vienna.
But without a similarly decisive defeat of present day Islamist aggression and Islamo-fascism we may all be faced, sooner than we think, with the choice of forced conversion to Islam or subservience and wretchedness as dhimmis.
Better, therefore, for us all to be aware of the facts and not also be dummies.
Muslim Clerics Reaching Out To The Pope
From Random Thoughts @The Religion Of Peace:
This is almost more than we can stomach. Twice now we've come across the news headline "Muslim Clerics Reach Out to the Pope" to describe an open letter by 38 Muslim scholars to Benedict XVI in response to his suggestion that Islam has a violent history. One would think that the pope is a lonely or deeply disturbed man, needing the company of others to set him straight in his ways as these scholars are so graciously doing.
In fact, the letter was sent the day after Muslims in Iraq beheaded a Priest after holding him and torturing him for two days because they were angry at the Pope's words. They not only cut off his head, but his other limbs as well. There is no mention of this in the letter. Perhaps it occurred too late for the scholars to incorporate it into their text. Fair enough.
But wait! There is no mention of the Catholic nun who was gunned down at a children's hospital by a disgruntled Muslim nearly a month earlier or the other Christians who were killed around the same time. As a matter of fact, there is no mention at all of any of the brutal acts of violence that the Islamic religion pours out on the world each and every day.
Instead, the letter is a study in narcissism, trumpeting the virtues of Islam while blatantly failing to apologize for or even acknowledge its crimes past or present.
This is the reality of the Muslim world today. It is deeply self-consumed and emotionally immature, so willing to blame anyone but itself for the smallest of problems by which it is affected, while pathologically incapable of taking responsibility for the horror that it inflicts on others.
Yes, there is a dialogue that desperately needs to take place, but it is within Islam itself.
Yes Indeed! Self-consumed and emotionally immature. So Allah and Mohammed trump all other prophets and expressions of God? Even to the condesending (and murdering) of all other religious leaders? I guess that's ok in their view. Remember this?
Anjem Choudary said, "The Muslims take their religion very seriously and non-Muslims must appreciate that and that must also understand that there may be serious consequences if you insult Islam and the prophet.
"Whoever insults the message of Mohammed is going to be subject to capital punishment."
He added: "I am here have a peaceful demonstration. But there may be people in Italy or other parts of the world who would carry that out.
"I think that warning needs to be understood by all people who want to insult Islam and want to insult the prophet of Islam."
As well as placards attacking the Pope such as "Pope go to Hell", his followers outside the country's principal Roman Catholic church also waved slogans aimed at offending the sentiments of Christians such as "Jesus is the slave of Allah".
Suppose we just say Death to the Mullahs (scopes be upon them) for insulting religion in general! They are so easily insulted that the joke is now not will they be insulted but with what?
Muslim teacher defends her veil
Click for video
A Muslim support teacher suspended for wearing a veil in class said it was never a problem for her pupils.
Headfield Church of England Junior School, in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, said pupils found it hard to understand her during English language lessons.
But Aishah Azmi, 23, said: "They never complained." She added she was willing to take the veil off in class, but not in front of any male colleagues.
Ms Azmi was suspended pending the outcome of an employment tribunal, which is due to announce its decision within the next two weeks.
Kirklees Council said she was asked to take off her veil in class and refused, but the action was "nothing to do with religion", only a practical matter about making herself understood.
But Ms Azmi told the BBC: "It hasn't caused a problem between myself and the children. They've never complained and we had a brilliant relationship."
She added: "To say the students have a problem with communication, that's not right."
Disputing the school's version of events, she insisted she had always been willing to take off her veil in front of the children but would not in front of male colleagues.
She said she had taught in class without the veil when there were no males present.
The teaching assistant admitted she had not been wearing her veil when interviewed by a male member of school staff, but said she had not realised a man would be present.
She said: "The veil is really important to all Muslim women who choose to wear it. Our religion compels us to wear it because it's in the Koran."
Killing isn't enough for Islamists
Why is it that the Islamists around the world, specifically in Iraq right now, can't just kill their victims?
Kidnapping, detaining, killing isn't enough for them, they must slowly torture, mangle, decapitate, then display their victims. And what is even worse is that the victims are not just strong healthy men, they are the old, the weak, women, children, babies. The Islamists who do this are evil, barbarians, uncivilized, unfit to live in the modern world. They want to bring civilization down to their level. How can you deal in a civilized manner with these people? You can't. You cannot negotiate with them, you canot reason with them, you can only defeat them. That is the only thing they understand.
What do they have against their victims? Nothing other than they are not Sunni, or not Shiite, or not Muslim... Their victims are just available. These Islamists are not men, they are scum.
The bodies of 17 Shiite construction workers were found in an orchard outside Baghdad, kidnapped and decapitated in apparent retaliation for an attack on Sunni Arabs last week, and at least 14 other people were killed Saturday, mostly in sectarian violence around the country.
The workers' headless bodies were found Friday outside the city of Duluiyah, 45 miles north of Baghdad, along with four other unknown victims, also beheaded.
The killings of the workers were apparently retaliation for the Wednesday kidnapping of three Sunni Arabs in Duluiyah by a Shiite militia based in Balad, police said. The three were killed and their bodies burned.
Under pressure to take stronger action to put an end to militia violence, the Shiite-led Interior Ministry intends to carry out significant changes in high-level positions at the ministry, which is in charge of the police. source
Members of the 'ministries' are corrupt, have been sited for human rights violations, are complicit in the violence and killing. Members of the Iraqi military and police are guilty and complicit. How do you tell the good guys from the bad guys?
Around dawn, a Shiite family of four were killed in Mahmoudiya, about 20 miles south of Baghdad, army Capt. Oday Abdul-Ridha said. Abdul-Ridha said assailants dressed in military-style uniforms had stormed into the family's house. [snip] In Baghdad, an employee of government-run TV was killed in a drive-by shooting Friday night, police said. source
It doesn't matter who you are, what your job is, whether you are male or female, adult or child, you are a target for mutiliation and death if the Islamist can get his nasty hands on you.
Evil lives in the hearts of these men.
Adam Gadahn issues video threat to Britain
Adam Gadahn, who was indicted this week for treason in the United States of America, appears on video representing Al-Qaeda and threatening Britain.
THE al-Qaeda terrorist who was this week charged with treason by the US has issued a chilling video threat to Britain.
Adam Gadahn, also known as 'Azzam the American' vowed in a video message that raids by British terror cops would do nothing to "prevent the Muslims from exacting revenge on behalf of their persecuted brothers and sisters".
Gadahn is so feared in the US, the FBI has placed him on its Most Wanted Terrorists List and offered a $1million reward for information leading to his arrest.
FBI agents warn that Gadahn should be considered armed and dangerous. source
I don't agree with that statement that Gadahn 'is so feared in the US'. We don't fear him. He's a former goat farmer from California who couldn't fit in and ran off to join a terrorist group who now happily uses him as a stooge and mouthpiece.
Yes we hung traitors.
He is a traitor and should be hanged.
Hamas wants to attack United States interests in Middle East
Hamas not only refuses to recognize Israel's right to exist, they now want to attack interests of the United States in the Middle East. They seem to be upset with President George W. Bush and the United States support of Israel. It seems the 'radicals' within Hamas are outnumbering the (dare I say it) moderates. Israeli intelligence believes that if Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas moves to dismiss the Hamas government in the next few weeks, the radical element in Hamas will go forward with attacks on US interests.
The U.S. consulate in Jerusalem has warned that Americans traveling in the Palestinian territories are no longer safe from kidnapping like Steve Centanni and Olaf Wigg, Fox News employees; and American aid worker, Michael Philips, 24, from Louisiana was kidnapped from Nablus. It seems the Palestinian people are blaming the United States for their problems when in reality they should be blaming themselves for voting for Hamas.
Commanders of the military wing of Hamas, the Islamist movement elected to power in the Palestinian territories earlier this year, are locked in a fierce debate over whether to launch terrorist attacks on U.S. targets in the Middle East. Despite its anti-American rhetoric, Hamas has until now refrained from any known terror strikes against the U.S.
. . . In furtive, underground meetings held in the West Bank and Gaza, a growing number of Hamas commanders say they are running out of patience with the U.S. and want to strike back. Insiders say the radicals are trying to exploit the exasperation within the movement at what they perceive as the Bush Administration's one-sided support of Israel and its attempts to press Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to dissolve the Hamas cabinet. source
Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said today, "I tell you with all honesty, we will not recognize Israel, we will not recognize Israel, we will not recognize Israel, ... We say we will be in every government, we will stay in the government." Even Iran's President Mahmoud Amadinejad said we should let the people vote who they want to lead them and let that be the end of it.
The Hamas leader ruled out a proposal by members of his own Hamas movement to form a new government of technocrats as a way of winning international support and ending a seven-month aid freeze.
"There are new scenarios, such as an emergency government, a technocrat government, or early elections," Haniyeh told the crowd in a packed soccer stadium. "They all aim at one thing, getting Hamas out of the government." [snip]
Haniyeh said his best offer to Israel was a temporary truce in return for establishment of a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with its capital in Jerusalem, over which Israel claims complete sovereignty. He also repeated demands for the release of thousands of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons source
Found: The Missing Muslim Moderates
Ever since the Twin Towers were destroyed, the West has been calling for any moderate muslims to stand up and be counted, and outside of a very few who have, there's been a deafening silence from the world of Islam. Polls taken in various European countries uniformly show the majority of muslims as being against the West and against Western values and democracy in spite of their living in and enjoying the fruits of Western civilization after fleeing the misery and poverty of the Islamic society they escaped from.
This article claims that 15% of European muslims have converted to Christianity. "There is even a secret underground network to support and protect those who leave Islam. One estimate suggests that as many as 15 per cent of Muslims in Western societies have lost their faith, which would mean that in Britain there are about 200,000 apostates."
Over all of Europe, 15% becomes a huge number and it apparently is still growing. These people are being severely persecuted by the muslim population at large, since muslims who lose their faith face execution or imprisonment, in line with traditional muslim teaching, in many Islamic countries. Not in Europe, of course, but muslims in Europe honor the local laws as little as possible in favor of religious law and the new Christians may still face being murdered for leaving Islam. Even in the face of this, where converts may be attacked by their own families, people are leaving Islam in large numbers.
All of us who have been waiting for the so-called “moderate muslims” to speak out, well, they are and this is how they’re doing it. It only makes sense. Those who are truly moderate could only stay muslims as long as the religion allowed them to live in peace. When it started demanding that they and their children die for it, it was time to go.
This act of separation will peak and then fade as those who are truly the moderates in Islam become "apostate", that is, convert to other religions. The total muslim population in Europe is about 50 million, so about 7.5 million have currently left Islam. These converts, mostly to Christianity, are being so sorely attacked that they will become some of our best fighters against Islam. Islam's imams have shot themselves in the foot by thinking that all muslims will be loyal to a decadent life of poverty after their exposure to the tremendous benefits of Western civilization. I’m willing to bet that most of these converts will be in the forefront of future civil and military action to take back Europe from the Eurabians. They, more than most of us, know full well the consequences to them if Europe becomes ruled by Islamic sharia law.
US Energy Secretary Cannot Object To Venezuela Being Charitable ...
Another example of how various branches of the US government act loopy:
From ElUniversal:
"...I cannot object to Venezuela being charitable," the US Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman told Reuters when asked about the reply his office is to give to a controversial discounted heating oil distribution program Citgo Petroleum Corporation -the US refining branch of Venezuelan state oil giant Pdvsa- has been implementing in the United States since last year, as instructed by President Hugo Chávez
Bodman said in Washington that the US Energy Department would not refuse the sales of discounted heating oil in winter, even if they come from Citgo. For many US citizens, Citgo is the arm implementing the policies of Chávez -who openly opposes his US counterpart George W. Bush ...(
btw, the article also talks about how 147 out of the 151 indigineous Alaskan tribes will accept Hugo's largess -- FB)
Samuel Bodman is a Bush appointee.
And, once again, Chavez proves to himself and the rest of the world that Americans will lick his boots for oil.
You know -- I do not understand why the US government cannot subsidize heating oil from other sources. While oil is fungible, we do not have to use the stuff that has Hugo's name all over it -- and we shouldn't.
Crossposted at RedHotCuppaPolitics.
UPDATE: Looks like the vote to fill the non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council may come as early as next week -- but Chile may be having some reservations. Good background here.
If Venezuela does get elected to the Security Council, Hugo might decide to occupy the seat personally. Now that would be a swell time.
British Student Arrested for Being Politically Incorrect
Codie StottA 14-year-old British girl was arrested for racism when she asked to work on a project with English speaking students.
It seems she was to work on this project with 'Asian' students (that's PC code for muslim) and only one of the group spoke English. The group was supposed to discuss the project.
She went to speak to her teacher ....
"I said 'I'm not being funny, but can I change groups because I can't understand them?' But she started shouting and screaming, saying 'It's racist, you're going to get done by the police'."
Codie said she went outside to calm down where another teacher found her and, after speaking to her class teacher, put her in isolation for the rest of the day.
A complaint was made to a police officer based full-time at the school, and more than a week after the incident on September 26 she was taken to Swinton police station and placed under arrest.
Codie's mother is furious. She says her daughter was only asking for something that was common sense and the school's reaction was over the top. I can't argue with that. Talk about an over reaction. Even if a 14-year-old girl did make an inappropriate remark, which 14-year-old girls tend to do, I hardly think arresting her is a 'common sense' reaction.
The school is now investigating exactly what happened before deciding what action - if any - to take against Codie.
Headteacher Dr Antony Edkins said: "An allegation of a serious nature was made concerning a racially motivated remark by one student towards a group of Asian students new to the school and new to the country."
"We aim to ensure a caring and tolerant attitude towards people and pupils of all ethnic backgrounds and will not stand for racism in any form."
But it's not a caring and tolerant attitude towards all pupils of all ethnic backgrounds. The English child was not treated in a caring and tolerant manner. She was arrested and held in a cell for asking to be in a discussion group with other youth who spoke the same language she did.
Salford was at the centre of a storm last April after a ten-year-old boy was hauled before a court for allegedly calling an 11-year-old mixed race pupil a 'Paki' and 'Bin Laden' in a playground argument at a primary school in Irlam.
When the case came before District Judge Jonathan Finestein he said the decision to prosecute showed "how stupid the whole system is getting".
But was himself fiercely attacked by teaching union leaders for "feeding a pernicious agenda" that aided the BNP.
The prosecution was eventually dropped.
As with most things, there is undoubtedly more to the story. I'm sure the version in this article isn't all there is to it. But it's apparent that there is a serious problem if students are being given consequences for speech that are so severe as to intimidate them into compliance.
If this is the attitude of the people of Britain, it's no wonder that Britain's muslim population is refusing to assimilate into the British culture. Britain will continue to have trouble with that population until they quit this type of appeasement and dhimmitude.
British General Sir Richard Dannatt Speaks Out
British SoldiersThe last couple of days I've been hearing on the news about a British General who has spoken out against the War on Terrorism in Iraq.
What I've been hearing on the television news is that this general has said that the British Soldiers in Iraq are making the situation in Iraq worse and that Britain should pull out of Iraq immediately. I heard on the television news that what he has said flies in the face of British Prime Minister Tony Blair's face.
Then today, I heard that he had retracted his statements. I heard one newsman say that 'someone must have gotten to him'. I've heard that he is backpedaling and trying to do damage control.
I thought that it would be highly unusual for a general to make these kinds of statements and then be immediately intimidated into 'backpedaling'. By the time someone has made the rank of general, they know how the game is played both on the battlefield and in politics. Someone in that position would certainly know that making those kinds of statements publicly would be controversial. Unless he is a complete idiot, I would think he would know that he would be up against a fire storm for making the statements.
I looked up what General Sir Dannatt actually said and was not all that surprised to see that what he said, in context with the rest of what he said, was not very much the way the sound bites on television made it sound.
From the Daily Mail
In unprecedented comments he warned that the Army could 'break' if British soldiers are kept too long in Iraq.
"I want an Army in five years time and 10 years time. Don't let's break it on this one. Let's keep an eye on time," he said.
I've been very concerned that our Soldiers are being asked to return for 2 and 3 tours of duty in a war zone. They are rotating in one year and out one year. In Vietnam the guys did one year tours of duty and had done their time in serving the country.
I'm in full favor of instituting the draft. My son tells me I'm wrong about that. He says he doesn't want to have to train and fight next to people who are forced to be there. I understand what he is saying, but at the same time I'm hearing that the Army met it's recruitment goals this year by raising the age limits and lowering the testing requirements. So the Soldiers may not be drafted, but they are possibly older and unable to pass basic standards for entering the military. This is of even more concern to me as all of the Soldiers serve on the front line in this war.
Here's another bit:
... that a "moral and spiritual vacuum" has opened up in British society, which is allowing Muslim extremists to undermine "our accepted way of life."
The Chief of the General Staff believes that Christian values are under threat in Britain and that continuing to fight in Iraq will only make the situation worse.
His views have sent shockwaves through Government.
They are a total repudiation of the Prime Minister, who has repeatedly insisted that British presence in Iraq is morally right and has had no effect on our domestic security.
The General says that Christian values are under threat in Britain and the Prime Minister says that the British presence in Iraq is morally right. Those things are not mutually exclusive. The way it's being presented is that the General has spoken out against the Prime Minister. The only difference is that the General feels that British presence in Iraq exacerbates muslim anger in Britain while the Prime Minister is maintaining that one has nothing to do with the other.
I tend to think the General is right about that. I imagine the muslims will use whatever excuse they have to express their outrage. Palestine .... enough said.
Sir Richard says "whatever consent we may have had in the first place" from the Iraqi people "has largely turned to intolerance." You see, as Westerners we are not welcome in muslim countries unless we are invited. He maintains that once we had toppled Saddam our invite expired and the muslims are getting outraged by our presence on muslim land.
Remember the Tsunami? We sent the Marines there to help. The muslims allowed our Marines there only on the condition they were on their ship at night and there were no Western Marines on their soil after dark. And the Marines were there giving them life saving assistance.
Sir Richard is outraged about a few things:
He was "outraged" by reports of injured soldiers recouperating in hospital alongside civilians being confronted by anti-war campaigners who told them to remove their uniforms.
He's right. That's outrageous. Neither British nor American Soldiers should be subjected to that kind of treatment. It is completely unacceptable and both Blair and Bush should step forward and stop it. Period.
He gave Defence Secretary Des Browne a dressing down about the "unaccepatble" treatment of injured soldiers, warning him that the government was in danger of breaking the "covenant" between a nation and its Army and should not "let the Army down."
Defence Secretary Browne deserved a dressing down for this. The government, theirs or ours, should NOT BREAK OUR COVENANT WITH OUR ARMED SERVICES. We DO have a covenant. We OWE them proper treatment. Without them we could not exist.
When Sir Richard speaks of the affect of the British Soldiers in Iraq he is speaking of the muslim view of having Westerners in their country.
"We are in a Muslim country and Muslims' views of foreigners in their country are quite clear."
As a foreigner, you can be welcomed by being invited in a country, but we weren’t invited certainly by those in Iraq at the time.
He does not seem to be concerned for the muslims sake, but for the sake of Britain.
Sir Richard warned that the consequences will be felt at home, where failure to support Christian values is allowing a predatory Islamist vision to take hold.
He said: "When I see the Islamist threat in this country I hope it doesn’t make undue progress because there is a moral and spiritual vacuum in this country."
"Our society has always been embedded in Christian values; once you have pulled the anchor up there is a danger that our society moves with the prevailing wind."
"There is an element of the moral compass spinning. I think it is up to society to realise that is the situation we are in."
"We can’t wish the Islamist challenge to our society away and I believe that the army both in Iraq and Afghanistan and probably wherever we go next, is fighting the foreign dimension of the challenge to our accepted way of life."
"We need to face up to the Islamist threat, to those who act in the name of Islam and in a perverted way try to impose Islam by force on societies that do not wish it."
"It is said that we live in a post Christian society. I think that is a great shame. The broader Judaic-Christian tradition has underpinned British society. It underpins the British army."
The muslims do not want Western men and women on their soil, but attempt to force islam on other societies. We see it happening all over the world.
The problem that is being exacerbated is not so much the muslim outrage as the split in our own societies, both Britain and the United States. The split allows a foothold for the predatory islamic vision that Sir Richard is talking about. That is where the problem lies.
His other point, about the treatment of our Soldiers, is in defense of the men under his command. I commend him for standing up for them, as he well should.
His statements have been misrepresented in the main stream media. Unfortunately, the sound bites are being used for the very thing he is speaking out against .... the division within the country. Manipulating us into defeating ourselves is the only way our enemy can win this war.
I think Sir Richard is talking about WINNING the war rather than surrendering.
The army wont let the nation down but I don’t want the nation to let the army down.
~ British General Sir Richard Dannatt
AMEN!
Also at The Corner, It's the way you tell them., All Things Beautiful, BBC, Tony Blair says he's been saying the same thing, Thomas Barnett, and, of course, some leftist blogs are using the General's words to hammer Bush - pretty much exactly what the General is trying to warn against (among other things).
Ruth Kelly Speaks on Islam
Click for analysis video
An analysis of Communtities Secretary Ruth Kelly's speech (read text) is presented here.
Also from the Muslim Council of Britain's website:
Ruth Kelly's speech yesterday to an invited Muslim audience contained much that was sensible. On the contentious issue of the niqab (face-veil), for example, she said: "This is ultimately an issue of informed personal choice. No-one is suggesting that in a free and democratic country the state should decide what its citizens can and cannot wear..."
She was also half-right, in my view, in reminding her listeners that: "Britain is a good place to be a Muslim. British Muslims are central to our political, business and social life. There are an increasing number of Muslims in the armed forces, in the police and in parliament."
I say only half-right, because as the secretary of state for communities and local government, it is of no little concern that she did not take this opportunity to also express her thoughts on the worrying anti-Muslim climate being deliberately stoked by some sections of the British media. Just recall some of the ridiculous stories that have qualified as national news in recent weeks and the harmful impact they will have had on perceptions of, and attitudes towards, ordinary British Muslims.
However, her speech will primarily be remembered for her pledge to financially support those groups which were actively committed to tackling extremism and her not so veiled criticism of the Muslim Council of Britain for its stance over the Holocaust Memorial Day.
The fact that the Muslim Council will not recognize the Holocaust IS cause for alarm. So is this...Talk about anti-Muslim climate and perceptions of Islam!
You tell me...what should the British Government should do?
Clashes over Ramadan soap operas
A T.V. show angers Saudi Arabian and Egyptian religious conservatives.
Cairo--Recent years have witnessed the emergence of a new Ramadan tradition in the Arab world. It is the annual controversy provoked by TV programmes made to cash in on another modern Ramadan ritual - that of families spending long hours in front of the television set, often from sunset, when Muslims break their fast, until sunrise, when they resume it.
This year these programmes have caused uproar in both Saudi Arabia and Egypt, pitting religious conservatives against those of a more secular bent. The Saudi satirical series Tash Ma Tash, a Ramadan staple for 14 seasons, has this year angered conservatives by taking on the religious police who tour the kingdom's public spaces ensuring that women are adequately covered, the sexes do not mix and shops shut down for prayers.
In one episode, set in a bucolic village in an unnamed country closely resembling Saudi Arabia, officials, dubbed "the guardians of virtue", ponder how best to ensure that women riding donkeys should be kept "protected" from men on the roads. One guardian proposes digging tunnels for women only, while another suggests females should sit in closed wooden boxes atop their animals and navigate using periscopes. Eventually a wall is built dividing the village into sections for men and women.
Viewers will not have missed the episode's fierce satire which takes repeated swipes at the ban on females driving in the kingdom, the resistance to women working and the double standards governing the treatment of the sexes. Predictably Tash Ma Tash has angered conservatives, prompting some preachers to lead their congregations in prayers calling on God to bring down his wrath on the programme makers.
Now THAT'S Entertainment! At least it's only God they are asking to bring wrath...just yet.
Remember the USS Cole
Today is the sixth anniversary of the bombing of the USS Cole.
USS Cole
On October 12, 2000, the USS Cole (DDG 67) was attacked by homicide jihadists while docked at port in Yemen. It was one in a series of attacks by the terror organization al-Qaeda. This attack, along with all the previous attacks on U.S. interests by al-Qaeda, was treated as a criminal act rather than an act of war. The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, declared the perpetrators of this cowardly act would be held accountable. But no action was taken against the jihadists. Therefore, the jihadists who perpetrated this act had the opportunity to continue to plot and plan further acts of terrorism against the interests of the United States and other Western nations.
The most recent attack on the United States by the terror organization al-Qaeda was September 11, 2001.
On Nuking Mecca
We've been receiving a number of hits at JDJ from searches for "Ramadan Attack on Friday the 13th"- that's tommorrow. Do they know something we don't?
Leonard Magruder is a guest writer who has the idea that deterrence of the Nuclear threat should include the threatened annihilation of Mecca.
The message is, just don't try it. This is a conditional plan, of the nature, "If you do that -we will be forced to do this." Nothing actually need happen. If it does, they will be responsible - for the destruction of their own people.
We must be prepared to use our power to end this threat to the world now, or live with it for decades to come during which time there will be successes by the terrorists. They will get through on occasion and destroy our cities one by one. After their first success, the loss of our first city to a nuclear device, there will be a terrible outcry for retaliation and millions could die in a spasm of unplanned nuclear response. Why not think this out and put a threat of retaliation in place now, in hopes of averting even that first attack?
Do we think the jihadists are ready to enter into diplomacy? Maybe if we threaten their cube in the desert...they will.
Azzam The American Orientation Video
Sometimes you just can't help yourself. This is probably what Adam Gadahn will sound like radicalizing in an American prison. We can always hope!
What we already know?
Gadahn's whereabouts remain a mystery. US officials described him as a "a fugitive who is believed to be overseas". If American authorities track him down he could be sentenced to death if convicted of treason in the US courts.[wink wink]
What cemented Gadahn as a serious threat were his recent appearances with al-Qa'ida's second-in-command, Ayman Al-Zawahiri. "It is not some masked guy with a rifle saying, 'Death to America'," a senior US official, who declined to be named, told The Los Angeles Times newspaper. "It is an American. And his target audience is the US."
I'm sure he'll end up someone's wife before he gets his injection.
Adam Yahiye Gadahn: American Traitor
Adam GadahnWe've seen this guy on TV. He calls himself 'Azzam the American' and is a propagadist for al-Qaeda. He is an American who has become a key member of the al-Qaeda.
Adam Gadahn is the first American to be charged with treason since 1952.
There should have been others charged with treason. I don't want to mention any names like Hanoi Jane or John Walker Lindh. But Adam 'Yahiye' certainly, without question crossed the line to treason.
He has not only done recruitment videos for al-Qaeda, but has provided the English voice overs for other videos so that they can be distributed in English speaking countries.
In the video published on the anniversary of the mass transit attacks in London Adam claimed that no muslim should 'shed a tear' for any Westerners killed in the terrorist attacks in London. He also has promised attacks on America that will leave America streets running 'red with blood'.
A 48-minute video posted on an Islamic militant Web site last month included footage of Al Qaeda's No. 2 man, Ayman al-Zawahiri, and Gadahn, who the FBI believes attended Al Qaeda training camps in Pakistan and served as an Al Qaeda translator.
LA Times
"Increasingly, the stature of his statements shows that he not only has credibility as an information operative for Al Qaeda … but if you look at it through the lens of Al Qaeda spreading its message, then he is absolutely an instrumental player," said another counterterrorism official who has watched Gadahn's ascent for years.
"I mean, he is now making statements with Al-Zawahiri, who is the No. 2 and the tactician. And [Gadahn] is right there with him at critical periods of time," said the official, who like others in government spoke on condition of anonymity because of the anticipated criminal case against Gadahn.
Some background:
Gadahn, the son of musician Adam Pearlman, was raised in a middle-class Jewish family, but at the age of 17 he dropped in on the Islamic Society of Orange County and asked to worship there. He later was expelled from the mosque after attacking an employee. Records show he pleaded guilty to assault and battery charges on June 11, 1997, and was sentenced to two days in Orange County jail and 40 hours of community service. It is believed he fled to Pakistan sometime in 1998.
Gadahn disappeared soon after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington.
As of May 27, 2004, court records showed that Gadahn failed to perform the community service, so a warrant is outstanding for his arrest.
Some of those who attended the mosque said Gadahn was becoming very extreme in his views, while family members said he began attacking Christianity as he became more a more devout follower of Islam.
According to the FBI, Gadahn attended Al Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan and served as an Al Qaeda translator. The agency said he also was associated with senior Al Qaeda lieutenant Abu Zubeida in Pakistan. He has used the aliases Adam Pearlman and Aby Suhayb Al-Amriki. The FBI also said Gadahn was known to have performed translations for Al Qaeda, among other services.
In 2004, FBI officials in Los Angeles said Gadahn was last known to be in Southern California in 1997 or 1998.
Some information about Adam Pearlman:
The grandson of a Jewish doctor, the young man was raised as Adam Pearlman on a goat farm in the hills of southwestern Riverside County by parents who had eclectic religious tastes and shunned the modern world.
At 14, his spiritual journey took him to the Islamic Center of Orange County, where he fell under the influence of two radical Muslims, Khalil Deek and Hisham Diab, both naturalized U.S. citizens.
Diab, an Egyptian, owned an accounting business, and Deek, a Palestinian, repaired computers. They lived in upstairs apartments across from each other in a complex near Little Gaza, a stretch of Arab-owned shops, restaurants and other businesses on Brookhurst Street in Anaheim.
"Deek and Diab met him at the mosque and [Diab] brought him home like a lost dog,"
It's believed that Adam Pearlman aka whatever he's calling himself is in Pakistan.
One doesn't know how one will react when standing at the business end of a gun. For all his brave talk against his own country, he could cower like a pig when he's caught. Or not. He probably won't be taken alive. Or maybe he will.
However the end comes down for him, he's a traitor and has been rightly charged as one.
More than 6 million Palestinians died since 2000
dead palestinians who were only minding their own business throwing Molotov cocktails at passing Israeli tanksIn an update of a two-year-old survey that sparked wide disagreement, Johns Hopkins researchers now estimate that more than a half-million Iraqis have died as a result of the U.S.-led invasion and its bloody aftermath.
Using the same methodology, that is, talking to locals instead of Hospitals and Morgues, Hassan Gotefakkir, Information Minister of the Palestinian National Authority, has calculated that over six million Palestinians have died since the outbreak of the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000. Indeed, Hassan is quoted as saying, "I personally have been to the funeral of Abu Moustash at least 8 times. If Abu would only stop falling out of the pall we could finally bury him." [See video especially at the 5:49 time mark]
fatima at the red seaHassan also points out the plight of Fatima Araflat [also known as Flat Fatima], a refugee from Lebanon who lost over 32,000 relatives when 400 of her apartment buildings collapsed after Israeli shelling during the Lebanon- Israeli War. Fatima re-settled in the Gaza strip just this past month when she was witness to a horrific drowning of over 20,000 Palestinians caused by one Israelite with a hooked staff.
Hassan does admit that a very small percentage of the count may be slightly inaccurate. For example, Ahmed "2 fingers" Abadabba was blown up during a suicide bombing test and so far only two fingers have been recovered. There was much discussion whether each finger should be counted as a dead person. And there was also the case of Yusef Yusef Yusef, a sufferer of echolalia, who when he was shot, shouted, "I'm dead! I'm dead! I'm dead!" Unfortunately he was recorded dead 15 times by a mortician who suffered from obsessive compulsive disorder. But these are only small irregularities. Hassan has not relied solely on personal testimony when arriving at this number of 6 million. "We also have scientific evidence. For example, it takes about 6 burials before a shovel breaks. In 2005 alone we have used up over 166,000 shovels. That is 1,000,000 Palestinian Martyrs in one year alone. Or as we like to say, 72 million Virgins had their loins parted that year." A short observation: it is entirely possible that the Palestinian National Authority actually bought this number of shovels since the US and Europe gave over 1 billion dollars in aid to the Palestinians in 2005 alone.
Other experts in the field of anatomical forensics, such as Dr. Mahmood Ahmadinezhad, a member of the Central Council of the Islamic Society of Engineers said, "Any one who doubts the Palestinian Holocaust is a blasphemer and racist. The evidence is overwhelming and undeniable.."
When is was pointed out by a reporter from Planck's Constant that the total Palestinian population in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel proper was never more than 5.3 million, Dr. Ahmadinezhad retorted, "Only an asshole would not believe 6 million could die in less than 6 years, and I should know, I have seen many an asshole"
Even if the United States didn’t do anything before, we have a President who actually did something now; and that is the rub. The one U.S. President who lifted a finger to remove the treacherous Butcher of Baghdad from power had the unfortunate audacity to be a Republican with the initials GW Bush. That is enough to make old time Iraq good enough for those who play the Iraq was better under Saddam game.
A Tale Of Four Nazi's ...
Here's an excerpt of an interesting article from the Iranian Journal:
The Real War today (as Richard Nixon would say) is between the Gang of Four Nazis - Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, and Cuba - and the UN anti-Nazi coalition led by the US, Russia, and China. The Gang of Four Nazis, led by Iran, is out to overturn the post-WW II peace agreements and the UN system, as President Ahmadinejad has expressly stated on more than one occasion. It is a paradox that North Korea, which owes its very existence to the post-WW II settlement, should join this anti-status quo Nazi coalition. North Korea should be considered the weak link in the Gang of Four Furthermore, The G-4/Nazi Axis is in rebellion against the post-WW II liberal economic order. To overturn this order, the G-4/Nazis are adopting policies and rationales that are drawn directly from Hitler and Mussolini and their ritual denunciations of the Jews, the Communists, and the "Anglo-Saxon Plutocrats..."
This sounds alot like what both Ahmadinejad and Chavez were saying between some of their more sensational speeches at the UN a couple of weeks ago.
There are parts of the article that I disagree with. For example. I don't think that the US has been undermining the UN, nor do I see China and Russia as especially stabalizing influences in the Middle East.
However, there are some interesting ideas, click here for more.
Top Qaeda leader Goes After White House
No he's not a democrat.
DUBAI (Reuters) - A man believed to be a top al Qaeda militant who escaped from a U.S. jail near Kabul was shown in a new videotape broadcast on Tuesday exhorting followers in Afghanistan to fight on until they attack the White House.
"Allah will not be pleased until we reach the rooftop of the White House," Abu Yahya al-Libi was shown telling fighters in the tape aired by the Dubai-based Al-Arabiya television.
The channel said the tape was one-hour long, showing footage of Libi urging fighters to train hard and even to try to acquire nuclear technology.
"You have to get well prepared by starting with exercise, and then you have to learn how to use technology until you are capable of nuclear weapons," he said.
Concerning nukes: a comment from a reader in Israel:
Joe, from whereever you are writing, you can afford to say "watch them very carefully." In a a handout newpaper, "Israeli," put out for the customers of the buses riding to and from the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem, I saw an article by Amos Segev in Hebrew stating about Iran, "In the end the decision must be ours alone."
If your country does not have the nuts to deal with the Moslem bomb, we in Israel will have to. G-d only grant that our leaders have the nuts to do it themselves...
We're with you on that too, Ruvy.
See the mushroom?
Al Qaeda’s warning to Muslims to leave the United States could prove true. Muslim guerillas have no record of bluffing. In Arab mentality, private honesty is non-existent, but public image must be sustained at any cost. Arabs are often truthful in their public pronouncements.
The warning immediately followed the North Korean nuclear test. The Korean communists acted entirely unreasonably, and predictably angered China, their main sponsor. North Korea could ask the world community for just any aid in return for abandoning the nuclear test; it didn’t.
The North Koreans exploded an unusually small bomb – too small if they wanted to build up their military image. The test could be intended for a customer.
Would the North Korea risk selling nuclear weapons to terrorists? After attack, the seller would be obvious. North Korean rulers need cash, and don’t care about retribution against their people. Quite possibly, North Korea undertook to sell nuclear weapons in exchange for A.Q.Khan’s assistance in their nuclear program. Khan, ousted from the Pakistani nuclear conglomerate under the US pressure, definitely wants revenge.
Al Qaeda first warnings of massive attacks came about the same time when North Korea produced its first enriched uranium or plutonium. Bin Laden offered himself as spiritual guide to the Americans to convert to Islam. He asked the US to withdraw from the Muslim territories. Later, he offered truce. Finally, he told the fellow Muslims to flee. Bin Laden exonerated himself before a major attack.
Given a chance of nuclear attack against the US, what is to be done? Analysts are probably checking now C-130 plane flights from Pakistan to North Korea in the recent days. Customers took a plane. Checking the massive ($100mil+) cash withdrawals from bank accounts is also worthwhile. The major thing, however, is counter-threat.
The United States must issue the ultimatum: in case of nuclear attack, it won’t search for the perpetrators, but inflict reciprocal damage. Mecca is the American best defense and the dream hostage. Pass a law or at least issue executive order than the US would annihilate Mecca after any terrorist nuclear attack on the American soil. Including in the list a couple of other cities, like Hyderabad and Teheran, is useful, but not essential. Mecca is critical for Shiites and Sunnis, Saudis and Pakistanis. Muslim terrorists could not afford to be blamed for annihilation of Mecca.
Islamic Indoctrination in American Schools
Thomas More Law Center
According To Some Federal Courts And Public Schools: Christianity Out, Islam In
ANN ARBOR, MI – A three-week intensive indoctrination into the Islamic faith by a California public school district was allowed to stand by the U. S. Supreme Court last week. A California federal trial court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals had earlier ruled that such indoctrination was constitutional.
The Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, outraged by the obvious double standard in the application of the Establishment Clause jurisprudence by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which has held “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional, but allows this kind of Islamic instruction in public schools, had requested that the Supreme Court review the case.
The materials used by Byron Union School District seventh graders stated, “From the beginning, you and your classmates will become Muslims.” Students were instructed to accept as “fact” that Jihad is “a struggle by Muslims against oppression, invasion, and injustice,” and to accept as “truth” that the Koran “is God’s word as revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.” Students were taught the five duties (Pillars of Faith) all Muslims must fulfill and were required to complete a project for each duty, including fasting, in order to pass.
According to Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of the Law Center, “This three-week course was for the most part propaganda that could be used to unwittingly recruit home grown terrorist. Nevertheless, some public schools are allowing this kind of religious instruction under the guise of diversity instruction.
Impressionable twelve-year-old students were required to take Islamic names, wear identification tags that displayed their new Islamic name and the Star and Crescent Moon. Students also were handed materials that instructed them to “remember Allah always so that you may prosper,” and memorized and recited the “Bismillah” or “In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate,” which students also wrote on banners that were hung on the classroom walls. Students also had to memorize parts of Islamic prayers and verses from the Koran.
Thompson continued, “No federal court would have permitted a class where public school students were taught to ‘become Catholics’ for three weeks, selected a saint’s name, wore identification tags that displayed their new name and a Crucifix, and engaged in Catholic religious practices. Here, however, students were subjected to Islamic religious indoctrination and propaganda and the courts turned a blind eye. The Supreme Court missed an opportunity to demonstrate that the Establishment Clause is to be applied the same to all religions and is not just a weapon to be used only against Christians.”
Edward L. White III, trial counsel with the Thomas More Law Center who handled the case, commented, “I am surprised the Supreme Court did not accept this case for review. The case presented significant issues of national importance concerning public school education and religious indoctrination of children.”
Is this okay with people? We aren't allowed to have a moment of prayer at the beginning of the school day. Christian groups aren't allowed to use school property for meetings, even after the school day. The Boy Scouts are attacked regularly by the ACLU and denied the use of public property because they swear an oath to do their duty to God and Country.
I have a hard time wrapping my mind around how someone can justify this kind of craziness in their own heads. There are people who seem to be ashamed of being American. They seem to feel they need to appologize that they live in the most successful republic in the world, the most powerful nation in the world, the wealthiest nation in the world. For some reason, these people seem to feel if they embrace our enemies cultures than we won't be such capitalist pigs.
There is nothing wrong with being successful. It's okay. It really is.
Now stop with the guilt trip and start supporting your country.
Not Just Another "Scary Movie"
From The Drudge Report-
The DRUDGE REPORT has obtained an exclusive copy of a "scary" campaign advertisement created by Hollywood producer and director David Zucker (Scary Movie III,IV and soon V) that was intended to be used by GOP organizations in the closing weeks of the 2006 campaign.
However, the advertisement was deemed "too hot" by GOP strategists all across Washington, DC who have refused to use it!
One GOP strategist said "jaws dropped" when the ad was first viewed. "Nobody could believe Zucker thought any political organization could use this ad. It makes a point, but it's way over the top."
Zucker is the producer and director of comedies such as "Airplane" and "The Naked Gun." In 2004, Zucker, a longtime Democrat, embraced the Republican Party based on concerns he had about national security issues and voted for President George W. Bush.
The funny thing about comedy is that there is always a grain of truth that makes it believable--any guess as to what that grain of truth is?
"I Am Become Death": Assessing the Islamic Nuclear Threat
J. Robert Oppenheimer
We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says, "Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." I suppose we all thought that one way or another.
Upon detonating the first atomic bomb, its creator quoted the Bhagavad Gita saying "I have become Death." J. Robert Oppenheimer's realization of the power he had created was overwhelming and probably so due to his personal morality about life and death.
But what happens when this power comes into the hands of those who have stated that they love death as much as we in the West love life? I guess it didn't help that this weekend I watched "Broken Arrow" with John Travolta and Christian Slater. It was an action yarn about a US Air Force pilot who steals and tries to sell nuclear devices.
We have been hearing much lately about the desire of the jihadists to produce an American Hiroshima. In September, a video appeared with Abu Masri, the leader of Al-Qaeda in Iraq recruiting nuclear physicists to "practice" on US military bases there. Also in September, as the 1998 Nuclear Cities Initiative expired, the stage was set for rogue scientists to enter the market as "free agents".
As recently as yesterday the warning from the Taliban to US Muslims is to leave the country because of an attack to happen during the Holy Month of Ramadan, a threat that we previously heard in association with terror suspect Adnan G. El Shukrijumah. With the North Koreans testing nukes, Iran trying to acquire them, and the lapses in Russian security over nuclear warheads of the former Soviet Union, let there be no failure of imagination that this can and probably will happen.
The dilemma, as I see it, for a good Muslim nuclear physicist is to which philosophy will he lean. And that it all comes down to what one refers to as a good Muslim. Is a good Muslim one who works for peace? Or one who works to fulfill Allah's will? And if it is the latter, whose interpretation of the will of Allah will it be? The moderate Muslims of the religion of peace? Or the voice of those like Mohammed Atta and the other 18 9/11 hijackers? Will they choose good or evil... or better whose good and whose evil will be the prism through which the choice is made?
Taliban official warns of Ramadan attack on US
News from Afghanistan-
The head of the Islamabad-based Al-Quds Media Centre has received an audio message from a senior Taliban leader in which he asked Muslims living in the US to leave the country as soon as possible "because God's punishment would fall on America in the month of Ramadan."
Jamal Ismail, a senior journalist who once worked for Al-Jazeera television channel and is now head of the Al-Quds Media Centre, told The News that he received a phone call Thursday from Taliban leader Mulla Masoom Afghani. "Afghani said he was speaking from somewhere in Kandahar province. He read out the message in Arabic, which I recorded. In it he advised Muslim residents of America to get out to escape harm because the US could face big attacks in the month of Ramadan," said Jamal Ismail.
According to Jamal Ismail, it was the first time that Afghani, who is head of the pro-Taliban clerics' consultative council and the former ambassador of Afghanistan to Pakistan, had conveyed such a message. "Afghani didn't say that it was a dream. It appeared that he strongly believed that America was going to face punishment at the hands of Allah," he explained.
A Fatwa isssued from a cave, no doubt. Is this referring to the American Hiroshima again? More rhetoric or the real deal? This is one case where I don't want to see a little less talk and a lot more action.
It is interesting that this is not only the month of Ramadan but also of halloween. And the Taliban, like Allah and his prophet Mo, are just another boogeyman, as far as I am concerned.
North Korea Detonates Nuke
South Korean SoldierSEOUL, South Korea - South Korean government officials said North Korea performed its first-ever nuclear weapons test Monday, the South's Yonhap news agency reported.
South Korean officials could not immediately confirm the report.
South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun convened an urgent meeting of security advisers over the issue, Yonhap reported.
The North said last week it would conduct a nuclear test as part of its deterrent against a possible U.S. invasion.
[source]
This is getting real now.
UPDATE: North Korea Says Nuclear Tests Successful
SEOUL, South Korea - North Korea said Monday it has performed its first-ever nuclear weapons test. The country's official Korean Central News Agency said the test was performed successfully and there was no radioactive leakage from the site.
"The nuclear test is a historic event that brought happiness to the our military and people," KCNA said.
South Korea's Yonhap news agency said the test was conducted at 10:36 a.m. (9:36 p.m. EDT Sunday) in Hwaderi near Kilju city, citing defense officials.
The Japanese government set up a task force in response to reports of the test, Kyodo News agency said Monday. Ministers and officials were urgently called to discuss the situation, the agency reported.
Officials at the Prime Minister's Office were not immediately available to confirm the report.
South Korean Intellegence Report:
South Korea said the country's state intelligence agency detected a 3.58 magnitude seismic tremor in the eastern remote area of North Hamgyeong province at 10:36 a.m. (0136 GMT), reported South Korea's Yonhap news agency.
Earlier in the week the United States issued this statement to Pyongyang:
North Korea "can have a future or it can have these weapons. It cannot have both," Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill said Wednesday in remarks at Johns Hopkins University's U.S.-Korea Institute. It was the toughest response yet from the Bush administration, coming two days after Pyongyang announced plans to conduct its first nuclear test.
The U.N. Security Council said that any nuclear test done by North Korea would be a serious threat to world peace and security. The U.N.'s statement included that the Security Council would 'act consistent with its responsibility under the Charter of the United Nations.'
Australia Prime Minister John Howard
Australia's Prime Minister strongly condemned the test and stated that seismic activity confirmed the test had taken place. He stated that North Korea would not garner better bargaining power through these actions. “The test has destabilised the region, it's eroded North Korea's own security,” he said. “A strong international response is called for and Australia will give full support to that response.”
Mr Howard described it as outrageous that North Korea relied on the international community to feed its starving population while devoting scarce resources to nuclear programs.
South Korea has warned it wouldn't tolerate a nuclear armed North Korea.
Japan has said a any nuclear test by North Korea would be unforgivable.
China has urged North Korea to show restraint.
Japan and South Korea have been trying to put pressure on China to dissuade Pyongyang from following through with it's announcement that North Korea would test nukes this weekend.
North Korea can now be considered a nuclear power. It is a volitile and secretive state that has technically been at war with South Korea and the United States for about 50 years.
This is a perfect example of why we should not half-fight a war or leave a war unfinished. Whenever we've done that, it's come back to bite us.
This action by the North Koreans reveals an entirely new dimension to the War on Terror. The complexion of the war and the world has changed today.
Al Qaeda Cricket Fan Calls Off Terror Plot
The former chairman of Cricket Australia, Bob Merriman, says he knew nothing of a plot to attack the Australian and English teams during last year's Ashes tour.
It has been alleged the men who bombed the public transport system in London last year had originally planned to target cricketers from the two countries.
An unnamed friend of one of the four bombers has told The Sunday Times in Britain that the bombers were plotting to kill the players using sarin gas inside their change rooms.
The paper says the order was allegedly made by Al Qaeda at a terrorist training camp in Kashmir.
The plot is understood to have been stopped because one of the bombers was a cricket fan.
Too bad there weren't any soccer fans to call off the Soccer Jihad of this summer.
MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) -- Radical Islamic militia fighters in central Somalia shot and killed two people at the screening of a banned World Cup soccer broadcast while dispersing the crowd of teenagers watching it, an independent radio station reported Wednesday.
The Islamic fighters, who have banned such entertainment, opened fire after the teenagers defied their orders to leave the cinema that was screening the Germany-Italy match, Shabelle Radio reported. It said the dead were a girl and the cinema owner.
I guess it's not all "Sharia and Sharia alike..."
Raids on terrorists’ lairs intensified
AKA Mike--Good One!The heat is on.
BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — US-backed military operatives have intensified their raids on suspected lairs of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) terrorists in the mountainous towns of Patikul, Maimbong and Indanan, Jolo province, it was learned yesterday.
The air-and-ground offensives in the southern part of Jolo went into high gear after the capture early Wednesday of the wife of a top Indonesian terror suspect, who confirmed the presence of her husband, Dulmatin, and other ASG and JI terror leaders, in Sulu.
Dulmatin’s wife, Istiada BHT Oemar Sovie, is still under tactical interrogation while her two other children are being taken cared-of by the government’s social welfare’s office.
Dulmatin carries a US$ 10 million reward for his capture "dead or alive" along with Umar Patek, who also has also a US-million reward on his head.
Thirty other JI terrorists, believed to be with the group of wanted ASG leader Khadaffy Janjalani and his three other field commanders, are believed holed up in five suspected rebels’ lair in Jolo.
Dulmatin and Patek, another Indonesian, are both suspects in 2002 Bali, Indonesia bombings that killed more 200 people. The duo and Janjalani and his three field commanders are all on Washington’s most wanted list.
So Many AK-47's, So Few Troops ...
According to the Arizona Star, Chavez bought 100,000 AK47's from Russia, but has only 75,000 men in his military. He'll be producing more when the factory starts production.
I've been kind of wondering what Hugo plans to do with the surplus. I'm somehow doubtful that Venezuelan troops fire automatic assault rifles with both hands.
Anyway, looks like some of the weapons have already been put to use -- against Venezuelans.
From Aleksander Boyd over at VCrisis reports on how troops fired on gold miners, killing five:
"...Some two weeks ago a group of approximately 20 army men on board a Russian helicopter flew over a mining area nearby and, from the air, ordered miners to stop working and to lay on the ground or else they would be killed. Shocked by such threat the miners complied, not before some shots were fired. Upon landing the military opened fire killing 5 of them instantly.
The only survivor relates that he moved after being shot once. The army men noticed that he was still alive, so they shot him at close range a second time after which he kept still until there was silence. With two bullet wounds he walked for about 3 hours until indigenous tribesmen saved him. 4 other miners were forced into the river and ordered to remain under water or else they would be killed. They are still unaccounted for.
In total 23 miners are dead or missing. Thus far the only authority that has visited the area is Brazil´s Vice Consul for 2 Brazilian miners were killed ....26 kilo's of gold are also missing from the mine ..."
I don't know if the above article involves simple theft and thuggery, or a political intervention. It would be interesting to know where the gold went.
Meanwhile, there was a massive anti-Chavez rally in Caracas yesterday. Click here for some on the spot reporting from Aleksander Boyd, who was there. Problem at this point is that I don't know if Chavez will allow himself to be voted out of power.
StetsonTip AM Mora y Leon, over at PubliusPundit.
Photo to the right is of the anti-Chavez rally is from the BBC. Boyd says that Hugo's supposed to march today.
Danes Defy Dhimmitude
A group of youth of the People's Party of Denmark had a mohammad drawing contest while at camp this past summer. They apparently spent some time mocking mohammad. Danish TV aired the amateur video.
The images, filmed by artist Martin Rosengaard Knudsen who posed as a member of the party for several months to document attitudes among young members, show a number of young people drinking, singing and drawing cartoons ridiculing the Prophet Mohammad.
The leader of the group, Kenneth Kristensen disapproved of the events, but didn't apologize.
"It's not my kind of humor and it would not have happened if I had been there. It must not be repeated," he told Danish state TV.
Danish muslims are saying they won't be provoked ...
COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - Muslim leaders in Denmark on Saturday condemned video showing members of the anti-immigrant Danish Peoples' Party (DPP) drawing cartoons mocking the Prophet Mohammad, but said they would not be goaded into taking action.
"Against the background of the problems earlier, we have to be careful," said Ahmed Abu-Laban, a Copenhagen imam who helped organise a trip to Egypt and Lebanon last year to rally support among Muslim leaders for protests against those drawings.
However, there looks to be some mis-reporting on al-Jazeera in their arabic publications anyway. Hot Air has a translation of the al-Jazeera version of this story that adds to what Kristensen was reported to have said. While it reports that he disapproved of the groups actions but refused to appologize for it, it adds:
He called on Muslims to recognize that the Messiah is the son of God, and they must form the tariff books on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him “to improve his image in the West and the definition of it.”
The Muslim Brotherhood is none too happy about the Danish youth practicing free speech either.
While the Muslim world’s anger hasn’t yet abated against the background of the Pope of Vatican’s offensive statements against Islam and its prophet, Certain sectors in Western media once again resumed its fierce campaign against Islam, the recent of which was yesterday Friday October 6, 2006, when an organization affiliated to one of the Danish ruling coalition government, the Danish People’s Party, displayed video footage offending the prophet and portraying him in an indecent position.
The Muslim Brotherhood released a statement the following day saying that ” Muslims still come under heated vulgar words said and portraits displayed by a party in the Danish coalition government, displaying stills of video footage offending the world’s most honorable man, Prophet Mohammed PBUH” The statement added that the recurrence of such irresponsible acts shows how deep hatred the West harbors against Islam and prophet and Muslims “This is a tip of the iceberg”, the statement read, adding that this bitter hostility shows sectors in the West’s deep hatred of justice, right and all good virtues enshrined in the religion of Islam.
I've read a good bit this weekend about the increasing conflicts in Europe between muslims and Europeans. Inevitably, the conflicts are referred to as being between 'gangs'. The muslim 'gangs' are referred to as either 'Asian' or 'North African' while the Europeans are referred to as 'white'. The conflicts are referred to as 'racially motivated'.
Another thing I've noticed is that there might be three or four incidents in which muslim youth attack Europeans and little is reported. Then when Europeans, or as reported 'whites', retaliate, it is reported as 'whites' attacking Asians or North Africans in racial violence.
In this story we have some Danish youth at a summer camp being silly, nothing more. But silly adolescent antics aren't allowed now are they? They were covertly video taped. When those tapes are made public, they are portrayed as racists. But numerous hollywood types can make outrageous statements about the Pope or 'middle Americans' and that is perfectly acceptable.
There really is a double standard.
And I'm pretty tired of being expected to be tolerant of an intolerant religion whose leaders have openly declared they want to destroy Western society.
You can go over to sugiero to see the evil videos for yourself!
We Are Not The Same
My diocese newspaper had an interesting article in it which caught my attention. It is by Father Ron Rolheiser and can be read on his website, www.ronrolheiser.com. In the piece he is describing the "last testament" of a monk/missionary who was martyred by members of the religion of peace. The testament is a moving account of forgiveness and acceptance of a fate that eventually was his.
In the commentary that followed he makes a statement about the two faiths, Christian and Islam, which caused me to shudder:
What this extraordinarily courageous Abbott calls us to is what's deepest inside Christianity and all authentic religion, namely, a solidarity with others, all others, that's based upon a common God and a common humanity, a fact that relativizes every other difference. We are brothers and sisters, all of us, Muslims and Christians, and everyone else, under one gaze of love from God.
But that's not easy to see, nor accept, when daily we are hating, imprisoning, torturing, and killing each other in the name of God and our respective values. What Father Christian invites us to is to live out of the Gospel, not out of our feelings.
What! Has he been talking to Rosie? I'm sure that the good Father Ron had the best intentions in encouraging an ecumenical dialogue but I would disagree that we, meaning Christians, are hating torturing and killing in the name of God. No matter how you analyze the world situation...it is Islam which has cornered the market on those things.
I would appreciate it if the people who are supposed to be speaking for Christ (and/or for me) would refrain from implicating me in some wrongdoing and have the "chutzpah" to place the blame where it belongs.
Snicks and Snacks
October 7th, 2006
Camp Pendleton, California (AHN) -
“A U.S. medic who aided in the kidnapping and execution of an Iraqi grandfather by an American squad was meted a 10 year prison sentence but will only serve a year under a plea deal.
Petty Officer Melson Bacos, 21, testified that his patrol leader’s rage at the release of an alleged “terrorist” from Baghdad’s Abu Ghraib prison lead to the killing of the man’s neighbor.”
This is the first conviction of another ongoing prosecution, one of a series indicating the frustration of the troops and laxness of their oversight. These things wouldn’t be happening if the officers in charge weren’t tacitly consenting. In the military, you do only what you know is allowed.
“Luxembourg (AHN) - The negotiators from the European Union and the United States have clinched a deal on Friday that would allow both countries to share trans-Atlantic air passenger data used in anti-terror investigations.
According to the new deal, European airliners must pass on 34 items of data, including passenger addresses, telephone numbers and credit card details, to be allowed to land at U.S. airports.”
Another good sign that things might be slowly turning against the Islamic Invasion of Europe.
North Korea’s Nuclear Intentions. With all the shouting about North Korea’s and Iran’s nuclear programs, no one has mentioned the obvious connection. These two have been trade partners for years. It’s well known that Iran buys N. Korea’s missiles, but there’s no mention of all the possible and likely trade in nuclear materials and technology that may have gone on. Clearly, both of these nasty combative regimes need to be taken down.
Palestinians about to plunge into civil war. Unless a unity government is formed, experts say, disaster is seen for Palestinians, and clearly there will be no unity government. Fatah insists on recognition of Israel and will not back down. Hamas absolutely refuses and will not back down. There is fighting in the streets now between them and hit squads from each party killing each other, with the civilian bystanders getting blown away as usual.
Iraq is sliding further into civil war and Al Queda is losing members as a side benefit. a UN Security Council report said Wednesday.
“As Iraq continues to slide towards civil war, al-Qaeda may paradoxically see more losses than gains,” the report prepared by council members said. “Certainly, on return to their homelands, some fighters have expressed their dissatisfaction that on arrival in Iraq, they were asked to kill fellow Muslims rather than foreign soldiers, or even told that there was no role for them except as suicide bombers,” the report said.
Talk about turmoil in the Middle East. It’s always been messy, as those Arabs simply can’t get along with each other, but now it’s catastrophic. I fail to see how this can grow much worse without it becoming global. There are signs that this is happening, the way Russia (Putin) has become a dictatorship in all but name once again, and all the power jockeying going on between Russia, China, India and the USA and all the smaller countries with any clout at all. Look at the Leftist mess happening in South America and the wars in Africa. Man. I think I need a trank.
"Eating Cake" In The Slums of Venezuela
So, it's Bush that's the "devil," huh?
Things for the average person in Venezuela do not appear to be going very well. Hugo Chavez came into power in 1998, amidst oil wealth. But, the poverty stricken folks who put him there have not seen much of the wealth.
From the NY Post:
"... "Three kids under the age of 18 are murdered in Venezuela every day," said Fernando Pereira, a coordinator for CECODAP, a nonprofit human-rights group trying to save children.
"We don't know of any government program that exists to combat this phenomenon."
The astounding youth death rate belies the public persona Chavez exhibits whenever he comes to New York and eagerly embraces, and sometimes kisses, every little kid he sees.
Chavez recently proclaimed during a ceremony announcing a $16 million plan to rehabilitate 704 homes in a shantytown that extreme poverty has dropped from 21 to 10 percent. But critics say 50 percent of the county's 26 million inhabitants earn less than $2 a day ..."
I guess what they really need is a terrific humanitarian group like Hezbollah to come in and take over ...
Meanwhile, looks like Chavez' mouth may have cost him the support of Chile for the upcoming UN Security Seat.
North Korea Announces Plans for Nuclear Tests
KimKim Jong Il is playing with his nuclear missiles again while his country starves. He's making a lot of people very nervous.
Oct. 4 (Bloomberg) -- South Korea expressed its ``deeply serious concern and regret'' over North Korea's announcement it will conduct a nuclear test and told Kim Jong Il's regime to withdraw its plans.
``We reiterate our policy that we will not condone North Korea possessing nuclear weapons, and urge North Korea to cancel its plans to hold a nuclear test,'' Foreign Ministry spokesman Choo Kyu Ho told reporters at a briefing today in Seoul. ``North Korea's mention of a nuclear test goes against relevant nations' ongoing efforts towards a peaceful resolution.''
South Korea is the latest country to condemn North Korea's announcement yesterday. The U.S. government said a nuclear test would ``pose an unacceptable threat'' to the world while Japan said a test would be ``unforgivable'' and require a severe international response.
U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan made a statement:
"It would bring universal condemnation by the international community and will not help (North Korea) achieve the goals expressed in its statement, particularly with regard to strengthening its security."
U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton is urging the U.N. to take more convincing action with North Korea.
Bolton said he urged members to engage in "preventive diplomacy" and hold a brainstorming session "to come up not just with a knee jerk reaction ... but to develop a coherent strategy to convince them that it's not in their interest to engage in nuclear testing."
Experts believe that Pyongyang has enough plutonium for 11 nuclear bombs. The tests that Pyongyang conducted in July 2006, with complete disregard for the condemnation from the international community, proved it had the missiles, two of which are believed to be capable of reaching the United States.
The United States, Japan and South Korea have been trying to get China and Russia to put pressure on North Korea to cease this taunting of the international community. Japan and South Korea have obvious reasons to be extremely concerned about what this irrational and unpredictable dictator might do.
While Kim Jong Il lives in obscene wealth and privilege, his country is starving. His military is taken care of, but the people are not.
If North Korea does indeed have the capability to test nuclear weapons then the game is on. Japan and South Korea will have increasing pressure from within their own countries to arm themselves and enhance their own capabilities for defense. China does not want to see a nuclear armed Japan but is reluctant to reign in North Korea.
All reasonable nations are concerned about what North Korea will do with nuclear weapons. In all likelihood, the weapons would find their way into the hands of Kim's new found friends in Iran and Venezuela.
I imagine that the Korean peninsula is surrounded by American submarines even as I write this. I certainly hope so.
When we see our troops being pulled out of South Korea, it's time to watch for the flash coming from the East.
Turkey's secularism, Islam and the EU
In the past Turkey was promoted as a model for Islamic countries, a model for democratization in the Middle East, and a potential soft power in the region. What's up with Turkey? Or maybe I should say what's down with Turkey today. Turkey has been known for it's secularism in the past, which made them a country in the Middle East that had potential. But that seems to be going in the opposite direction now. These changes may keep Turkey out of the European Union.
The Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who said yesterday "A deep cultural misunderstanding between Western and Muslim societies is fueling radical groups around the world", is meeting with U.S. President George W. Bush today. The Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, will be a focus of Erdogan's meeting with Bush.
Secularism has a different meaning for the West than it does in the Middle East. In fact, there is a disconnect on many levels and the understanding between meaning of words in the ME and the West can be a problem. A 'soft power' also has a ver different meaning in the ME.
Soft power is defined as the ability to get what you want by attracting and persuading others to adopt your goals. Joseph S. Nye, Jr. "The Decline of America's Soft Power," Foreign Affairs. May/June 2004. source
Just two years ago, polls showed that more than 70 percent of Turks wanted to join the European Union, but that has slipped to 43 percent and continue to decline today. Why is the desire to join the EU slipping?
The most obvious frictions are over Cyprus: Turks feel they are being bullied by Brussels into making further concessions over the divided island. [snip]
The cost and hassle of implementing the EU's 80,000-page Acquis Communautaire—the vast canon of rules and regulations on everything from air quality to the size and shape of bananas... (more) Hat tip Toasted Bread
If Turkey does not enter the EU, some believe it 'will be in danger of backsliding into "inward-looking nationalism"'. Jacques Chirac says 'Turkey must recognise the Armenian Genocide before being able to adhere the European Union.
The Turkey-as-a-model argument had in fact emerged after the end of the Cold War. Anthony Blinkmen, President Clinton's Special Assistant and Senior Director for European Affairs at the National Security Council stated that "Turkey sits at the crossroads--or, if you prefer, atop the fault lines--of the world. Because of its place ... its history ... its size ... and strength, and most important, because of what it is--a nation of mainly Islamic faith that is secular, democratic, and modernizing--Turkey must be a leader and can be a role model for a large swath of the world." [snip]
The notion of Turkey being a model for Islamic countries reemerged more forcefully after September 11. President George W. Bush, attending the Istanbul NATO Summit in June 2004, said "I appreciate very much the example that your country has set on how to be a Muslim country which embraces democracy, rule of law and freedom." ... [snip]
Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer reacted to this characterization by stating that "Turkey is neither an Islamic republic, nor an example of moderate Islam." source
On politics, 'Turkey's staunchly pro-secular president warned on Sunday of a continued Islamic fundamentalist threat to Turkey and said the military, the traditional guardians of the secular system, must be kept powerful. . . . His words appeared to be aimed at Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government, which has Islamic roots, and against the European Union which has been pressuring Turkey into curbing the military's powers.' A little history:
When the modern Turkish republic was born in 1923, its founding father Mustafa Kemal Ataturk pushed through what was arguably the most radical programme of secularisation ever attempted in any Muslim society, before or since.
Ataturk believed secular nationalism was an essential hallmark of modernity and progress.
Since the 1970s there have been a series of Muslim political parties, the latest of which, Justice and Development, came to power with a big majority last year. source
On Islam and the Pope's recent comments:
Erdogan, a pious Muslim who served a short jail sentence once for reciting a poem deemed Islamist by Turkey's secular authorities, said everybody, especially public figures such as the Pope, should show respect for other religions and cultures.
"The Pope is both a political and religious figure. But this person spoke in a way that is unfitting even for us politicians," Erdogan told an economic conference in Istanbul.
"When disrespect was shown for my Prophet (Mohammad) we could not tolerate this." Erdogan described the comments at the time as "ugly and unfortunate" and called for a papal apology. source
Can we presume from Erdogan's statements that had the Pope made his speech in Turkey he would have been arrested??? Something to think about.
Abu Ayyub al-Masri, Your Days are al-Numbered
al-masriSunday has been a violent day in Baghdad. The AP reports that 24 workers at a refriderated food factory were kidnapped by gunmen. Twenty-six workers were being forced into a refridgerated truck, when two refused to get into the truck they were shot and left behind.
Also Sunday, the bodies of 21 people apparently killed in such attacks were found in Baghdad or to the south. Among them were seven bullet-riddled, handcuffed bodies in the southern Dora district of the capital, and six corpses — each with a single shot to the head — found in northern Baghdad.
This most recent surge in sectarian violence in Baghdad is apparently in reaction to the arrest of the bodyguard of one of the Iraqi government's Sunni Arab leaders. The bodyguard was arrested accused of planning bombing attacks. This arrest resulted in the Shiite's accusing the Sunni's of ties to terrorism.
The potential government crisis erupted after U.S. troops on Friday arrested a bodyguard of Sunni politician Adnan al-Dulaimi, saying the man was suspected of leading an al-Qaida-linked cell that was "in the final stages" of carrying out a string of bombings in Baghdad's fortified Green Zone, the center of government and home to the U.S. and British embassies.
This arrest has placed suspicion of ties to terrorism on al-Dulaimi. Now Sunni and Shiite lawmakers are pointing fingers and making accusations that each group is connected to the jihadists. Each group is demanding that the other be treated as terrorists and demanding they be investigated.
The headlines I've seen this evening present this story in a weak manner. Iraq government facing sectarian rift. Gunmen kidnap 24 workers from Baghdad factory. Curfew in Baghdad for Alledged Plot.
With all the finger pointing and accusations, I think they just sound more and more like our own lawmakers. For better or worse.
The bottom line is they are talking about what they have to do to reduce the level of violence and bring their government together. They aren't agreeing, but they are talking about the dignity of their nation, not allowing sectarian violence to disable their government. They are using words like 'we'.
They are also looking to the source of the increase in violence and placing it squarely with al-Qaida terrorists. They all seem to be sick of the interference of the al-Quaida jihadists on their attempts to form a viable operational government. In particular Abu Ayyub al-Masri, the successor of al-Zarqawi
Iraq's National Security Adviser Mouwafak al-Rubaie, meanwhile, said security forces were closing in on the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq Abu Hamza al-Muhajer, also known as Abu Ayyub al-Masri.
He succeeded slain militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi at the helm of the group, which is accused of some of the deadliest suicide bombings against Shiites.
"In a very short time, we will bring you the good news of Abu Ayyub al-Masri either killed or handcuffed to be brought before the Iraqi justice system," he said.
He showed what he called an al-Qaida instructional CD found this week in a raid south of Baghdad in which al-Masri is seen explaining how to build a car bomb.
"Your days are numbered and you will face your fate very soon," al-Rubaie said, addressing al-Masri.
[source]
I hope when they bring al-Masri in, dead or alive, he does as al-Zarqawi did. That he lives long enough to bleed, suffer, recognize and attempt to escape from his own judgement day.
"I Have Friends At The White House ..."
Hugo Chavez thinks he has low friends in high places.
From the AP:
CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuela President Hugo Chavez said Sunday he has received warnings from within the White House that the Bush administration is plotting to assassinate him or topple his left-leaning government.
Citing what he said were warnings from an alleged White House informant, Chavez told thousands of supporters at a campaign rally that
President Bush has ordered him to be killed before he leaves office in 2008.
Bush "has said that before he goes, Hugo Chavez shouldn't be the president of Venezuela," Chavez told the crowd. "The president of the United States has said it, especially in recent days. What he doesn't know is that I have friends in the White House."
If it's true, I hope those friends are a little more reliable that the NYT's ubiquitous unnamed sources.
Anyway, Chavez is running for re-election in December, and he's using "fighting the devil," as one of his campaign themes. Of course, if he wins, that will put him in office for decades:
Chavez vowed to win the Dec. 3 vote and continue governing this South American nation until 2021. "Fourteen more years, that's what's coming," Chavez said.
Venezuela's Constitution allows a president to be re-elected only once in immediate succession. If Chavez wins a second six-year term in December, he wouldn't be able to run again in 2012 _ without a legal change
But he is planning a legal change. From ElUniversal:
Not even the times of election campaign can curb a thrust condensed in three key announcements made during his recent speech in Bolivar Avenue, Caracas. They are: ratification of an amendment to the Constitution for indefinite re-election; expropriation, that is, seizure, of a sugar mill and La Ceiba port, and unified political forces of the regime in one single party.
Alot of people see Chavez as just another buffoon on the world state, but while it's true he is a hoot, I think he needs to be taken seriously. Here's why:
1) First and foremost, the US depends on Venezuela for about a fifth of our oil supply. There's an article out today that Chavez plans to cut down oil production by 50,000 barrels a day. That's a symbolic amount, probably economic driven, at last so far. However, there's also an agreement between Chavez and Ahmadinejad that Venezuela will cut off oil to the US if Iran's attacked... or maybe "feels" attacked ... ?
2) The Iranians already run at least one of the Venezuelan refineries, and have recently signed an agreement with Chavez to explore and exploit the Orinico River for oil.
3) There is a disturbing story of Hezbollah setting up camp between Columbia and Venezuela, in the Guajira Peninsula. (It's also the province that Chavez' competitor Gov. Manuel Rosales of Zulia state, comes from. No wonder Rosales is a tad upset about "Chavez Of Arabia".)
4) Chavez is lobbying hard for a seat on the UN Security Council, although it's hard to imagine that Venezuela could be more obstructionist than Russia and China. Still, it's a little unsettling. Also unsettling is Kofi Annan's smarmy tacit approval of his anti-American bashing (although Kofi could be just job-hunting since his term in the UN will expire in December)
5) More disturbing: Chavez has been running around the world looking for arms. Last summer, he spent about three billion dollars buying arms from Russia. That's on top of his deal last year, in which he spent 2.17 billion in Kalishnakov's and helicopters from Russia. Of course, he'll no longer have to buy assault weapons from Russia, since he just signed a deal to open a Kalishnakov factory on Venezuelan soil.
6) Blatantly disturbing: Chavez and his new best friend, Ahmadinejad, have a kind of mutual defense pact, which includes Iran sharing nuclear technology with Venezuela, and Venezuela cutting off oil if Iran's attacked.
What needs to be remembered here is that unlike Russia, China, N.Korea or Iran, Venezuela is a hop, skip and a jump from our southern border. You could also think of Venezuela as a half dozen gas tanks away from the Rio Grande.
Al-Qaida leader Masri close to capture
Bad Guy In A Tee Shirt-Iraq's National Security Adviser Mowaffak al-Rubaie shows a video grab of al-Qaeda leader in Iraq Abu Ayyub al-Masri during a news conference in Baghdad October 1, 2006.
BAGHDAD- The Iraqi government said on Sunday that its security forces are close to capture or killing of the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq Abu Ayyub al-Masri.
"I can say we are very close to Abu Ayyub al-Masri and we say to him your days are numbered," said Iraqi National Security Advisor Muwaffaq al-Rubaie.
"My message to Iraqis in Ramadan is that it is so close, we will bring you the good news of Abu Ayyub al-Masri either killed or handcuffed to be brought before the Iraqi justice system," al-Rubaie told the news conference, in which a video tape of al-Masriteaching followers how to build a car bomb was shown.
The video tape showed al-Masri in a white T-shirt was talking to the camera as he explained how to compose a car bomb.
Rubaie said that the video was found in Youssifiyah, some 20 km south of Baghdad.
If this prediction comes true I'll celebrate this Ramadan! Go get him.
In the meantime: Defining Jihad- here is an interesting Muslim opinion piece called "The Irrelevance Of Jihad".
In the last few years, and particularly since 9/11, ``jihadism'' has become synonymous with ``terrorism'' and ``jihadists'' with ``terrorists''.
Consequently, many Muslim intellectuals and public figures have gone into a defensive mode, trying to point out that the greater jihad is the struggle inside oneself to do what is morally right while armed struggle is merely the lesser jihad, secondary to the struggle to control ones base instincts.
While these may be true, it is also the case that the greater jihad, since it does not occupy public space, is of little significance in the current global debate about the use of the term jihad and its offshoots ``jihadism'' and ``jihadists''.
The irrelevance of greater jihad in public life is obvious.
Jihad has been a political term from the early years of Islam, associated as it has been with the expansion of Muslim empires and justified by the argument that Muslims had the obligation to spread the word of God to humankind. The early Muslim empires were not particularly concerned about converting non-Muslim subjects to Islam and were, therefore, tolerant of religious diversity to a greater extent than their medieval counterparts in Christendom.
However, they often used the term jihad to justify territorial expansion usually undertaken for economic or strategic gain.
Use of religious terminology to provide a veneer for secular projects is not unique to Islam.
Expansionist wars, both of the universal and sectarian variety, conducted in the name of Christianity were usually far more ferocious and destructive of life and property than those undertaken in the name of Islam.
Muslim rulers at least did not kill infidels to save their souls.
They preferred taxing them to raise revenues for the state, one reason for their lukewarm attitude towards conversion of subject peoples to Islam.
New Mohammed Atta Video Released
Michelle Malkin and HotAir.com are blogging about the release of the Mohammed Atta martyrdom video.
Lucky for me it came without sound. Check out the Cat Stevens/Mohammed Atta mash-up video, "Atta Catta".
Oh Joy! Yusuf Islam, the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens is releasing a new album.
LONDON — Yusuf Islam, formerly known as pop singer Cat Stevens, is set to release his first commercial album nearly three decades after he reverted to Islam and withdrew from the pop world, dismissing criticism that returning to the music industry is a betrayal of his Muslim faith.
"It's me, so it's going to sound like that of course ... This is the real thing," Islam was quoted Sunday, October1, as saying by Agence France-Presse (AFP).
"As long as it conforms to moral norms and doesn’t divert a person from his or her duties in worshipping Allah Most High, then it has its place in the culture of Islam."
Did he say the culture of Islam? Oh no he di'int! LOL! Careful what you sing, Yusuf. You may end up looking at your vocal chords.
This video is "Banned on Youtube.com".
